  • Officers from Durham Roads and Armed Policing Unit pulled this driver over on the A1(M) in November after intelligence suggested he may have been driving a cloned and stolen vehicle.
But the driver Brahim Bucpapaj, of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, had no intention of sticking around.
He was swiftly detained in a nearby field, and officers found five large bags of vacuum-packed cannabis in the car.
He was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply.
Appearing at Teesside Crown Court in December, he was handed an 18 month prison sentence.

18 months for all that weed. What's the point in spending the money investigating, arresting, prosecuting, and then jailing for such a poxy sentence? Imagine how much time, space, and money would be freed up by legalising and regulating

Then they will move on to dealing Class A, that will never be legalised. Deport him when he has completed his sentence. If he wants to live in this Country he needs to abide by the Law just like the majority of us do.

@@CDB8939OR maybe we should stop wasting police time on such a benign “drug”
It’s already proven in Canada, the us, Spain, the Netherlands, Thailand that legalisation works and generates HUGE revenue for governments too. It really is a win win for everyone.

18 months, I guess he will only do half that, I feel for police officers they put themselves on line to make life better for us law abiding people and the courts let them down. Well done boys in blue

Just legalise this shit, tax it, and we can stop wasting so much fucking money fighting a never ending "war"
I have never done drugs in my life and even I am not blindsighted enough to see this issue.
But I agree with the sentiment. Officers are about as selfless as a job can get when you realise what they're paid... That and teachers (good ones atleast)

@@Birch19547it was a bit more than “just some weed” though. He was carrying enough to supply a city! As well as that he fled across a motorway putting officers and the public at risk. While you may not think that it is much of an issue, even Cannabis supply very often links back to serious and organised crime, and regardless of your views on personal use and how the law should change, these suppliers are undoubtedly criminals and should be dealt with accordingly.

Well what a massive incentive for people to deal drugs. If you have an absolute car full of them you'll only get 18 months, out in 9 months with good behaviour. You could get someone pregnant, miss all the vomit part and the uncomfortable part, and get out just in time for the cute part. What an absolute joke.

@@watcherwriter1689 In that amount it's a main dealer. I don't disagree about it should be legal, I said that in another comment on here, but as it is, dealing those kind of quantities should be way way more than 18 months. You take your chances, you get the consequences.
Can't just go round deciding which laws to abide by. Want a law changing, speak to MPs and form a lobbying group, make the case for it and make it happen.

@@bravo2966 well I do quite regularly and I also have a prescription for mine, however 18 months seems reasonable if anything a little harsh for something that isn't going to kill anyone. I can go to a shop and buy enough alcohol to kill myself right now, drink it all and die and the shop would get in no trouble. If the law is bollocks then I think it is perfectly excusable, justified, and warranted to break it. What about laws under the Nazi's against harbouring Jewish people? Should people have obeyed them too?

I do think as a society a lot of people are extremely ignorant or unaware of what Police actually do, thinking it’s just proactively patrolling. They are the core and lead public service which as a job role fulfil roles in all areas of Public and emergency services such as Social care (missing people, vulnerable people, children in care, troubled families, homelessness and drugs use and addiction), medical sector (attending ongoing cpr incidents, often arriving before ambulances, mental health crisis, drug overdoses and all suicides as well as Dementia), fire and rescue (first on scene to almost all severe car accidents, house/vehicle fires, persons trapped and in water as well as many others). Then they also deal with crime and attend the horrific incidents involved with that, murders, rapes, child abuse. Then also get bogged down and become a government punching bag with newly legislated crimes impossible to police as well as protests and then have to manage and secure public opinion and perception due to the pure level of scrutiny the job comes under by very nature of the role, oh and also investigate complex crime in the meantime and in between going to incidents and responsible for delivering death warnings to families.
It’s courts that are the problem….. 18 months!! Stolen car and drug dealing
