I did vinyl siding professionally for years and taught myself this method a long time ago. One method I leaned on over and over as I had a thing about not seeing fasteners, was I relied on caulking a lot instead of nails or rivets. Geocel was my caulk of choice and I would put a good gob on both sides at the top and support the corner till the caulk set up. That allowed the corner to expand down and not wrinkle when it expanded. Great video!

So damn! I guess I did not invent this method! LOL I often wondered if others did this same thing.
Yes I should have mentioned the caulking at the top but forgot because in this case it was not needed as the corner fit to the concrete. Thanks for the feed back!

Thanks!!!! Clearly and patiently explained. Glad I didn't go ahead and try to replace part of the piece. I had no idea this could be done. Appreciate your sharing this information.

Thank you Shannon. I had two damaged corner pieces that I put off replacing for 10 years, as it was too expensive. Your insightful video led me to believe I could do it myself, and your calm mannerism was nice to learn from. Even though the corner pieces available were 1/4 inch shorter on each side, cutting off the old and using the tool you suggested made the new pieces fit nicely. One helpful suggestion would be to use leather gloves when cutting with the utility knife. Those final shards cut a few knuckles doing the first piece, and the leather gloves made cutting the second piece much safer.
    Thanks again!

I've got a rental property where the tenants dog was on a chain and it tore the crap out of the corner of the house . I guess this is how I'm going to fix it . Thanks !
