After establishing which cylinder is at fault (in this case, cylinder 1) we can do a simple check to see if the spark plug is at fault.
swap the suspected faulty plug (cylinder 1) with a known good cylinder (cylinder 4)
then run the car and re scan for codes.
if the spark plug is defective then the code will change from cylinder 1 to 4, following the defective part.
This confirms the plug as the fault and requires a new set of spark plugs to rectify.
if you carry out this test and the fault remains on the same cylinder then further investigation is needed.
