This is the best step-by-step explanation. I liked that it shows both the new and the old parts. Mine just didn't look right (other than being old and leaking) until I actually stopped and examined the parts. Also, the name and number of the parts package you bought was so helpful. Thank you so much for your effort in putting this together for those of us like me who gets scared at the prospect of this kind of job. It also helped steer me in the right direction in buying handles too.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing! We make these videos specifically to help and encourage people to take on tasks and hopefully save them time and money. Your comment means so much!
Thank you so much, I totally got stuck with the corrosion in the handle and your video helped me figure out that I just needed to keep pulling and prying until the handle came loose.
Thank you im sure i can do that a friend told me i probably needed a whole new faucet after watching this I really don’t think I need a new one it’s doing exactly what the one in this video is doing it’s leaking from the base wish me luck
Excellent video. In my case getting the set screw out was NOT easy. It got badly stripped by various Alan keys. After a day of trying different methods to no avail, and as a last effort before drilling the screw out, I decided to try gently hammering a Torx bit into the set screw, that with plenty of force got the darn set screw to move. Felt like the end of a marathon :). Now, heading to Homedepot to get a new cartridge, set screw, and washer. Thanks for posting this video.
I have really, really hard water and this fix needed to take place for the last couple of years but hubby had cancer and I didn't think to check youtube. I thought that I would have to go under sink, etc and didn't realize, with tutorials, how easy it would be. Back to hard water... is there any lubricant or unlock-type spray that I can place where 3/32 allen wrench goes??? I don't want to strip that bugger when I put the little hex wrench.
When I removed the valve and the spring/gasket, I have water ever so slowly coming up out of the spring hole. Would that mean I need to replace the shut off valve below the sink?
I finally found this after 2 days search. I have the same model and i lost the little screw in the drain. Can you please let me know what is the part number of that little screw?
RP25513-3 isn't universal I assume. One would need to take it apart first to identify what kind of replacement part to buy? Or can you just buy a few from the hardware store. Take it apart, and return whatever parts were not a match?
This should fit deltas with this handle configuration, but I do find it easier to buy extra and return what I don't need, that way I'm not running to the store mid project. Especially when I do a plumbing fix.
Can you comment on how to best align the cartridge to make sure it makes a 1/4 turn on both the hot and cold water. How to place that extra plastic piece in the cartridge
The cartridge has little tags that will help you align it to the base so that the handle will sit correctly. Then on mine the extra plastic piece that stops the handle from completely rotating sides into the front (it is a perfect fit so it should slide into the proper place) Hopefully, this helps!
So this link is for the Delta LEFT (HOT) side, correct? I happen to have the exact leak, on the exact Delta product, on the left (hot) side so I want to make sure before I order it.
I’m trying to remember back to when I did this, but I believe they are the same that’s why the small plastic pieces and be switched so the handle operates properly.
What does it mean when you turn the water source back on, and water comes out of the faucet regardless the position of the handle? Asking for a friend.
Plumber said I need a new faucet because you cannot see the name of the faucet to get parts for the faucet drip. That seems like excess for a leaking faucet...It has similar spacing as in your video.
You can use something like PB Blaster or WD40 to help loosen it. Just test a small area to make sure that it doesn't ruin the finish of the handle, but in my experience, I have not had that issue.
Thanks for this step by step video. Very helpful. Does this same replacement item work with any delta model? (My handle/faucet has a different design but I'm wondering if the parts are interchangeable/the same?)
They should be universal for the delta bathroom faucets, but I did hear that some of the older models actually had a specific left and right cartridge that was slightly different. You should be good but I would recommend calling delta to double check. The number is 1.800.345.3358
Thanks for sharing, bathrooms can be tight for filming but hopefully you were able to get a good enough idea to complete your repair! Thanks for watching
@@BusyBeeLiving imajine my faucet does not have one i wish i could show you a picture i looked all over the handles everywhere do you think it needs to be loosened from under the sink where the shut off values are under the cabinet
@@lorraincassesso1611 you can dm some pictures either through email or on my Instagram and I’ll take a look at it, but it should have some access on the top.
@@lorraincassesso1611 Might it be one of those handles with the snap on flat covers over the top of handle?? when you pop that off, it uncovers a phillips screw that allows you to take off the handle
In reality it takes 2 hours just to get the handle piece off and the stem out, only to find out you have no idea what the part number is and at Lowe’s or ace they are no help since “most people just replace the whole faucet.”

Thank you so much for this video. I just now fixed my leaking tap thanks to you. Much appreciated.
That's awesome, so glad it was helpful!
Cool video, just noticed my bathroom faucet leaking, this helped because I had no idea what a cartridge was before today

Plumbing jobs always like to throw us curve balls. Glad to hear you were able to overcome your issue and get the job done. Thanks for sharing!
Mine got stripped as well and I used a #6 extraction bit, and it came out with ease!
This was so helpful. Mine came right out and went back in with no corrosion or leaks!
Awesome! Sounds like your one of the few lucky ones!
The sped up noises are really satisfying.
Lol, can you image if these videos didn’t have the speed up option… these plumbing videos could be hours long! 😂
Simple and straight to the point explanation.
Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I'm going to try this later today.
Thanks for watching and hopefully it helped you get your project done!

These should fit but double check the size to make sure. RP25620 Link- amzn.to/3Cf6fr2
..my first search result. 😅
It's been a year, but any new readers, you can retrieve it out of the PTrap under the sink
Thanks for posting, made the job super simple.

how do we know what kind of faucet we have and what piece to get? I've had a leak for a while.. now got it apart but no idea on brand or anything
On the bottom of the faucet neck it should show the brand. Then you can search for the proper cartridge for that brand.

You could open up the handle and see if you can make out a part number on the cartridge. Sometimes they put it on the brass.

I did all those steps. However my sink is now not turning off completely and it dripping …
Why not just replace the o rings?
Yes, sometimes replacing the seals or o rings will fix it. I usually just replace the cartridge and call it a day.
It looks like you didn’t see the handle all the way.
Probably the camera angle
Put never seize on the screws when reinstalling..... you'll thank me later.
Nice tip!

There should be a small nut that takes and allen wrench to remove that handle cover

The screw is stripped. FML.
Those cartridges are unnecessary to the function of a traditional knob. Its just another feature that is a running money scam
