Fantastic movie. Love how his widow was able to influence the film's tone. Also, epic music at all the right times, stillness to allow focus. As Bruce said, "Be like Water." (referring to the Tao)
It's called a kip up. I used to be able to do it, but I'm dealing with back pain now. Right now it kinda feels painful to watch someone do it too, but I remember that it was actually less effort to get up like that than other "regular"' methods. Weird how perspectives can change
Awhile back I saw a short video of this that ended when Bruce Lee tells the guy he's ready to do his exercises on him. You can imagine my frustration. So glad to finally see the fight!
The guy who threatens Bruce is played by Eric Bruskotter who played the trainee shot by a fellow trainee in Starship Troopers. One of his buddies is played by Michael Cudlitz who played Bull Randleman in Band of Brothers. Watch Cudlitz' interview where he talks about meeting the real Bull Randleman, very interesting stuff!

Seen this movie quite a few times, but I was today years old when I noticed one of the "Gym Jerks" was Michael Culditz, aka 'Bull" Randleman from Band of Brothers.
@niallwatts789 I agree he's the most influential, as for equally skilled I disagree, no MMA fighter imo could equal Bruce in skill in his prime, imo Bruce is the greatest of all time
@@Joseph-gm3qm I disagree. Bruce excelled in the striking part of MMA, whereas he was not too proficient in grappling. Therefore, in terms of MMA, he wasn't very skilled overall. However in terms of striking, he was very skilled. Even if we are just talking striking (which MMA is not), the likes of Anderson Silva and Sean O Malley are definitely as skilled. They are/were proven against the very best in the world. I am a huge Bruce Lee fan but we have to be realistic
He made some of his bestest friends after that, some of his most committed students. Bruce didnt even have to hurt any of these guys to show he was stronger
ive dealt with this 2 years ago, some guy was talking shit from afar in a gym up in NY, saying he'd drop me or mess me up with his two buddies around. Funny part was, whenever he was alone he didn't say shit. I look back at it now and realize how much of a bitch he was XD
@Ifalvarado absolutely nothing, I walked away or ignored it every time. Now the kicker is how you respond to my answer. Let's see the type of person you are
I love how he spin around to see if anyone else want to attack him. Most people in film always get attacked from behind because they focus in front of them...
But they aren’t , most black ppl I’ve met in real life are 10x more racist than whites, the whole “Stop Asian Hate” movement started because the majority of hate crimes/racial attacks against Asian Americans in 2020-2021 were being committed by blacks, and once the media found out who the ones attacking Asians were, it stopped getting mass media coverage.
Always had an issue with this scene. It has always troubled me that the black guy doesn't seem to have a problem with the racism even though he would have been experiencing the same BS in this timeframe.
It’s quite fascinating that YOU 🫵🏻 didn’t have an issue with the racial slur C****K throughout the movie (don’t know how UA-cam community guidelines police) will feel about this word. 🤔 I don’t expect you to respond back, just learn from this interaction. 🤯 🎤 DROP
Fun fact: IP man taught this man. Not only fighting, but learning to be a man and show honor. For example, Bruce took the time to apologize when he didn't need to, but he did so to send condolences.
i grew up during this time and studied kung fu and my instructor knew bruce - we would always ask him stories about bruce - this was during green hornet days and Bruce was huge - all of us were trying to emulate him as kids😂
I always love when in those movies the "cocky" guy doesn't even aim to strike his opponent. Just throwing hands over the head or like 40cm to the side for no F reason KEKW
I could be wrong but it looks like he doesn't even hit the main guy apart from the twang on the ear. Just using his momentum against him to take him out.
Bruce Lee's karate sidekick was recorded hitting at 1200 lbs of kinetic energy..truly the one guy who ate one during this fight would be on the floor with shattered ribs

He did, check out Soldier. Great flick.
Fantastic movie. Love how his widow was able to influence the film's tone. Also, epic music at all the right times, stillness to allow focus. As Bruce said, "Be like Water." (referring to the Tao)

2:29 Every time I see someone doing that kind of flip -- whatever it's called -- all I can think is "My aching spine!"
It's called a kip up.
I used to be able to do it, but I'm dealing with back pain now.
Right now it kinda feels painful to watch someone do it too, but I remember that it was actually less effort to get up like that than other "regular"' methods.
Weird how perspectives can change
@@misterkami2 Many thanks man! And I hope you find a way to curb your back pain. My brother and father went thru that kind of hell for years.
@@tommyt1971 Thanks! Never give up and keep looking for solutions for injuries. I'm planning to be able to do kip ups again in the future
Awhile back I saw a short video of this that ended when Bruce Lee tells the guy he's ready to do his exercises on him. You can imagine my frustration. So glad to finally see the fight!
I freaking loved this movie.
Jason scott lee played Bruce lee perfectly!! What a movie!
Yeah, he did a great job and is one of my favorite characters. Ofc, almost everyone did a great job. Even Jimmy remembered his lines without breaking character.
@@mkvv5687 Yup, quite a monstrous feat they pulled off in that miniseries. The Pacific was excellent too, not a bad performance in it.
He was also in tour of duty as well
The film that made me a life long Bruce Lee fan!
Seen this movie quite a few times, but I was today years old when I noticed one of the "Gym Jerks" was Michael Culditz, aka 'Bull" Randleman from Band of Brothers.
Yeah, great acting in BoB. Too bad that, after this scene, he couldn't have children.
Great movie! I keep rewatching it! Best Bruce Lee movie for me!
So weird seeing Rube (from Major League II) playing a bad/tough guy!
Ironically, Jason Scott Lee would also play a villain in Soldier (1997), and did it better than Rube's actor.
Watch Can't Buy Me Love and Star Ship Troopers
@@kevlark3184 "MEDIC!!!" 😂
He was also in the Tour of Duty TV series. Eric Bruskotter I think (spelling)
@@KenMasters.It's wild that Tom Paris worked out with his friends and met Bruce Lee at this location before joining Starfleet.
Be water , my friend !!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Bruce Lee
Bruce Lee best of the best 😂
(Upon seeing Bruce Lee take off his socks): "What are you gonna do? Stink me to death?" The guy is a total bully, but that line was funny.😂
I guess it is, if you are 7 years old
When the person you want to fight takes off their shoes, it's time to think better of it.
Or step on his feet.
Another warning is if the he is a open handed fighter, and barefooted! Watch out!
@@MK-su6eg Or if he reaches behind his back and pulls out a gun. Watch out!
Having no interest in martial arts or Bruce Lee, I watched this movie on TV several years ago. It's an awesome movie.
Outstanding performance
5 decades later Bruce is still regarded as the best Martial Artist of all time, that speaks volumes
Most influential martial artist of all time I'd say. With the popularity of MMA, there have been many who have been equally as skilled if not more.
@niallwatts789 you have your opinion and I have mine, I'm not changing yours and You're not changing mine 👍
@@Joseph-gm3qm Very true. Cheers mate
one of the best scenes in the movie
This was a great film. It showed his intelligence and flaws. Bruce was a great man and this was a good portrayal.
BRUCE!!!!!!!!
That's how most bullies work . When they have friends around they are all kinds of tough. But when alone they not so much.
@johnhorton9637 yep, the quote from MIB comes to mind. "A person is smart. People are dumb panicky dangerous animals and you know it"
they are always big and bad when they have their friends with them
And what did you say to him in front of his friends? That's the kicker there
@Ifalvarado absolutely nothing, I walked away or ignored it every time. Now the kicker is how you respond to my answer. Let's see the type of person you are
I love how he spin around to see if anyone else want to attack him. Most people in film always get attacked from behind because they focus in front of them...
You would think the black guy wouldve been sympathetic and get offended when he said your kind
Or he's like Carter from Rush Hour.
A ignorant guy who is as racist as George Jefferson and Fred Sanford.
He even had the decency to apologize about the guy's father's death. Bruce Lee kicked ass.
This was a great movie.
Fun choreography, bringing back 80's vibes, good stuff.
I know when I'm in a fight I often jump over my opponent as well. Hilarious choreography.
Well when you're on a mat, and they go for your legs, you can try that. If you can't jump, then sprawl.
See, now if any of these guys had jiu jitsu or judo Bruce would’ve had a problem.
That's the big guy from starship troopers
Different guy
@@kbanghart Nope, same guy
@@KaiatheSiberianHusky then what's his name?
The guys talking trash at the end is epic.
This would have been a fun fight to watch, but the director made it stupid.
Hollywood make EVERYTHING stupid tbh
I wish the movie were longer to.
Even if it is stupid, it's still far better than Birth of the Dragon.
Solid comment 👍👍
That's reality,no games no showing off...Bruce was waaay out of anyones league
Your comment is moronic...like this was some real life event that still needed a director. Its a movie...🤦🏻♂️🤣
What a great quote at the end.
Would have been funny if he just kept taking off all his clothes, saying "wait..."
Really enjoyed this movie when it came out.... Jason Lee did a great job :)
Bruce Lee fights the Three Stooges.
Bilbo had a better chance against Smaug.
He is so brilliant amazing man who fights like bruce lee 👏
My only thought...how often does this/has this actually happened?!? And you should never mess with the quiet one...
It's called the art of talking without talking.
Always had an issue with this scene. It has always troubled me that the black guy doesn't seem to have a problem with the racism even though he would have been experiencing the same BS in this timeframe.
You don’t seem to be aware of how racist black people can be.
It’s quite fascinating that YOU 🫵🏻 didn’t have an issue with the racial slur C****K throughout the movie (don’t know how UA-cam community guidelines police) will feel about this word. 🤔 I don’t expect you to respond back, just learn from this interaction. 🤯 🎤 DROP
"Or I'll touch you back" always breaks me
What is Bruce's Lee favorite burger! The waaaaaapa!...... and drink? waaaata!
Fun fact: IP man taught this man. Not only fighting, but learning to be a man and show honor. For example, Bruce took the time to apologize when he didn't need to, but he did so to send condolences.
reallly stupid fight scene.
One of the best scenes ever and line,' I will touch you back"
Never fails MrKaren always has to start something from a taught childhood
"Your kind don't understand English"
"Brother, I'm born in San Fransico, California.."
😂😂😂😂😂😂 Well Done. Haters were not there and wouldn't know Accurate if it hit them in the Face
i grew up during this time and studied kung fu and my instructor knew bruce - we would always ask him stories about bruce - this was during green hornet days and Bruce was huge - all of us were trying to emulate him as kids😂
This is one my favorite movies, despite inaccuracies people have told me are in it
I always love when in those movies the "cocky" guy doesn't even aim to strike his opponent. Just throwing hands over the head or like 40cm to the side for no F reason KEKW
I know this isn't relevant but wow, Jason's looking good in this.
I could be wrong but it looks like he doesn't even hit the main guy apart from the twang on the ear. Just using his momentum against him to take him out.
According to Bruces wife. Bruce was high energy most of the time. Love high energy people.
Best Bruce Lee life story to date imho, although exaggerated it still rocks🤘
Bruce Lee's karate sidekick was recorded hitting at 1200 lbs of kinetic energy..truly the one guy who ate one during this fight would be on the floor with shattered ribs
Bruce was persecuted because He was Superior in every single way.
