I appreciate your calm, direct, thorough explanations. No music, no screaming.
I've been in construction for a little under 20 years and I gotta tell ya that's the slickest shit I've ever seen. .. well done sir.
That’s what I was thinking...put on a ton of siding too
I've been in the business for years and never thought of this! It's a dull day if you don't learn something new. Thanks for a great educational video!
This guy is a really good teacher. What a great idea to save yourself from pulling all of the siding off to repair a corner piece.
Oh thank goodness this video is here! Our corner piece broke and I had and someone come out to do and estimate. Just to replace the corner piece be used they said they had to remove all that siding first was going to be $1200! This video is a money saver!!! I know what I’m doing this weekend! 👍😁
👌🏿👍👍👍
Wow!! Crazy I've been in the remodeling business for a good while and I just replaced 4 corners and installed 160 feet of new fascia and 2 replacement windows for 1, 300 I'm charging way to low, lol

@@roberturibe6624 nice I will definitely look in to it. thank you!! I do appreciate the suggestion,,
I'm always dumbfounded by how simple and logically you explain the hows and whys. Definitely worthy of a Netflix or Hulu originals channel. Thank you.
Not only an excellent tip but very well presented. Clear, concise, and easy to listen to with no airs.
Very fine video Sir! The Bob Ross of home repairs!
No words can cover how this video can help a weekend warrior like myself to handle this very issue that I have. I will definitely play it forward for friends and neighbors, Totally agree that you are a great speaker and that your professional customers are thankful to have your services.
My corner broke about a month ago during a wind storm and have been dreading the repair. Your video is so timely and the technique you propose is elegant and will save hours of work. Thank you for your time and effort!
Ditto. I'd recommend wearing gloves when cutting. even the vinyl is sharp when cut.
Ditto: well said
Hello, I'm in the same boat. My corner was busted from a company that plowed my driveway. The corner has been exposed and I'm afraid the wood will get wet or worse rot. Is there anything i should do before they replace with a new piece?
@@rtta51yeah I just did this on a customer's house after we damaged their corner during a tree job and my hands are all sliced up like a Thanksgiving turkey.
Wow! Very slick. I will be doing this SOON! I'm taking note that the biggest challenge is to make sure my cuts are correct on both the broken piece and it's replacement. Thank you for sharing your tips.
Was very much dreading doing the FULL replacement from nails-siding approach and glad to have run across this as I prep on a finally non-windy day here! Going for it and I hope it holds up to the local winds! LOL time will tell.... I may add some construction adhesive but then it will affect any future replacement needed. But at that point it's probably time for new siding all around anyway! Thanks for the vid!
Damned dog tore up bottom corner of exterior post siding chasing a damned critter. Excellent video for tips on saving time and money
Another great job in demonstration and explanation. You keep this up and homeowners won’t need any tradesman. Lol
I almost never comment on here. But just wanted to give a quick thank you for this video and for the clear, concise instructions. Did this yesterday and it worked perfectly! Thanks again and keep the videos coming!
You just showed me how to turn a 4 hr job into 20 mins. Thank you sir!!!! 👏🏼🙌🏼
I don’t work on sidings but needed to help a customer with needed repairs and needed some how to knowledge, this video was beyond helpful it resolved a dilemma that would have turned a quick job into a 1-2 days work. Big Thank you.
I do a lot of remodeling handyman work and construction.
And you're a very knowledgeable and professional person.
I love watching your videos I always learn so much!!
Thank you for all your hard work amigo!! 🙂
Clever solution for repairing common vinyl siding corner damage. I've been masking the damage with color matched tape to avoid pulling the siding off to get to the nails. Now I'll be hitting a big box store tomorrow for some new pieces to make my shed look new again. Thanks for clearly demonstrating this time saving technique!
Just replaced three corners on my daughter’s first home using this method…. I appreciate the simple detailed instruction.. Thanks!!!
Watching you replace that corner had saved me not only money, but a ton of time. GLAD I FOUND YOU GUYS 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
He's a good teacher. And I understand him . Very explaintory
Thank you so much for posting this! I've had a broken outside corner that I was dreading replacing. Thanks to you, it was easy! You saved me hours!!!
Just wanted to say thanks, This worked for me. I used an electric multitool instead of the utility knife. worked super fast.
Watching videos like this is more than learning how to fix a vinyl corner. It teaches you creative problem solving that you can use on other projects.
This is one of the best repair videos I’ve seen. This made a very time consuming job sooo much simpler!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks Shannon. I made my shed and fixed my vinyl corner using your videos! You made it all a breeze.
Even the 16000 plus likes don’t do this video justice. Thank you sir 👏
I'm a handyman that's never done siding work, and actually have a couple of clients that need some siding work done, and there are a couple of corner pieces that need replacement. So this video showing up on my recommended list is perfect timing. Thanks!
I cracked a corner today. Pissed me off so much as it was my fault. I came across this video and immediately had a sigh of relief. I’ll be doing this tomorrow. Thanks!
2 minutes and I can tell this is brilliant. Just using the standard materials in a non-standard way.
You made my day! I boogered up a corner five years ago removing a fence post that the previous owner installed way too close to the house. I've been dreading the day that repair would get to the top of my to-do list. Not a problem anymore. Also, glad for the tip that warm vinyl cuts easier than cold vinyl.
OUTSTANDING: I've been looking at the bottom of one of my corners that I see every time I drive by it in FRONT of the house. Many years ago, I glued a piece from behind but the crack always shows. And NOW YOU arrive on the scene and I say THANKS, liked & SUBSCRIBED!!! Sonny (CT)
Been using this technique for years. Sometimes the new corner will fit over the broken one with doing anything to the broken one. Hint: use a 4 inch grinder with a cut off wheel to make your cuts. You'll never use a knife again.
I was thinking no need to remove old gonna try that way
Just cracked my corner with the weed wacker on Saturday. This is fantastic.
awesome...i was wondering at the beginning if you were only replacing the small section where the break was and how you would retrofit the horizontal seam. Now I see you did the entire corner...makes sense
Your video just popped out solved my problem which I hand a damaged siding and corner. I am going to do it this weekend. It was an eye sore for a long time thanks to your video problem solved!!!
Great video and explanation! I just sold my house and have to fix a corner that is damaged. You saved me a lot of time! Thanks for taking the time to put this information out!
Thanks! We have that problem and I had no idea how to repair it until seeing your video.Excellent video and sharing that information will help a lot of people!!
You are seriously the best out there. You are so calm, organized and detailed. Simply amazing work.
This is an excellent video! Very clear and easy way to solve the problem.
Probably one of the best vinyl siding handy hints I've seen - thank you sir.
Awesome trick...never thought about doing it this way..what a timesaver and still a quality job !
You just saved me hours of work my friend
thank you for this information. previous owner had broke the corners with lawn mower and I was told I would have to replace all the siding . What a money and time saver. Thank you again.
Shannon, thank you very much! I, too, took a chunk out of a corner with a weedwacker. Your video is exactly what I needed. Much appreciated.
Very cool. Vinyl siding is one of the greatest inventions. Thanks Shannon.
Thank you for all of your instructional videos. I gave just completed one project by using your techniques and you have just saved approximately $4,000.00
I'll echo what countless have others have said, thank you for explaining this is a concise and easy to understand manner. I know you've helped me save a little money by doing some things around the house myself, and I'd bet you've probably saved countless others even more money than you've saved me. Keep up the phenomenal work.
Excellent. I will be using this method to repair damage from years ago. It never seemed worth all the trouble, but I can do this.
thanks for the tip, I used a multitool to do my cuts and some silicone caulk into the corners to hold them tight.
I just wanted to say I just replaced my piece of corner siding using your method here and it worked brilliantly. Saved me hours of work. Thank you!!
Holy crap, Shannon. I've been siding for 15 years now and just learned this....you rock, buddy. Thank you!
Another great video.
You,my friend, have saved me a lot of money so far.
Keep up the good work.
This was a great video, but.........i really wanted to comment on a previous video you did on how to do a drop ceiling. I got put into the position of having to do two bedroom ceilings having never done a drop ceiling before. Not one video that I found was helpful at all, except yours, which was detailed and completely understandable. I did two " perfect" ceilings, and the tiles with a recessed edge, like you recommended were the difference maker, they were so beautiful. You have an incredible gift as a teacher. A simple thankyou is not enough.
Thank you
@@HouseImprovements and thank You!!!
This is the Best instructional video I have ever seen. You do an awesome job Sir. Keep up the excellent work! Bob Steele, Military retired, Alberta, Canada...
My landscapers lawnmower struck the corner and damaged it like your was only worse. This is a great idea on how to fix without major labor. Thanks !👍👌
I dont even need to replace anything, just like watching his videos lol
I know, they are the best!
Me, too!
Certain people just have that gift

Perfect!!! Thank you. Damaged some of my vinyl replacing a storm door.. will be using this method.
Have been in the business 40 years and that is the best idea I've seen I never would have thought of doing that thanks a bunch I can make some money doing it your way
Hi. I’m gonna try it myself Tuesday. Thanks mate !
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you.
I wish I had seen this video 3 days ago. I did the first one the “hard” way and the next one I ended up making a small patch basically the way you did. Very good video
Arrghhh! Me too! I just spend close to 2 hours in the hot sun doing it the WRONG way.
Brilliant work around!
Been doing home remodeling for 23 year's and learn something new everyday great job
5 years after the creation of the video and still helpful! Thank you!
Wow, one of the coolest fixes I have seen! Great video!
Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
One of the best videos I have seen. Excellent details. You took your time and covered the instructions perfectly. Thank you!!!
Had a fella hit mind with a weed eater, was wondering how to replace the corner! awesome instructions, thanks
Great information for every home owner.
Thank you very much for that video, my siding has got alot of dings. Now I can fix them.
Awesome demonstration on this! Just replaced a broken corner piece today and it looks great! Thank you!
My friend has a vinyl sided home and your videos have been so much help in saving her, a new homeowner, much time and money!! Thanks again!!
Great to hear!
Wish I seen this a month ago! I just replaced my corner the hard way! Lol. Now I know for the next time. Thanks! That was a great video.
Thanks for posting this. My very destructive German shepherd pup has just gnawed on the vinyl corner piece of our new garage and it looks like I will be repairing it.
The next Tim the tool man. Saved me from replacing all my siding
Thank you Shannon. I had two damaged corner pieces that I put off replacing for 10 years, as it was too expensive. Your insightful video led me to believe I could do it myself, and your calm mannerism was nice to learn from. Even though the corner pieces available were 1/4 inch shorter on each side, cutting off the old and using the tool you suggested made the new pieces fit nicely. One helpful suggestion would be to use leather gloves when cutting with the utility knife. Those final shards cut a few knuckles doing the first piece, and the leather gloves made cutting the second piece much safer.
Thanks again!
You have taught me so much in your videos ! This really was special .. Thank You so much .
Thanks for a great video Shannon! I have to do a similar repair and hadn’t done to due to the amount of labor.
Thank you sir. I just got into doing my own business with siding and I have not seen this yet. I definitely am able to do repairs and not charge a steep price to my clients.
Thank you so much for your presentation. You make it easy. I'm moving into an old farmhouse in need of a lot of care, and the siding is one of my priorities. I was concerned about the amount of work to be put in to replace one corner piece. You saved my day or possibly my whole weekend.. thank you. Excellent video.
Fantastic job best content I have seen on this type of repair..👍👍
Very clever. My wife will be shocked when the corner finally gets repaired - after all these years.
Totally awesome video, thank you, my corner siding has been broke for 2 years, had no idea how to fix it, thank you, come summer ill be giving it a go. so glad i found your channel.
Very clever. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
I have to admit that I was very skeptical at first. But it turned out nicely and definitely a lot easier than removing all the siding. Thank you for the info.
What a great time saver! I will definitely put this to good use✌️
You made it look so easy, I’m glad I found you
This is so stinkin genius. This is "every man" house repair. Save time and money by doing it "good enough." Thank you so much!
That’s genius. Awesome work thanks for the lesson!
I did vinyl siding professionally for years and taught myself this method a long time ago. One method I leaned on over and over as I had a thing about not seeing fasteners, was I relied on caulking a lot instead of nails or rivets. Geocel was my caulk of choice and I would put a good gob on both sides at the top and support the corner till the caulk set up. That allowed the corner to expand down and not wrinkle when it expanded. Great video!
So damn! I guess I did not invent this method! LOL I often wondered if others did this same thing.
Yes I should have mentioned the caulking at the top but forgot because in this case it was not needed as the corner fit to the concrete. Thanks for the feed back!
Can you do this with an inside corner also?
@@ChristIsLord229 I never did but I’m sure you can.
Like everyone else on this thread, I was truly thankful to find this video. The only tip that I would add is using a hook blade instead of a straight blade will help tremendously.
Awesome video! I'm going to do this next week depending if I can find the color I need. Now to search UA-cam for more of his handy videos to save time and money!!!
I used a heavy string weed whacker and messed up two corner pieces, now thanks to this video, I know exactly what to do and no need to hire anyone to do it, thanks
This same situation just happened to me. 😭
@@rodrigoessinger ultimately we had a hail storm and the insurance paid for all new siding
@@ralph0901 ooff. When it rains it pours, as they say. Glad the insurance covered it.
insurance rates went up a tiny bit, but well worth it, got a new house out of it
Thank you for the video. I did this today, and it worked wonderfully. Extra tip, spray tarantulas with WD40 to get them out of your way.
I was just watching on you tube and just happened to stubble on this channel. I actually have one broken on my house ,I was snow blowing the driveway and accidentally hit the corner . Now I know how I will replace it , very good video thanks.
My wife is selling a home and has two large pieces eatin by some kinda critter. This just saved me a ton of time. I was planningon removing all kinds of siding and spending vast amounts of time. THIS ROCKS !!
Never thought I'd see a youtbe on how to fix the corner I broke.
There is a fix for everything on UA-cam it's great
Great job there are thousands of these damaged corners could make some income doing this
Genius, thanks for sharing. Give a man a fish feed him for a day, teach him to fish feed him for life. Doing a lot of vinyl repairs lately, I know how many hours this will save. Appreciate your generosity.
Absolutely . I have found it to work very well 99% of the time it is exactly what is needed.
Great video, something I’ll probably never do but I really like the way you get in and explain to people how to get it done👍
