Run a torch over the scuffed plastic at a good speed and remelt the plastic to get rid of the scratches. Don't go slow, go pretty fast. Better to go too fast at first and then slow down till you get the right speed.

I`m dirt poor for life in Louisiana. I never dreamed I`d have solar powered air conditioning but for decades I did dream OF having it. Well, I saved my stimulus money and in July 2022 I bought the parts...a 2000 watt inverter, 60 amp MPPT solar charge controller, 20 amp plug-in charger, cables, fuses, testers, and a 300ah Ampere Time battery. I already had a few solar panels and got one more 200w one. My relatives called me several names for "wasting" my money instead of buying a leather couch, but guess which "crazy" guy had air conditioning in his 5th wheel camper when we had FIVE power outages during the extreme heat emergency this summer? LOL!

I`m a musician. I would LOVE a Taylor acoustic guitar and a home recording studio, but I know what to expect from Louisiana weather. When I first became unable to work I lived for two years in a camper van with nothing. I sold possessions to buy some fuel for a lamp, two cheap dollar store LED lights, and batteries for them and a little radio. I ate berries and pecans and a food pantry brought me a tiny box of food each month. I walked to a park with jugs to get water. It`s a horrible feeling knowing they`re coming to turn off your water and electricity. Then in 2020 we were hit by two hurricanes. We`ll get hit by more. It usually happens every 5 years. @@fisherkieds6282

Ever see how many fuse panels are in most modern vehicles and how 'bout them EV's? My old '06 Honda Odyssey has three panels (two behind the kick panels on the floor and the larger under the hood). The only thing you need to avoid when fusing is over amperage (using a 25 amp when only a 10 is required).

Very cool. A few things, I'd caulk all penetrations in the box, I'd add a fan to the top, and I'd make sure that the fans were feeding each other air - i.e, one is pulling in while the other is pushing the air out.

Well done, Keith . The bigger power from that battery would be great camping, bank fishin. Don't know that I'd put on the boat, but it would give access to 110 volt.
And I'm guessing that the Harbor Freight box is strong enough you could use it as a stool to set on. Either way, it ought to give you lots of options.
I didn't see much there on the install that I'd do different, 👍👍

I'll keep the wiring from the van battery so I can charge the 'tool box' from the alternator still. I'll probably use another connector so I can unplug the solar cable and plug in the alternator cable.
I have a dual set up in the van and can run all the 'camper' lights and fan off a Ryobi battery if something happens to my lithium battery.

I've built something similar for the inside of my truck ruinning a refrigerator etc.
Some suggestions : put on a seperate toggle switch for the volt meter so you can turn it off but keep everything else turned on.
Wire the kill switch to the negative instead of the positive.
put the intake holes for the air on the opposite side of the box than the exhaust so it pulls the air over all of the components.
wire all the main positives and negatives to the terminal posts , and then all the components to the fuse box so you can fuse everything off the fuse box alone - makes for a cleaner more centralized install.
Use 00 guage wire for the battery and charger , you always want to run a much bigger wire than you actually need for saftey / heat concerns. Running a larger copper wire will help keep down temps during a really hot day.
Silicone all of the outside around the drilled in components to better waterproof the box. It wont always be 100% waterproof but it'll help.
Determine how many amps / Watt hours each device you're using because the setup the guy created in the video is not sufficient for a coffee maker - they pull alot of power.

Just a heads up, with Lithium, it will run the 12.8 volts right up till it dies, unlike the old lead acid batteries so the volt meter is sorta useless. Look up a bluetooth shunt. That will give you a better indication of battery input/output/charge status.
    Good stuff right thar anyhoo.

Planning on making something nearly identical to this for my SHTF rig. Gonne get a bit bigger of a heavy duty tote (similar price, if not cheaper) and put two 200ah batteries in series. A 3000 watt inverter and everything else will pretty much be the same except for one small detail.
It’s gonna live in the rig so I’ll run a wire and switch so while I’m driving or idling, I can charge the battery from the alternator. 12v 5.9 for the win 😂

I did this with a different brand toolbox to run my husband's cpap for when we go camping or during power outages. Only I didn't use an inverter I was able to find a 12 volt adapter for his cpap and I run directly from the battery (with a fuse inline of course) It uses a lot less power that way and I was able to keep his cpap running for 2 nights when a wind storm took out our power and we had clouds and I couldn't recharge the battery. I still have the lead acid battery in this one and the wheels make all the difference. the LiFePO4 is on the camper I built and the inverter is in that.
But I've learn a few tricks from you. I'm going to be redoing it with a battery tray and fan in the box. I need to get one of those tool you used to cut of the ribs. that things cool. And where's you get the power meter? It's fancy, mine's not nearly a colorful.

On cutting holes in those boxes, I’ve had good luck running a simple de-burring tool (pen scraper, swivel scraper, what-you-call-it) inside cuts on these kinds of plastic tubs (rigid ABS, etc, too) and sanding sponge for finer finish - fast and clean, doesn’t chew as much as the vibe-tool blade or scraper, better than a break-blade. $5 (down to free on a giveaway) at HF.

When you are shopping for an inverter, it is very important to spend a little extra money and get a pure sine wave inverter like he used here and not the cheaper regular square wave one.
The reason is the cheaper square wave ones do not have a clean electrical signal and it is not good for a lot of things that we use like charging cell phones. The sine wave inverter perfectly mimics the electricity that comes from your regular house outlets. The cheap ones don't and they put out a dirty electrical current which is not good for a lot of electrical devices.
The sine wave inverter is also more efficient so you don't have as much power loss from the conversion. They have usually about 90% to 95% efficiency vs about 75% to 85% efficiency with a square wave inverter. You don't want to mess up a battery on an expensive cell phone to save a little bit on the inverter.
