I think this yarn has a very niche market: People who love a challenge, and the perpetual stress of yarn chicken, or people who have such a huge hatred of sewing in ends that they'd be willing to redo rounds over and over again if their tension isn't perfect. Personally, I don't think the average crocheter fits into this niche but I'm glad it exists for the people who do fit into that niche
@@shinymimikyu6664 You don't have to keep frogging until it works. Just change up the pattern to remove all the extra stitches between clusters, then with extra yarn at end of round, slip stitch until the new color starts. Works wonders!
Love love love this yarn. Here's the secret: ditch instructions on the back of label. Use a 6.0 (J) crochet hook, chain only two in the corners (instead of three), and leave out the chain one between clusters. This way you will always have yarn of each color left over at the end of your round. Then instead of stressing, simply slip stitch along top until you get to the next start of a cluster where your new color lines up. Works every time without fail and you can't tell. The key is to be flexible and this yarn will make beautiful granny squares for everyone!
Your video was extremely helpful cause I was ready to give up on using it for granny squares, I used it for hats and worked great for that but I’m going to try it again thank you for this!
Omg I have bought so much of this yarn because I'm obsessed. I don't use their pattern and I use a 5.5 mm hook. I usually have a little of a color left over but I just slip stitch to the next space. I also don't chain in the holes and only do two in the corners. I got it for I think $5.24 a she in from Joann and I want more.
Just coming across you for the first time! Thank you for sharing this experience! Love your excitement and I can totally relate to the quick crocheting translating into looser tension a lot of the time!
I’m a new crocheter and it took me a minute to figure out but I enjoy it even if I have to redo the round a few times to get it right ! I like that I don’t have to worry about choosing colors or weaving all the extra ends in. I have finished one skein and got 15 squares and I have a few more skeins so I’m trying to make my first blanket 😊
The tutorial I watched for it was really helpful, by The Crotchet Crowd and it’s helping me figure out better tension too I think. It’s definitely something that needs patience and time. I like to just watch tv and work on my squares. I also broke my wrist recently and have finally been able to start crocheting things again as a form of therapy so it’s been keeping me busy and helping be regain mobility:)
If I use a 6 hook, I run out of yarn color, if I use a 5 same thing, with a 4 hook, I have yarn left over. I think I would rather weave in ends. Thank you for the tutorial. ❤️🧶🙏
Great video. It definitely got easier for me as I played with it. I’m hitting the colour changes using a 6.5mm hook & I’m using my regular granny square. I’m a tight crocheter & I’ve made about 45 squares so far. I’m really interested in some of the colour ways with black but we only have them at Walmart in Canada & those haven’t been made available on line yet. I did a vlog on January 23rd trying to use it for the 1st time. Things have become smooth sailing for me since then. I really like it! Thanks for sharing! 🧶💜
I had way too much left over with every color. I started with a 38” tail!!! And then I had to color change on my own. I tried the recommended size and went up as far as a 7mm and still had way too much left over. I went back to the 5.5mm and just did what I needed to do to get it done. lol Idk if they measured the color strips wrong or what. But I improvised and made it work. 😊
That sounds like the same problem I had when I tried it. I couldn't even get the FIRST color done. I kept increasing the size of the tail and trying a bigger hook.
If I plan on using this yarn, it won’t be for a granny square because it’s like a guessing game of how much or how little of the previous color is left. However, I did buy 1 skein. It took me forever to figure it out. I didn’t go by the instructions. What I had to do was tighten the tension. I also did 3 double crochets and chained 2, then 3 double crochets and chain one and on to the next double crochet. I used a I crochet hook. I prefer to change colors using different skeins of yarn.
I bought that same color today. I agree with you everyone is going to be different and so is every ball of yarn. I do think it's going to be worth it just not sew the tails in.
I think you’ll change your mind after using it for a while. You start understanding how the yarn plays out, and you’ll start to love it like I do. 😁. Just my opinion!
I bought a skein. I've tried it with both the size hook and the next size bigger and I couldn't even get the FIRST round to match up. I may try it again later, but for now, it's not worth it.
@@thestitchqueencrochet I read some of the comments. Sounds like someone else had the same problem that I did, a super long tail! If I knew how much yarn I needed for the first round, I may be able to do it. Maybe I'll do a round, mark where it ends, pull it apart and measure it. That is, once I remember where I put it. 😂
@@thestitchqueencrochet I'm trying to figure out exactly how much yarn I need for the first round. I accidentally got a knot in the yarn, so cut some off and STILL have way too much. But, I've almost got it figured out. I'm going to measure where I think I need to start. Then hopefully the rest will fall into place. I'll then be able to tell if they did just mess up that first color.
Welcome!!! ❤️❤️❤️ and if you don't mind frogging and trial and error, give it a try! But if you wanna just crochet and get into a flow, I wouldn't get it 😅
What do you think of this yarn? I would love to know! ❤

As someone who's been crocheting for YEARS but just got into granny squares due to hating the weaving of the end of strings... I love this idea
It's definitely a cool idea! Just a bit of work! 🥰♥️
You're so quick I'm just hypnotised ! I love your enthusiasm I might order the same colors as yours + the black/green one 😊

It’s like playing yarn chicken each round! Pretty, but sounds stressful. Wonder what it would look like using this yarn for a different project.

Yes! I figured out the right hook! It's a 4.25mm for me, and I don't have to cochet so tight anymore 🥰
I had to go down two sizes on the hook and crochet tight in order to make the colors work.
