How to remove patio door on vinyl siding
How to install Reliabilt sliding door from Lowes
In this video I show you how I removed an old sliding patio door on vinyl siding without removing the siding.
The process is much easier than you expect. What you will need is a good oscilating tool that will cut the through the nailing flange of the old vinyl sliding door.
Once you have the flange cut, caulking removed and screws out, you are good to remove the old sliding patio door.
You will next prep the framing by beefing up the framing if necessary and taping the bottom of the sides for further water control. Dry fit the new patio door, level and plum it then proceed to screw it onto the framing. Wrap up the job with insulation, trim and silicon caulk.
I hope you enjoy the video and as always leave me a comment with any questions.

installing new sliding doors is always good, but I want to share with you my experience, I live in Orlando Florida, I contacted the Masterslide company with the problem of my sliding doors (if you ask, I will share the contacts) they replaced the rollers, installed a track cover and a new handle with a lock. Now my door is like new and I'm as happy as a child! And most importantly, I thought that I saved more than two thousand dollars! Just because repairs are cheaper!))) so think before ordering new ones. This is not advertising, this is my case.

Totally agree with you. In this case the grids were falling apart between the glass. I got a quote to replace the two slides for over 3k and it would take 3-4 weeks! Good point you make though, always check for replacement and repairs. Thanks for watching 👊🏼

Why would you put the active opening over the air vent? The original door was correct with the stationary panel by the air vent.

Yea, no choice there. The active door was on that side. I would have had to special order a door cause it wasn’t in stock. Good point though.

@@TrueGritDevelopment glad you didn’t just flip the door. The builder for my place decided to put the inside out.

How is this water tight at all?

You have nothing up top keeping water from collecting and making its way in between the header.

Good question. The J channel over the door drains water to the sides. This is also the case with windows. Water is guided through the J channels from the top to the sides and out. The flashing tape I installed at the bottom is an additional measure in the event water ever goes in. Thanks for watching 👊🏼
