Love the color of blue! Very cool. Better than the 10,000 shades of grey that dominate most cars nowadays. This is a nice design and it's great to see manufacturers giving enthusiast something to get excited about other than yet another heavy SUV variant. Like you said, it may be one more swan song ICE for collectors to snap up before the world goes totally EV. The styling of Caddy's is far more distinctive and appealing than Mercedes and BMWs to my mind and I'll never quite understand why they don't sell more cars, unless it's just a brand image thing. Still, all of these vehicles are so far out of reach for most buyers unless they let depreciation kick in and buy one after it's been on the market for a few years and dropped 40k in value. Wonderful and honest review, Doug. God bless Cadillac (and GM) for building this car, truly. The end of so much. Wild stuff, man. It honestly is depressing, but I am so glad it-and others (Lexus IS500, et al.)-exist, as we pass onto......?
This is a true return to form. Cadillac was THE American Luxury Car. They were Luxurious, Powerful and beautiful vehicle. Now, if i were a CEO and wanted something fun but practical, CT5-V Blackwing is the car im ordering from the Dealership
I feel like with this being last big v8 sedan that Cadillac is making, they missed a golden opportunity to throw the LT5 under the hood. 755hp would've really made a lasting impact.
Cuz ppl are looking for 500+hp cars as daily drivers, there simply not and this limited production run will be next to impossible to get your hands on and a even more powerful one would be even more rare like dodge demons and red eye challengers with super inflated prices
Engine is too tall and the 6 speed manual is not validated for that amount of power, and they are unlikely to validate a new transmission just for this car. The corvette had its 7 speed manual which mounted in the rear, once again a lot of engineering to carry it over.
Under-rated value. 8 or 9, arguably 10 considering this is the _only_ one of it's kind for sale. You can buy this car today, put 60k miles on it, and sell it for what you bought it for. Not an investment, but if you can afford to have $100k sit...

I think he misspoke, the CT5-V Blackwing accelerates to 60 in 3.6-3.7 seconds, which would be an 8/10 by his metrics. Edit: looks like the auto is 3.4s, manual is 3.6 - 3.7s.
People are going to miss these kinds of cars once they're gone. I've had the privilege to drive this car (albeit with the 10 speed), but the manual is clearly something special. I can't wait to own one someday.

Gotta love how Doug will ALWAYS sandbag any American car he reviews. He complains about a few buttons and a turn signal stalk on this Caddy, but gives the creaking interior bits on a Mercedes a free-pass. He complains about the audacity of Cadillac having actual real physical buttons for the volume and tuning, but says nothing about the god awful and just plain unsafe touchscreen interface on Audis.

For real, some of these infotainment systems are just as bad as allowing people to text and drive, almost worse I'd think. Physical buttons will always be my favorite.
He wasn't knocking the volume and tuning knobs existing, just that they're so close and nearly indistinguishable. He has a point, but I'd rather have those and get used to them that having to go through 50 screens just to change the radio station like the german infotainments.
@@electthelambda here is why his comment is so ridiculous: 3 days owning the car, you'll know exactly which one is volume and which one is tuning because it's a real physical knob and you quickly build muscle-memory. 6 years of owning my car with touchscreen controls and I still can't just use muscle-memory to click on things because there is zero tactile feedback with a screen. It's just one of Doug's endless nitpicking of any American vehicle all while giving the unreliable and overpriced Germans a free pass. It's always a backhanded compliment with his reviews. He praises the manual and the insane levels of power, but will pick at meaningless nonsense. Then he'll say OmG ThiS CaDdY cOsTs $100k, but then admit that it's tens of thousands less than cars with less power, much worse handling and shit reliability.

The Blue looks so good on a bright sunny day, it will definitely stand out from “most” of the new boring technological cars 👍
You didn't notice Doug looking in the rear view when he opened it up?
That blue will get you spotted real quick in the states. 🚔
Makes the GR86/BRZ/Miatas a great buy in comparison.
Wonderful and honest review, Doug. God bless Cadillac (and GM) for building this car, truly. The end of so much. Wild stuff, man. It honestly is depressing, but I am so glad it-and others (Lexus IS500, et al.)-exist, as we pass onto......?
I’m so thrilled Caddy is still offering these beasts. Such a perfect sedan!!
Buy it in 3 years .
the cts-v's are gone. better hurry for one of the other -v's. they make fewer and fewer with each run.
i had to read that twice- i thought you typed 'breasts'...
I love when dug explains something thats perfectly reasonable in a sarcastic voice
This is a true return to form. Cadillac was THE American Luxury Car. They were Luxurious, Powerful and beautiful vehicle. Now, if i were a CEO and wanted something fun but practical, CT5-V Blackwing is the car im ordering from the Dealership
I'm actually not a fan of GM, but this is the cooolest new car I've seen in a while!!
That thing will be lucky to get past 60k miles. GM products are trash.
Engine is too tall
Engine is too tall and the 6 speed manual is not validated for that amount of power, and they are unlikely to validate a new transmission just for this car. The corvette had its 7 speed manual which mounted in the rear, once again a lot of engineering to carry it over.
Look it up it wouldn’t fit Bc the shaker hood
@James Doolittle how the fuck?
Under-rated value. 8 or 9, arguably 10 considering this is the _only_ one of it's kind for sale. You can buy this car today, put 60k miles on it, and sell it for what you bought it for. Not an investment, but if you can afford to have $100k sit...

Someone is gonna buy this car in manual and keeps it in pristine condition for 20 years, then sell it at a 7 figures amount of money.
I don't see this reaching as high as 7 figures for any reason but easily at least double in value

The stalks are positioned that 'strange' is because it's the manual verision and thus it lacks the shift paddles found on the automatic that would be positioned in front of the stalks. They were not gonna make two different steering columns.

I have a 2015 Cadillac CTS Vsport, the twin turbo V6 version. I can only imagine what this one is like lmao. If you're the first owner or lessee of one of these, they'll actually take you to a track school and teach you how to tame this beast
What's it like to drive?
I have a 2016 CTS V-sport and this definitely interests me. I actually test drove the regular CT5-V and it didn't even feel quite as quick as our cars to me, even though the numbers are slightly better on paper. American Muscle never fails! Big engines, big power!
How can this be less beautiful from outside than an rs7 or a e63 wagon. This is stunning! At least same score

Any car manufacturer still offering supercharged engines in 2021 is worthy of respect.
Doug looks so much more engaged and having more fun when using stick shift....
Yeah, stick shifts are more engaging and fun
That's simple, that's because they are a hell of a lot more fun to drive!

@@pierredelecto7069 That belongs in 9/10.
I think he misspoke, the CT5-V Blackwing accelerates to 60 in 3.6-3.7 seconds, which would be an 8/10 by his metrics.

Dude you took the words right out of my mouth I been inside the ct5v and the interior was on par with the others it's the same song all the time think they get tired of singing it cause I'm tired of hearing it that's why I always say go and see these car's for yourself these reviewers will have you lost in the sauce
For real, some of these infotainment systems are just as bad as allowing people to text and drive, almost worse I'd think. Physical buttons will always be my favorite.
Don't feel bad, he also hates Lexus.
