We've been wanting to visit this spectacular castle on the North Coast for a few years and it didn't disappoint with loads to see and a rich history to explore. There's plenty to do on site with two places to eat and an extra museum. Definitely a full day out if you have the time. It's not a National Trust or English Heritage Site though so you'll need to pay whatever memberships you have. We f...

Intrigued by Temu, I bought everything I'd need to go out and start cooking outside for about 1/2 the price of a basic Trangia 27 - is it a clever simple set for a beginner or does the price reflect the quality in a bad way?

It's that time of year again - tent review time! Except this year we're not reviewing a tent as such but this key part of our family camping kit. Use it as a seating area, storage or your camp kitchen to give you living space in the main tent and you can't go wrong. Also great for picnics, private changing space and as a gazebo for fetes etc - it's strong as an ox and much more practical! Go Ou...

We went on our annual pilgrimmage to the Bushcraft Show this year and the only thing that had changed for the worse was the weather (for which I think the organisers cannot be blamed!). Apart from that, the show was bigger and better than ever and we loved it. We followed the Komoot map in the link below but parked a little lower down and finished along the canal instead of walking through the village. Trangia 27 Cook: Chicken Chow Mein... in a WOK!
Excellent demonstration of Trangia cooking at it's finest. ONE tip....cooking anything in the frying pan can be improved by inverting one of the pans and placing over the food - acts like a mini oven to cook top and bottom of food simultaneously, particularly useful for runny eggs! Stay well, stay safe....Helen and Katarin Juska-Law, Stella and Terri with Robyn (East Anglian fenlands - UK)
You did really well! Loved it!

Feuerhand is the last maker of lanterns in Western Civilization and well worth supporting. I tell folks to get several of their 276 so they can place them around the house.... then use them regularly. They create a wonderful ambiance, so why wait until the power goes out? Three or four of them are especially good when watching scary movies on a dark and stormy night! When Huricane Helene came through here, my oil lamps were a godsend and I'd never recommend people rely on battery-powered whizbangs. I have two Feueruhand 280 lanterns, as well as a Meva, and they can really light up the night. The 276 is especially nice because it's small enough to fit on a bookcase and not look out of place.
@threeriversforge1997 great advice thank you 👍
When it comes to hurricane lanterns, those are the best of the best. Surprised you got it for free…those aren’t cheap.
I got rid of the mini gripper straight away. The traditional one sits really nicely in the mini

Lol. Type of thing I would do.
Great video, we are much more convinced this could be a purchase for us. A query though, does it dry well and have you put it away damp and noticed any mould spots? Many thanks.
Thank you very much for the inspiration. I'll try to have the ingreedients at hand. Be blessed!
Is it uncomfortably bulky to wear all the time, at home? (To sleep in at night). Is it noisy? Like, does it rustle every time you move?
Here in Australia we can buy an Asian brand of coconut milk as a powder .
Brand new that set would run you $200:00 CAD. I picked up a clone on Temu called a storm cooker. and another design from Fire maple for $84:00 CAD. with a burner. If you are replacing the fry pan go for the deep dish one.

Hi Dave! Great video! I just purchased the Kiowa and inner tent brand new for £800. I noticed the footprint was going to cost another £120-£140, which is pretty steep! I saw you didn’t have one, so I posted the great deal I found online-a Robens tent footprint for just £20 plus £5.00 delivery on HotUKDeals. The Bushcraft Store is selling it at that price. Can’t wait to use it in the summer!
If you put the handle up straight and drill two small holes in them just above the top of the lid you can then feed a tent peg through and it will keep the lid on.

That's not an arrow to show you which way to shoot on the cannon, it's a broad arrow. The broad arrow was the symbol used to show that the item belonged to the Board of Ordanance (or later on, war department or MOD), it was on everything they owned from cannons to tablecloths.
@@FlatDerrick thank you. Every day is a school day 👍
@@bushcraftdavetrangia You'll spot them all over the UK now ;) Think we only did away with them in about the 60s when the MOD realised there was profit in selling old stuff onto the public. Prior to that if you had something with that symbol on in your possession, you were in very deep trouble!

SPAM? Full of sodium nitrate/nitrite. What about one-pan wonder 'Huevos Rancheros'? Spicy tomatoes with eggs.
And not a vegetable in sight! It may be typical, but it's a seriously poor diet. All meals need to include two-thirds veg (not potatoes) and one-third protein. When I camp cook with my Trangia, a favourite is a pre-prepared beef/chicken stroganoff (includes onions and mushrooms) with mixed peas or green beans and broccoli, cut small. Both carried in ziplock bags. Dried fruits and nuts for afters. Breakfast: toasted mixed seeds (sold in small bags at supermarkets) and porridge oats with milk powder - add water and heat for five mins. Add some frozen mixed berries. With a little imagination, thinking outside the box, you can cook and eat really well with a Trangia.

Tip: Toast only one side of the bread slices. Put cheese on toasted side, then proceed as you did. Stops bread getting burned.
Just the vid I was looking for! Cheers 🤙🏼

Why are they called Ethels?
Ethel's are defined by "ancestral territories", which are just points that are historically significant
@user-rc7dq7xp6y they are named after Ethyl Haythornthwaite who pioneered the establishment of the Peak District at Britain's first national park in 1951

Hi i dont have this tent i have the carins 4dlx so slightly bigger and after taking it out i did a trial run set up was fine but for the life of me cant get back in , it also comes in two parts however a lot bigger and the bag is tiny . Any tips on getting it in ?
@freyatoth7841 thank you for you message. When you have got the tent down and laid out flat. Fold the tent in like you might fold a tshirt. The aim really is the final width when folding in, before you roll up, should be about the width of the bag with the poles in. Then put the pole bag on top and roll the tent around the pole bag keeping it tight. To be fair this is often a problem with putting tents away, and I have in the past found tent bags that are too small when putting tents away. In these cases I just use a different bag, such as a supermarket canvas type carrier bag. Hope you have some joy in getting the tent away.
@@bushcraftdavetrangiaThank you , weather looks okay today so i will make it my mission !
