    Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.

The hospital elite package has 2 bonuses; the first is about the base and the roof, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxS-P9OAq3v4HNpPFqYFWNEq9A-E_PbZIN the second is about the confidential staff who give advice and the advice that worked for me. uh, those switch/outlet combo's aren't rated for high loads (table saw + lighting and extra equipment) flickering lighting indicates that just the saw alone has a high starting current. Long story short, check the max rated current of the combo switch. and if your equipment exceeds that value. consider using the switch only for the lights.

    • @ajwillmore6517
      @ajwillmore6517 3 роки тому

      Nothing to do with the switch. The inrush current from the saw table motor is causing the voltage output of the inverter to temporally drop, thus causing the lights to dim.

      I would’ve done a separate DC circuit for the lights and direct dc leds. That way u don’t lose 15% from the goal zero inverter then 15% from the led driver inverter

    Anytime you cut the tube, file the inside to prevent the wire rubbing on it
    Also, there was no need to splice the wire, it can cause future issues unless you ran out of cable, in that case you use some brass wire connectors that you tighten using screws. In your case, you could've just ran the cable directly to the source or used a wire puller (they sell them at home depot, orange and go up to 100ft I think)if it's too complicated

    What made you choose to run the lights on AC instead of LV DC? Seems like a waste to run the inverter to convert the battery output to AC and then rectify back to DC in the lights. They don't draw that much power but you may get rid of the flickering problem moving that load off the inverter. Loved the video btw, an off grid shop is awesome

    1. Since price is apparently no object, I would have gone with the 1500, just in case you add a larger tool in the future.
    2. The stranded wire should have used crimp rings or spades. It doesn’t hold as well under the screw terminals.
    3. Your feeds from the power station should have been in strain reliefs, not just conduit adapters.
    4. Bent conduit is fine, but flexible conduit to the lights would work easier.
    5. Dual conduits vertical is fine, but a single 3/4 would work just as well.

    The reason your lights flicker is because when an electric motor starts up, it goes from not moving to high momentum so there is a lot of physical resistance until the motor gets spinning. That resistance causes a current surge as the motor works harder to get up to speed. and your circuit is overloaded for a brief second. Be sure to check that your cables can handle that surge as you don’t want your cables melting. But also it’s an indication that maybe you might want to beef your setup up. Obviously it’s fine for normal use. But if you plan to have multiple things running at the same time it may become a problem quite quickly.

    • @robotfishFX
      @robotfishFX 3 роки тому

      At face level electrical work is kinda easy, you can achieve the results you want with a little research. And while it’s interesting to watch you learn and attempt this, there are certain safety factors to take into account when doing this type of thing. And unless it was something as simple as a new plug socket or a new light, I would leave it to a pro. Someone with the gear to do continuity checks and who can give you paperwork to say this is safe. And who also understands current flow at a more technical level so you don’t get things like this.

Hitting unsupported emt may cause it to move and bite into your wire. Also I would pound a ground bar in outside your shed and ground your metal junction boxes.

    That startup draw is serious on the table saw. Its quality level combined with motor size and that’s a hard thing to balance to get anything without heavy startup. Limiting even on grid power unless you’ve done some changes to make shop power. Basic garage power vs tiny upgrades make a huge difference.

    • @SoHighIFly
      @SoHighIFly 3 роки тому +1

      Pretty much most electric motors have an inrush current of 6 times its full load current. Also depends on how many poles and type of motor. Today for instance i had to run a 55kw 2 pole and a 55kw 4 pole motor. Start up current for the 2 pole was 287amps and the 4 pole was 190amps. The faster the motor the less torque so it takes more power to get the rotor turning

    • @FearsomeWarrior
      @FearsomeWarrior 3 роки тому

      @@SoHighIFly I’ve always assumed a circuit and/or combined with a start capacitor can smooth it out. Or simple a soft start feature the more upper range tools have. I expect a ridiculous startup draw for a 12” miter saw just because of the physics. I am not sure how the cost/quality and application of motors works out. Like if you want a lighter motor because it’s a semi-portable tool but it needs to have so many amps and since it can’t compensate it just has to have enough power to go though. Seems the way is always brute motors.

    In. General, I like them video and idea of getting off grid with green electricity (neglecting the resourced the production of all of this used). However, not sure how many people might get down to reality when they see that the rough spend (w/o conduits, cables, etc.) is $4.5k. Not sure how much a kWh in your place costs, but you can by a lot of kWh for this. Those equipment need to get way (!!!!) cheaper, before it will have a significant positive impact overall. Just my 2 cents.

Only suggestion I have is to move the switch down a new run of conduit to the other side of the door. Your boxes need to be grounded. If there's a short caused by the sharp edges that are sure to be in the pipe from using a copper pipe cutter, you will be shocked if it doesn't trip a breaker. All you need to do is hit up a hardware store, pick up some ground tails (Or just the screws if you can find them) and just have it connected to the ground wire and the box in some way. We normally wire all the grounds together and pigtail off of them to the plug.

    At 5:55, did I just hear correctly? That you are putting the single switch that controls the sockets (outlets) at the BATTERY end of the cable run? And not at the outlet itself?? How would someone know that the socket outlet is hot, if they didn’t know to check at the battery pack end? Why not have switches on the outlets themselves, ok yes like we have in the UK, so that there is a safety switch with a visual indication whether the outlet is live? (assuming it’s been wired correctly of course)

    • @jjjacer
      @jjjacer 3 роки тому +1

      probably because this is more standard in america, basically just think of every outlet is always live here, although sometimes we do have switched outlets (for lamps to be controlled at entry ways), but other than that you dont really see switched outlets here, and as he said with the switch off, all outlets are off except at the switch itself for chargers. and also you can just label the switches (had to in my home as every switch was basically backwards, switch on right controlled stuff to my left, switch on left controlled stuff to my right)

  • @Recusant
    @Recusant 3 роки тому

    Journeyman electrician here. As it is, your grounding system isn't doing much to protect this installation because you need to bond each J-box with a small whip of green wire of either kind (or uninsulated solid) and screw it to the box, then splice that into the continuous green loop running throughout. Also, to meet the Code, you'll need to support your conduit within one to three feet of every connector, and every ten feet after that with pipe straps. Plus you'll need to use connectors on your lights rather than run the conduit straight inside. Last thing, a scoring cutter doesn't ream the inside of the conduit and can damage the wire insulation during a pull. You'll want to smooth out the insides of your conduits after each cut with a pair of channel locks or pliers.

    • @W00lveR1ne
      @W00lveR1ne 3 роки тому

      Serious question, why did he cut the wires on that j-box on the top right and then spliced them back together?

    • @Recusant
      @Recusant 3 роки тому

      @@W00lveR1ne It's not a totally uncommon practice. The ground should be spliced with its pigtail at each box, but the rest don't have to be. Usually a 'service loop' is left in each pull point for later use with the conductors remaining continuous. Making unnecessary splices can add a bit of impedance to the circuit, build up heat, and potentially weaken conductivity. That said, splicing the current carrying conductors at each pull point makes servicing them easier down the line if he needs to isolate and repair part of the system, or decides to expand with receptacles in those boxes.

    Content creators allowing companies to buy them off and give out one sided reviews just because it's a sponsor is a dishonest stance. You should always stay true to your viewers and give out honest reviews of a product, because if the product doesn't work, you as a content creator will have your credibility questioned, lose viewers, and the company you sponsored will still make money off of your channel and review.
