Skinny jeans with knee high boots is an equestrian look that will always look classy and classic. I say this as a former equestrian gal… it’s a very put-together, classy, even “old money” look. It’s baffling to me that at the height of “quiet luxury” trends, some influencers claim it’s outdated. Maybe if your top isn’t classic or is outdated, maybe, but as you are wearing it here, it’s classic and looks much better than the ankle jeans with ankle boots.
I agree with all of your tips, but the first example showing a longer, oversized sweater gives you that half and half proportion, instead of the one third, two thirds. I would create some waist definition, maybe with a belt, to give some shape. Thanks for another great video! ❤
I know wearing crop sweats and a Tshirt while working from home is a style mistake. Your first sweater and jeans reference- either looks equally fitting. I’m not a fan of short ruffles on the shoulder over a long sleeve and mock neck. Seems fussy. I would like that sweater better without. Colors are fun!
Love this! But I was under the impression that wearing tall boots over jeans is a look that is considered out of style. And I have noticed that I don’t really see women wearing that look anymore!
I heard a really great concept today from Nada Hanley (I think the last name is correct). She offers the perspective is that a classic style can be trending but when it no longer is, it resumes its classic status but is never really out of style.
Love your southern charm, I have that top your wearing in 2 colors I love it in burgundy and olive green with my wide leg jeans and western boot. Great tips 😊 I usually wear a crop jacket with a maxi dresses. Shoe porportion is so important, I use to struggle with that but I figured it out and you are so right!
This was so useful, Jamie. I especially like the side by side format. It really brings your points home. Keep up the the great work! BTW, that shade of pink is right in my wheelhouse!
I always look forward to your videos. I’ve been struggling the last few years with my style. I’ve gone along with whatever is trendy but finally came to the conclusion that I’m more of a boho style. I feel the best in at least one piece that is kind of funky! Would you do a video on boho styles?
I always love your videos! Also, I love that you go with what looks good as opposed to 100% sticking to the rules. Sometimes, you just have to experiment to see what looks visually good and you nail it every time!
You always offer such great advice! This video reinforces a lot of what I learned eons ago in home economics (sewing) in high school and college (design)! I totally agree with you on proportion, and it is something a lot of people just don’t think to check, but it makes such a difference! Great video!
I think it is important to consider bair as an accessory. For example, you look so incredible in that all camel outfit! I think you should consider incorporating the Pantone color Peach Fuzz into your wardrobe as it would work so well with your hair and complexion. Great video!
Thank you for the style advice. I'm not liking the oversized sweater on a petite frame. The sweater hits at the widest part of our body. It doesn't make for a good look, in my opinion.
This is another great video and I really appreciate it. Normally I do not like black with navy. Usually the contrast of the black makes the navy look dull. Both the shirt and jacket you show here are a saturated bue navy. Your example looks good but it all depends on the navy color of the specific garment in my opinion.
I liked the skinny jeans & tall boots, but I thought the proportions were better in the alternate look. I would wear both looks... scrutinized too much. 😂🤣
Hey 👋 pretty lady Thanks for the vid and all your effort! I prefer to wear a moto jacket or a waist length denim jacket with maxi dresses/skirts. It just “feels better” to me 😂 I will drape a long wool coat over that if it’s really cold out
I’ve kept a few skinny jeans to wear with tall boots. Here in the Midwest it’s for sloppy weather and warmth! I also love a long boyfriend cardigan but either wear a shorter top or tuck in. At 5 ’2” I’d look way out of proportion if I didn’t. I’ve never been on board with lug soled shoes, they just feel overpowering on me.
I hugely agree with the importance of the right shoes. This is what I do every work morning, after I decided on my outfit, I immediately go downstairs, where all my shoes are, and try on the shoes I have in mind - trust me, many times what I had in mind turned out to be totally not working. I then go by finding the right shoes because I shamelessly have so many pairs. Sometimes it took three to four tries before I could find the right fit. Please take my advice and do this, otherwise you might run the risks of being late just because you can’t find the right shoes before you have to get going. And of course, that means you always have to take a look at yourself before you dash out of doors - otherwise you may regret the whole day.
❤great reminders- especially the different jean types and shoe tips. I’m wondering if you could do a dedicated bow video incorporating that trend in clothing , print, and accessory options. 🎀
My hair is platinum thanks to God! 😂 SO color is not an option but a necessity! I cannot wear those lovely beige, brown, or camel colors any longer. I would love to see more clothing color videos for people like me that cannot wear beige and brown shades.
A common mistake is wearing yoga pants/ leggings as clothes with a crop or dumpy tee shirt. Sounds odd, but I see this look every day on women of all ages and all shapes and sizes.
Just yesterday I took off the necklace I was thinking of wearing and just leaving the earrings and belt. Definitely more balanced. Or wear necklace but no earrings.
Thank you for this video. I am fairly new to your channel and am really enjoying it. I have always been a bit "shoe" color blind and was wondering if you might do a video on exactly HOW to choose the color of shoe that would go best with the outfit? It's second nature to a lot of people, but for some of us it's quite difficult. Thanks!
I think the fullness of the skirts hem also determines the length of coat you wear with them a really full skirt looks better with a coat thats either the same length of longer than the hem of the skirt or a cropped jacket i think there can be too much fabric around you ankles and make you look bottom heavy but if you balance it out at the top it looks okay i don't think there a one firs all rule to skirt and coat lengths just balance out your proportions and it will look great 👍
I tuck in all my tops, or wear short, hipbone- to waist-length ones. If the shape of the hip and waist area can’t be seen, the figure is obscured. I like to show shape, but not necessarily skin. I won’t wear anything very low-cut, for example, but I love V-necks if they’re modest. Pushing up the sleeves, too, temperature permitting. The best thing I ever did for my style was to get rid of all those tunic tops and big shirts and sweaters (that can’t be tucked) that were in style around Y2K. Long, but fitted, tops are coming into style, they’re not as bad. Many have buttons that open from the waist down.
Good video and l like boots with skinny jeans but l think they should be tight against the calf . I’m not a fan if loose opening on the skinny jean. I think your videos are helpful for what women actually wear daily. Thanks for your hard work
I think skinny jeans will be back soon. Too many people cling to them, designers cant't ignore. Just like the high waist is now back with a vengeance because people just did not accept the low rise in the last few years
Imagine your life boils down to spending attention to the perfect style of your clothes. I would feel for you but I'm busy living, wearing any pants I can grab in a hurry. In the end I'm getting probably more compliments that you do because people respond to my personality more than to your style.
Details like these are so easy to overlook but visually they make a huge difference. That advice from Coco Chanel always reminds me of Barbara Stanwyck in Stella Dallas, namely the beginning of this scene: ua-cam.com/video/qWvtFvHFUi0/v-deo.html yikes 😅
❤great reminders- especially the different jean types and shoe tips. I’m wondering if you could do a dedicated bow video incorporating that trend in clothing , print, and accessory options. 🎀
I like skinny jeans with boots. I’m in a wet climate (England) so it makes sense, but I also like the look.
Your hazelnut outfit with the beige trench is *chef's kiss* for your coloring! Beautiful.
Good video
Boots and skinny jeans just looks too dated for me. (loved it a few years ago) The flair leg looked so much more modern
The beige, camel, and rust look fabulous on you!
I hadn’t thought about that too much before. I was wearing straight legged jeans like they were all purpose. Thanks for that tip

Great reminders and btw - love the cinnamon colored dress with boots and trench on you! 😊

I still wear it. It’s not out.
I wear it still and it’s a classic equestrian look (I wrote a comment above as to why I think it fits perfectly with “quiet luxury” trends).
I don't wear it anymore. It looks outdated to me.
I’m doing it. It’s a good look for outdoor events. If everything else is current with your look you’re fine.

Agree about adding color 🎉

Midis are coming back for spring, but they are generally in solid circle skirts or A-line shapes.

Hello from germany. Thank you so much for this video.😍I love this kind of videos. It was very helpful for me.🥰
I always love your videos! Also, I love that you go with what looks good as opposed to 100% sticking to the rules. Sometimes, you just have to experiment to see what looks visually good and you nail it every time!
I love that pink, striped top you’re wearing!
Thank you! It's from Antheopologie!

I like the boots and skinny jeans .
Great video!
One of the most fabulous helpful videos I’ve seen TY.
I love the pink shirt.
Thanks!
Great video!
I think I haven’t understood much about proportion til now.

I sometimes find shoes that I want to wear and style my whole outfit to go with them. I do it with purses, too.

Agree with you 100%!
Love all of your ideas!!!
I just can’t do the black and navy thing… reminds me of a bruise. Haha! 😅
My hair is platinum thanks to God! 😂 SO color is not an option but a necessity! I cannot wear those lovely beige, brown, or camel colors any longer. I would love to see more clothing color videos for people like me that cannot wear beige and brown shades.
Such great information. Ty. You have a great channel. 💕

Navy looks good with most colours i think its more forgiving than black too navy and Camel can be a beautiful look
Just yesterday I took off the necklace I was thinking of wearing and just leaving the earrings and belt. Definitely more balanced. Or wear necklace but no earrings.

Love wearing skinny jeans with high knee boots.
It was drilled into my head as a child that your skirt or dress should never be longer than your coat. My mother was a stickler for this rule….lol

What kind of shoes would you wear with white jeans in early spring? I think it’s early spring where I live.
The sweater and knee high boots look proportional to me too. It is in thirds.
I think skinny jeans will be back soon. Too many people cling to them, designers cant't ignore. Just like the high waist is now back with a vengeance because people just did not accept the low rise in the last few years
scarves?
I do like the skinny jeans but the white sweater sleeves are way too big!
For some reason the woven bag link is the same as the black hobo bag. Can you please provide a link for it. Thank you
I love the pink striped top. Where did you get it?
I linked it in the description. It's from Anthropologie. They sold out of this color but have a couple of others.
Ugh … I cannot do navy and black
Proportions are trickier when you are shorter and have wider hips. You look tall and slim. Right?
No, I'm 5'4".
You asked: I do not care for skinny jeans or high boots. 😊
one style mistake is trying to look 30 years younger than you are, and showing too much skin that would look better covered up.
Imagine your life boils down to spending attention to the perfect style of your clothes.
I would feel for you but I'm busy living, wearing any pants I can grab in a hurry.

Yet you clicked on her style video. It cost nothing to be kind and respectful.
Exactly,if you aren’t going to be respectful, then please don’t say anything.
Thank you for this! ❤️
Thank you so much! 💗

Great tips, but your shirt Doesn’t work for an adult, it is a toddler shirt, looks real bad.
You wave your hands around constantly. It's distracting.
Horrible blouse or shirt 😮pink
