      Glad to hear that mate......the H3 really does bring the final part of the overall MSFS2020 and car racing experience as I now get the full immersion that I was looking for after going VR a year ago...that was a big step up and the H3 has delivered even more than what the move into VR provided

    I appreciate the review! Seems like the H3 in particular lacks few good proper reviews of the product, and with the ones out already, this one is pretty good! You've made me aware of details that i wasn't before. One thing I want to ask about how the yaw feels? Does it give you another sense of how the vehicle is flying, or how your tail swings out on some turns? or is it hardly noticeable?

    • @GunPilot
      @GunPilot  9 місяців тому +9

      Yaw is really good in the H3....while the actual moving of the seat is only 6-8 inches left and/or right, when racing cars you really feel when your losing the back end in a fast corner...and in MSFS2020, when your sideslipping on final approach to land the initial yaw movement tricks your brain, with the visual input of flying in sideways, to telling you that you are flying sideways, and when you let go the rudder back to centre to touch down the yaw swing back again tells you that you were flying sideways.....being a retired Commercial pilot I can attest that the H3 and MSFS2020 is an amazing fit and really does mimic real flying sensations......join me at discord.com/invite/EyQPXGMV for sme really good flying events, no boring stuff, mainly bush flying

    awesome review mate .. for MSFS would you say that Yaw is required or will the H2 be enough?

    • @GunPilot
      @GunPilot  Місяць тому +1

      G'day mate...thanks for the feedback, I just tell it as I see it......re your question, if you, like me, are going to use it mainly for MSFS then yaw is, in my opinion, a good to have axis in that without it you will not experience your aircraft yawing when doing a side slip on approach, or a crosswind cross controlled approach when trying to land with a crosswind component. That being said, yaw is of paramount importance if car racing as it gives you the full sensation of traction loss on rear end.

    I have the gt omega prime cockpit at the moment. Will the seat from that moint onto it? Also i use the fanatec gt dd pro. Will it mount to it ok? The motion rig looks really thin. Is it strong enough for a direct deive setup?

    • @GunPilot
      @GunPilot  3 місяці тому +2

      Gday mate.....the H3 has a very sturdy steel frame and it will take any peripherals you may wish to mount on it, even very heavy racing pedals etc....on utube you will even see racing setups with large screen displayss attached. I have the Logitech pedals that have a really strong brake spring that requires me to exert a lot of foot force when braking hard and in nearly a year of use now the frame is still rock solid.....re your seat, cannot say if mounting holes will align perfectly but its no big deal to either drill holes to suit or affix a bracket to accomodate.....I just bought a second hand seat off facebook and it aligned perfectly.......let me know if you pull the trigger and I'll be happy to assist anyway I can with setup, operation, tuning etc......its a great motsim and you will be very happy with it...cheers mate

    Just got a normal rig to use for racing and flying. Quick question. I have the garmin 3 racing pedals like you and also thrustmaster t1500 rudder pedals. You don't seem to use flight pedals, just racing pedals whislt flying. Do you use the clutch and accelerator for rudder and the brake to apply the aircrafts brakes? If so not having separator brakes it would be a challenge flying a spitfire etc? Amazing video and setup BTW. 😊

    Great video, thank you! It has helped me understand this investment much better. Could you comment more sometime on H3 vs. P6 models if I'm planning to allow flight students to use it for "training" or "awareness" flights also (not licensed hours, but for experience) and also any advantage to H6/P6 vs. H3/P3? There don't seem to be a lot of advantages from what I can tell in flight sim (my preference) or racing sim setups?

    • @GunPilot
      @GunPilot  2 місяці тому +1

      Gday there Tim.......glad my review helped you in some small way....there is also now a 6 month review, and a short fun 4 min aerobatic formation clip i put together recently...in 2 mths time i will be doing a 1 year review, boy the time with the sim has just flown (pun intended😂) by....regarding h3 versus h6 for giving flight students the sensation of flight without actually sliding into the LHS seat, my thoughts are that the motsim would be invaluable in 1. being used to attract potential students to getting on board to learn to fly as it costs nothing for them to try in motsim versus having to shell out actual cash for a trial introductory flight 2. the motsim will deliver students a level of realism and immersion that can help in their handling of an aircraft, eg, if they do a hard landing the motsim will definitely give them a kick in the pants 3. students could hop into motsim and actually "fly" a navigation flight exercise b4 they actally go out and do the nav flight, increasing their confidence and assisting them to stay on track by spotting those landmarks along the way that will tell them if they are on track or not 4. being able to do a cross contrls approach in a stiff crosswind, or manage an engine out in a twin would be invaluable experience in a motsim...I certainly wish the msfs2020 sim, VR and the motsim was around when I started out on the journey to get my PPL then Commercial licence over 30 yers ago. Regarding h3 versus h6, going h6 gives you the extra heave, surge and sway motions. To me, if you can afford the extra outlay, go for the h6, but the h3 still definitely provides the stimuli for the brain to fill in the gaps for you to feel acceleration, deceleration and even some heave sensation.Sway, not so much in the h3 but then again you don't really experiece sway much at all in real inflight ops. Yaw id definitely their and in my opinion, having pith, roll nd sway do give you the full realism you would want. Regarding your question regarding Hero (H) versus Pro (P) models, the P model has a slightly more powerful motor set installed which will handle more sustained and lengthy sessions of use supposedly than the H models. This was a consideration I had to weigh up as I run msfs fying events every week and on average I am flying in the sim around 40 to 50 hrs each week, both planning new events, leading 3 hour flights, and just flying around having fun. I did not buy it for any other purpose other than flying but since getting it, I have also now got into car racing, but realitically I prob only do a couple of hours racing every other week. Anyway getting back to H or P, I was advised to g P due to the amount of use it would be put to. However, I took a pnt on the H and after nearly a year of very heavy usage just about every day, it is still performing as well as the very first time I jumped into it. In the first 3 mths I would reguarly feel the motor casing to see if the motors were heating up after long flying sessions eg 4-5 hours straight, and not once did they feel anything but cool to the touch. This is a good indication they are not being stressed or working to hard to keep up with long sessions, and I no longer even think about checking the motor temps.. But, having said all that, if money was no object, I would probably have purchsed a H6, but cost was a factor, s it is for most people so I went the H3, knowing that it is upradable to a H6 if I wanted to go that route down the track.....so far I am extremely happy with my H3 and have no plans to upgrade. Sorry if this reply is a bit long but I do love my H3 and just love talking about it to those who ask. Let me know what you finally decide, I would be honestly interested to know which model you go with and your decision process....cheers mate

      @@GunPilot According to FEDEX tracking, the P3 should arrive about a week from now. I went with the P3 in case it gets heavier usage with others involved as well as I like a warmer room, so I hope it's a good investment. I'm looking forward to it arriving, but I'll only have two weeks and then heading overseas on a mission trip for 7 weeks. So, I'll be looking forward to moving forward upon return. Regarding the platform, did you use 2x4s and 3/4" plywood or something else? I'm not sure how strong the structure needs to be for it. Thanks again for the valuable insight. One more question.
    Based on the time you had this already, do you feel it’s exactly the same or it eventually got not as good because of the use?
    The reason I ask this is because someone is selling one set for 2/3 of the price and seems in perfect condition, but wondering if could be a good deal …

      @@GunPilot hi … I really appreciate the answer and the time you took to detail it…
      One of the things I had in mind was that, we don’t know how nice the previous owner could be with the set, so far looks in great shape in pictures but we never know…
      Other thing I noticed is the frame for the wheel base, seems like the company modified to be stiffer and looks on a different way, ticker and more square instead on the “triangle shape” on the bottom..
      Not to mention the way the motors are installed under the seat (seems to be on a different way).
      I think (due to the budget limits) I’ll get the H2 new and down the road upgrade the parts to make it a H3 style.
      I’ll use it 95% for racing so I think I’ll “survive” with the H2 for a little while.

      @@jesusrdz4091 If your going to mostly use it for racing then the h2 will be a bit dissappointing.......I say that because when racing, the two main axis in play are PITCH (braking and accelleration and gear shifting) and YAW (traction loss on the rear of car)......h3 caters for these but the h2 will not give you Yaw so racing will be quite tame in h2......just something to consider

    What did you use for the base

    • @GunPilot
      @GunPilot  2 місяці тому

      Gday mate....for the base I just went to the hardware store and purchased some sturdy wood panels around 1ft wide and just formed a rectangle frame that h3 sits on....I also bought 4 lockable castor wheels that I fixed to the underside so that its dead easy to move around if needed. Works a treat and all the cables run under the platform. Do you have a motion sim or are you thinking of getting one?

    • @williamwhite19

      Getting h3 next month

      @GunPilot  2 місяці тому

      @@williamwhite19 Thats terrific...it will give you a greatly enhance and immersive experience, no matter if your getting it to fly or race, or indeed both. I mainly fly but from time to time I do some racing and b4 getting the H3 I never ever raced. By all means hit me up if I can assist with what you need to buy in prep for the H3, setup or tuning, only to happy to assist.....on top of saving you some "hard earned" on the purchase price

    As a fellow Aussie do you have tips on how to keep costs down? Aus dollar is 0.58US! Doing the maths on shipping, dollar conversion and taxes, you approximately double the price listed on DOF website!

      Use my promo code WIZARD when ordering and that will reduce price by 5%.....when you have ordered let me know by DMing me on my Discord Server and I can give you some further shipping tips to save further

      Yeah the shipping here to Australia is almost USD 1000 by FedEX. There has to be alternative couriers.

      To save shipping on large items from US Mainland to Guam, I use a freight forwarder who puts the item into a container for ocean shipment. Not fast but very reliable and affordable. Most Forwarders now have an ECommerce page. Have the shipper deliver to their dock. WARNING - Amazon will void return window for faults or shortage in this case.

    are you going to try the planetary gear motor mod to fix the jitter or wait for DOF Reality to come up with a solution?

    • @GunPilot
      @GunPilot  9 місяців тому

      The planetary motor is way too noisy.......will be waiting on DOF R to officially bring out any fix b4 I do anything....jitter does not stop me enjoying my H3.... join me at discord.com/invite/EyQPXGMV for some really good flying events, no boring stuff, mainly bush flying

      😂😂😂 its hardly ever used as I'm a dedicated MSFS2020 pilot and fly rather than race 99% of the time..........but, as I'm sure you realise and are just joking, the wheel has no bearing on the great performance of the H3......but thanks for your comment mate, all "grist for the mill" as the old saying goes.......cheers

    50 hours a week is way too much time to spend in any computer game. You'll eventually burn out and rage quit the whole thing. Better to use it as an occasional stress relief. There is real life out there needs living.
