    Hey everyone! I pray that you and your loved ones are doing well! heart ❤️ Please share your thoughts and feedback with using different types of protein on your protein sensitive, low porosity natural hair! New hair routine coming soon but your girl is using protein a little more now than I used to mainly because I have been able to reach higher moisturization levels and retention in my hair which I explain in more detail in the video! xoxo 💋

      I’m now experimenting with Ayurvedic products which Ayurvedic ingredients act as protein.

    • @IydaMichael
      @IydaMichael  2 роки тому

      @@cutenobi that’s amazing! I was hesitant in trying out Ayurvedic ingredients because a lot of them are high in protein but fenugreek has the least amount of protein I believe than most of them and even then I have to be careful with how much I put on my hair but I really want to lean more to using natural hair ingredients! Keep me posted on your findings and thank you for sharing ♥️

      Iyda Michael I now have PTSD from fenugreek diy’s. Lol. My bra strap length hair fell out from fenugreek protein overload. I thought I was careful. Thankfully, I have recovered and have minimized diy’s and I am learning to listen to my hair. I will only buy Ayurvedic products that are already ready to use like brands such as Soultanicals and Negas Banda. But I still use that products sparingly.

    • @cutenobi
      @cutenobi 2 роки тому

      @@tomasmehari3326 I bought a facial steamer a couple of months ago and I use it regularly only for hair. I use it for myself and my kids. It helps with detangling hair and helping the hair absorb the product. It’s best to get a facial steamer with an adjustable nozzle. Some UA-camrs recommend not to use the facial steamer on hair often. Now that my hair is hydrated, I use the facial steamer indirectly; it’s just on nearby just in case I need extra moisture.

    Our hair is almost identical but I found that my secret weapon to slip in protein is to actually use a shampoo with protein. At first I thought it was counter-intuitive to use something stripping with protein but it dawned on me that the cleansing and rinsing process of shampooing could actually prevent too much protein deposit.

    • @IydaMichael
      @IydaMichael  2 роки тому +5

      Wow that is impressive, I really like that analysis and I’m gonna try it next! It’s funny because I avoid shampoos with protein the most because I’ve had some pretty bad experiences in the past where I noticed that I would get the worst protein overload from shampoos so I haven’t tried ever since and that was probably 2-3 years ago 🤭 but I think I have to revisit it because now that my hair needs a bit more protein than before, that might even be a shampoo/prepoo/protein treatment in one product 😀 after years of being natural, I’m all about simplifying my hair routine 😅☺️

    • @Sloppyjoey1
      @Sloppyjoey1 2 роки тому +5

      @@IydaMichael I swear by it! You unintentionally gave me the idea too! You once said "I can only used Eco Styler a couple times before getting overload" and by trying Olaplex and fresh Aloe as prepoo's without overload.
      It instantly clicked in my head that protein's probably easier to manage at the cleansing steps hence Bond Curl / Olaplex etc. And since shampoo's are meant to clean and only leave trace ingredients behind I gave it a shot.
      I would bet my bottom dollar on the Design Essentials Almond & Avocado shampoo. I have Coarse 4A low porosity / protein sensitive Eritrean hair lol

    This is so helpful!!!! I think my hair used to be REALLY protein sensitive when I lived in a colder climate and was using so many proteins in my hair products and had no idea that they even had proteins 😆. To top it off I was doing so many wash and gos and so my hair stayed the same length for years because of all of this. My hair was so hard and tough, and was really difficult to detangle. But, over the last couple of years- living in a warmer climate again, leaving my hair in a lot more protective styles, and using barely any protein in my hair care products - it has been growing so much! When you said your hair curl pattern was not as defined as it used to be - that's exactly what I've been experiencing lately! I'll have to try introducing a bit more proteins into my routine again. Thanks so much!

    Thankyou so much for this video because I was researching the whole day whether you can use products with minimal amounts of coconut oil on low porosity hair and couldn't find an answer. People were also saying it's a protein and I didn't believe that but the amount of misinformation products is so annoying and frustrating. So thankyou for this because It's also taught me using products with a minimal amount of coconut oil may or may not work for my hair but i'm just going to test it out and see now that I know that it can work and is safe for many people with low porosity hair. I'm now going to buy the As I Am classic leave in conditioner I think but i'm going to check how much coconut oil is in it and check to find out all the other ingredients.

    Hi Iyda, thank you so much for your video(Natural hair types & tips), it has helped me a lot figure out my hair type and what my hair actually needs. It has helped me retain so much length. I have a 4C, Coarse, high density, low porous, protein sensitive hair type. I still have a hard time figuring out the right products to use because my hair is really protein sensitive. Coconut oil and aloe vera juice stiffens my hair even when in products and in the smallest amount. My Hair do not like oils and heavy butters. Please can you recommend a moisturizing deep conditioner and others products that will help moisturize and hydrate my hair. My hair is always kept hidden because it is dry and brittle. Thank you.

    Since I've stopped using products that contain protein (like Cantu's leave-in creamy moisturizer in the jar), my hair has gotten softer more moist & I have less single strand knots.
    At this point I probably won't use anything that contains protein because my hair doesn't get mushy with the regimen I'm using now.
    I was using aloe vera in my DIY refresher spray and once I took that out of the mix it's been a game changer! I know aloe vera is not a protein but it mimics a protein so it does not work for me but in the past I've used flaxseed is not a protein either but it mimics protein like properties but I haven't had any problem with that. I love the slip it gives my hair.

    I appreciate this video. My hair is proteins sensitive as well but it’s in this weird spot where I can’t tell if it needs moisture or protein. I usually use the aphogee 2 minute keratin conditioner for my protein treatment bc it’s minimal protein. But lately that hasn’t been making my hair feel the way it normally does. I’m thinking maybe I need a stronger protein treatment like you said. Do you have any recommendations of stronger ones you like?

    • @IydaMichael
      @IydaMichael  2 роки тому

      Thank you! I like the TGIN Miracle RepaiRx Curl Protein Reconstructor because it's stronger than the other light protein treatments but not too strong where it will make your hair feel hard and/or dry! And I also like making a fenugreek paste to add to a moisturizing deep conditioner which turns into a great protein treatment as well. ( I can't use the fenugreek paste on it's own because it has too much protein in it and I immediately get protein overload). I have some videos on it if you want more details, hope this helps! ❤️

    I'm at my wits end with my hair when it comes to moisture. I realized my hair doesn't like aloe vera and products with coconut oil in it (recently figured out when I eliminated it my hair had more moisture).I can't find a rinse out conditioner without both of those...
    Now I just figured I will just go with my deep conditioner until I run across one that I can use. The long hours researching products was wearing me out! It likes light protein once a month, clay wash (clarify once a month), and no aloe vera or coconut oil...
    Why my hair have to be so special! lol

    • @nourhammouri3961
      @nourhammouri3961 2 роки тому +2

      If you're looking for a moisturizing rinse-out conditioner, I would recommend the Giovanni 50:50 Balanced Conditioner. It doesn't make your hair as moisturized as a moisturizing deep conditioner would, but for a rinse-out conditioner, it's pretty good.
      If you're okay with using one with silicone, you can also try the Giovanni 2Chic Ultra-Moist Conditioner, but be sure to rinse out the silicone the next wash day with a clarifying shampoo/clay.
      I'm not sure if you're asking for light protein rinse-out conditioner suggestions, but if you are, I'm afraid I don't have any because I've never tried purchasing one after I saw how my hair reacts to protein, as well as aloe vera and coconut oil in the products (my hair HATES them). I suggest you include protein through treatments instead of during the conditioning stage of your wash day. These types of treatments have proteins that are small enough to penetrate the hair (like hydrolyzed proteins and amino acids), and it's unlikely you will find them in conditioners because most conditioners contain larger proteins and/or coconut oil and aloe vera. I've heard some great things about the APHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor (contains smaller proteins your hair will be able to absorb + cheaper than many other brands). However, don't forget to use a moisturizing PROTEIN-FREE deep conditioner right after using it, if you decide to try it out; many people with low porosity and/or protein sensitive hair, don't do this step and complain about protein overload afterward. I hope this helps!
