    For anyone contemplating this seat mover. I’ve used it for almost a year and I can’t race without it. Once you get the settings right it works very well and consistently. Racing without it feels dull to me. I’m more about immersion than competitiveness, however I do feel the seat mover made me more aware of what the car is doing so a win-win in my book.

      I've been deliberating getting a seat mover for so long now and have funds for a cheap one., seen so many Utubers and still cant decide.I'm Running a T300 wheel that I'm happy with so far. so it's either 2dof or dd wheel?. I'm not out to be the best, just to have the best time. Also I'm in VR. so question is, does the movement work well (dialed down some) and is it immersive. I would appreciate your opinion, . Cheers dude

    One of the things I love about your videos is they are so much like having a conversation with a friend about new gear. We can't all afford all the gear and sometimes you need to sacrifice one thing for another. It just makes me smile how human you are and normal. I bet most of your subs would agree you seem like the kind of guy we could go have a beer with and sit and chat about this stuff all day.

    Makes good sense. I’ve recently purchased the next level racer seat mover and have it turned down as to not interfere with my driving and have set it up with belt on bungee cord for belt tensioning. The feedback is really useful but can imagine on full power is too distracting. One thing I did that has worked well is 4 Dayton audio pucks in the racing seat cushions, 2 under my backside and 2 under my thighs, set up for each corner and use it for traction loss etc. Under £100 and much more effective.

    From my 3 years experience with motion platforms I have to agree with you, it is hard work, trying to be pin point is much more difficult when having to compensate against the motion... Great move to go for the DD1 in it's place Karl mate, I like your approach. Also, motion rigs require plenty of tweaks and adjustments, weeks if not months of constant honing, it's not as easy as you'd think it'd be.

    Karl! I can’t believe you’re getting rid of the seat mover. I’m just thinking, you could probably build the SFX-100 full motion system for around the same price as the seat mover and strap it onto your aluminum rig. It may not help you be faster than your mates, but it’s a little closer to the real thing. Cheers!

    I had a next level v3, was a fun motion device but I got through 3 of them due to quality issues. Just too unreliable in my opinion and dealing with next level in Australia was a bit of a pain. Under warranty they made me send a 2 grand piece of kit that had failed (not through my own fault) back to Wales (for them then to send onto poland) AT MY OWN COST. To properly insure it I had to pay £100 or take a gamble.
    For the third replacement, rather than send it back to Wales/Poland they made me remove the control pcb and video proof that i destroyed it, then i had to bin the rest of the motion device before they would send a new one, that was a bit weird. In the end when the new one arrived i decided enough was enough and with 3 months left on the warranty i cut my losses and immediately sold it.
    Would never buy Next Level again. I would only consider maybe a Simrig SR1 now as price is "affordable" but tbh i dont miss motion, you soon relearn to live without it, a bit like buttkickers.
    Dont waste your money, spend it on a decent Direct Drive (Simucube or a fanatec DD1) and a decent comfy seat (Sparco)

  • @Leynad778
    @Leynad778 3 роки тому +5

    My advise: Go for a tactile feedback system with Buttkickers. They give you good cues without sacrificing performance. I've tried about a dozen motion-system at the Expo and sorry to tell you: The full motion-rigs are worse. I've tried your motion-system, the NLR v3 twice, SimXperience Stage 3, Vesaro and another D-Box-system and some others. The more impressive the motion looks and the price, the more I was disappointed after and every system feels like it's not good for performance. When the SimXperience GS-5 was announced, I went for that and got a G-Belt last year. I'm happy with it since and I'm still fast because it does everything (6 DOF), but not in a harsh way and rather similar with a lower powered road-car. It is actually more haptic feedback like getting a massage from telemetry. But I don't like it for DR2. Tactile Feedback is better there as well and for FFB: The Accuforce is the best for DR2. Point. I got a SimuCube 2 Pro and it's mostly better in other titles, but DR2 doesn't feel as great as before, not even close. I've my Accuforce still here and probably need to go under 600 Euros to sell it.
    PS: Just tuned the GS-5 a bit for DR2 and feels better now. Less is more even with DR2.

  • @meejmuas8686
    @meejmuas8686 Рік тому

    If the DOF moves the seat but the wheel does not with it, it would still be more fun wohout DOF, but Id feel DOF can improve immersion by having the wheelbase attached to the rig's motions. Would be a legendary upgrade with probably not much effort to do so in the next gen or as a upgradeable mod

    Being REALLY in competition with others always means measuring my abilities, physical and mental, decisions and their execution, with other players.
    This means we have to use the same rules on the same pitch.
    And that is never the case in e-racing, not even in iracing competition.
    Each player extends his abilities through hard and software, the PC, the Lan connection, the controllers, the configurations.
    Cybernetic enhancements...
    Tennis players use with different rackets, but the ball/court, the environment is identical.
    In racing the road, the environment is not the same for someone who's got a 60hz monitor or 120hz.
    A 34" or 55" monitor, frequency in haptic and movements effects are also influencing the performance.
    E-racing in competition is ultimately frustrating when you lose with a Fanatec wheel against someone using a keyboard.
    Immersion is the real competition.
    Who has succeeded building op the best immersion that still allows for best racing times, which means consistent lap times, not a single lap time.
    It's not about how much or how little effects, it's about the coherence and coordination of effects to improve performance, just as in a real car.
    And the M2 is technically a poor piece of hardware, when considering coherence and coordination.

    Get the direct drive simexperience wheel from the US. It would be interesting as a review as its price is actually the most reasonable. I got the Fanatec Clubsport wheel,pedal and stick package and feel its a little overpriced for what it is, although it has made me faster than on the G29. Fanatec CS pedals ask for upgrades that should be included already.

Unless you only plan on using a formula rim, (which it doesn't sound like you are) the larger diameter rim size you put on, the more torque you'll need. The fastest Sim racers usually use the cheapest equipment with single screen. So what you say is true the equipment that makes it more immersive usually doesn't make you any faster. Your brain gets used to using the visual queues from the game rather than the extra cues from force feed back which is usually a slower thing to react to. the brain will react faster to visual input from the monitor and tyre sounds from speakers than it will from lag delayed motion sim pits and force feedback steering wheels. That said they do make it much more immersive and fun by a lot more than most would think in the same way people that haven't tried VR don't realise just how good it is until they try it.
