My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We saw over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. Hopefully, my experience I share, will save you Time, Money and Frustration in the future!

I just bought a Simoniz gas pressure washer for $30 from a guy who said the motor ran fine but the pump didn't work - water shoot out the nozzle. In the video, you mentioned checking that the hose wasn't plugged. I went right out, removed the hose, started the pressure washer and sure enough, the pump spurted water just fine. There was a slimy gel blocking one hose connection that I cleaned out with a small screwdriver. (I think the gunk might be congealed soap since the soap dispenser was plugged in.)
It's odd that soap could stop that much pressure, but there you go! Thanks for the tip!

These are the words of Christ addressed to the man he healed,
John 5: 14: "Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee."
What an unexpected prevention - “sin no more”!
Doctors do not pay attention to the role of the Nervous system, which controls all processes and organs in our body.
This happened because the deceitful and corrupt clergy of world religions have been disseminating false teachings about the “immortality of the soul” for thousands of years: doctors and scientists who tried to claim that there is an organ in the human body that thinks, feels and controls it, were subjected to severe persecution, even to the point of destruction as heretics, because “the soul is immortal and incorporeal.”
This is the word of God,
Ezekiel 18: 4: “For behold, all souls are mine: both the soul of the father, and the soul of the son, is mine: the soul that sinneth shall die.”
Romans 6: 23: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Priests brazenly lie all over the world, but those who try to expose their lies are persecuted.
The problem is that this world is ruled by the Devil, a liar and a murderer. Therefore, there is good news about God's kingdom:
Our Creator, Jehovah God, has appointed a king, Jesus Christ, who will restore order. Even the dead will be resurrected and we will see our beloved ones again. :-)
Isaiah 33: 24: "And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity."
Malachi 4: 2: “But for you who fear My name, the Sun of righteousness will rise and healing in His rays, and you will go out and leap like fat calves;”
Psalm 83: 18: "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."

Love the channel Bre. Prayers for Ron.
When pressure washers run without water flow, first, it overheats because water is designed to cool it but the big problem is is cavitation. When it gets boiling hot, it converts the stagnant water to steam. When water converts to steam, it expands 1,600 times. This is what blows seals. Any firefighter knows about cavitation.
Glad to see you flowing water before you start. Most owners dry start then lay the wand down for extended periods killing the machine.
These machines can be extremely dangerous. If water or mixed chemicals get injected under the skin, the tissue will need to be debrided(cut away). It basically becomes gangrenous. My friend forgot to relieve the pressure before disconnecting the hose and it injected water into his eye. Wills Eye Institute could not save it. You really should be fully clothed with eye protection. When spraying off a ladder, the back pressure has knocked people off ladders injuring them. Be aware of your effluent- crazy people today will sue you for your runoff getting into the street, their yard or the nearby stream. Go easy with it and use a wider nozzle pattern than you think you need. Pressure washers destroy masonry, especially stucco.
Please keep up the vids. Perhaps more using test gizmos- pressure and vac. testing for ex.
    Thx

Had both my hips replaced last year (5 months apart) and going for a new knee this fall. I'm confident that Ron will rock on with some new components.
Also, I've had good luck with replacing pressure washer pumps. I get them from the local scrap collectors for scrap value, pop a new pump on, and resell for small profit. I'm glad you mentioned the spacer issue, I've been bitten by that one also. On thing to also watch for, is whether the hose fittings are oriented to the front or back of the motor. It's easy to get the wrong pump because of this.
    Good luck!

I hope Ron's surgery went well. When people store these pressure washers, they should put antifreeze in the pump. I made a pvc pipe that attaches to the water inlet of the pump, and put a valve on the other end to pressurize it and force the antifreeze into the pump. If you are not storing it for too long it is a good idea to blow the water out of the pump with air pressure. There are attachments made for this that make it easy.

I keep on using my 2004 Campbell Hausefeld pressure washer. I had to replace a spring in it about 10 years ago. The pressure wasn't up to snuff. It's a Giant pump. I always store it with no gas, pull it through to get the water out, and drain the hose. About every 5 years I service the pump. So far so good.
You're right about the idle. I saw that in my manual. I try to never let it idle. Not even when I start it.

Knew nothing about them and get an old one, previously returned to a big box store for free. Couldn't get it to start so I tore the carburetor apart, cleaned it, reinstalled it, and got it running. But no pressure. Nozzle was partially clogged, cleaned it, still no pressure. Installed a tee at the water inlet, connected up a second hose from a second faucet and voila, good pressure. Didn't know about not letting it idle and I'll definitely remember that and really appreciate the advice!

Great video! Yes the pumps are super easy to replace. Only three nuts and bolts. I've done a couple of them over the past few months. In the north, where I'm from, people tend to leave their pressure washers in the shed over the winter without draining the water! Pumps freeze and then crack. Bought pumps from amazon, but sometimes the pump mounts aren't long enough and the crankshaft bottoms out in the pump, or the legs don't have a cut away to clear the engine and won't be flush with the cart. No problem, just use some washers or spacers between the pump and the cart to solve the issue.

  • @joevalencic5275

I replaced my original pump after three years of pretty heavy use for a homeowner unit. I literally had to cut the pump off of the shaft with a grinder and Sawzall in order to remove it. The shaft had rusted, and the steel and aluminum had created an inseparable bond. When I put the new pump on, I coated the shaft with anti seize, because I knew that someday I will be doing it again. (Chinesium!)😂 Mine has a Honda engine on it that will outlast several pumps, I’m sure!
It’s been about four years since the replacement, and it’s now starting to intermittently have pauses of low pressure before the full pressure finally kicks in. I should probably find a pump on sale and put it on the shelf for the inevitable demise when I most need it!
Love your channel. You’ve saved me lots of time, money and frustration! Prayers for Ron's speedy recovery.

I paid around $3,000.00 for my Diesel 2,000 PSI Hot Water / Steam Pressure washer with an oil burner in 1989. It needs new Pistons. I bought a rebuild kit from a local Dealer who has since retired. My Pressure washer had a reservoir with a float. I eliminated the Reservoir , now the pump is fed by 40-60 PSI Cold water instead of suction. Also I have a water softer in my shop .and I feed my pressure washer with soft water.
I had to acid clean my burner elements to removed all the iron and calcium before I had the Pressure washer.
I was aware of not idling. I always turn off my pump if I pause for any reason more than 30 seconds.. My has electric pump belt drive 220 volts. I don't even use soap.. Hot water works great on greasy old trucks and front end loaders ect.
Seems KAT is a very common brand of pump .

I've had a PW that's 20+ years old. Still works great. First repair was simple - o rings were leaking. Easy peesy. Had the harbor freight o-ring kit assortment and that took care of it. A few years ago it just peed like you were showing. Turns out the ball and spring that control soap and high pressure modes was stuck in the pump. clue was you could see drops of water moving in the soap line as was trying to suck liquid. Took out plug and cleaned schmoo (old hardened soap and crap) out and it worked fine afterwards. There's no filter on the soap line so whatever you use to hold soap needs to be clean or it will gum up that valve. When you're done, if you run some clean water thru that line/soap reservoir and work the valve to make sure there's no remaining soap in there you can avoid that issue. A friend had an issue with his PW. No pressure. Dummy had lost all his tips and was wondering why no pressure with the soap nozzle that was in the wand. Yup, that happens.
    Godspeed Ron.

Best wishes for Ron. I had both hips replaced at the same time nine years ago. It was like coming back from the dead. It gave me my life back. I don't know what kind of procedure Ron's doctor is using, but my doctor used what they call the anterior approach. It requires no cutting of muscles tendons or ligaments and the recovery time is extremely short. My surgery was 1 o'clock in the afternoon on a Monday and I walked out of the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. I didn't even need painkillers during my recovery and I have never looked back. Best of luck for Ron. As for you, I don't know why you would say we are troopers if we watch till the end. I can't imagine anyone turning your videos off while you were still speaking. I have karcher water pressure that would lose pressure every few seconds. I found a replacement part called the "unloader valve". I took the pump off and replaced the valve and it solved the problem. The part cost around $25.00
One caveate, it took me several times to reassemble the pump correctly. I did not take pictures with every step of disassembly. Thinking i could remember how it went back together. I make this mistake all the time. I am slowly over coming this tendancy to think i will remember how everything will go back together.
Great video. I love her honesty.

You didn't check the UNLOADER VALVE ! ! ! Lots of times cleaning, lubricating and adjusting it fixes that problem for FREE ! ! ! Hope Ron feels better soon.

The problem with the cheap pressure washers is their water cooled by the water they're pumping. You stop pumping the water it stops cooling. I've had clients ask why I don't ever stop spraying......

The problem is your dead-heading the pump. Every time you stop there's a sudden and drastic increase in pressure, causing excessive stress on smaller components. Eventually, something's gonna give. Idling the pump is what causes overheating.

All pressure washers are cooled by the liquid they pump.

@@philliphall5198 That's actually a good way to bypass The pressure valve that controls the engine when hard water clogs it up.

I am by no means an expert I always come to you for knowledge on these things, I wanted to share my experience with my 14 year old craftsman w/6gp Briggs and Stratton and my brand new TroyBilt with the Honda engine. I had the very same issue with both. Water coming through runs no pressure. I found out it was my error the Honda works great now because initially I put oil in it and it met the mark but I screwed it in to check the oil level which makes it appear to be at level. I finally found in the owners manual 12.5 to 14 oz and do not screw in the dipstick to check. Why this info was not in the quick start info I do not know but that worked. So I decided to check my old Craftsman today trained the oil and refill and checked correctly and bingo it worked! Mined you I used that unit weekly to clean area rugs and buffer pads and never had an issue until the last time I used it I guess I messed up the last oil change. Now I am debating on keeping or giving to a family member. Thanks for all you do.

Yes, I replaced my pump on my pressure washer years ago. And I upgraded the pump to a different type that sounds so much better and has lasted longer than the old one did. I’m glad I decided to replace the pump vs buying a new one.

I sincerely hope that Ron has a great and problem free operation. I have had both hips replaced at different times, and it was a nightmare both times. But hopefully nowadays the technology and knowledge have advanced. Best wishes.
