Thanks for this video. One suggested edit/tip. After also struggling with those plastic rings holding the handle base, I discovered an easier method. If you loosen the white washer/nuts underneath the sink, you're able to raise the handle stems away from the base. This gives clearance to just pop the ring off by hand while keeping it intact. So much easier. Cheers
I am amazed how difficult Delta made this process. I wouldn’t wish this on any homeowner. With this video I will TRY this because we had this house for 14 years and most of the things are failing. I have already ruined the faucets out of pure frustration. Thanks for giving me some hope. Great Video!
Thanks a lot for this tutorial. I have the same Delta faucets in my rental property about 22 years of age. My case was even worse, the set screw to the faucet handle is stuck or stripped, so I had to drill it through. It took me about half an hour to drill through each set crew, and I did three set crews for two faucets, it was very hard. I had the same problem for removing the hot side base ring, and I used drill bit to pierce through the O-ring. Once the base rings were off, the bottom T-bar under the sink just dropped off by itself in my case. Anyway, I just want to provide my feedback to help those who need to go through this job. It was painful, but I felt very satisfied after removing the old faucets and installed new ones. Today’s faucets are much easier to install and remove.
Thank you ao much You saved me from being stuck with half removed faucet. Although mine isn't same model but your important points helped finally removed. Although it took 8 hours from beginning to finish, it is better than in a limbo and have to wait for a plumber next day. One last tip, the ring at 9:26 is soft and it stuck with all the corrosion. I had to use light grip wrench to remove, too hard it grips the entire thing. Thanks
Thanks so much for sharing this video. I spent 3 hours trying to figure out leaks coming from underneath faucet. Now I know I'll have to also replace rubber o-ring that connects both hot&cold supplies to middle outlet as well as rubber gaskets under each faucet.
Thank you so much for this video. Had to take apart a very similar but way more corroded Delta faucet and this helped tremendously! As if the that bar wasn't hard enough to remove with 3" of space to work with under there, the nut holding the main faucet would not budge and none of the wrenches could reach in that tight space. Out of frustration I just twisted the main faucet from on top while holding the lower ring with a wrench and this was enough to crack the nut of out years of corrosion and from there it just screwed right off. Never buying Delta again, not only did the old faucet leak but the corrosion all over the inside was horrific, not to mention the sadistic mounts they use.
This video saved so much of my time. I was trying to unscrew the plastic tighteners under the counter and failed miserably. Then found this video, everything goes well afterwards.
Glad I found this video. Thanks so much for making it. Would’ve never guessed the worlds smallest Allen head screws we’re holding it all together. Almost got my sledge out. Now on to the next issue, removing my matching drain…
Thanks for the video and pointers! I couldn’t get that plastic ring out!! The comment tip regarding using a finishing nail did the trick for me too! I bent the tip 90-deg and was then able to pry it out fairly easily.. the metal nuts on the inside of each handle was also difficult to loosen, until I gave them a bath of WD-40...
I would never have been able to remove my faucet without watching this video. Finding this video ended up saving me $300 that I would've given to a plumber. Thank you for posting this!
Man I want to give you a hug right now...…. This video was so helpful. I was beginning to pull my hair out. If I could buy you a drink right now I would.
Thank you macdaddypimpping. So glad I found this video! It saved me hours trying to figure out how to remove the faucet. The fixture came with the house, won't be buying Delta faucets!
thank you . i have the same set up. and wasn't sure how to remove the spot. your video was great in explaining how to do it. now i feel confident on doing the job. thank you
This helped me a lot! I have the same old thing. I would have never figured this out by myself, I was ready to use my metal saw tool to cut it apart! Thanks!
@@macdaddypimpping so would it be best to get both cartridges since i dont know? i looked it up n they were talkin about the Aerator. my delta faucet doesnt look like the one in this video.
Also a trick I learned is after you get that white gasket out and everything off on top you can tap it on both sides and it will fall thru so you don’t have to pull it thru underneath.
hey there. What is the trick to removing the bolt holding the spout and the bolt holding the drain? Mine is rusted and seized on there and I’m just over it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! THIS VIDEO WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL! Those round/white pieces of plastic, really are a pain in the butt. I had the same problem on the hot water side.....it was so incredibly difficult to remove it!!
Thanks for the help, I might have lost my mind without it.. A two hour job took all weekend but I finally got it. My take away after all this? Never ever buy a Delta faucet again. They usually leak and are near impossible to change. There is a hot spot in hell for the engineers at Delta.
Super useful video, got most of this stupid thing uninstalled, but... How the heck did you break that center nut off from underneath. Basin wrench, slotted wrench, penetrating oil... I just can't get a good grip on it. The corrosion is a bit worse than this example and it won't budge at all. Someone in the comments mentioned locking a wrench on from underneath and twisting the faucet, so that's what I'll try next. All I know for certain, I will NEVER buy Delta.
Yank the faucet from the top back and forth and eventually you will get the nut loose, unless it's super tight then you will need to spray penetrating oil.
That plastic ring was impossible to remove. I had to use a small screwdriver and hammer to cut it into smaller bits and take them out in chunks. 1st faucet took 2 hours to remove but 2nd one only took 30mins.
Thanks so much for this video. Delta provided nothing even close to useful. I just want to remove this POS so I can install a nicer faucet and a new drain. You saved me a lot of misery. Thanks again. I'll suscribe.
Does anyone know if there is a proper way to remove that plastic insert without damaging it? All parts should be able to come off without damaging its original parts....I'd think.
Delta certainly OVER-engineered the mechanics of assembly/disassembly. Wish they’d engineer a faucet not prone to leaking, but why be logical when you can be more profitable. Thanks for the crucial “plastic insert” segment!! Now I’m trying to figure out why they designed such a horrible drainspout!!
Delta has the worst design I've ever seen for these things. The cartridges always leak after 5 years and uninstalling them is absolutely ridiculous. I had to watch this video to figure out how to remove the bar under the sink. It's just another place that could have been leaking.
This is the most ridiculously over engineered faucet I’ve ever seen. Probably designed this way to prevent the average DIYer from replacing parts. I’ll never buy another Delta faucet. I removed mine with a sawzall BTW. I was replacing the faucet anyway.
Thank you for this comprehensive Video, helped greatly. The entire removal is a Nightmare. Those plastic Rings are near Impossible to remove! I had to make a hook tool from a #8 Finishing nail, pounded the end flat, filed it to a narrow point, bent the point a near 90 degree angle, held it with a small Vise grip, very tedious to remove. Will stay Away from Delta
FINALLY a video that shows how to remove that stupid T valve!! Thank you!!
You're welcome!
IKR - so good

@@macdaddypimppingI wish I had that video. That’s what im struggling with right now and I have 3 sinks to get out
Great video!! Thank you so much! Had to watch on 2x speed though

Thank you for the video. I was ready to take a sledgehammer to the faucet and the granite countertop!
Lol, yes that was how I felt that's why I made this video.
Thank you so much for the video. I have been puzzled for hours as for how to take the faucet off. You saved my day!

i have a delta faucet. mine is dripping(not from the handles) from where the water comes out. need to know how to fix
You will need to change either the cold side or the hot side cartridge/valve at the handle that is bad. Here: ua-cam.com/video/4Bl1hxhYyLk/v-deo.html
