  • Bruce Lee's first appearance in a major Hollywood movie. Bruce was voted the 2nd : www.menshealth... fittest man of all time ! Lee is on the Top 10 list of the dead celebrities, who earned the most money last year : www.forbes.com/...
    "Bruce Lee
On paper, Bruce Lee might not strike the average guy as all that impressive. Arguably the most influential martial artist of all time, Lee stood just 5-foot-7 and weighed as little as 125 pounds for a large part of his acting and fighting career. When Lee was at his leanest, his waist measured just 26 inches. And he got that way not only because of his insatiable work ethic, but because of the way he continuously evolved his training regimen.
In his book, The Art of Expressing the Human Body, Lee advocates the sort of resistance training and core-strengthening routines now championed by programs like P90X (and our own Men’s Health Anarchy workout). That’s part of the reason even Hollywood’s strongest men felt inspired by his fitness level.
“Bruce took off his T-shirt, and I marveled again, as I always did every time I saw his physique,” Chuck Norris once said. “He had muscles on muscles.”
Even Arnold was impressed. “Bruce Lee had a very-and I mean a very-defined physique,” Schwarzenegger once said. “He probably had one of the lowest body-fat counts of any athlete around ... He was one of a kind, an idol.”

After his collapse in May 1973 (two months prior to his death) he went to LA to see a doctor, a specialist, to find out what caused his almost fatal brain swelling. Well, the doctor found everything all right in Bruce's body (couldn't reveal the reason of his "unwellness"), and following the examinations, he came to the conclusion that Lee was so fit like a 18 year old young guy.

Unfortunately there are some Bruce Lee haters, who are envious of his
success. They claim that he was not a "real fighter", who didn't take
part in martial art tournaments. But they should know that Bruce was
before everything else an actor (in addition a super one), and a kung-fu
trainer. He didn't say that "I am the greatest martial artist in the
world", he concentrated only on his job, he did his best, and so he
became a legend. Rightfully, on his own. By his industry and enormous amount of talent.

He was a martial artist first and foremost above anything else! And didn’t need to go to a tournament to prove anything to anybody. He knew fighting and the art of fighting like nobody else. He was also the first mixed martial artist, taking things from different styles because they all worked in real fighting. Acting was secondary to who he really was as a person and spiritually.

I've been into MA and fan of Bruce since before his death in 73.
Here is some interesting info that's generally washed over and hidden from media and public.
The classic animal sounds and battle cries you hear in the movies from Bruce were actually dubbed and not Bruce. Here in this clip you'll actually get to hear Bruce's own real kung fu battle cries 👍

    • @pjtheory
      @pjtheory 4 роки тому +2

CHRIS: In terms of the Mandarin/Cantonese versions of the Big Boss/Fists of Fury/Way of the Dragon, and both the international and Warner Bros version of Enter The Dragon, the source of the animal noises/battle cries is Bruce Lee. The Little Dragon only filmed about 28 minutes of footage for Game of Death, and no sound or music was created for that footage, so the 1978 Asian release of the film contained war cries culled from Lee's other films. The war cries heard in the U.S. versions of Fists of Fury, Chinese Connection, Return of the Dragon, and Game of Death were from people not named Bruce Lee.

The thing about Bruce that made his so great was not only was he a trailblazing martial artist, but his charisma was off the charts. You just can't teach that. It is born that way. He had it, but it took him years and extremely hard work and incredible dedication of his part for him to get finally noticed. If he didn't go off to Asia to make and complete 3 of his films, who knows what his career path might have lead too. His success at Golden Harvest, gave him the opportunity to make Enter the Dragon. Sadly that was the last film he would complete. And a bit of final trivia. The beginning of ETD when Lee fights Sammo Hung, well that was the last time Bruce was filmed for the big screen. RIP

The Bruce Lee in movies fought very differently than Bruce Lee fighting for real. When he really fought there was no expression on his face, just determination.
He would look at you coldly through piercing eyes. He called it "controlled cruelty".

I paid visit to Robert Baker's house -a good 3 times. He stared as the Russian (The Chinese Connection movie.) He had a set up in his garage like B.L. ( Bruce Lee.) He did some demos 4 me caz i questioned him about his training W/ Lee. He told me B.L. would over workout. Indeed Baker had gd speed since he wked out W/ Bruce. When i see thunder & lighting: i think of Lee- NO one yet has matched his skills. In fact, film makers asked him to slow down-as NO one could time him. He s still # 1, Thx!

I agree! The series would have been so much better! Of course he might have portrayed the character a bit different... actually I hope he would have... I watched the series and found it a bit lame on many occasions... it's so obviously a hippie kumbaya pseudo Eastern with a bit of martial arts of sorts thrown in... like the Beatles hanging out in Ashrams 😏 they couldn't have made it like that at any other time. Bruce Lee would have been awesome! He's much more screen presence and swag which I would have loved to see. But I'm sure the producers were much happier with their version of an Asian male .um....hero🙄
