Hi Dave, thanks for the awesome video..😁🤗 the food looked delicious..🤗 I just bought the 25-0, can’t wait to try out some recipes when I go out biking this year...subscribed👍🏻 and saying hi from Petawawa Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
My favourite recipe from the Trangia Moment cook book is Reindeer Stew. I've made it many times with different meats. It's essentially a stroganoff. All of the recipes in Trangia Moment are absolutely delicious and simple to make either at home or outdoors.
Great out an about meals with the Trangia system. It looks like you have the same issue with sooty pots. How do you remedy that without scouring the aluminum? 😊
Hi Jallerman. I'm finding that it sorts a lots less using bio-ethanol rather than methylated spirits. Some of my subscribers have said that adding a small splash of water into the fuel helps. Thanks for watching 👍
See some of your pans are covered in soot from the smoke. The little yellow bag has some info on it to stop this, it says to add 10% water to the Mehta to prevent sooting up
Hiya Dave great vid , just came across it ... quick question, does the trangia burner soot pans up. Ive got an anodised cookset which came with a gas burner, but I didnt want to mess it up with the spirit burner THANKS
It can soot up the pans but is relatively easy to clean off. Also different spirits have different outputs of soot. I use bioethanol which burns pretty clean. Methylated spirits tend to soot up quite a lot but you can water it down a little to reduce the sooting. Hope this helps 👍
Awesome video Dave. I too am inspired to find out I can make "French fries" on the trail with my Trangia! I just tried my Trangia 27 out for the first time the other day (and made a video). I did pierogis. It turns out the Trangia is the absolute best camp stove for pierogis. You should try it!
@@Conflictofinterest902 Thank you for your recommendation. I'll give it a look. Is it quite light as I worry it would make the stove quite top heavy? I've just bought an omnia oven to try and oven cook with the trangia. Going to give that a try in the next few months. If it works I'll be able to doing fries, pizzas and cakes. It's great to experiment with these stoves. Many thanks again 👍
@@bushcraftdavetrangia sorry, I accidentally deleted my comment. Tbh, the ridgemonkey is quite heavy and large. One to many beers for me last night, so I'm watching this later than normal 😅. Diced par boiled potatoes fry well, so I guess frozen chips would work too, I hope you got the squeaky sound from the halloumi lol 😆. Who doesn't love fried spam, or in my case, asda bacon grill as I prefer that to the original 😋. Some good ideas there buddy, enjoy the rest of your weekend and see you on your next adventure 🤙🤟
Hi Hannah. They don't take too long. About 6 to 8 minutes, but you cook them until you're happy with how crispy they are. These were really thin quick cook chips so I didn't need to fry them too long 👍
What is the Best Fuel for cooking with Trangia… Meths Spirit (Purple) just awful for Smoking and Staining appliances!! Has to be an alternative?!! Cheers and Thank You..
Great question James. I use a clear bio ethanol fuel which doesn't smell and burns really well. Definitely worth trying get hold of some of that if you can get some. Also, I've now got a gas burner which I'm really enjoying using as it's easier to turn heat up and down. Any other questions or issues please let me know and I'll try to help if I can 👍
And not a vegetable in sight! It may be typical, but it's a seriously poor diet. All meals need to include two-thirds veg (not potatoes) and one-third protein. When I camp cook with my Trangia, a favourite is a pre-prepared beef/chicken stroganoff (includes onions and mushrooms) with mixed peas or green beans and broccoli, cut small. Both carried in ziplock bags. Dried fruits and nuts for afters. Breakfast: toasted mixed seeds (sold in small bags at supermarkets) and porridge oats with milk powder - add water and heat for five mins. Add some frozen mixed berries. With a little imagination, thinking outside the box, you can cook and eat really well with a Trangia.
@@bushcraftdavetrangia oh thanks that's great I've recently bought one but had no spirit when I tried it out so used gel. Didnt try to cook but it made a right mess with the soot 😑 worked fine but not clean burning at all. Welcome to the channel Tamara. You will have so much fun exploring what you can create 🍳 👍
Tip: Toast only one side of the bread slices. Put cheese on toasted side, then proceed as you did. Stops bread getting burned.

If your camping for more than a single night half cook(brown) the meat to reduce cooking time and save fuel.
Great advice. Cheers Ernie 👍
Go on bushcraft Dave, love this kinda stuff

It’s got to be Heinz salad cream or nothing…
