Hi, I'm the commissioner (SeaworthinessSame392 from the Death Battle Matchups sub). Credit to HyperSuda as the original creator of this matchup. I just tweaked their idea a bit with the army vs army focus.
Connections:
Villainous blond-haired siblings to the main protagonist. Both head a terrorist organization that was founded by a group of ex-soldiers and plans to overthrow the government. They are cold, ruthless and, above all, exceptionally intelligent and are supported by millitaristic groups who worship their heritage. Both were placed into high-level government programs from a young age that lead them to develop their respective views on the world, including a distain for their own genetics. They both also have control over a giant pilotable weapon that they consider a key part of their overall plans.
I've mentioned in the past that I think Albert Wesker (Resident Evil) is Liquid's best 1v1 opponent. But after really thinking long and hard about this one, I realized Zeke offered something very special for Liquid. A commander opponent.
Rather than just have the two duke it out 1v1, I reimagined it as a siege battle done in the style of the Battle of Fort Slava. With a more numerous battalion of Marleyan/Eldian soldiers led by Magath and supported by the Warrior Unit and mindless titans invading Shadow Moses Island, defended by Liquid, FOXHOUND, the Genome Soldiers, and their various vehicles. An epic ensemble piece that I've actually grown to love even more as a concept than my own Picard vs Thrawn idea.
There's just so many awesome possibilities. The battle opening with Marleyan skirmishes briefly overwhelming some of the facility's guards in an ambush, before Liquid and Ocelot enter the fray and unleash a combination of CQC and gun-fu. Pieck and her Panzer Unit being put to the test by the base's two modern Abrams tanks. Gabi, Falco, Colt, and a small force of Marleyans trying to sneak around the base, only to get into a sniper duel with Wolf. Psycho Mantis harassing the invaders with his powers and coercing some of them to turn their guns on one another. Zeke and Liquid having their first encounter when the former has to provide anti-air defense against the latter's HIND gunship. Vulcan Raven having an epic final stand against numerous mindless titans and Marleyan conscripts to buy time for Liquid to get the base's trump card ready. And finally the battle climaxing with the combined Warrior Unit taking on the mighty Metal Gear REX. I like to imagine it would come down to an all-or-nothing Hail Mary gambit by Zeke as he tosses Bertholdt at the war machine for a point blank Colossal Titan transformation.
We've never gotten a canon number of guards on Shadow Moses Island, and it's difficult to judge due to respawning guards being a thing. I would assume it's probably a company-sized force (about 200-250 soldiers at the maximum). To compensate for the weaker armaments and training, I think it's only fair that the Marleyans be battallion-sized, with at least 1000 men. Or potentially up to 3000 if that's too conservative.
Also I should mention that in the scenario I envisioned, REX's nuclear arsenal would actually be ineffectual. It assumes that a portal opens up from AoT Earth to Shadow Moses Island (it's vs debating logic, just roll with it). So using it would be the ultimate pyrrhic victory. Liquid would pretty much have to destroy his own base and irradiate the island. Not a good way to go about making a new Outer Heaven. Nah, we're assuming he takes on Zeke and the Warrior Unit with REX's conventional weaponry.
Though, assuming he wins, I could totally see Liquid taking the surviving Marleyan and Warriors hostage (keeping the latter sedated). And then marching REX through to AoT Earth to give a small demonstration of its nuclear capabilities. Before then demanding tribute as compensation for Shadow Moses' fallen and for the safe return of the hostages. Or Marley may well see Liberio be the first city in the history of its world to go up in a nuclear blaze.
Oh yeah, and I should also mention that I originally just thought 'Attack on Shadow Moses' seemed like a fitting enough title. It was what ZoologyTome put on the track art they did for it earlier in the year after all. But Brandon convinced me 'Sins of the Father' would be better because of an interesting idea he had. To continue the tradition set by 'Sins of Liberty' and have Big Boss and all three of his sons have tracks that start with those words.
Any ideas for the other options? One idea I had for Liquid's other awesome matchup against Albert Wesker (Resident Evil) is 'Sins of Madness'. A little pun related to Wesker's theme from RE5. Conversely Solid Snake vs Chris Redfield would be the best option for a Snake return and a Chris debut (and yes, I do think the character connections are way better than Chris vs Stryker). 'Sins of Bioterror', perhaps?
Big Boss though is a bit of a tricky one. I'm not sure if any of his opponent options is what you'd consider the perfect choice. Nick Fury (Marvel) is the obvious one I guess. Jango Fett (Star Wars) would be kind of neat. Though I think the most interesting one I've heard so far is Kiritsugu Emiya (Fate). Not sure what kinds of names you could get from those.

@@StarWritterSW To be honest, I'm a bit tired of Armstrong when it comes to matchups. You'd think the entire series revolved around him with how overused he is in this fandom. Be interested to hear the Big Boss ones though.

I think the titan can win if it gets close enough,since its just a gigantic human it will have more enginuity and flexibility.of course,if it doesn't get fkn gunned down or curb stomped.

I don’t recall Titans having durability beyond City Block Level while the Metal Gears are at least Multi City Block Level scaling to Raiden
Also any difference in stats would be compensated for by Liquid who’s way smarter then Zeke. In fact Liquid’s had his hand in around 1/3 of everything that’s ever happened in Metal Gear as a whole directly and indirectly

@@TheUncivilizedNation I would also like to point out that Liquid has far faster reaction speeds. He scales to both Revoler Ocelot and Naked Snake/Big Boss reacting to Volgin's lightning. By comparison, one of the absolute best speed feats in all of AoT is when Levi perceived the Beast Titan's thrown rocks in slow motion... which was only Mach 10, which is nothing compared to Ocelot and the Snakes, plus Levi blitzed Zeke.
So, REX is one of the fastest Metal Gears, and it is piloted by a man with _far_ superior reaction speeds and reflexes than Zeke. GG.

I think it can safely be said that Liquid would certainly have a blast fighting Zeke and Marley. He might commend them for giving him a challenge as he stands over Zeke's dead body and likely the obliterated remains of Marley.

Do you think that the fight should start with Metal Gear vs. Titan or have it in the middle? Also, do you think it would be cool if while the Metal Gear and Titan are fighting, we can see a shot of the armies fighting simultaneously?
There's also the fact that both of them aren't too shabby when it comes to fighting in their normal human modes. Liquid scales to both Naked Snake and Revolver Ocelot reacting to Volgin's lightning, and Zeke scales to Eren reacting to a cannonball and Levi seeing the Beast Titan's thrown rocks in slow-motion. They are also explicitly about as skilled in martial arts as some of the best fighters of their verses, such as Solid Snake and Eren.
Needless to say, even if their giant modes (Metal Gear REX and Beast Titan) are knocked out of commission, both Liquid and Zeke can just hop out and start duking it out in plain simple hand-to-hand combat, warrior to warrior.

This goes so hard, I love how Shadow Moses Island's theme was implemented. I wonder who wins this.
Probably the Shadow Moses side, but barely. Zeke not only has his Beast Titan form, but he should also have the Cart, Jaw, Armored, Colossus and Female Titans as well, and Marley has FAR higher numbers (1,000 - 3,000 soldiers to Shadow Moses' ~250). That said, Liquid's forces have _MUCH_ greater technology, with the Genome Soldiers have enhanced reaction speeds and 180 IQ intelligence, and the Metal Gear REX is built to withstand nuclear wars.
Both Liquid and Zeke would have no idea about each other's weaknesses. The Attack on Titan universe has never had to fight technology as advanced as the Genome Soldiers and REX. On the other hand, nothing like the Titans exist in the MG universe. Neither side is familiar with each other's best weapons. *_HOWEVER Liquid has one very important fighter on his side: Psycho Mantis._* As one of the most powerful psychics, Mantis could easily use his powers to read the minds of Marley's leaders to find out exactly what their weaknesses are, and then report all of it to Liquid. Therefore, the Marleyans have no reliable way to find out Shadow Moses' weaknesses on their own, but Mantis is the perfect asset for Liquid to quickly discover the Titans' weakness and exploit them by aiming REX's firepower at the nape. The Marleyans also wouldn't think of targeting Mantis either, because they have no way to find out about his psychic powers (mostly because psychics like Mantis just don't exist in AoT). Mantis' ability to constantly read Marley's weaknesses and strategies will leave Marley with a _HUGE_ disadvantage in terms of strategy. No matter what Zeke comes up with, and no matter how good Magath leads the army, Mantis will be able to instantly read their minds and then allow Liquid to devise counter attacks.
*We also know that Metal Gear REX has weapons powerful enough to pierce even the Armored Titan.* The Nine Titans can punch through stone walls without injury, but the REX has a laser beam that can easily slice off Gray Fox's cyborg arm. These are the same metal arms that were strong enough to hold up REX's 500-ton body, so REX's laser would have no problem chopping up the Titans like a lightsaber. Liquid can just fire the REX's laser into the Titans' chest and skewer right through the nape on the other side of their bodies to One-Hit K.O. them. If that isn't enough, REX also carries huge volleys of anti-tank missiles that could even damage other Metal Gears like RAY (which was supposed to be designed for destroying REX), so even the Armored Titan and Colossus Titan wouldn't be tough enough to withstand them. And again, Mantis will be able to quickly tell Liquid about the weaknesses of the Titans, so the REX would be able to take on all of Marley's Titan Shifters by aiming the REX's superior firepower against their weak spots.
The major hurdle left remaining is *Shadow Moses' FOXHOUND unit and the Genome Soldiers versus the general military of Marley.* The airships wouldn't be an issue for Shadow Moses' planes to shoot down, and the Genome Soldiers all have Big Boss' soldier genes in their bodies that grant them superior intelligence and reaction speed. This alone gives them a huge advantage over Marley's general infantry, because most of Marley's troops are only peak human level at best, while the Genome Soldiers scale to Big Boss and Revolver Ocelot reacting to Volgin's lightning. It's basically a contest of Quality VS Quantity: Shadow Moses' generally superhuman fighters and better technology VS Marley's far bigger army with soldiers who are only normal humans. Speaking of Ocelot, he and Sniper Wolf could pin down large numbers of the Marley army with their precise shooting, while Vulcan Raven can wreak havoc with his giant gun and the tank that he pilots. Octopus is... honestly pretty useless because he doesn't have the time or information to infiltrate Marley's army, and Mantis alone is perfectly capable of getting intel using his psychic powers. With the strategic intel from Mantis and their higher tech (better guns, the Hind-D, etc), each Genome Soldier could probably take down at least 10-15 Marley soldiers each.
*_TL;DR_** Don't get me wrong, it would not be an easy fight for either side.* More than half of the Genome Soldiers and a few FOXHOUND agents will probably succumb to the swarming numbers of Marley troops. And REX is outnumbered against six Titan Shifters which means that at least a few of them can land hammering attacks on REX that would leave plenty of damage on its hull (especially the Colossus Titan's explosion). But Shadow Moses' advantages in advanced technology, strategy (thanks to Mantis), superior fighters overall and REX's incredible firepower over the Titans' durability means that Liquid Snake and his forces barely edge out over the bloodstained war zone.
It’s really just Liquid piloting Metal Gear REX and Psycho Mantis guiding him. That’s about all that Shadow Moses needs to win. Everything else is just overkill. Especially if Liquids actually in there long enough to find the Street Fighter program. Only reason he didn’t the first time was because he’d only had it for less then a day and was dealing with Solid Snake
With Psycho Mantis being able to see into everyone’s mind including the weakness of the Titans I’m sure he could inform Liquid to direct his forces exactly where he needs them. And where Liquid needs to aim the Railgun
@@TheUncivilizedNation Honestly, Liquid probably wouldn't even need the railgun to defeat the Titans + Shifters. As I mentioned in the first reply, the Metal Gear REX's other weapons (like the laser beam and anti-tank missiles) are clearly strong enough to even pierce through the Armored Titan, which is the toughest. The railgun is obviously the best fit, but Liquid could still aim REX's other weapons at the Titan napes to take them out if he needs to.
Also, there is no way for the Marley side to figure out that Mantis can read their minds, because psychics like him do not exist in the world of AoT. This means that Zeke and his side would never think about targeting Mantis to shut him up. Even if the Marley side SOMEHOW discovers that Mantis is probing their minds, that would not help very much. Mantis canonically wears invisibility camouflage when he fights, so the Marley side wouldn't even be able to find him in the chaos of the battlefield (IIRC the Marley soldiers do not have goggles that could let them see an invisible enemy). All while Mantis continues to relay their strategies and weaknesses to Liquid piloting REX.
@mrreyes5004 another thing to not forget that Psycho Mantis has: mind control. He can make most, if not, all of the soldiers fight for Liquid.

As much as I love AoT, I know damn well anyone from it is screwed in a vs scenario
Marley being a whole country definitely gives them the edge in the numbers but there's almost a century of technological advancement between them and Shadow Moses
As for an AoT matchup I would actually love to see? Armin vs Amiya from Arknights, I'd unironically love to see an AoT collab in AK, they're two universes I think would fit perfectly into each other

@@pablotomasllodra4423 You should give AoT some credit at least, the anti-titan guns and other titan-based marley weaponry are also pretty advanced for the obviously 1940s inspired world of timeskip AoT, so putting 100 years between them and the Metal Gear World doesn't seen so far fetched if you ask me, it's just an estimate

I saw someone suggest a Bayverse Optimus vs Eren since both are controversial and brutal leaders who kill willingly and brutally. I think that could be fun.
@@shuvodev7888 Armin and Amiya were both teenagers forced into leadership positions who just want people to stop fighting each other, and feel immense guilt over the people that have died because of them, including someone they considered a friend after being betrayed by them. Their respective eldian and oripathy infected status causing them to be vilified by most of the world just for existing, while also being hated by a terrorist organisation made up of the oppressed for not agreeing with their goal of genocide. To top this all off, their titan shifting and originium arts abilities ensure they will die at an early age.

Never Be Game Over
Let's see, Shadow Moses Island should have:
- better technology
- better infantry
- metal gear(s?)
- Liquid Snake
- better aircraft
And, Marley should have:
- far more numbers
- better navy
- several titans (at the very least, Armored, Beast, Cart and Jaw. But if you take Marley at its peak they'd have Armored, Beast, Jaw, Colossal, Cart and Warhammer)
The Metal Gear(s) should have way better offensive capabilities, but the titans have way more maneuverability and adaptability. If Marley is at its peak and has all of its Titans, I say they win through sheer numbers. If it's final season Marley, Shadow Moses/Liquid wins
All of that implies you’re not considering the feats Metal Gear characters have and scaling. Metal Gear Rex and Liquid Snake is all they need to win.

Liquid alone with Metal Gear RAY could solo all of Marley at once. And his greater intelligence means he’ll move his troops exactly where he needs them to deal with the Titans
Liquid should have multiple RAY’s on standby. Only reason he didn’t use them was because Raiden soloed them all before they were deployed
@@TheUncivilizedNation There's also the fact that an army battle involving all of Liquid's forces would include Psycho Mantis... who is a *_HUGE_* problem for Zeke and Marley. Forget the other FOXHOUND agents - Mantis could read the Marley soldiers' minds to find out their strategies and discover the Titan Shifters' weaknesses (i.e. the back of the neck). Not to mention telepathically brainwashing Marley soldiers to turn against Zeke.
Or Mantis could just pull a Coordinate by brainwashing and taking control of the Pure Titans from the Beast Titan (it's not like Zeke ever had perfect control of them anyway) and unleash them back onto Marley and the Titan Shifters. Even if the multiple Titan Shifters worked together to gang up on REX or RAY, there's no way they could successfully keep up with the firepower of the Metal Gears _AND_ Mantis sending Marley's own horde of Pure Titans back at them at the same time.
Again, all of this isn't including the talents and skills of the other FOXHOUND members like Ocelot, Raven and Wolf. Psycho Mantis literally just being there and part of the equation presents a _MASSIVE_ strategic disadvantage and logistics disadvantage for the Marleyans that they can barely withstand as it is, let alone dealing with that _AND_ Shadow Moses' superior technology and firepower simultaneously.

A bummer that I’m on vacation so won’t be able to listen to those songs to their best for a while.
I’ll admit that the premise of Metal Gear VS AoT and more precisely a Metal Gear VS a Titan I’d very interesting an definitely makes for an original thing.
I really appreciate how the whole song mixes the more « industrial »/« technological » side of Metal Gear’s OST (along with of course its main theme but I’ll go back to that later) and the more orchestral/choir side of AoT. Makes for an original combination that still works very well in the end.
Going back a bit I of course need to mention how well the main Metal Gear theme was included here. It’s present for a big majority of the song but only in short bursts in a way that doesn’t make it feel omnipresent and overshadowing. Not to mention that the theme is often « answered to » by an AoT choir to really make it seem like a back and forth between both franchises’ songs. This kind of things really manage to get across that it’s a fight between two characters (Or a lot in this case) while not breaking the flow of the song at all.
Another thing that I’ll note is just how damn intense the whole thing is, prime example being the ending (3:05-3:33) where the percussions are just overpowering even the main melody that’s now relegated to the background . And that’s something that, while not as extreme in the rest of the song, is still noticeable. This really gets the point across that the involved characters (and groups) are not laughing around and are a massive threat to be reckoned with.
Overall I’ll admit that this song is not the most to my taste but I definitely can’t ignore its objective quality which is great. Great job with this.

Agreed. A lot of recent fights have been decided by raw power, absurd speed or extreme toughness. But a team battle like this would be more about tactics and skill, which would be great to see. This fight won't just be about Liquid and Zeke hitting each other with powerful attacks, it will be about who is the superior leader and who has better assets for strategy (i.e. Mantis' mind powers, Pieck's stamina & mobility, etc). Team battles/Army battles would be a great way to that show that those other stats are important too.

Before you yell at me hear me out. Yes I'm well aware these two have nothing in common and its an absolute shit stomp in Jenny's favor, but the title for the track I picked perfectly describes why this match up exists because back when Steven Universe The Movie came out a lot of people took a look at the poster and said hey the antagonist looks a lot like Jenny Wakeman from MLAATR, and thus this match up was born.

Considering AOT is like Demon Slayer where they barley have any MU's where they win, likely Metal Gear.

Gee, the Metal Gear REX can fire nuclear warheads at over Mach 291 (much faster than anything that AoT characters ever reacted to, including Levi), its laser beam can easily slice through Gray Fox's cyborg limbs, and its hull can tank Snake's modern rocket launcher and other weapons surpassing the rocks that the Beast Titan can throw. Seems pretty stacked against the Beast Titan.
There's also the fact that Zeke can only stay in the Beast Titan form for so long, while no such time limit exists for Liquid piloting REX. The Beast Titan's nape and REX's radome are both physical weaknesses, but the radome is a less obvious one (bc the nape is naturally a weak point even in normal humans and other vertebrates. Also, destroying REX's radome only forces Liquid to fight with the cockpit open, which means he can still fight and win, but destroying the Titan's nape could insta-kill Zeke immediately because of the raw power that REX is packing. Liquid and the Metal Gear just have way more advantages going for them in general.

Sorry, but no. While I did ultimately decide that Birth By Exile would be more interesting with vocals, I'm happy with Sins of the Father as is. I really don't feel like it's a track that needs vocals. Since I wanted it to feel like a fusion between tracks like 'Alert' and 'Duel' from Metal Gear, and 'Ashes on the Fire' and 'APETITAN' from Attack on Titan. There's orchestral chanting in the latter, but that's kind of already covered in this track.
Plus the battle idea is meant to be more of an ensemble piece rather than just Liquid vs Zeke on their own (though of course they'd clash multiple times over it). And while Brandon and his team are very skilled, it's hard to imagine there'd be lyrics that could fit for all the players involved (all of FOXHOUND, the Warrior Unit, the Genome Army, the Marleyan soldiers, etc.).
@@SeaWorthiness sticking to a prefered artistic style for your music is a reasonable explanation, as vocals add a stylistic change in terms of conveyance of themes, execution etc. The one thing that has always gravitated me toward songs or any kind of music produced by brandon yates was his similarity to mgr or dmc styled tracks. Or his ability to incorporate a variety of stylized music from different ganres into his own style of beats. So it is of one style that I prefer from brandon yates, such as exo, blood stained strides etc. This is what I prefer. However I might add that since this is what stood out to me that he might specialize in creating mgr sounding themes with vocals for mgs chars as well. Again (I dont know what to credit you for if you worked on the music) brandon yates is skilled at taking one ganre of music and incorporating it to his style, so the taking of one character from mgs would work in terms of the stylistic switch to a vocal version or an mgr version. While you may have noted that the song was intended other than the purpose of single character themes and more so to represent large scale conflict, I would argue that a theme based for a vs would work well with something that this type of music specializes in. Which is character focused music with vocals.

I can imagine if zeke and Marley somehow win the fight the ending could be zeke giving liquid a bottle of wine after beating him and shadow Moses island kinda as a peace offering with liquid being the last man standing takeing a sip of the wine (about the wine iykyk) only for zeke to shout from a marlien airship and liquid turn into a pure titan.
Funny idea, but wouldn't work I'm afraid. Only those with Eldian DNA can be turned into titans. Any non-Eldian or Ackerman that drinks wine laced with spinal fluid will be completely unaffected. Yelena actually mocked Pixis about this by casually drinking the wine in front of him after Zeke's plan was revealed.

Zeke’s Father Ghrisha Yeager, killed the Reiss Family (Krista/Historia’s family) instructed by Eren. this included the one of the founding Titan holders. Taking it for himself and passing it on to Eren when he was kid.
As for the metal gear part:
Naked Snake's (the world's greatest soldier and protégé of The Boss, who became a martyr by his hand in Operation Snake Eater earning him the title of Big Boss) DNA was used in the Les Enfantes Terribles project in order to create the perfect solider. Eight clones were created and six were aborted in order to encourage strong growth between the remaining two, who ended up becoming Solid and Liquid Snake. The other brother only existed to remove all the genes deemed "undesirable" so they could shape the other into the perfect solider. Liquid Snake was deceived into believing that he was the inferior brother for his whole life due to his possession of recessive genes, while in reality the opposite was true.
Also, it's the title of one of the songs in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
