If you saw my previous comment for 'Sins of the Father' you might remember that I mentioned that while I think Zeke Yeager has amazing potential as a commander opponent for Liquid, Albert Wesker is his No. 1 1v1 opponent in my eyes. So naturally I had to commission a track for that matchup too. This one will eventually have vocals down the line. Liquid Snake vs Albert Wesker (Metal Gear vs Resident Evil): Connections by shiorieternal. Not sure if they were the matchup creator or not. Born with superior genetics, these two classic series spanning terrorist antagonists were products of shady human experimentation to create an Übermensch and would take up a similar fondness of trench coats, sunglasses, and going shirtless. Deceitful by nature, they would both end up working in the US military for a time with the ulterior motive to become the squad leaders of notable special task forces (FOXHOUND and STARS) and manipulate them from within to further their own goals. Said goals would ultimately be to utilize their universes respective war changing doomsday weapons (Metal Gears and BOW's/Viruses) to effectively bring the world to its knees and create a new, and, in their minds, better one, where strength would be valued above all else amidst the ensuing chaos and bloodshed. (Liquid wanted to surpass Big Boss by rectifying his failure to create a world where soldiers like him would be valued above all else, seeking to essentially create a constant state of war. Meanwhile, Wesker would follow in the eugenics loving footsteps of Oswell E. Spencer and seek to purify the world's gene pool via spreading the Uroboros virus worldwide to serve as an extreme form of natural selection, and, eventually, after mass amounts of death, leave only the strong and genetically superior humans alive in the ashes). Their aforementioned superior genetics (Liquid having the dominant genes of Big Boss and Wesker having superior genes that were compatible with the prototype virus) have granted them access to superhuman attributes including greatly enhanced strength, speed, and durability, as well a genius level intellect which they put to good use with all of their scheming. However, genius as they may be, they are both extremely arrogant to a fault, condescending, callous, petty, and uncompromising men with a constant need to prove themselves superior to everyone around them. They both have an extreme level hate of hatred for their series first protagonist (Solid Snake and Chris Redfield). In their first appearance they both manipulated said protagonist while actually working for the other side in an iconic plot twist (Liquid famously disguising himself as Master Miller to manipulate Solid Snake, Miller, by the way, looks exactly like Wesker, and Wesker revealing himself to have been an undercover agent Umbrella to manipulate STARS).
Don't forget they both love yelling their enemy's name very loudly and dramatically. "SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!" "CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!" Love this matchup.
Liquid: "My genetics are superior to your crude virus. I was perfect from the start, you're merely a crude imitation of my perfection!" Wesker: "Seven minutes, seven minutes is all the time I can spare on this farce.."
It took me a second to get the title name, but it is so perfect when you know both characters. Jormungandr. The Norse Mythology world serpent. Snake. Complete global saturation. And that's before you get into all the bio-engeneering that made these two into what they are.
I figured it was a play on Wesker's side of the spectrum since his virus is known as Ouroboros. Of course, most people recognize what that means. A snake devouring it's own tail. In Norse mythology, it is said that if Jormungandr bites his own tail, the world will end. As for Liquid Snake, I have no clue. I'm not very far down the Metal Gear Solid rabbit hole.

Quite possibly the best for both, especially if Liquid is allowed to have the REX against Uroboros Wesker. Resident Evil and Metal Gear work incredibly well together. And you just KNOW they'd be screaming each other's names by the end of it. "LIQUIIIIIIIID!" "WESKERRRR!"
To be honest, I personally always liked to imagine this fight as just base Wesker with his two handguns (and maybe the Hydra from RE5) against Liquid with a FAMAS, a machete/combat knife, and maybe some of the other weapons from Shadow Moses (the SOCOM, Nikita Launcher, etc.). But I suppose REX vs transformed Wesker and a horde of BOW mutations could be epic too.
Liquid snake is back to face his next “hazardous” foe. Typing this as I’m listening and it sounds good. Don’t know how a fight between them would work or the connections though.

They're also manipulate schemers who act as allies to the protagonists only to betray them later on. They are driven by obsession with being the peak of what humanity can be and will eliminate all who stand in their way.

Resident Evil and Metal Gear is a combo that surprises me hasn't happened more often due to how well both franchises seem to mesh. That aside, I didn't expect much from the song but damn does it sound cool. The mix of intense and heavy rock/metal with tones of much more subtle, calm and almost tragic piano is greatly done. It's not at all a duality or contrast like most other songs have but instead is a great mesh of both with a fluid and natural overlap of both that sounds great. Which, from the little I know of the characters does seem to make sense given they're (again, from what I know which is barely anything) characters that originally present themselves as good guys but end up being bad guys and of course, at least in Wesker's case, also have a habit of showing themselves to be calm and collected while beating the crap out of people. So having this overlap of brutal evil and calm calculation feels perfectly fitting for the matchup in addition to sounding unique and generally appreciable. I don't have much to say on particular segments due to my ignorance of the characters but I still must put an emphasis on how good I think this dynamic is done in the song. Overall this track is one I didn't expect anything from but ended up very pleasantly surprised with due to how qualitative it is. And of course not only is it really nice to listen to but it also massively stands out due to how unique it sounds and perfectly fits (at least to the extent that I know them) the characters. Amazing work with this as always.
Yeah I’m pretty sure Snake’s only win con is a direct hit with Metal Gear level weaponry. Such as REX’s Railgun or RAY’s Hydrocannon. However without a Metal Gear I’m afraid Wesker blitzes. And if Wesker’s mutations are a factor then the Metal Gears can’t even save Liquid Snake
Must mention: Good thing more people notice Liquid Snake vs Albert Wesker is a superior choice over Kazuya Mishima vs Albert Wesker and frees Kazuya Mishima for Iori Yagami.

I didn't expect to realize that Wesker and Liquid both have snake themes. Liquid Snake (obviously) and Wesker being Infected with "Ouroboros" (the snake that eats it's tail. Which is similar to the Norse myth of Jormungandr, the snake who wraps around the world and when he bites his tail will start Ragnarok.

Yes, but not because of the Liquid Ocelot stuff. But rather Liquid’s scaling to Solid Snake, who’s above Venom Snake, who in turn is relative to Ocelot in his prime
I don't think it should. Liquid Ocelot was only able to match a Solid Snake that had been hammered by clone degradation and nanomachine seizures. The original Liquid meanwhile matched a healthy Snake in his physical prime. And both the ending reveal and Liquid's absurd survivability strongly imply that he's actually the hardier of the twins (and potentially the strongest of all the Snakes). His boss fight sees him take significantly more damage to defeat than the player, and his hits knock off far more health than Snake's do. Admittedly that could just have been a case of gameplay and story segregation. But knowing Kojima, he's just the kind of director to include bits of foreshadowing like that in the gameplay.
Yea I have the feeling wesker takes this since you know… HE SURVIVED BEING SHOT WITH 2 RPGS AND BEING SUNK INTO A VOLCANO. meanwhile all liquid has is a metal gear and guns. And wesker can catch rockets and throw them back at people and dodge bullets.
@@jojogacha974 Umbrella Corps being canon (the time you hear his voice takes place in 2012) would make it work but as it stands no confirmation and he's been out of for all mainline games and only has one voice file with zero confirmation in a game that let's be real no one played (not like capcom wears that game proudly either). It's been almost 10 years since umbrella corp was released and still nothing ever hinting of his comeback apart from that as it stands for now dude is dead or they dropped that idea. In a nutshell as much as me and everyone wants him to come back that ain't enough to prove that he his trully alive for now as it stands imo

They originally said that the game had a canon backstory that tied into the main series. But in the half year since then, they've backtracked and claimed that while they originally intended a deep backstory for the game, they scrapped it in favor of nostalgic maps.

Legit a perfect matchup character wise that I want to see a DB of. Though if I were to throw my hat in the ring, I'd say that Liquid's got this, even the non super human (by the MG verse standards) have casual bullet time feats and arguable lightning timer ones which puts him comparable or above Wesker in speed. In terms of strength Liqui has a big advantage being comparable to Big Boss who can lift up the Cacoon which fell with the force of 323551 tons. Wesker could possibly infect him with any of the virus' he has on hand which could grant him the win but if we include equipment then Liquid should have Metal Gear Rex in his arsenal.

Interesting. My preferred matchup for Wesker was Muzan from Demon Slayer, but Liquid works too (and I'm glad he's getting another matchup). Took me a second to realize amidst the uroboros tentacles was Liquid's arm giving his iconic pose-that's a nice touch. I'd also say that it's the pose Liquid would make after winning. He can match Wesker blow for blow, but Rex is simply beyond anything Wesker can put up, even with uroboros. He could infect him to notch a win, but I'd say that'd be a slim possibility, especially since Liquid might just be able to power through an infection long enough to win.

To be honest, I personally always liked to imagine this fight as just base Wesker with his two handguns (and maybe the Hydra from RE5) against Liquid with a FAMAS, a machete/combat knife, and maybe some of the other weapons from Shadow Moses (the SOCOM, Nikita Launcher, etc.). But I suppose REX vs transformed Wesker and a horde of BOW mutations could be epic too.
I'm imagining Liquid is also allowed to use Sehalanthropus and the Metallic Archea.

Liquid snake is back to face his next “hazardous” foe. Typing this as I’m listening and it sounds good. Don’t know how a fight between them would work or the connections though.
Both are bio-weapons that had their genes altered to become superhumans that no normal man would ever be able to take head-on. They're also manipulate schemers who act as allies to the protagonists only to betray them later on. They are driven by obsession with being the peak of what humanity can be and will eliminate all who stand in their way.
Man I would love to see this fight. Starting as a gun fight in trench coats, going to a topless fist fight, then Liquid jumping into a Metal Gear and Wesker taking a dose of Uroboros for a final big showdown. Absolutely awesome job on the track as usual Brandon!

Resident Evil and Metal Gear is a combo that surprises me hasn't happened more often due to how well both franchises seem to mesh.
That aside, I didn't expect much from the song but damn does it sound cool. The mix of intense and heavy rock/metal with tones of much more subtle, calm and almost tragic piano is greatly done. It's not at all a duality or contrast like most other songs have but instead is a great mesh of both with a fluid and natural overlap of both that sounds great.
Which, from the little I know of the characters does seem to make sense given they're (again, from what I know which is barely anything) characters that originally present themselves as good guys but end up being bad guys and of course, at least in Wesker's case, also have a habit of showing themselves to be calm and collected while beating the crap out of people.
So having this overlap of brutal evil and calm calculation feels perfectly fitting for the matchup in addition to sounding unique and generally appreciable. I don't have much to say on particular segments due to my ignorance of the characters but I still must put an emphasis on how good I think this dynamic is done in the song.
Overall this track is one I didn't expect anything from but ended up very pleasantly surprised with due to how qualitative it is. And of course not only is it really nice to listen to but it also massively stands out due to how unique it sounds and perfectly fits (at least to the extent that I know them) the characters. Amazing work with this as always.

Yeah I’m pretty sure Snake’s only win con is a direct hit with Metal Gear level weaponry. Such as REX’s Railgun or RAY’s Hydrocannon. However without a Metal Gear I’m afraid Wesker blitzes. And if Wesker’s mutations are a factor then the Metal Gears can’t even save Liquid Snake

Liquid Snake (obviously) and Wesker being Infected with "Ouroboros" (the snake that eats it's tail. Which is similar to the Norse myth of Jormungandr, the snake who wraps around the world and when he bites his tail will start Ragnarok.

I don't think it should. Liquid Ocelot was only able to match a Solid Snake that had been hammered by clone degradation and nanomachine seizures. The original Liquid meanwhile matched a healthy Snake in his physical prime. And both the ending reveal and Liquid's absurd survivability strongly imply that he's actually the hardier of the twins (and potentially the strongest of all the Snakes). His boss fight sees him take significantly more damage to defeat than the player, and his hits knock off far more health than Snake's do. Admittedly that could just have been a case of gameplay and story segregation. But knowing Kojima, he's just the kind of director to include bits of foreshadowing like that in the gameplay.

Legit a perfect matchup character wise that I want to see a DB of. Though if I were to throw my hat in the ring, I'd say that Liquid's got this, even the non super human (by the MG verse standards) have casual bullet time feats and arguable lightning timer ones which puts him comparable or above Wesker in speed. In terms of strength Liqui has a big advantage being comparable to Big Boss who can lift up the Cacoon which fell with the force of 323551 tons. Wesker could possibly infect him with any of the virus' he has on hand which could grant him the win but if we include equipment then Liquid should have Metal Gear Rex in his arsenal.

If you meant for the title, a reference to Liquid’s code name and Wesker’s virus, since Jormungandr was considered the most poisonous serpent in Norse myth.
Jormungandr is a giant snake in Norse mythology, alternatively called the "Migandr or World Separate" because it literally coils around the whole of Migandr, aka Earth. During Ragnarök, Jormungandr will uncurl itself and battle against Thor, being slain by him but its venom ultimately killing Thor.
For the characters, Liquid's full name (Liquid SNAKE) is rather obvious, and Wesker planned to use a virus called uroboros, which is named after a snake eating its own tail representing infinity. Both of them are monsters, especially since like Jormungandr, both Liquid and Wesker were destined to cause mass destruction and death from the moment they were born/created. Both of them aim to destroy the world in their respective games, much like Jormungandr's rise symbolizes the end of the world. Finally, and perhaps most interestingly, just like Jormungandr's fangs were poisonous and killed Thor, both Liquid and Wesker were ultimately done in by biological agents, in Liquid's case, the same virus he was infected with would go on to infect Snake.

They both have an extreme level hate of hatred for their series first protagonist (Solid Snake and Chris Redfield.)
In their first appearance they both manipulated said protagonist while actually working for the other side in an iconic plot twist (Liquid famously disguising himself as Master Miller to manipulate Solid Snake, Miller, by the way, looks exactly like Wesker, and Wesker revealing himself to have been an undercover agent Umbrella to manipulate STARS.)

Interesting. My preferred matchup for Wesker was Muzan from Demon Slayer, but Liquid works too (and I'm glad he's getting another matchup). Took me a second to realize amidst the uroboros tentacles was Liquid's arm giving his iconic pose-that's a nice touch.
I'd also say that it's the pose Liquid would make after winning. He can match Wesker blow for blow, but Rex is simply beyond anything Wesker can put up, even with uroboros. He could infect him to notch a win, but I'd say that'd be a slim possibility, especially since Liquid might just be able to power through an infection long enough to win.
I feel like they wouldn't give Liquid his Metal Gear, just so that can even the playing field
