1. Stop constantly wearing buns/ponytails 2. Less protective styles/ less heat 3. Wear more wash'n' go's 4. Add more light proteins 5. Cut off straight piece of hair
I wear more wash n goes and wash every 4-5 days and saw the greatest amount of growth!! To alleviate the knotting I shingle and use a blow dryer to slightly stretch my hair... now that its winter i sit under my hooded dryer.
I primarily wear wash n go’s so the constant wetting was causing hygral fatigue and over- conditioning my hair. I now “set” my wash n go’s by adding a very hydrating primer (rose water spritz) after rinsing out my deep conditioner. I then seal the moisture in with a generous application of gel or a styling leave-in. I don’t re-wet my hair for a few days while wearing the style. It remains moisturized and shiny. I also make sure my stylers or leave-ins have some type of strengthening ingredient like keratin or marshmallow root or slippery elm. For conditioning, I avoid using too many because they create a fabric softener effect on my hair and weigh the texture down even more. I stick to a balancing conditioner 80% of the time by Elucence, and only use a moisturizing deep conditioner or protein deep conditioner when my hair really needs it. Finally, I rotate the wash n’ go with a loose bun done on damp hair, lightly stretched with loose twists after washing. After watching this, I will be doing less of these buns to prevent over stretching.
I just did a wash and go for the first time today in years. Wearing twists has caused so much damage to my hair so trying to change it up. Love watching your channel. Inspiring me not to give up on my hair. Been dusting my ends pretty much every week. I know that's excessive but my curl pattern is finally coming back in and it's evening out my split ends. I have several different textures throughout my hair so it's hard lol
After a lot of health issues my hair went straight. I'm in the process of doing the wash and go (letting hair dry from being almost sopping wet) which seems to be the fastest way to bring it back (I have fine hair).
I think this is what I have!😱 I would put my hair into a TIGHT ponytail both wet and dry, for YEARS. I’m 4 months into my transition and with my curly roots and ends I can see how stretches out the middle is. I will eventually cut it when my hair grows longer but thank you for this very informative video!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! I haven't used chemicals or heat for years but my curls in the front were slowly straightening exactly like yours. I've always hated how short my hair was and stretched it as much as possible to fight my shrinkage. I would do banding, twist outs, and weigh it down with crazy amounts of gel as well as wearing tight buns and ponytails. Now I know why my hair looks the way it does. I had also stopped using protein altogether when I noticed my hair's sensitivity to it. Now, I've trimmed the very damaged parts, added protein to my regimen, and cut out any stretching or high-manipulation styles. I've also been finger curling the front bangs with every wash to encourage definition. My hair looks exactly like yours @0:35 and I want my curls back!
I’m dominican and my hair was around 2c it was also a little dry I always had A LOT of hair and super long I always got a lot of comments about how “messy” my hair was and I didn’t feel comfortable so I started straightening my hair and I did this for years now I’ve completely lost my curl pattern and my hair is just completely straight. I’ve learned to love my hair the way it was and now I want my curl pattern back 😭 this was helpful!
I'm dealing with this issue now. I was wearing my hair in ponytails and dying my grays. My front is a different texture already an now certain areas are super straight with curly roots. I'm going to incorporate some of these tips. This video was very informative.
Omg. I needed this info. My curls feels 'thin' and not so curly as it was before since I always have to wear a ponytail at work and not to mention its still wet from showering. I hope these tips work so I can get my curls back. Thanks for these tips!
I have the opposite problem, my curls are more defined in the front than they are in the back :/. I noticed my curl pattern loosened quite a bit during quarantine cuz of hair dye (I tried to dye it back to brown & it came out black so I dyed it like three more times 🤦🏽♀️ I know... I know) & stretching it out all the time to brush it. Def will keep your tips in mind. I already got most of it cut, but I feel like I might need a second big chop to really start over 😩 idk how to deal w/short hair so I tend to always put it in a bun or push it back. Imma try not to do that this time around 🥴🤞🏼
My hair was loose in the front, then miraculously went back to springy curls. I didn't know what I'd done for them to come back ( I usually cut off the loose curls in the front every year😩). I'm glad you got to the bottom of this. Now I know consistent wash-n-gos and incorporating more protein in my regimen brought them back. Thanks for sharing this!
I can TRULY relate to this video, but still trying to figure it out. I too have always had looser hair on the top and sides. Loosing my curl pattern seemed to have happened suddenly or I am just realizing the problem. I think washing then twisting my hair, and leaving it in twists may have caused the problem. Perhaps using henna.. My hair has been breaking off like crazy. Due to covid-19 and working remote, I don't take out the twists at all unless I go to "in person" church, which was hardly ever for 2 years. I used Aphogee for the first time, last week and again today. I have lost my curl pattern in the front and sides. It looks a mess, and I twist the top and sides because there is no bounce nor pattern. My sides are too too long and straight. I think I will try wash and goes, which I never do and take my hair out daily or more often. Still trying to figure it out. Lots to think 🤔 about. Thanks 😊
How i restored my curly hair that i never knew i had... 1. Completely cut out all heat products 2. Used little shampoo (dime size amount) 3. I never use any gels nor tightly style my hair 4 I only brush it like every 2 weeks right before a shower. I have 2a-2c hair! And i listened to Brad Mondo for most of my information that has saved my hair.
I think I’ve started to do this to my hair from wearing it in two strands twists for YEARS (as my weekly style) . I think I’ll start doing wash and gos and elasticity treatments before I permanently ruin my kinks and coils as I’ve noticed a few strands have stopped shrinking. My shrinkage is 80 percent so they’re really noticeable. I have never ever worn or attempted a wash and go in all my 19 years of life but, since since we have the same porosity but different textures I’ll figure it out through your videos.
Hi great video! 😊 I have the same issue with loose curl pattern in front. My hair is recovering from protein overload. how often do you do a protein treatment? Thanks
Same here. Just recently happened, and I’ve always wore buns but I would switch between a curly Afro and buns/ponytails. I can’t really wear my afro now, I may cut it so I can regain my curl pattern in the middle.
I'm going through this exact problem right now. Years of dying my hair black, then bleaching it has left me with frayed ends. On top of wearing very tight buns, I started to get incomplete split ends in my hair which altered my curl pattern near my hairline and by my ears. I've decided to incorporate to do Olaplex treatments every two weeks and wearing protective styles while I slowly trim away the damage.
@@IydaMichael From what I've read, its not a protein treatment, instead it is a hair rebonding treatment to reduce breakage on chemically-treated or heat-styled hair. Its lightweight in strength and not harsh. I've used it twice now.
So, I have the opposite problem. My hair curls wonderfully in front; it’s the back that doesn’t curl. I did the big chop a month ago, but am still seeing very little results at the root. Should I just accept that I’ve permanently stretched it out?
I just discovered my shampoo (V05) was actually damaging my hair, and decided to switch to Pantene’s rose water hydrating shampoo and added some chebe oil to the bottle. Conditioned with Garnier’s whole blends oat delicacy conditioner, and deep conditioned with Crème of Nature’s strengthening hair masque. What a huge difference 😊
Your video was very helpful:) you also helped me to see that when it comes to taking care of your hair it's about balance! Because I'm low porosity we're taught not to use protein! But just like you said I noticed when I trimmed off my dtraight pieces started adding more protein in my hair regimen, my hair looked better, had more bounce, and I have more curl definition! Oh yes I've had the same issue I had straight ends, and a looser curl pattern in the front of my hair! But I trimmed my ends and my hair feels so much more healthier:) Great video Iyda!
So my hair currently looks like your hair before. So should I just from now on do wash n go? Because like you said having straighter pieces in the front can really ruin the whole look 😩 it's get so frustrating and makes me want to cry because I feel like my hair looks ugly. Trust the bun was my go to for MONTHS! Alright I'm going to try it and I'll be back in like a month 😭

Thanks Lyda. I'm a white Italian girl and I've had naturally tight curly hair my whole life. I didn't like it as a kid, but as SOON as I got divorced I threw out all the ironing (he was shorter than me and wanted us to look like Sonny & Cher when they were young.) I just washed and went. I loved it for 55 years. Curly. I grew it long enough to put on my head & have curls all over the place. I got cancer last year and all if a sudden my hair is like straw. It's not silky straight, but it doesn't curl. I'm letting it grow again and see what I can do. ❤️
I'm going through this issue now! I looks like I'll need to cut a significant amount of hair in the front. I'm wondering if I could cut deep bangs. But I'm concerned about the commitment it would take to only rock wash and goes. Weighing the scales... This video was very helpful.
Hi! So do si have to cut all the damage ? I’ve been wearing slick ponytails for over 2 years and my bang curls and back curls are completely loosened. DonI have to get it cu completely or can I get my curl pattern back by puttin on protein?
I’m not sure if you said it but what did you use for your wash in go? The eco clear and mixed chicks leave in? Lol I won’t be able to see the whole video. I’ve been loving the aphogee keratin spray for quick protein fixes!
For my Wash n Go, I use Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion Leave In Conditioner, then a little bit of mixed chicks leave in and then Xtreme Wetline Gel but since I ran out I am using EcoStyler but I cant use too much of it because I will get protein overload.
You literally said exactly how I feel! I pull my hair back everyday bc im in the Air Force and the front of my hair is wavy and the crown-back is curly): I cant do wash and gos bc it DEFINITELY ruins the look. I am going to try protein treatments! Wish me luck 😅
That thing abt having too much moisture and not enough protein might be my problem!!!! I have curly hair but idk how curly bc my hair has gone through damage for years. BUT for the past three years my hair has FINALLYYYYY gottan to be super healthy again. But I also have thick hair too!! I couldn’t figure out what was wrong bc it was so healthy but that moisture and protein might just be it thank you thank you thank you
Hey talking about wash n go’s which eco styler did you say you use for low porosity & protein sensitive hair? (wetline is so hard to get in the UK, basically does not exist)
Try the Ampro Coconut Clear Ice Gel, its protein free. If you can't get that one, the best ecostler gel for me is the Argan One. But I cant use it too much because of the protein.
I will start doing the methods you discussed. But my hair is EXACTLY what you've described and for a while I thought maybe it's just looser in the front! But it's true you don't wanna wear wash n gos because it looks like 2 different heads of hair on your hair! Smhlol So you do the protective styles (twists, braids, etc) which is just a vicious cycle. I will try the aphogee 2 step but I have a feeling eventually have to cut it. :-( Great job!
Hi Iyda. Thank you very much for ur informative videos. I been natural for almost 5 years now. My hair always feels dry especially my ends. My hair has not grown for the last year. I dont know what type hair i have, although i think i have low porosity hair. My last washday was a disasters, i pre poo with mix of oils, washed my hair with a Cleaning shampoo, conditioned it, used a mask under de steam for 30 min. And when i rinsed it with rice water and was ready to twist my hair, it was so dry I wanted to cry. Please help me what did i do wrong. Thank u in advance
Hi Iloisa. I think the rice water may have been the problem. My sister and I both tried it once and never again. Felt like straw. It was horrible. Never again.
You are always so thorough in your videos! I try to monitor and observe my hair and I haven’t noticed any issues with my curl pattern, but I will definitely be on the lookout and utilize your tips if I need to. My curls are looser in the front of my hair as well. I’ve got about 3 different curl patterns going on.
Buns or ponytails are controversial for whether they are good for the hair or not. I do the curly girl method and have my hair in a loose bun everyday. My curl pattern has actually come back and looks pretty nice
I think loose ponytails are fine, wearing your hair in tight ponytails for long periods of time all the time may potentially cause hair damage or loosened curls. Thank you so much for sharing and I am happy to hear that your hair is doing well :)
My hair naturally curly. So I don't have to use to much things in my hair. Maybe a little gel that's it.And it all depend cause it fall so have to be careful.
Hello! I have a video on my wash n go routine if you want more detail, but the products I used are: Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion Leave In, Mixed Chicks Leave In to seal and EcoStyler or Wetline Gel. Details in the description box.
my issue is, my hair is more curly in the front, & isn’t as curly in the back. it’s curly in front around my face but in the back it’s more wavy & frizzy. what can i do?
I literally don’t do anything to my hair but deep condition and twist it weekly and my curls are gone🥺😭😢 I don’t like how my wash n go look. It’s been like this ever since I was pregnant.
Thanks for sharing ! My hair texture is medium plus i color my hair seems like damage my hair .so right now have not done nothing to it really falling out so have to wait and see its really sensitive . have to wait before i start getting my hair back again.so let see .what happens
Thanks so sharing! I think you are talking about single strand knots? I actually don't experience them at all and I think it usually happens with people with fine texture hair! But yes, you're right, have to be careful if your hair is prone to knots! :)
Weird but I find that I get far less fairy/single strand knots when I do wash n go's since each strand is in a uniformed curl and stays like that until wash day. I've tried wearing stretched styles and my ends were literally trash, I had do do trims almost every three months which sucks since I'm trying to grow my hair to certain length. Overall, I think reducing tangling with wash n go's can be done by deep conditioning your hair more often to increase your hair hydration level and reduce frizziness, using a gel for your WnG's as well as avoiding overmanipulation of your strands once the curls are set.
I absolutely destroyed my curls😭😭 I bleach every three months, constantly straiten it, no idea how to style curls or condition properly so I just put it in a tight bun. NEVER AGAIN. watch me shave this mess off.
If im not mistaken you said you dont use a steamer but how to you get the moisture into your hair then ?? Sorry im new to all this low prosperity thing and i just found out im low prosperity two weeks ago so im trying to figure out how to handle my hair
But I hate wash and gos :( but this was super helpful. I live in my high pony puff...and now I'm beginning to think its the reason why the bang area of my hair has such a loose curl pattern.
I had curly hair when I was around 2 but my dad cut it and it ruined my hair texture and like since I've been in 5th ive been getting perms, I'm in 7th. How my hair is now my roots are curly (it's been like this for like 2 months, aka sive ive stopped perming and flat ironing) anf te rest is straight but when I put in Cantu curly stuff my hair curls, does that mean my hair is comin back

You gave me hope to get my daughters curls back. Im not putting her hair up any more at all!
Around how long did it take for your curls to revert back in the front?
I’m not sure if you said it but what did you use for your wash in go? The eco clear and mixed chicks leave in? Lol I won’t be able to see the whole video. I’ve been loving the aphogee keratin spray for quick protein fixes!
For my Wash n Go, I use Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion Leave In Conditioner, then a little bit of mixed chicks leave in and then Xtreme Wetline Gel but since I ran out I am using EcoStyler but I cant use too much of it because I will get protein overload.
Iyda Michael hey thank you so much! Man I’ve been loving wetline too! Thank you so much!!!
Esiri Eya'ufe it is always out of stock whenever i’m ready to buy
I've tried aunt Jackie's flaxeed don't shrink gel for the first time today for this very reason. Wash and go not fully dried yet but looks good.
Try the Ampro Coconut Clear Ice Gel, its protein free. If you can't get that one, the best ecostler gel for me is the Argan One. But I cant use it too much because of the protein.
Your hair looks really good! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks beautiful :)
I had curls just like yours and mine are now how yours were how long did it take you to get back to your curl pattern now?
Girl your before curls in the front is EXACTLY what mines looks like now....Ughhhhhhh. Bless!
Great to see your curls and your channel thriving.🤞🏽for Sephora!🙂
Thank you Maria! :)
hi I just wanted to know how you cut off the hair because if I cut off all the straight pieces my hair would not look good at all
You gotta risk it it’s health over length I did it and I like it if u don’t like it just wear it in a bun
Great tips! The top section/layer of my hair is looser than the rest of my hair (so annoying)
Desi Lake thank u very much for ur reply. I washed my hair this weekend and left out the rice water it definitely helped, thank u
Thanks so much girl! Yes I no longer wait until it gets bad, a little observation here and there goes a long way!
What camera do you use the quality is great!
Thank you! I use the Canon SL2! But I wish I purchased the Canon 80D much better but a little more expensive!
Such good info! Thanks for sharing. & your curls on POPPIN’ 😍🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
My hair texture is just like yours what is your hair type
Needed this love thank you ❤️
How long did it take for it to get back to normal
My 12 year old daughter has the same problem. Her bangs lost its curl and she wants me to chop her hair off.
Your hair looks great, wonderful video
Thanks Kim! :)
Your hair looks amazing 💖
I have 2c/3a hair but one patch in the front is 2a it’s soo annoying
Hey I have a question so for the lco method what’s your c is it a hair butter ?
My hair naturally curly. So I don't have to use to much things in my hair. Maybe a little gel that's it.And it all depend cause it fall so have to be careful.
Please share the products you used for wash and go when you did this video. Thank you
Hello! I have a video on my wash n go routine if you want more detail, but the products I used are: Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion Leave In, Mixed Chicks Leave In to seal and EcoStyler or Wetline Gel. Details in the description box.
How do you prevent single strand knots when you wash n go so much
I have 3a 3b hair and some strands of hair is straight and some the top is straight and the bottom curly
What do you think of the rice water trend would you try it?
I actually have a video all about Rice Water! But I don't think I will be trying it out!
my issue is, my hair is more curly in the front, & isn’t as curly in the back. it’s curly in front around my face but in the back it’s more wavy & frizzy. what can i do?
hi after a year did u resolve this issue? facing the same problem rn
How many times can you say protein in a video
I literally don’t do anything to my hair but deep condition and twist it weekly and my curls are gone🥺😭😢 I don’t like how my wash n go look. It’s been like this ever since I was pregnant.
I think you may have moisture overload and need more protein in your hair. Check out my latest video for more detailed info ❤️

My hair gets too tangled in wash n gos
Hey babes! Ok i am.gonna try out the tgin super moist leave in. Say a prayer for this hair of mines lolol
Thanks for sharing ! My hair texture is medium plus i color my hair seems like damage my hair .so right now have not done nothing to it really falling out so have to wait and see its really sensitive . have to wait before i start getting my hair back again.so let see .what happens
If you do a lot of wash n go’s that may cause you to have a lot of fairy knots. (If you don’t know what it is look it up)
Thanks so sharing!
I dont get many bc I shingle and stretch my hair w/ a blow dryer.
I only get know when I DON'T wear a wash and go
Hair twin!
my hair went from 3c to a 4b-4c and i want it back
I absolutely destroyed my curls😭😭 I bleach every three months, constantly straiten it, no idea how to style curls or condition properly so I just put it in a tight bun.
Some kind of heat like a hooded dryer or hothead cap or something that sits on your head and connects to a blow dryer...
Yes I use a hooded hair dryer, the one I use is the purple one from Hot Tools
Thank u Adu
You have 4a hair
Thank you!! People think Im lying about my curl pattern and say its type 3!
I see your roommate needed that gel real quick. Lol
I tried protein treatment and my hair fell out. I mean I lost INCHES!!!!
I agree the protein she mentioned is what I use it does nothing for me
Hair twins for real!
Yay hair twins! :)
Thank u so much sweetheart.
Shrinkage means the hair is healthy
But I hate wash and gos :( but this was super helpful. I live in my high pony puff...and now I'm beginning to think its the reason why the bang area of my hair has such a loose curl pattern.
I had curly hair when I was around 2 but my dad cut it and it ruined my hair texture and like since I've been in 5th ive been getting perms, I'm in 7th. How my hair is now my roots are curly (it's been like this for like 2 months, aka sive ive stopped perming and flat ironing) anf te rest is straight but when I put in Cantu curly stuff my hair curls, does that mean my hair is comin back
Notification gang gang

Hey I’m a white person who had natural 3C hair but the lack of protection to my hair had made my curls die so I’m just here
