I really appreciate your content. I have been suffering from LPR Gerd for five months. Doctors have given me heavy duty antibiotics, two times, steroids, ppl’s. I went to a lovely Naturopath, she did blood work, put me on probiotics, and Unda 243 drops. I changed my diet to be very alkaline, with lots of greens, eat two meals a day, no snacking. I was low in B 12 so I’m taking that now. I’m focusing on eating more slowly. She asked me lots of questions and made a few lifestyle changes. No alcohol, no coffee or caffeinated tea. As long as I stay with my clean diet my symptoms are gone. How simple is this instead of all those drugs. I believe the medical doctors need to learn how to be wellness coaches in order for people to maintain their health. Your videos are fabulous and thank you for all the good that you are doing. I am 76 and take no meds., just D3 and B12. We must be our own advocate for our health. Also, even though my stress is all good stuff, I have learned to reduce some of the socializing. I play the piano, do yoga, quilt, read and spend most of my life outdoors and more time myself. Thanks. Linda from Turks and Caicos and Canada

Success story... I have serious health issues that my family doctor could never even put a name on much less a treatment program... I started KETO and researching this on my own, I have been an auto mechanic for 30+ years - so I just applied the same process that I would use to diagnose a car problem. I have been watching Dr. Berg's videos for around 6 months now, and he has been a life saver in educating me as to how to improve and pin point my condition. I am saying a literal life saver - I was slowly dying from what started 2 years ago as acid reflux, which blocked my body's ability to absorb many nutrients basically - I was starving to death while I was gaining weight from poor diet. I expect that it will take years to get my full health back, but I continue to learn from Dr. Berg and I see a continuing improvement in my condition. Thank you, Dr. Berg for generously sharing your wealth of knowledge.

I have had GERD for as long as I can remember. At age 10 I started gaining weight, had all kinds of stomach issues, and even though I did eat homemade meals that both my mom and I believed to be healthy, I consumed lots of carb and yeast feeding foods. Plus, growing up with asthma and a weak immune system, I did at least two rounds of antibiotics a yr! This led to a huge Candida bacteria overgrowth! I have all the signs. My acid reflux led to me being diagnosed with Vocal Chord Dysfunction. This causes a choking sensation and wheezing in my throat. I wish I knew more about killing candida before this condition developed and started destroying my life! Now, I am taking Caprylic Acid, Probiotics, Ox Bile, lots of vitamins, and trying to clean up my diet. I am 100 lbs overweight and I do have a Hiatal Hernia as well. I believe one day, I'll beat this. But it's going to be a lifelong battle. Doctors wanted me on Prilosec or maybe even have Nissen Fundoplication surgery. But I'm trying more natural solutions first! Your diet and supplements will indeed fix your problems.

@@Drberg This is WRONG! Your diagram of the stomach (0:05) is not accurate at all. The stomach on the opposite side to the exit is a hanging POUCH, and the exit of the stomach is quite a bit higher than that pouch (0:39). The pouch holds food that is being digested. The stomach is a muscle. When the food is digested and ready to move to the intestine, the stomach starts contracting to push the food out the exit. Reflux happens when the acidic food is driven UP the esophagus by this contraction. With our modern overeating, that pouch can become stretched, and hangs lower, so when the contraction happens, the direction the acidic food is pushed is UP the esophagus, not across the stomach and then out as it is supposed to do.
To deal with this, when an individual starts to get acid reflux, the person has to lean over on their right side to get that pouch HIGHER than the exit. Then start massaging their abdomen from lower left, moving up to just below the ribcage, then across to the right, pushing quite strongly into the abdomen as they do it. This is to push the food out of the now higher pouch towards the exit end of the stomach. Do this until the reflux stops, it might take 5 or 6 strokes. If the reflux starts again, repeat. There might be 5 or 6 reflux episodes, each one going away with the massaging. After a few months, this pouch will reverse it stretched size, get back to normal, and acid reflux will go away, and you will almost never get it.
A WARNING! Dont use over the counter alkali antacids, like Rolaids or Tums. The recipe for all forms of concrete is alkali + klinker + substrate. eg Portland cement uses caustic soda + a manufactured klinker + sand or gravel. Roman concrete used slaked lime + volcanic ash + sand or gravel. If you take antacids due to a strong reflux event, the acid-burned fiber in your stomach becomes a good klinker, unburned fiber is a good substrate, and the antacid is the alkali. When that slurry gets to the large intestine, and the water is removed, it can form a very real block of concrete. This is known as a fecal stone/fecal lith. At minimum it will abrade the lining of the large intestine, causing colitis, swelling of the intestine, and a bowel obstruction from the swelling, and/or from the stone lodging and not moving. Straining very hard to move things through can cause back pressure that can produce Diverticulitis. At worst this stone can perforate the bowel, which needs emergency medical treatment, and can be fatal.

I used to suffer from terrible digestion. Then I changed job and it miraculously cleared up. I can only attribute it to the fact that in my old job I used to buy these crappy meal deals, drink lots of diet coke and wolf my food down in a hurry. I literally went from someone who took antacid after every meal, to someone who takes them twice a year, just from cutting out that one unhealthy eating routine from my day.
I would also note that during the pandemic I have been very mindful to take supplements especially Vitamin D. (Deficiencies have been linked to far worse outcomes.) As a result my general health has improved. Now I just need to start eating more cruciferous veg!
