    I got hydral fatigue and after protein products I still couldn't fix it. Then I realized humectant products were making it worse. As soon as I stopped using high humectant products and I started sealing my hair, it got healthy
    I also realized during this period my hair wasn't as protein sensitive as I thought it was. So I started adding proteins to my hair routine and my hair is happier than it ever was

    Great info! Nappyfu put me on to prepooing with coconut oil and I think it’s helped me to maintain my hair’s moisture/protein balance. I’m low porosity, but not protein sensitive and I also incorporate a strengthening deep conditioner into my regimen once a month. There’s a lot of good ones that are also moisturizing, so it’s fairly easy to find one that works for you.

    So I did a prepoo with coconut oil for the first time today and my hair is drying so much quicker! Normally it takes 2 days for my hair to dry in a braid out but now it's only been half a day and it's almost completely dry which is amazing! It's also more shiny.

    I've overconditioned my hair because when I wash my hair weekly, I only use hydrating hair masks- most don't contain protein. I want to start using a more balanced conditioner, as you suggested. For now, I'll you ORS or Creme of Nature Keratin conditioner to give me a boost of protein on my next wash day. Ironically, I used coconut oil to seal my hair this week, (haven't done in years) so that should help. Great topic!

    I watched a few videos on the topic and your video is definitely the best. It’s very well explained. I’m currently going through it and I even had hair falling out. It’s getting better due to black tea rinse but I still experience hair breakage. I was about to buy the aphogee 2min reconstructor because of the other videos even though I hate the ingredients in that product. But now that I watched your video, I will simply follow your advice and see how it goes. Thank you very much!

    Great video however I have a couple of questions: Are you applying the coconut oil as if pre-pooing? If I do wash (co-wash) my hair daily would I use this each time? I do use a protein/ moisture treatment weekly (Mielle Babassu) . Now let me say that I only do this sort of co-wash when I wear a wash n go style otherwise it is my regular weekly wash routine. Also does sitting under the dryer count as far as leaving the hair wet before adding more water, hopefully that makes sense. I will apply the coconut oil prior to washing my hair, my strands are fine enough without adding anymore issues to its strands. My. Hair will get frizzy however I am thinking it the nature of transitioning strands from black to gray. I will try some of the tips given and not wash or wet my hair totally when wearing this style daily. I did see in one of the articles it stated a very light mist should not be too bad, I just like my style to look fresh when I do wear it! Thanks again

    Happy Saturday! I wanted to know if you've ever tried the Naptural85 twistout method where she flat twists horizontally and stretches the hanging strand across her head. She's done it on wet and stretched hair. A few other youtubers have tried her technique and done videos. I wonder how it would look on your hair.

    Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been dealing with hygral fatigue for probably 2 years now and I had no idea what was happening with my hair and because it couldn’t accept products, I would just try to add in more products. It was like products went straight through my hair but never penetrated actual strands except for coconut oil, it was the only thing; and even how you said you have to let it dry, I’ve noticed that when I wet my hair before putting products in, my strands do an even worse job of accepting the product but when I put coconut oil when it’s drier, it feels way better. I am now convinced that this is what’s wrong with my hair and now I know where to go from here. You are a literally life saver, I was this close 🤏🏾 to cutting it all off and still not know what to do with it💀

      Mizz Mention yes. Definitely get the thick consistency I think that is what does it for my hair (I personally use the blue magic brand but you could use others as long as it’s thick) also I have done a few protein treatments and I’m starting to make it a regular thing now-every 6 weeks. I use the aphogee brand and it works great on my hair. Also I’ve just recently heard that the coconut oil works with the protein in your hair so it that is probably why it helps so much. So in conclusion, our hair is crying out for protein girl! 😭

    • @mizzmention8555
      @mizzmention8555 4 роки тому +1

      @@annanexton4682 Lol, yes l think I'm seeing that now. I've been using protein bi weekly for about 6wks, so 3xs. I'm using the real protein treatment by Green Beauty.
      In my infinite wisdom I'd been using less than the recommended amount because my hair is fine and the horror stories of hard hair scared me 😱. Last wash day l upped the amount and got even better results.
      Do you mind if l ask what hair type do you have? I have fine 4c high porosity hair... my struggle is real!! 🤦🏽‍♀️

    • @annanexton4682
      @annanexton4682 4 роки тому +1

      Mizz Mention yea, tbh I feel like my hair is all over the place 😭 but it’s definitely fine, and for the curl pattern I’d say it’s around 3b/3c but probably mostly 3c, and medium porosity (I think) the porosity thing is kinda confusing and especially hard to tell with this hygral fatigue going on lol 😭💀

    • @mizzmention8555
      @mizzmention8555 4 роки тому +1

      @@annanexton4682 Yep can definitely relate to the "all over the place" lol. I've always been hi po so nothing new there! But for a good while l was focused on getting moisture into my hair, when it's pretty much the last thing it needs 🙄🤷🏽‍♀️
      Also if you feel your cuticles stay open (adding to cuticle damage and tangling) look into aloe vera juice as a rinse. Mine do and l have just bought some in preparation for next wash day 🤞🏾
      Good luck hun 🤗🌹

    Well didn't you just answer my question without trying!!
    I recently came to the realisation l must be suffering hygral fatigue. I gave myself a protein treatment which has stopped say 90% of the shedding but feel like l probably need more. As l add protein to my conditioner l will add in some more next wash day.
    My hair is definitely at its weakest when its wet so the tip on coconut oil is most welcome.

So now I use olive oil based prepoo with some coconut, argan jbco, grapeseed, sweet almond and jojoba with a hot head. I only use that if am using shampoo. Would hygral fatigue make hair that is normally heavy suddenly feel very WEIGHTLESS, mushy and overly soft? I'm afraid to put coconut oil in before washing because it would moisturize my hair and I'm not sure if it's moisture overload or hygral fatigue. Also, then it takes a lot of extra water to get the coconut oil out. I'm so confused. The hair is mushy then when I put shampoo in it instantly separates into a stringy, limp web?

    • @ALove4Me
      @ALove4Me  5 років тому +5

      Hygral fatigue would cause a mushy feeling. Coconut oil doesn't moisturize. Use protein after cleanser to fix the issue.

      @@ALove4Me Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me. I did the aphogee two minute reconstructer about a month ago and it seemed to make it worse because of all the moisturizers in it I think. Almost like they overtook the protein. I did a good clarifying shampoo (to counter the rich conditioners I used following the protein treatments) and have backed off of my leave in conditioner and just put small amounts of LUS wavy all in one and Ecoslay Orange Marmalade and it feels infinitely better. Still off but improved. If you figure out the key to balancing things out I’d love to know! ✌🏽🧡

    My hair takes days to dry tho... I'm not sure what to do. Any advice? I should say that my hair is very fine, medium density, extremely low porosity.

      Use heat via a diffuser on a blow dryer or hooded dryer to dry your hair faster

      I love the Jason jojoba conditioner. Picked it up from Marshall’s. On the more expensive side is the Redken Extreme Mega Mask. They both are great but the Redken mask might be more of a benefit since it’s a protein mask vs a hydrating conditioner with protein in it.

    Hygral fatigue can be summed up as “doing the most”

    I came back here because my hair was super mush and soft after deep conditon with the Aussie Moist 3 min Miracle. (I only did it for 15 min with heat) I did use the whole bottle which probably weighed my hair down. My hair is hard to comb through.
    Strengthening Conditoners make my hair rough and brittle. So I stray away from them. But maybe I need a more balancing conditoner. I might start small use the vo5 moisture milk. Maybe try mixing ors replenishing conditioner with Aussie Moist. I might need to try the Giovanni 50:50, a more balancing conditoner.

      Or maybe my hair hates deep conditioning with silicones and mineral oil and need a more runny conditoner.

    I think my hair has hygral fatigue. When it dries, it’s limp, mushy, no curl definition and it make huge clumps.
    But once it’s fully dry, it’s dry, stiff and frizzy.
    I used to use lot of deep conditioner but now i use protein masks but it does nothing :/

      Not yet. I stopped using too much conditionner because even tho it has protein, it also has a lot of moisturizing ingredients. I ordered aphogee two step protein treatment online and i hope it will work!

      I'm against pre-pooing just cause someone tells you too, but if there is a reason that benefits the hair I don't see why someone shouldn't.

  • @crystalviolet2711

    This is the only hygral fatigue video I actually think isn't absolutely nonsense. Just washing your hair or going for a swim isn't going to give you hygral fatigue!!! People that have constantly damp hair will. I think just wetting hair daily and letting it air dry is fine. I think people go overboard with moisturizer and actually do more harm than good. Letting the cuticle expand and contract naturally is key, manipulating that and essentially having your hair constantly heavily damp with no hopes of natural evaporation is going to damage hair. I know they say water is a key moisturizer, but does the body's natural oil, sebum aid in moisterizing by trapping water in the strands? I don't think it does...sebum is all lipids, not any water. So, how does it keep your hair "hydrated?"
