Agree. I just sprung to add a second one to my wardrobe. I know I will get some good wear out of it. I also have a good collection of more fun button up shirts, but I find that I need some "plain Jane" shirts as well.
Recently I heard an excellent clarification about trends vs. style. Trends are about changing fashion, while style is how we use clothing to present ourselves to the world. While it's important to note trends (or fashion) as they change, it's even more important to stay true to your style. Nothing brilliant or earth shattering, but this perspective helps frame our decisions.
Two things I disagree with. First, a classic white fitted button up is timeless and classic. It may not be trending, but will NEVER be out of style. Secondly, classic high heeled pumps will never go out of style either. Again, flats may be trending, but if I am wearing dress pants, a non-casual dress or a pencil skirt, my Manolo or Jimmy Choo classic pumps will always be my go to. Thanks for your videos.
Love plain button up shirts. They are a staple for the wardrobe and never go out of style. Some of the variations are good. When they get too frilly they can only be styled in a certain way and are not as versatile
Same! I’m slender and hourglass shape and baggy looks totally, totally awful on me. An unstructured blouse makes me look like I’m wearing a tent because everything just hangs off of my big boobs.
Most baggy clothes look crap on everyone. If you look at some of the examples here, the models are making the clothes look better buy creating shape like tucking in one side or placing a hand on the waist.
Wedges will probably be out this spring and summer, but it's the only decent heel I can wear. Ironically flats are more uncomfortable to me than wedges because they are so flat and offer not support. I'm probably the only one but a little platform in heel or boot makes a huge difference for me.
I think if you are shorter, wearing a midi with tall boots can be very flattering. So many of us have figured out how to incorporate "out of style" pieces into cute outfits so I keep many of these items in my closet- they all come back eventually, right? * I never ever wore flat shoes as I am a chunky boot girl for life.
As a pear shape with large thighs, I have been so frustrated trying to replace my skinny jeans, especially here in Italy where it's challenging to find anything larger than a US size 10. Classic straight and wide-leg jeans looked awful, but have found slim and bootcut to be much more flattering options. Just thought I'd share because I find so many of these trends challenging for those of us who are fuller-figured.
In my opinion, it's better to stay classy, chic but not boring. Trends come and go but a classy style will always be. Regarding the shoes, certain clothing you can wear with heels and others with flats, and I'm not talking about huge heels with platforms... so I'll say both are needed.
Count me in as someone who will not part with her heels, but I like that kitten heels are growing in popularity. I am always looking for some. I have small feet and because of trigonometry, a 2 1/2 inch heel looks and wears like a 3 1/2 heel. And since I wear heels everyday, comfort and function are important.
Many of us still wear the formal suits to work, so that will not go out of the corporate dress code for a while… but outside office of course. But formal suiting is still there for work.😊
It all sounds good to me. I'm thinking we're still going to see pink in the mainstream. All the pink lovers bought as much as they could and they are definitely not parting ways with it. It may not be a trending color now, but I don't think it was a fad either.
Pink looks kinda delicious mixed with the peach fuzz tones in the right mix of textures.....( I really got into pink also and will have to "extend" the life of many of these purchases).....😊
I will still love Fuschia....just a few pieces; made in a loose modern knit; looks great with navy; white ,black and grey and certain blues. Those are my base colors as it stands
Excellent video as always. Just ordered a hot pink hooded zip sweatshirt. The color may be out but I loved it's brightness and at my age I wear what I like, within reason, and leave the trends to the young'uns. 😊
I'm glad the oversized trend is going. Never could get on board with that one. Also happy to see flats in the spotlight. I like maxi skirts/dresses in light, flowy fabrics. In heavier fabrics (like denim) I think the midi length is more comfortable. Great video, as always, Jamie! ❤
I really like the revamped Chanel style “lady jackets”. Just goes to show how styles come back. I think the bows style is juvenile. At my age, I would feel like Haley Mills in “Pollyanna” wearing hair bows and bows on my clothes 🎀🎀🎀
I agree with most of your comments. Personally, I couldn't be happier for the "sneaker trend". I never liked the masculine look in women's fashion. Regarding midi/maxi: I like both, but being petite, I think midi length works better. Maxis (depending on fabric) can look overwhelming on me. PROPORTION is super important for petites. That oversized look never worked for me.
Fellow petite here. Agree about the oversize look not working for petites. It simply doesn't. What's worse is that when that's the fashion, the smaller sized among us run out of options. One cannot size down from a size 00. I learned how to sew specificaly so that I could alter clothes to fit.
I should brush up my sewing skills at least for minor alterations. I love that I am petite. There are always ways to adapt a “look”. In addition to the ripped jeans, I never thought the cold-shoulder tops were particularly flattering. Thankfully, they came and went fast. I don’t exactly hold to monochrome dressing, but I absolutely like a pop of color.
I AM 5 FT 1 IN. Maxi skirts eat me up. Midis are a little longer than mid calf on us shorties, and they look best, rather than maxis. The exception is a sleeveless or halter-top summer maxi dress that doesn't have a lot of fabric. And as for me, I wouldn't wear a pair of ballet flats or loafer if you paid me. I am too short and look like I'm standing in a hole. Give me at least a 2 inch heel to feel and look good in my clothes. Love your videos.
Maxi length dresses and skirts are difficult for petites. As are midi-lengths. I wear all lengths of skirts, but most of my dresses and skirts are between mini and just below the knee. I have a few maxi length skirts and dresses that I absolutely love. There are days when I just feel romantic and love a flowy ankle length skirt. But they don't look the best on me (I'm 5'1").
I do not, and have never, enjoyed over sized clothing! No skin tight, just never find tight clothing acceptable. I like my clothes in classic proportions.
I love a denim skirt and have 2, a knee length and a midi that looks great with knee high boots (I think so, anyway) but the maxi denim (to me) looks very Big Love. Thrilled that more femine styles are coming back...love a good bow moment.
I feel like my legs are among my better features and so if I am going to wear a skirt (which I don't do all that often), it seems unfortunate to have it be so long that my legs are not being seen at all. And I also feel like a shorter denim skirt is more comfortable than a long one (which I think can start to feel almost like a hobble skirt even if it has a big slit in it). So i don't know that I am that happy about that trend.
Theres nothing looks more classic than a lovely white shirt, an the trend situation well people should wear what they wish to wear, an really be their own person, instead of running about trying to dress the same, like honestly thats not an individual person is it.
Beautiful hair as always Jamie! I agree with most of what you say. I know the bright pink is going out so I will wear it with another color like blue, grey or black instead of head to toe. Although maxi is in, the longest I can go is a long midi since I am only 5 feet high and I just don't have enough inches to support something a bit longer. That's what is nice about the trends. Sometimes they work out and sometimes we work around them. Thank you for all your hard work in making these. They are so fun and I always look forward to what you share!
You explained everything I need to know for my next purchase. I agree with all you have said, except I'm only 5'2" and I don't wear flats. Great info. Thank you.
Great video! Tks again for providing insight. Trends come and go… style is more content. I personally don’t follow a lot of trends rather stick to a style that I feel comfortable with and that can easily change from season to season.
Never liked or wore baggy clothes, not attractive at all. So glad masculine clothes out… again never liked or wore. I love kitten heal. Great video as always.
Great video! I love both, maxi dresses and midi and I am glad the baggy oversized styles are not trending anymore. The most important part of anything you wear is really the color. If it is not aligned with your True Color Type, no perfect fit or fabric will make up for that. It is the next big trend: custom color analysis and no more generic color analysis like the Seasonal Color Analysis.
what bothers me about flats being in style is that platform/chunky is out and the low-profile is in... yet I feel like a statement sole lends itself to wider-bottom pants. so I'm kinda disappointed that wide leg is supposed to be paired with shoes that practically disappear... it feels out of balance
Two things I would love to see in your upcoming videos ...Can you find some slim straight options for those of us who can't/won't pay over $100 and preferably less? And what can we wear in place of shorts and sleeveless tops/dresses in summer? Many of us over 60 followers aren't comfortable showing upper arms and legs but still want to look stylish and be comfortable in warm weather. Thanks. Love your videos!
I’m not too mad at the button up shirt as I place it underneath my jackets and sweaters but grateful for the variety coming out in 2024. I’m excited for the bows coming out too! I love ballet flats but I’d pair them with trouser socks this winter season.
I agree with all of the trends you said were leaving. Oversized adds weight; no matter which way you style it. This style suited the super thin. Legs in jeans need to be a little bit relaxed, and jeggings are not pants. I have seen too many backsides; some were brow raisers and in poor taste. Kitten heels are always a nice look.
I think your predictions are spot on with general trends; I'm also very interested with some of the influences that start trends, like the beautiful clothing the Indian wife wears in Scorcese's most recent film, sort of traditional shapes in super luxe fabrics....would love to hear some comment on this sort of thing as well. Thank you Jamie, loved your new hair do with extra height on top also🤓
Always love your videos!! Bummed about the Barbie pink going out. I bought the cutest short sleeve knit top and a tennis skirt last year and I love them. 💕 I will probably wear them a little while longer.
I remember the fuschia was THE Fall color Fall before last...I bought a blazer. Now it is the Barbie pink that is going out of style. Here is how I handle clothing purchases so I dont have a closet full of orphans. Ibuy MY nest colors😊. And my best styles. I might biy an utem or two that is "in" but evenmthem I plan to incorporate it long term like the vest from past summer. I love them over blouses,,sheep tops etc even tees. Mine end at the waist amd flatter my hourglas figure❤.
Enjoyed your take on things kind and. Full of alternate ways to use what IS GOING OUT..to segue to look less dated..ps kitten heel nod made me. Giggle- back in 1965 !! Iwas on the Fashion Board for Portlands popular Iconic Department store..and found photos of that kitten heel with the same Mary Jane trim .ofcourse I dont still.have them!!! Cheers to You and Your gracious Style Sense..with no blame no shame vocabulary to mock or demean!
I agree l do think flats need a bit higher heel or you could gave back aches down the road . Love maxi and mini. I’m 72 and little short 😂 The feminine look is wonderful. Oversized blazer over the hill
Fun video. ❤.. I feel so flat in flats., although I think they look great on others. I'll stick to my sneakers depending on what Im wearing. I think high heels look best. I had a man stop me just the other day and I was wearing jeans with high heels...he said: "I wish my wife dressed like this". I told him thank you, but not to be too hard on your wife because they'll come off as soon as I get home. "...lol. Edit: I just purchased a silk pink top, and it's not going anywhere.
Yes to most, I think white button down is still going strong, maybe more relaxed. I loved récent Dior collection look- white shirt, rolled sleeves and midi straight black skirt( skirt of little bit crinkled fabric) its still classic but with a twist, more casual. Now barbie pink. So I got last year dress kind of bright pink, not over the top. Didn’t have chance to wear , so yes I am going wear this spring or soon, cause I live in SF. I definitely getting ballet flats or Mary Janes . Love to wear with shorter dresses. Have a blessed day🙏❤️
My take away from this is I am glad I do not follow the trends. A good white shirt will never go out of style, but it should not be one that is super fitted. A maxi skirt is not for everyone. Petit people are overwhelmed by this look, and as someone who is all legs with a short waist this is way too much fabric for me. You would think that longer legs would be able to pull this look off, but the short waist makes the proportions way off. Never been a fan of the huge blazer jackets on women. It makes us look like we are playing dress up with our mothers clothes. However, we all have our own tastes in clothing. There are women out there that pull off any look and look great. I know from years of trial and error and being a recovered fashion slave that I am not one of those women and my wallet thanks me. Thanks for the video, and at the end of the day, wear what makes you happy.
Great video! I am super excited about making a maxi dress for summer. Which for Texas will be in about two weeks. 😂 I just ordered those Naturalizer flats in the snake skin!
Glad I didn't throw out my 3 Armani jackets when I retired 14 years ago. despite changes in volume and length. They still look great with jeans and a tank top.
I bought a lot of Barbie Core Pink, and this is the second 'what's going out of style' video that has said it's going out. Sometimes, when a trend hits really hard like this color, it will always now be related to Barbie 2023. (insert sad face emoji here.)
Yes, just mix your pink pieces with other colours and textures to avoid the Barbie core pink on pink. I bought A LOT of pink too this last season😊 oh well! we will fit right in with the feminine look!!
I’ve seen hemlines SLIGHTLY past the widest part of the leg called “midi” and “ maxi” on retail websites. Wear any skirt that avoids that no go zone wherever it falls on YOU. White plain jane button down shirts, not uber tight and not uber loose, are classic and always in style. Keep it in the closet!
1:42 Where did you get the hoodie you layered under your blazer? It really updates the wool blend blazer and I would love it to update the ones in my work wardrobe. New sub here.
I never liked the big boxy look of oversized garments as I tend to lean toward a more classic fit. I love button down shirts of various colors and styles. You just can't go wrong when your layering, especially darning cooler weather, I love the button down under a classic sweater. I have ditched my skinny jeans in favor of the relaxed straight or wide leg options. I'm totally loving those updated options in 2024.
My favorite is the first outfit you had on 🥰The oversized camel toned blazer, and there was a sweatshirt layered underneath it with another matching cream top… I can’t find any of those extra items, including the jeans and the boots in your descriptions. I saw the jacket but that was it. Can you please let us know where those other items Can be purchased? It’s so much easier for us to find the products when you categorize them as outfit number one, outfit, number two, outfit, number three, etc. because I’m not sure which jeans you had on, but I really liked the style. Thank you so much!
I found a blue and striped button down banker shirt from J. Crew that I really want. The problem is, I have ordered it twice now only to have it sold out and my money refunded. Gonna keep trying, maybe eventually they will have it.
To me, straight maxi skirts look "dumpy", and if the fabric is heavy, such as denim, they feel uncomfortable. Maxi lengths with the lovely flowing dresses you presented are lovely, however.
I’m petite and maxis and flat shoes besides sneakers make me look crazy. Midis and heels will never be out of style for me. JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN DOESN’T MEAN YOU SHOULD.
I said this too! Or rainy weather or mud or 😂. They can look so pretty, I’ve just rarely felt comfortable in them unless maybe it’s mild and sunny and then they will probably still be too long for me and I might trip anyway 😅
Flats in fashion sound wonderful. I haven't been able to wear high heels in a decade. I am so very over the MAXI dress/skirt thing. Some of us are short and round so this look doesn't do anything good. It really is not flattering on most women. It looks great on tall ladies who wear the dresses appropriately, but on the average woman walking down the street, the hem of their skirt is dragging on the ground just like their jeans are frayed from walking on them. Mid-length is for some of us the most flattering length, showing off our gorgeous lower legs and adding length. It is a shame that designers only style to their favorites, instead of styling for everyone. I agree with the others the classic tailored button-down is always in style. I also agree with the hostess, they do not all fit well or look well on everyone. But the classics are always in good taste.
Free People is sending me lots of emails with that bright Barbie pink all over them. I know they do what they want & aren't about trends, but in my next life I'm going to be a tall skinny Free People model who thrives in their flowy, feminine boho clothes so I'm still embracing the color while pretending I'm that young and cute. LOLOLOL
ha ha, I am 79 years old and love Free People clothes. I always get xs size and only wear one big piece of clothing, on top or bottom. Always get compliments, because their stuff is so unusual.
Hmm Im very torn with this video because with the exception of the overly baggy clothes and the barbie pink.. I wouldnt set any of the so called out of style items aside- plain jane shirts regardless of silhouette is a staple in most people’s closet and it pairs nicely with the so called traditional suiting, kitten hills maybe the in thing but moderate high heels still looks beautiful paired nicely with so called suiting thats out of style.
Button down shirts are staples, classics, especially in white. They don't go out of style.
Agree. I just sprung to add a second one to my wardrobe. I know I will get some good wear out of it. I also have a good collection of more fun button up shirts, but I find that I need some "plain Jane" shirts as well.
I think she said OVERSIZED white button down.
Sorry. You’re right.
Even though button up white shirts are classic, their shape, size and details change.
But they can become less trendy.
Plain white button up shirts will NEVER go out of style!
New shirts my come in but the white button down has been here and will always be here it's a classic. I'm sixty and it's always been In style
No need to throw out...just rest it a while😄
I am also 60, never made use of a white button down
yeah but I like encouragement to seek out more interesting white button-ups with thoughtful details/silhouettes

Well stated.
I love this insight!! So true!!
Classic never go out style 😊
They are great...but look better mixed up a bit to retain interest and fun when dressing
Classic,a nice way to say boring

Again, flats may be trending, but if I am wearing dress pants, a non-casual dress or a pencil skirt, my Manolo or Jimmy Choo classic pumps will always be my go to. Thanks for your videos.
Heels are never going away, or out of style...flats are just thrown in as relief.
Love plain button up shirts. They are a staple for the wardrobe and never go out of style. Some of the variations are good. When they get too frilly they can only be styled in a certain way and are not as versatile
I’m short and petite, and find baggy, oversized clothes to be unflattering. I never bought into the style.
Petite is defined being 5'3" and under. One can be petite, but still be fat or obese.😃
Same! I’m slender and hourglass shape and baggy looks totally, totally awful on me. An unstructured blouse makes me look like I’m wearing a tent because everything just hangs off of my big boobs.

I am with you on flats. I have a really high arch and need support.
A totally flat shoe causes my legs to ache especially backside of knee…a little heel helps a lot.
I agree!
Definitely not the only one!😟😟
no,I am with you 100%!
I don’t think the midi length is going out of style. Full midi length skirts are trending along with midi pencil skirts with split hems and such.

I love the maxi, but I am soooo short and that length would make me even more so 😢Great video by the way!
Skirt lengths depend on fabric, style, and the fit of the skirt, not on some arbitrary trend.
Yes, and I use both fitted skirt to the knees and some dresses that reach to the midle of my leg. But the trend is maxi just now.
I will still love Fuschia....just a few pieces; made in a loose modern knit; looks great with navy; white ,black and grey and certain blues. Those are my base colors as it stands
Fuschia (or rosepink) with navy and (winter)white are my all times favourite winter colour combo! 😊
I like some purple in there too
The problem wth maxi length is that if you're 5' 4" or under .. you're taking your dress purchase to a tailor.
I recently turned a maxi skirt into a halter top summer dress. It's still ankle length 😅(I'm 5'1")
Thats why I loved the 7/8 trouser trend, I could actually buy and wear without heming pants!!
Excellent video as always. Just ordered a hot pink hooded zip sweatshirt. The color may be out but I loved it's brightness and at my age I wear what I like, within reason, and leave the trends to the young'uns. 😊

The right one can look very sophisticated on an evening dress. Say a cream and black dress.
I am 60, hair almost to my elbow. I love hair bows. I wear my hair braided to work and will add a bow or bows on hairbands.
@@robinluettke47 you do you ❤️
I agree with most of your comments. Personally, I couldn't be happier for the "sneaker trend". I never liked the masculine look in women's fashion. Loving that metallic Tshirt and blazer on you, v cool & fresh
I’ve been wearing straight leg jeans with ballet flats for years. I’m finally on trend!
Button up shirts will never go out of style especially for the office.
I will always be a heal girl!!!! Flats look frumpy on me!!! #teamheals 👡👡👠👠
Perfect video! I love bright pink and always have!! So I guess I will be pointed at this year!!😂😂💖💖💖Thank you Jamie!🎉
Me too! Love hot pink and will always wear it! 🩷🩷🩷

You explained everything I need to know for my next purchase. I agree with all you have said, except I'm only 5'2" and I don't wear flats. Great info. Thank you.
❤❤thanks for these videos I have had to replace my wardrobe and this helps me spend wisely! It's just for fun but it's business as well!
Very interested in summer maxi styles and the flats I could wear with them, thanks Jamie!
Great video! Tks again for providing insight. Trends come and go… style is more content. I personally don’t follow a lot of trends rather stick to a style that I feel comfortable with and that can easily change from season to season.
I love maxi skirts and I’m 5’2. There’s so much play in styling midi skirts
Never liked or wore baggy clothes, not attractive at all. So glad masculine clothes out… again never liked or wore.
I love kitten heal.
Great video as always.
Maxi dresses and skirts are the most slimming of all imo. Done correctly it creates a long unbroken line which elongates the body.
I LOVE those blazers that tie closed! So cute!
Love loafers, Mary Janes & fashion sneakers.
Great video! I love both, maxi dresses and midi and I am glad the baggy oversized styles are not trending anymore. The most important part of anything you wear is really the color. The biggest trend to me is always individuality
Button down shirts are almost impossible to “size down” for anyone with boobs. We end up sizing up and getting them tailored 😢

Remember when we called "midi-length" "calf-length," and "maxi" "long"?
I’m not too mad at the button up shirt as I place it underneath my jackets and sweaters but grateful for the variety coming out in 2024. I’m excited for the bows coming out too! I love ballet flats but I’d pair them with trouser socks this winter season.
I agree with all of the trends you said were leaving. Oversized adds weight; no matter which way you style it. This style suited the super thin. Legs in jeans need to be a little bit relaxed, and jeggings are not pants. I have seen too many backsides; some were brow raisers and in poor taste. Kitten heels are always a nice look.
I don’t mind flats but I am definitely keeping my higher heels! I love them and at 5’2 I feel better in heels! 😂
Wear it as long as it looks good on you!
Maybe instead of the all over pink "Barbie" look try mixing with other unexpected shades...even "peach fuzz" in a sheer.....
I would still wear it. People always wear pink thar like it. I do.
Styles come and go and then come back I wear what i like and have you have to remember the stores need to make more money ❤
Always love your videos!
"...lol.
Edit:
I just purchased a silk pink top, and it's not going anywhere.
The anthro site isn’t working. Can u re-post it? Loving the skinny slims!
Great video ‼️Thank you‼️
The stores are full of pink in all shades here in FL for the Spring.
White button shirts will never go out of style
Glad I didn't throw out my 3 Armani jackets when I retired 14 years ago. despite changes in volume and length. They still look great with jeans and a tank top.
Great video as usual! Still love some menswear tho 😉.
Hi, i love the shorts that go to the knee! Can you please tell me the brand and where i can get them. Thank you!
Pass. I love my white button down top
I bought a lot of Barbie Core Pink, and this is the second 'what's going out of style' video that has said it's going out. Sometimes, when a trend hits really hard like this color, it will always now be related to Barbie 2023. (insert sad face emoji here.)
I would continue to wear it as an accent if it looks good on you and you like the color.
Yes, just mix your pink pieces with other colours and textures to avoid the Barbie core pink on pink. I bought A LOT of pink too this last season😊 oh well! we will fit right in with the feminine look!!
Yes!! so happy , no skinny jeans , great!
I like your relaxed blazer you posed in - the shaping is great.
Love, love a maxi skirt or maxi dress…I hated the midi length being 5’ 2’ a midi cut me up too much.
Great video!!
I found a blue and striped button down banker shirt from J. Crew that I really want. The problem is, I have ordered it twice now only to have it sold out and my money refunded. Gonna keep trying, maybe eventually they will have it.
i don't care much what's in or out but i always loved maxi skirts. as long as below the knee and comfy baggy jeans love it
I lost 60 pounds and am eager to embrace cropped tops, tucked in shirts and more fitted styles to flatter a much slimmer me 😉
Congrats!❤
Well done, enjoy your dressing😄
aLWAYS GREAT VIDEOS, jAMIE ! kd
To me, straight maxi skirts look "dumpy", and if the fabric is heavy, such as denim, they feel uncomfortable. Maxi lengths with the lovely flowing dresses you presented are lovely, however.
Relax and tailored made outfits reminds me with old money style.
I’m petite and maxis and flat shoes besides sneakers make me look crazy. Midis and heels will never be out of style for me. JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN DOESN’T MEAN YOU SHOULD.
I can’t imagine a maxi skirt in winter dragging through slush and snow…give me a midi length skirt and boots any day!
Maxi skirts have always been my favorite
Love your insights.
Probably trying to get rid of the bright pink knowing it's on its way out, I have noticed that stores will do thst.
I love the maxi
Hmm Im very torn with this video because with the exception of the overly baggy clothes and the barbie pink.. I wouldnt set any of the so called out of style items aside- plain jane shirts regardless of silhouette is a staple in most people’s closet and it pairs nicely with the so called traditional suiting, kitten hills maybe the in thing but moderate high heels still looks beautiful paired nicely with so called suiting thats out of style.
