    I was not paying too much attention at 1:04. But, one minute you were putting fixings in the roofing sheets and seconds later your were filming inside. I've got to say it looks a hell of a lot bigger inside. How did you do that. Is it all done with a sonic screwdriver?

    Nice tidy install. The payback time discussion gets interesting.
    How can anyone know, when they have NO idea how expensive retail power will be a year from now?
    Let alone in 15 years.

    Hey Mate , Great Video.. Just curious what sides you panels face? East and west? I like the idea of the small solar setup. Might have to check out those guys in Perth 👌
    Did you end up doing anything with the shed base to seal it up from dust and rain?
    Cheers

      @TheHandyTech  Рік тому +1

      Thanks bro much appreciated. Yep correct they face east and west - in may case that was the only real option for me unless I wanted to build standing frames and face the panel north. I've found the setup generates more than enough power for my needs at the moment. Nothing to seal it up but then again there is nothing sitting on the ground that I am worried about getting wet. Maybe some expanding foam would be able to fill the gaps up in a reasonable way

    Very nice, if water intrusion would affect batteries. You should get them off the floor.

    Great job on the shed and roof and gutters, and AWESOME diagram on the electrical...but can't understand why you would use MDF? It breaks apart easily (whenever you attempt to re-seat a screw, etc) and if you ever get it wet, even if it's a drip at the top, it can literally fall apart. I'd consider 1/2" plywood, even if its a little more expensive. Finally, Love the shed exterior walls, using the roofing material looks different and really nice!

    Man, great video! I’m in the process of turning a shed into a music studio powered by solar. Is the wiring from the MPPT to RCD legal and easy enough to do?

    • @TheHandyTech
      @TheHandyTech  Рік тому +1

      Thanks mate. The low voltage DC wiring is fine, but you mentioned an RCD so I am assuming you are wanting to install an inverter (takes the DC voltage produced by the panels and stored in the batteries and converts it to 230v AC)? That part would certainly require a sparky. Hope that helps bro

    • @PSYCHONAUTAustralia
      @PSYCHONAUTAustralia Рік тому

      @@TheHandyTech Yeah man! I would prefer pretty much the same set up as you have there. I only asked about RCD as a 'trip switch'. (Apologies for my lack of correct terminology).
      I have:
      Panels -> MPPT -> Lithium battery -> Pure sinewave inverter.
      I'll be running transistor guitar amps and a computer (more or less) ..

    Be careful with installing that on a metal shed. Make sure you use insulation so nothing comes in contact with the metal in the shed.

    This man wanted electricity in his shed to run air filters and fans. Apparently this is due to his severe intestinal gas issue. He is known to stink out confined spaces very quickly

  • @dcpugh
    @dcpugh Рік тому

    Awesome job! I see you have a DC-only setup. Interesting ... any plans for an inverter off the battery for running AC equipment? Or are you sticking to DC? Besides lights, what will you run. Very inspirational!

    Hey mate, this is ace and exactly what I was thinking of (bar the solar and batteries). Just had a couple of questions.
    1. What size Handi did you go?
    2. Are there any council regulations about how close you can put the shed to the boundary? where I am it is 900mm.

    Why do so many UA-camrs believe music over their talking is professional? Its absurd and a waste of time for people who want to actually hear what you have to say.

    • @TheHandyTech
      @TheHandyTech  2 роки тому +1

      UA-cam is a free platform mate and people make videos in the way they like unfortunately. You can try the subtitle option if you have trouble hearing but otherwise you may have to move on. Thanks for watching anyway

      Cool story bwo, been Aussie, power connection to garden shed by sparky, so YOU CAN SEE SH1T when doors closed, or heavy rain.. will likely cost 1200$ not including trencher hire from house power box to small shed which can go up to 800-1000$.
      The batteries alone cost my self 400$, so that would be 800$ for just his two batteries. The electrical components I have seen go over 100-200 each depending
      This is why he said it was a steal.
