Interesting thought process, deciding you had the basics for two quilts. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Janet-so far I’ve only put the first one together! I’ll get to the other one another time.

Lisa I loved listening to Cindy. But I didn’t write down the site she gave where she can sell some of her work. Can you please share that again?

My style is completely different because I love batiks with their patterns, and I love applique. But these quilts are beautiful and I'm tempted to try making one. It looks like fun. Thank you for sharing.

I enjoyed hearing about the process that goes into improv quilts. I have always wondered about them, I am thinking this is now something that i can have a go at trying, Cindy I love your work , Thanks Lisa for bringing the Quilt Stories to us.

Thanks for making the point that even when working modern or improvisationally, the classic rules of design still apply. A piece needs to work on some level and design principles get you there. Improv/modern does not mean "random".

A nice job taking us through your process. Very inspiring. I learned that negative space is a good thing. Going to my studio to edit and simplify. Thank you Lisa and Cindy .

From Ellen Lindner: Great job Cindy! I'm actually using scraps on an improv quilt right now and you've confirmed some of my thoughts and plans. (I call them sourdough quilts too.)

I'm inspired to buy Cindy's book and give this style a try. I am not any good at all at precision quilting, but this has enough of a "go with the flow" piecing look that perhaps, just perhaps, will work for me!
I love this style and I think that Cindy's level of work is truly in the artistic realm. Captivating work!

Your quilts look like so much fun! Cindy, do you perfectly square off your finished improv quilts, or is that part of the improv?

Thank you ladies for an interesting and informative lecture. Cindy, you did a virtual lecture for SAQA Oregon region this past year and I bought your book. I am very taken with your process and palette of solids as I have a love of using hot colors in prints in my improvisational work. SAQA is having a Jump into June with a 30 Day being creative event and I am going to use solids to make bits and elements that I hope will become an improvisational quilt. I am very excited to work through your process. Thank you for sparking my interest!

Thank you for this interview! I have admired and followed some of Cindy’s work for some time. Her explanations of her process in improv was very enlightening! I have her book, but this takes that one step further. Thank you again! Strongly considering finding an online class come fall!

Seems to be the recent fashion to weld the front and back with masses of stitching. Pretty piecing, but smashed by the quilting. It looks very stiff. Maybe wasn't intended for sleeping under.
