My granny used to say just put it in the back of the closet and it will rotate back around I don't know how many times have that's happened and she's been gone for most nearly 20 years granny squares are easy there the coincide with everything it doesn't matter what you're doing but I believe it's going to be around for a long long time
My mental health definetly improved when I started to crochet avidly. And I highly recommened crochet to anyone who has trouble sitting still or keeping their hands busy.
I hope the Victorian trend with doilies comes back. I've been crocheting for 70 years and doilies with thread has always been my favorite. I've always had doilies on my furniture as did my mother. Needless to say, I have an abundance of doilies to use! Love your videos and enthusiasm for crochet.
I was just talking to my nana last night about all the things she used to crochet and knit and doillies was one of them! I hope they come back too, I've always thought doilles are so cute! They're on my never ending list of things I want to learn to make. I bet your thread doillies are beautiful!
You are correct about what is going to be on trend. It seems there is a "want" for "simple" and "crafted. " We have had a hay day with luxury and big spending, and the "made with love" items are meaningful. I am all for it! I love creating and love handmade!!! Thanks for sharing!
I've never been trendy my whole life, and I can't see that changing any time soon 😂 The 90s being classed as vintage is wild!! Part of me is stuck there anyway, so maybe for once in my life, I'm ahead of the game 🤭
Elise, when you showed those color drenched walls.......In the early 50's my mom and dad had deep rose walls in the living room....old scratchy, soundless home movies prove this! So it took 70 years to be in style again!
This is a good idea. I don't usually like to follow trends. I like what I like, but sometimes trends give new ideas that I like to incorporate into my designs. It is good to see what is the trends for 2025.
Maximalism is cool in someone else's home. To me it's called clutter and drives me nuts. I have the right colors, though. My bedroom has one deep red wall and 3 milk chocolate walls. My late wife loved the off white, mauve and dusty blues of the 90s. After her death, I changed to brights. It helped me grieve and heal. 17 yrs later, I'm still loving brights.
This was a great video. It is funny that painting your ceiling is a new trend. This is something my mother and ai have done for years. It is a 5th wall, and we have treated it that way for as long as I can remember. I am 50, so it has been a while.
@@EliseRoseCrochetI think it is cool looking but visually closes the room, causing it to look smaller. I do like the idea of painting a porch ceiling blue but that’s an entirely different thing…Single color crochet, however, calls to me as I love that the focus can be on the texture!
I love this! 0:20 I agree with your predictions, actually. We also have a son w/special needs. I also remember baking “sand” and other items - ugh. If only we had known! Have a merry Christmas, Elise! 🎄☺️🧡 xx
Yes!! I'm so glad that it's getting easier for parents of children with special needs to get the toys and therapy items they need to help their kids! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m definitely a maximalist 😉 I’m not sure about the brown for next year because I can’t see the stitches 🥺 I bought that Doodle knit directory yesterday and am looking forward to making some things from that. I hope you and your family have a great Christmas and wonderful new year 🎄🎄🎅🏼🎅🏼☃️☃️🎊
That brown trend is exciting. I was a teen in the late 90s and definitely remember my face full of brown makeup! I love that you gave ideas on items that we might be seeing too-thank you for that. I recently started making a bunch of crochet coasters, potholders etc- hoping that it does trend! Great video❤
*Off Topic* I just started learning to crochet last week, and your channel was the first crochet channel I found. It's interesting that you mentioned legwarmers because I just a few weeks ago decided that once I finish the commission I'm working on, I want to crochet myself some nice warm thigh-high legwarmers (since often commercial ones don't fitted way I want them to. Guess I'm on trend! 😂
11:34 Both eldest grandsons were interested in crocheting 2 years ago. I tried to teach them and showed them tutorials for the basics, but they gave up.😢 BUT I have 3 more that might be interested!😅
This is always fun to see. Thank you ❤. I do not follow trends, but you can't help to be affected. Like I used to hate granny squares, now I can at least look at them, and I can see their point. But I grew up in the 70es and overdosed on brown, no matter how often it returns, I'll never make anything with a base of brown. It will just not happen, as long as there are other colours around 😂
I would love more information about crocheted toys, especially links to well-priced/free patterns. I support Early Childhood Special Education and General Education classrooms, and I'd love to crochet toys for students.
I think you'll really enjoy Tunisian crochet since you know how to knit and crochet. I'm grateful for you tube content creators because without them I wouldn't ever have known about Tunisian crochet. Here's a hot take on patching up jeans with crocheted doilies/patches - they still look tattered and in need of being replaced with jeans without holes. I always think people wearing jeans with holes survived a wolf attack.
Oh good! Tattered is my aesthetic (well, specifically, salvagepunk-but-practical is my aesthetic), so when I mend and patch things, I don't want them to wind up looking too deliberate and polished 😂
This content was intriguing Elise! Thank you! I started in Tunisian Crochet in January of this year and I love it! Jayda In-Stitches and MDL Crochet are wonderful resources. Of course there are many others, but that's where I started. Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones Elise!
Hi, if you want a yarn show, on April 26 & and 27 2025, there's the largest award winning wool and natural fibre festival in Wales and the UK. It's one of those places where it's much safer to leave your credit and debit cards at home and only take cash. It's one of those place where you salivate over gorgeous yarn and stroke it gently. It's one of those places where you wish you had unlimited cash and more time. Lots more time. Of course, as it's in Wales, there are special sheep on show, naturally. When I look out of my window at home and see sheep doing sheep things, l think yarn! They are growing yarn. Thanks for your videos i do enjoy them. P.S. Like you I'm not a follower of fashion, so, I will still be crocheting the granny square. It's versatile. The amount of projects that can be made with granny shapes is, if not limitless, amazing. Perhaps you and we, your followers, can start our own fashion trend for 2025, and call it 'what can we make with the granny square/shape?' 😂
I just gave my oldest granddaughter a crochet set for Christmas. She's 10, and was sooo excited to have her very own bag, yarn, hook set, and all the things. Lol. She was so excited over her own measuring tape. 😂 I'm so excited to watch her grow in this craft.
I'm actually very excited to see if any more Netflix or Max shows publish a show book of the objects characters wore or garments based on the character.
Crocheting is great therapy for me. I’m not a designer or professional crocheter . I do love making the fidget toys and baby blankets for family members. I still love the granny squares and I think it’s still one of the prettiest blankets you can make.
I want to like the recycled yarn but the 2 I tried was not a fan and a young adult brought it to my attention about the process to recycle including the chemicals. So I’m on the fence with them.
I've been teaching myself Tunisian crochet over the last couple of months. I've found having knowledge of both crochet and knitting has been really helpful, it's not so scary once you get started! My main issue is if I stop concentrating my muscle memory starts up normal crochet again, I've had to stop and frog the last few stitches a number of times when I notice. I hope you enjoy your course. Happy Christmas.
I have ADHD, and crochet has been one of my most consistant things in my life. I love how I can take it everywhere I go. And how I can easily switch or do mutiple projects at once!
This was such a great topic! I thought that the Pantone color of the year was going to be Aubergine, did I imagine that? I think that the soft mocha color pairs with the other trends you mentioned, it has a soft, comforting, self-care kind of vibe. I also love that you talked about crochet as a wellness prescription. Great video!
@ meh I was more excited about Aubergine but after watching your video and your take on the trends it made more sense to me. I love how you pulled all these ideas together and applied them to crochet.
here in Italy clutch bags from tshirt yarns are very popular.. and any bags too from tshird yarns to cord yarns with "swarovski" style crystals are very in right now
0:38 Oh dear, that sounds just like me!!😂 😊 3:16 I’ve been seeing more browns in JoAnn’s. I love purple, but that Mocha Mousse does look like milk chocolate, LOVE ME SOME MILK CHOCOLATE 💜❤️ 😅
I keep seeing Tunisian crochet and I love, love, love the look and the movements. I want to learn it this year as well! Also a full size blanket not just a throw size.
Once again, Elise, another great video. I really didn’t think I was going to be interested in the subject matter but all of your information was GREAT! I LOVED it!!! Thank you again and I am wishing you and your family a Blessed, Safe, and Peaceful holiday!
Great reminder. Crochet wonderful for the brain and easy to learn. Yarn and crochet hook is all we need. I have all of that. New Year’s resolution . After the craziness of the holidays will start a project.
Hi Elise I hope the granny square stays I love the possibilities with it.i really enjoyed your video I love doilies too .I have noticed people doing one colour blankets as you said.i am currently working on kiddies ponchos for a charity I out bobbles on the end instead of fringing so cute.thanks Elise lots of love.💝💝💝
A few of my friends that still have their 90’s hairstyles will be so happy, I’m wondering if I still have any 90’s clothes way in the back of my closet….. Love your videos so much!!!❤
Hello lovely Elise😊, very fun and intetesting video. And it will b fun to look back at this video in a years time and c what happened in 2025 and what didn't. Wishing u and your family a Merry Christmas 🎄 from Australia. Thank u for inspiring me all 2024. Love and prayers 💗💗💗🙏🙏🙏
I think we'll see spinning your own yarn become more popular, with the prices of yarn from overseas increasing. I can't name one mainstream yarn brand made in the USA ☹
OMW!!! ELISE!!! We are on the same wave link! I just shared my color predictions this past Friday on my channel! AND!!! We both showed pretty much the same colors!
Nope. Nope. Can’t do Furby. My friend’s started talking to us randomly at 3am during a sleepover. I’ve heard so many other people say theirs did the same. 😅
I love the notion of e-book covers. As an older person e-books are far more convenient because they are lighter and I can have more than one book at a time on there. I would love to crochet my own e-book cover. Do you know where I can get a pattern for that?
8:17 Water bottle covers are really cool. If you do some could you teach us?😊 8:47 Yeah!!👍 granny squares are still here! I love granny squares and corner to corner, basically that’s all I know how to make except for single, double, and triple stitches 😂 I’ve tried waves/chevrons but I get lost counting 😢
I love these predictions and I also think you're right in a lot of ways! I literally JUST bought a crochet furby at a craft fair recently! 😅 I hope I start to see more!
Hi Elise right now I am working on my cottage core mosaic blanket and granny squares blanket and butterfly mosaic blanket and I love your channel and your videos and if you keep making videos I will keep watching them and what is your favorite crochet projects to work on right now and favorite type of yarn to used when crocheting and keep up the great work on your UA-cam channel and keep up the great work on your UA-cam channel and keep up the great work on your crochet projects
Thank you so much, Samantha! I'm currently working on a secret amigurumi design with my favorite YarnArt Jeans! I am looking for a new granny square blanket project to start too!! Happy Holidays! ❤️❤️❤️
I agree with you on mosts of the trends you see.. I see it as well. Bowns are coming back. one solid color instead of multi color projects. using (recycle) what has been old used that we would normally take to goodwill we are reusing. etd. good prediictions
Thanks for sharing. I did some research on colour trends for 2025 discovered “cherry or dark cherry to also be up and coming? Also, glad I kept my original Furby my boys gifted me many many years ago (still works too), have a base for a pattern 🤔 Will be exciting to see what shows up in today’s world of crocheting. 🎄Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄
I love this video! I’ve made a few book sleeves and I love them! I need to look up your bookish video. I don’t know what you mean by the corner to corner book blanket but I’ll be looking that up! :)
I was shocked and surprised to see that some nice recycled yarns are more expensive than regular yarns…. Why would we bother with it if it’s so expensive ?
Hi Elise. I happened to think of something through out your video. When "the people" forecast what color(s) and trends are going to be for trends....how do they get this info?
I confess I'm not a fan of granny squares. I'm teaching myself Tunisian crochet, which I love, with the great help of Toni Lipsey and other you-tube Tunisian crocheters. Knitting and crocheting keep me out of trouble (i.e. away from the refrigerator!), and keep my now arthritic/carpal tunnel hands moving. I like your take on 2025 trends except for maximalism. I'm Scandinavian and lean more towards clean lines and no clutter! Thanks for this interesting video, and Merry Christmas 🥰
I like the idea of color, though kind of will stick to my thing (currently making myself a rainbow blanket and one color is boring to me). Also making my first ever sweater. Found a Premier yarn at the only store that carries some of them around me. It's the Bamboo chunky (was not badly price). Doing it in Blue Raspberry and Pomegranate as an accent. I've learned Tunisian crochet in the past, it's not always the easiest, I'll say, but it is fun. Not my preferred method, but that's the thing, it's fun to learn a new skill, even if you end up not using it.
I'm saying a prayer that the granny square never falls out of favor!! I just love a granny square!
Me too!!! I'll never stop making them! ❤️❤️❤️
Don't worry -- I've just begun to crochet, and I enjoy making basic granny squares so much that I'll single-handedly keep them alive 😂

Great reminder. Crochet wonderful for the brain and easy to learn. Yarn and crochet hook is all we need. I have all of that. New Year’s resolution . After the craziness of the holidays will start a project.
I like using brown tones as accent colors in home decor but as a redhead I'm not crazy about wearing it
Hi Elise I hope the granny square stays I love the possibilities with it.i really enjoyed your video I love doilies too .I have noticed people doing one colour blankets as you said.i am currently working on kiddies ponchos for a charity I out bobbles on the end instead of fringing so cute.thanks Elise lots of love.💝💝💝
Thank you for always bringing something new and fresh to your crochet videos!!
I'm so glad you enjoy them! 🧶🧶🧶
A few of my friends that still have their 90’s hairstyles will be so happy, I’m wondering if I still have any 90’s clothes way in the back of my closet….. Love your videos so much!!!❤
I still have a few things!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Merry Christmas to you and yours! 🎄🎅🏽❤️🧶
I’m going to be needing a pattern for all Of these things 🤩 I’m here for it 🙌🏻💯
Haha!!! So many fun ideas! 🧶🧶🧶
I think we'll see spinning your own yarn become more popular, with the prices of yarn from overseas increasing. I can't name one mainstream yarn brand made in the USA ☹
THANK YOU SO MUCH ELISE❤❤❤
You're so welcome! 🧶🧶🧶
I am a huge fan of this channel you have helped me learn new techniques and stitches and overall help me become a better crocheter and knitter
OMW!!! ELISE!!! We are on the same wave link! I just shared my color predictions this past Friday on my channel! AND!!! We both showed pretty much the same colors!
Wow!! That is so fun!!! 🤎💜🧶
Nope. Nope. Can’t do Furby. My friend’s started talking to us randomly at 3am during a sleepover. I’ve heard so many other people say theirs did the same. 😅
Yikes!!!!! 😬
I love the notion of e-book covers. As an older person e-books are far more convenient because they are lighter and I can have more than one book at a time on there. I would love to crochet my own e-book cover. Do you know where I can get a pattern for that?
There are soooo many! If you just do a quick google search you'll find lots!! 🧶🧶🧶
@ thanks….now to pick one
A very happy Christmas to you and your family ❤ xxx
Merry Christmas!!! 🎄🎅🏽❤️🧶
There are some great tutorials for water bottle covers!! 🧶🧶🧶
I love these predictions and I also think you're right in a lot of ways! I literally JUST bought a crochet furby at a craft fair recently! 😅 I hope I start to see more!
Oh wow!!! Now that is pretty amazing!!! Thanks for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
The 70s had the color drench thing too. Mustard, rust, pea green and brown all in one item are very triggering for me lmao!!!!
Lol!!! Those colors are also so on trend!! 🧶🧶🧶🤣🤣🤣
@heathermacmaster5666
And Harvest Gold and Avocado Green! Baby poo!
Thank you for such an informative video in trends along side crochet!!!
You're very welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you! That was interesting!!!❤❤❤
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
Thank you for this video, Love it.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! 🧶🧶🧶
This was such a fun video! Thanks and happy holidays!
I agree with you on mosts of the trends you see.. I see it as well. Bowns are coming back. one solid color instead of multi color projects. using (recycle) what has been old used that we would normally take to goodwill we are reusing. etd. good prediictions
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!! 🎅🏽🎄🎉🥳❤️🧶
Merci beaucoup élise rose 🤶🎅🎄🌹et très bonne année à toi aussi ❤🧶
This was a smart, interesting and inspiring video. I never thought I would want ripped jeans, but now I want some to patch with a granny square.
This was very helpful and insightful!! Thank you so much! 💓
You're so welcome! ❤️
Thanks for sharing.
I did some research on colour trends for 2025 discovered “cherry or dark cherry to also be up and coming?
Also, glad I kept my original Furby my boys gifted me many many years ago (still works too), have a base for a pattern 🤔
Will be exciting to see what shows up in today’s world of crocheting.
🎄Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄
Oooh!! I love that color! 🍒
Brown and grey are my favorite neutrals.
I love this video! I’ve made a few book sleeves and I love them! I need to look up your bookish video. I don’t know what you mean by the corner to corner book blanket but I’ll be looking that up! :)
That's great! I love book sleeves! Thanks for watching! 🧶🧶🧶
I was shocked and surprised to see that some nice recycled yarns are more expensive than regular yarns…. Why would we bother with it if it’s so expensive ?
I wonder if it has to do with not being able to make as much quantity. Maybe if it becomes more popular the price will come down. 🧶🧶🧶
I liked browns... until I turned silver!
With you stating that the 90’s are now vintage clothing, I feel extremely old now 😂!
I know, right?! Time flies!!!
@ No kidding! I’m not ready to turn the age I’m about to turn in a couple of months. Not ready to get old🫤😂!
What a fab video! I hope you'll do a follow-up at the end of the year, to see what really took off for us crocheters! 😁 x
Good idea! 💡
@@EliseRoseCrochet 😁 x
I arrived under 30 min 😊❤ very interesting Elise!❤ thankbyou
You're so welcome! ❤️🧶😊
Merry CHRISTmas and Happy New Year 🎊. Awesome video
Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄🎅🏽❤️🧶
Hi Elise. I happened to think of something through out your video. When "the people" forecast what color(s) and trends are going to be for trends....how do they get this info?
Do you have any videos comparing/reviewing recycled yarns? Thanks!
I don't yet, but it's something I would love to do in 2025! 🧶🧶🧶
Have you considered doing a tutorial for crocheting on clothes? (Like covering the holes you were talking about in the video.) I would LOVE that!
I'm not much of a garment maker for humans, lol! But @brianak @mjsoffthehook @tlyarncrafts @cjdesignblog all have great tutorials for clothing! 🧶🧶🧶
Love your videos
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
