The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Is The Last Performance V8 Manual Super Sedan
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 сер 2021
- The last manual V8 super sedan you can buy brand new is the 2022 @Cadillac #CT5VBlackwing. It is a direct replacement for the old CTS-V and with the same 6.2L supercharged V8, now making 668 HP. This #CadillacCT5VBlackwing is one of the most powerful 6-speed manual sedans you can buy today. While the #Blackwing name is new, the basic super sedan sedan formula hasn't changed and this is the last hurrah to the gas engine before the #Cadillac performance team switches to all-electric for the next generation.

Hey guys! Thank you for clarifying that the key fob is color matched to the brake calipers, we did not know that at the time of filming. Neat little detail, what color would you want on yours?
Thank you Sofyan, I’ve been researching n gathering info on this and thee BlackWing CT-4… I’m ready for this review.
Black, since I want a monochrome key fob. I need a lot more green first though. 🤷♂️
I went electric blue with red calipers. I'd have preferred a blue fob but it's still kinda cool
Nice review keep up the good work
Red
I can't wait to get one of these used in 15 years
It might be in the junk yard by then
I got a feeling these will be very hard to come by and will keep their value fairly well, much like some recent nice Chevrolet SS manuals selling for like 30k.
Maybe in next 5 years
This car is not from Japan!

I’m so proud of GM and Cadillac for making a proper replacement for the CTS-V. I’m so happy
@@GarrishChristopherRobin777 Thanks for chiming in douche. No really, thanks. 🙃
Better than a 3rd gen CTS-V because it’s manual
@@GarrishChristopherRobin777 Says the guy using a smartphone or computer to comment on UA-cam. Shouldn't you be roughing in the woods there pal 🙄
It's a fantastic vehicle, but let's be honest who can really afford it? I have a truck that was in the 80k+ range, and I felt like I was signing my life away, but at least my truck can make me money.
@Markus Patients yep, don't give the slightest damn
That it allows you to dump the clutch and put all that power down, with minimal slippage, is incredible. In a manual too! Wowzers, Cadillac. You've impressed this European driver! 👍👍👍
Man oh man what a sexy car. Wish I had one. I'll never forget the first time I test drove a 1st gen CTSV, scared the hell outta me, and I fell in love with it
Boy this comment section smh where are all the real car enthusiast at they in here talking about c pillars and why it doesn't compete with this and that all kinds of bs this car is a beast 💯
This is a chump car for old Xers.
Yeah, I've seen comments about how he isn't doing a "serious review for a mature audience." Damn is he supposed to be flat face and say "very fast car for your upper-level manager."
It's a silly exciting review and genuine reactions we can live vicariously through him to enjoy. I'd sell a kidney for this car to add to my '19 Bullitt. That power, exhaust note and 4 doors? HELL YES
It’s $85K+. Most of us can’t afford it so we don’t care.
@@Juganator maybe you will one day..... big guy!
Cadillac has said that in their pre-orders its been over 50% for the Manual transmission. They should just call them The Blackwing 5 and the Blackwing 4
I seriously doubt it
@@theMLBfan lol There would be no need for them to lie about it
The blue with brown interiors and manual, is my wet dream come true 😍🚗
Can't imagine who would opt for an M5 or E63s over this, Caddy now builds the best M cars!
Both cars u mentioned are better cars all around
@@Domepeezy - Not if you plan to own it beyond the warranty expiration.
@@alanwright7819 I mean Cadillac is not a cheap brand to own, in any way. Even if it just is GM parts. This should be alright being reliable of an LS based engine. But say if you wanted a CT6-V Blackwing. Which is probably a real comparison to an M5 Comp. That new, one year engine, that has hot v styled turbos; is going to be surely costly to maintain. And I'm willing to bet(hope I'm wrong) that those turbos are going to have an issue with heat soak, especially in the turbos, just like what happened with the F10 M5's.
As an owner of 2019 Bullitt with awesome engine and exhaust note, this makes me insanely jealous. Looks and sounds amazing!!
There is always going to be a faster and better car. Good to appreciate what you have. The Bullitt is a beast.
@@TheLivedeath Absolutely, right there with you. I also daily mine, 26,000 miles in 18 months! :) I just love the uniqueness of this (much like the Bullitt), the exhaust note and 4 doors. Oh I need to win the lottery...

@@walterraulerson2986 Okay thanks for your input! /s
I hear you makes me miss my c63 as well 😞. Even though this is a level above and will walk a c63 most likely
I have always enjoyed the the laughter when you experience a car with great power and control. Also I have not purchased a car in the last 6 yrs without first looking for your review. I tend to trust you more than my family.
GM went crazy with this car. everything was executed perfectly. im also really glad they offered the manual transmission option. because not everybody wants a automatic. (me included) id definitely purchase this car if i could.
Aye there is no if I could, you can do anything you put your mind to💪🏼
Buick should make a cheaper 2 door version of this and call it the grand national.
i wanted buick to bring back the pontiac GTO but your idea sounds better
And Oldsmobile can make a 442 version?
YESSSSS
🙏
Buick doesn't build cool shit anymore.....just ugly shapeless blobs
Cadillac knocked it out the park with this. I just wish had a option for AWD. 668hp is a shit ton for just the rear wheels.
You wand awd go buy an Audi ... This car is for drivers.. AWD would make it lame
@@bkphil89 lol that’s BS you ever drive the CT6 black wing?…….it’s a amazing drivers car….if Cadillac could make a good awd system still would be a great drivers car. E63 S AMG………..New M3/M4….and plenty more still “drivers cars”. Being able to put down your power while still being able to drift around a corner is much better IMO then just lighting up your rear wheels.
@@bkphil89 I would agree. AWD actually robs horespower at launch and there is actually a delay in takoff from dead stop on my CTS V6.
Just saw one on the road yesterday in blue, beautiful car
All of the blackwing keys will match the color of the brakes on the car
That Corvette small-block pushrod V8 just sounds magnificent~~ GM really knows how to build one mean sounding V8 for the Cadillac V series cars.
I went for a spirited drive today in my old 2011 CTS-V and had a blast. So many burbles and pops through my Corsa exhaust. I must say I would really like to get a CT5-V Blackwing for sure. Thanks for the video.
This is the ultimate daddy sedan. What a car!
Great review. FYI, the key fob color is matched to the caliper color. Neat little aesthetic they did.
Absolutely love this car. I wish it were more affordable because it’s really the only thing I would trade my SS sedan for.
the new SS are nice lot of custom stuff you can do to them...I just check out pricing for the blackwing 4...let's just say you can get a widebody hellcat charger/challenger at that price
When he was on that race track. That engine and exhaust is like no other. I would love to hear it in person and l really like the look of that Caddy.
The LT4 was not in the C7 ZR1. That's the engine called LT5 and it has different superchargers and internal components that gave you at least 155 more horsepower than the standard LT4. THE C7 Z06 was the car powered by the LT4.
Great review, informative and got all the key aspects! Subscribed!
Great video, Sofyan. I enjoyed it immensely. And judging by your reaction, so did you. Have a great week.
14:35 actually, 75% of pre-orders were for the manual trans!
Source?
@@theMLBfan You’re so mad.
You have the best job ever
I’ve had one on order for a year. Can’t wait for it to come in. Ordered it with the 6 speed
M3 my a$$. This is an M5/E63 competitor. They just scared it’ll get smoked by those AWD cars. I don’t care. I want one of these. Love it. Except the C pillar.
The keys are color-matched to the brake calipers. Great review.
Oh nice
If the V was good, the Blackwing is even better!
We recently reviewed the 2021 Acura TLX Type S, a direct competitor of the CT5-V, and it doesn't seem to deliver the same level of soul-stirring enjoyment that the CT5-V does. That's partly because the Cadillac has 51 additional lb-ft of torque versus the Type S, but also because the Acura also feels heavier and less enthusiastic about in its movements... Motor Trend
Yeah, I’m a Honda/Acura fan and I’m disappointed with the Type-S. Too heavy and it’s slower than just about everyone. This Caddy is impressive.
Agreed, Acura TL feels a bit heavy around the corners plus lacking in power
Yeah I was a little disappointed in the Acura Type-S. These new Cadillac's have my attention.
Mark my words the type s will be deadly with the right tune and bolt on mods, prob will be more reliable in the long run too.
@@ILIKEANDROID69 ...and single turbo? Ha!
Man that sound 🔥 🔥🔥❤️❤️
Wow you are the BEST, when it comes to car reviews. I want one
This car is so clean. I love the color.
I definitely intend to get one. Thanks for the content.
Initial year sold out I've heard.
The nice thing with the V series is they hold their value. I think the manuals will be a nice collector car one day. That in mind I hope to daily one, lol.
I love it! I couldn't even imagine the performance. I think it's beautiful. Too bad I'll never be able to afford one☹️
Put a thousand dollars on each of these cryptos, and in 5 years you’ll have one, ADA, AND XRP.
you will these things are gonna depreciate like hell in a couple years

And get a credit card while your waiting on those cryptos so that it will be easier to finance if you need to because your credit will go up. It’s always cheaper to have good credit and more expensive to have bad credit
@@121drip3 I don't think so. Pretty sure they'll be the last of a dieing breed since Cadillac is going all electric. Collectors will be buying these up
Im from Middle East, great reviews infos edit with different camera angles 👍
That little town you drove through is Milton! I live about 15 minutes from there. So cool that y’all were here in Caswell County!
A friend of mine has one on order w a stick. This will be his 11th v series.
By the way very good narrative on the video. No mincing words kept my attention
Today Tuesday august 10 of 2021 I’m saying this car is gonna go down in history as one of the last sport sedans that are offered with a manual
Yeah, must like the Chevy SS, used going for $40-50k. I'm afraid it'll never depreciate to a level I can afford.
This will go to some rich person's garage under a tarp untouched for 30 years instead of roaming your local twisties and bends. :(
In today's automotive landscape, the CT5 Blackwing is a salmon swimming upstream. And I applaud Cadillac for it.
wow you're so fancy ;D
And the Hyundai Sonata's a catfish. 😂
When the other salmon already spawned
Nice work Cadillac. Going out with a bang!
Boss af. Definitely an amazing product
There's no replacement for displacement! Less maintenance and absolutely no turbo lag! 😍
Yes there is
To know how good a car is, you just need to see how hard Sofyan is laughing.
Sofyan: 24:22
@John Rutherford Agreed tbh. Especially this car which is geared towards an older, more professional demographic.
@John Rutherford Don't be such a sad sally
Hmmm
@John Rutherford we just need a new host
@John Rutherford He enjoys cars and we can live vicariously through him I guess... I see where you're coming from, some reviews are better than others, but have you ever accelerated in a car that was almost surreal feeling? I'd rather see a genuine reaction than a cold flat face "this vehicle is very fast for the upper-level manager."
Great work @Redline Reviews, thanks for the good video and imformation.
I get sad everytime you talk about electrification cars
Don't worry, it's the fad du jour. Not enough rare earth minerals or power available.
When you realize Cadillac upheld the classic Corvette formula (supercharged LS, RWD, manual) longer than Chevy did
They should offer an AWD option for people of the north
Man! Zero to 60 in 3.6 seconds is all I needed to know. To compare, the fastest American car ever, in 1967 at the height of the muscle car era, the AC-bodied Ford 427 SOHC side-oiler COBRA (a little over 100 were ever produced) made it to 60 in 4.2 seconds, which in g forces, is like launching a Phantom jet out of a catapult! But this car is, at 0.8 seconds, almost a second FASTER!!! I just can't believe that this thing is even street legal! It's built way more to be a legal "hot rod" than it ever was to be a luxury car. With that kind of performance, luxury is only an afterthought! Who would have ever thought (for SURE back in the '60's) that CADILLAC, in 2022, would build something this badass???
Stylistically and functionally, the manual CT5-V Blackwing seems pretty impressive. But will it hold up in reliability?
That is one special Cadillac, I would order one today in that red, with that grey interior and a manual transmission all I need is a sponsor for the 106k it will cost.
I thought the CT5 competed with the M3, TLX Type-S, Q50RS, IS-500, C63 etc... Love the car looks menacing I'd actually consider this, the spec is perfect inside and out.. 👏🏾👌🏾👏🏾✊🏾
Wow great video man. You know I’d love to see you take that to a drag strip or something
🇨🇦 That is a beautiful Car!!! I love this channel!!!
Man what camera are you using ...thats video quality is one of the best I've seen on youtube
This and that cadillac escalade V both WoW 👌 👏 put a smile 😃 on my face!!!!!!!
Very nice in every way. Good job!
I hope people buy this. It looks great.
Going electric anyway, im not sure man....we will see
If I were rich this would be my new whip.
Holy meatballs. Perfection.
That LT4 sounds so good
Agree Carbon Fiber roof would be nice brings down the weight and center of gravity. Wow sounds good that engine.
aside from the beige seat inserts this is how my old man was going to configure his 5 Blackwing, then he saw a Certified Pre Owned '17 gray ctsv in another area of the same dealership where he was configuring his 5 BW. He ended up getting the '17 ctsv because he thought it looked better plus it had the chevron shaped hood vents plus it had same powerplant and he ended up saving 20k.
Great video buddy !
Can’t wait to seee some roll races of this new V and the new m5’s and e63’s
This car is really a good car. I drive XT4 Sport. Maybe this will be my next car but my wife wants to stay with XT4 Sport. Cadillac really did good job bringing V8 and manual transmission option that are rare these days and also outstanding exterior and interior style. I hate all infotainment system covered with touch screen including HVAC system. Cadillac kept traditional HVAC buttons and I love this decision. Buy the luxury USA brand like this one.
Great review and great car as well!
Love the seats 😀 look Nice.
Sofyan this is all you baby !!!! 6 speed with that blue exterior suits you very well 👌 💪👍🏼🔥🔥🔥
Easy there...easy.
👈😛💋💋
Time to do the comparison vs M5 Competition CS, Audi S7 Quattro and Mercedes Benz AMG E63 4 doors.
Brilliant cars... absolutely genius answer to the end of gas.
It looks like you enjoying yourself I always like to see you do your reviews on these cars and thank you for sharing your thoughts about the Cadillac CT5 thank you so much and you take care
Great car, great review.
Love them🥰only thing I don't like about mine is it doesn't have a sunroof😏
Did not know Cadillac made a vehicle like this 😃
I've owned the V2 and currently own V3. I miss the carbon fiber under the hood and that fat carbon front splitter. I feel like the front end could be a bit more aggressive looking. Everything else looks good.
Needs a hood vent like the v3
The fact you got to try it out at VIR is very cool
This thing is like a hellcat that can hook!! Very mean rocket
Beautiful vehicle!
Great piece! Will this be a collectible? Cadillac is claiming only 3000 of both 4&5 BWING will be produced
The end of an era
Love how it pops in Miami Blue. I will have one
6:30 THIS is what an exhaust should sound like.
All 4-bangers sound like trash compared to this beast

With 4 more cylinders are you surprised
go back to sleep.
umm.. duh. its a supercharged v8. who the hell compares that to a Corolla engine or even turbo 4
Would love to own this car!
You have a great job ...
You are the best!
I would sell my 1st, 2nd and 3rd child and my cat for one of these. The last of an era and the best of the era. There will literally be nothing better than this to ever come out of GM or any other manufacturer thanks to electrification. Now Sofyan get me a deal on one pls 🥺
The cat also. Harsh dude. Kids I understand but not the cat.
And give my wife away with the kids 😏😂
Way 2 go buddy!
Beautiful 6-speed. Manual. Max fun. Max resale.
I love manual, I would buy it.
Looks and sounds great.
This thing sounds wicked
23:23, Limited slip differential - that's how and their traction system
This is a beauty
Was fun to watch your review and the fun 668hp will give you.
However, quite a few items that weren't quite right in your review.
- There is no 'Blackwing' badge on a Blackwing. Unless you know, it's east to mistake it for a CT5-V
- The LT4 isn't built at the Corvette plant, but the Performance Build Center (it's also in Bowling Green)
- The PDR is NOT the same one in the C8 Corvette. It is the 1st use of the Gen2 PDR from Cosworth. The C8 gets it in 2023.
- The LT4 is NOT a derivative of the LT5 in the ZR-1. It's the other way around. The LT5 is an LT4 with a larger supercharger.
- The missed 2-3 shift is very common with the -6060 until you get a feel for exactly where the gate is.
- And like others have said, the key fob color is keyed on the brake calipers.
Love it, would be looking to either fab a hood with vents or find an aftermarket one. I think it was weird of them not to add that, it almost looks like a normal ct without it. Also ambient lighting would have been nice with this price point. I don’t think it’s “making it flashy” as described so much as it being an experience provided from factory which makes the car feel that much more special, and gives you the feeling that you fully got what you paid for. Mercedes AMG/BMW M understand this well. Sports, mixed with luxury.
One of the reasons given by engineers at the briefing was that some owners didn't enjoy the engines getting dirtier from the more exposed nature of the CTS-V hood. Something about parking the car under trees.
There is ambient lighting present in even regular CT5s, so I’m not sure what you’re getting at. It’s actually the same white strip that Audi provided in my 2020 A6 2.0T, except this is much more car for my money! There may not be 78 different colors to choose from like what’s in a c63s, hence Cadillac’s statement “...not an overly flashy interior”. This is the Cadillac style. Y’all tell them to stop copying the Germans but then you complain when they don’t. If you want the flashiest interior on the market get the marked up Mercedes-Benz. If you want the most aggressive looking performance sedan, consider a Wide Body from Dodge. But The simple reality is that GM cannot and will not please every single car enthusiast with a single product. With this vehicle’s starting price point y’all are nitpicking.
@@mybro727 Do you have any cited material to show that? I’ve looked it up and there is no ambient lighting, especially these black wings. Also “much more car for my money” is subjective and particular to your standards and biases. You can’t please everyone, this is true. But for charging over $100k pretty much base, before any dealer markups which are sure to happen, I think you should consider the competitions offerings and formulate a comparable set of options for your vehicle in order to compete competently. I don’t believe AMG does “overly flashy interiors” either, for me THAT is much more car for my money. You say “pay more” for an AMG but really, this will be in the same range for pricing as the c63s, so I don’t get why you said that, it’s the basis for my comment. You get performance in a C63s, beautiful sound, technology and comfort. Jack of all trades, so when I hear “it’s the Cadillac way” I laugh a bit. The available options and features on this don’t match the price tag, that’s my point. Cadillac tells y’all that they wanted to focus on performance to make you feel tingly inside, when really they don’t want to fund R&D for those sort of features, which at that price point and with the competition it’s up against….it makes no sense to me. American sport car companies are always cheaping out in one way or another. And to be fair you’ve made a blanket statement. “Y’all tell them to stop copying the Germans but the you complain when they don’t”. When have you heard me say that in order for you to throw me in that category? Lol I definitely think they should pay closer attention. German car manufacturers understand class, form AND function, not more of one and less of the other. I’m throwing a small fit because I would love to actually try Cadillac’s V offerings, but the experience outside of just driving fast seems sub-par, and for the price tag it’s a huge shame.
All you need the the CF1 package imo
If possible could you review a ct6v. I know that you test a pre owned one. I'm considering buying one on the used market and trust your opinion
Really -want one of these.
At 24:48 You mention they are still available. All I have heard from Cadillac is the first 250 sold out and there is no plan to make any more. What is your source on this? How do I go about it? My local dealer does not seem to be much help.
I remember as a kid in the 60s and 70s you get 3 people in the front and 4 people in the back and float down the road like sitting on a cloud.
