Thanks SO much Jami! This video is VERY helpful! We all need help out here to follow the trends that you always bring to us. The explanation of the various Jean lengths/styles with the outdated booties helped me today! I have old booties & the cropped jeans are ‘still’ trending- so it’s difficult to know from Summer to Fall/Winter how to wear the latest…watch you every week & appreciate ALL your help!
Love videos with "before" and "after" examples! Sometimes you can't tell what's wrong until you see a better version. Love the belted trench and the sweater vest!❤
Like alot of seniors I have wide feet and definitely need wide shoes for comfort. Dress style for me is very much like you have shown in this video, love the side by side comparisons so I can update my look without buying all new outfits. Best video I have seen in a long time. Thank you
I almost always love your looks and style advice. It this time around I thought the “better” options looked sloppy and frumpy. The second jeans look to me was the college sophomore who wakes up five minutes before class
Great idea for a video!! TY so much!! Fun to see before and after outfits!! Wide leg pants, cropped and full length, are very unflattering on everyone. So are sweater vests.
Thanks for the side by side comparisons. Very helpful! My question is, is there a more modern way to wear all my low shaft booties like in example 1? I love mine and they are not worn out yet. Thanks!
In the last look: I'm glad you said if the button down was a little shorter when untucked, it would look better. I tried that look myself, but didn't know why it didn't work. I ended up tucking with a vest like yours 👍♥️ Thanks Jamie.
Great premise for a video tutorial! Wondering about socks and different shoes. In Canada, socks are a must! Would you consider doing a video on sock trends?
The first outfit I think looks better with the skinny jeans but maybe because of the dark wash also. I like denim on denim and also mixing the denim colors. Don’t like shackets, no shape. Vest looks better yes ❤❤❤. Thank you for your videos
I really agree with you on all of these but #2. Personally I thought you looked more put together, slimmer and more ready for the fall weather in the before picture. This is a great format for videos.
I like your suggestions. I like how you provide ways to look more updated and not to look younger. Many influencers will promote looking younger. Of course we don't want to look old but age is inevitable and we should embrace it.
Yes, me too! They are so versatile. You can wear them alone, with a tee, or with a button down shirt. They can go casual or dressy with skirts, dress pants or jeans. They add warmth without bulk.
Love this video! I have a question regarding cropped jeans / pants and not wearing ankle boots with them. I have a really cute, new pair of pants, not jeans, that are cropped. I want to wear them this fall/ winter, but it would be too cold to wear shoes that show skin! What if I wore some knee-high or some high shaft boots under them?
I would try your ankle boots and your knee high boots and just see what you think. If my jeans were not as cropped and came down close to my ankle I think they would have worked better. If you like the look with yours then I would wear it. Also try to find a boot that is close to the same darkness or lightness as your jeans and it might look better as well!
Hi Jaime, Enjoyed video so much. Like the sweater vest idea. Have the Scoop patent blazer and cinch it with a belt. we need to show off our curves! Great tutorial 😁. Enjoy the rest of your week!!
Hi Jamie!! Good video on fall updates with some excellent ideas! Of course, love jeans 👖 but am liking vests so much. Amazing what few changes can up your overall look. Thanks for sharing!!!!
I enjoyed hearing your fashion rules to look put together better. Very helpful to me. I never thought of Walmart clothes before, but you looked stylish in the examples. The vest is something I'd like to add to my outfits.
Love the brown short trench with flared jeans and brown boots, totally love this style! I'm planning on wearing it a lot this fall. I have a brown suede one like this with fringe which I love, I bought it end of winter in February or March. I totally wore this style back in the early 2000s. I had a brown suede coat like this back then, I wish I had kept it. Really not a fan of vests. I feel like they are so unflattering. Thanks for your videos.
Outfit number one does look better with your straight leg jeans, only with that sweater, I would opt for a dark denim wash, and since I'm petite, I would put on a dark pair of boots to elongate my legs. Love the 2nd outfit, only I would opt for a longer pair of wide leg jeans that just laid down on the top of those gorgeous boots. I really love the 3rd & 4th modern outfits, I'd wear these on any crisp fall day. Thanks for some great outfit ideas!
Love the before and after. I am loving the longer and natural or wider leg look. I have long skinny legs and could never find pants long enough when I was growing up, skinny and slim legs take me back to bad memories I never wear leggings!😂. Glad we now have more choices that can make us all happy! 11:15
@YourGuideToStyle I am 61 years old. I stayed fit my entire life. I still have a 25inch waist. It can be hard at my age shopping in the younger section. You help me take the trends of the younger gals and make them sophisticated for my age. I have a granddaughter in NYC and your videos help me pick the best trends to spend my money on for her wardrobe. Thanks so very much for the time you put into your channel.
I would have styled a pair of lug loafers with the cropped jeans rather than flats. I like the denim on denim look and have lots of components for that look 👍🏻 in my closet. PS I also have the brown faux leather cropped trench in my closet. ❤. I also really like the brown/green color combo.
I can handle an ankle cropped pant if it's straight ( a cigarette pant ) but once it's wider or flared, I feel it requires length to balance the width especially on those of us who are not tall. It just becomes another horizontal line making you look shorter or like your pants are too short & don't fit. The only exception would be black or dark pants worn with black boots that the pants cover, but even then...If capris are considered matronly, cropped flare jeans should be too. 😮
I agree with you about that. I also think matching the same lightness or darkness in the items could be an option like you said if you like the look and want to improve it a bit. Thanks for sharing!
What would be the color formula for jeans, shirt and vest? I know there has to be one. Sometimes it's a little frustrating trying to pick the colors of each so that it doesn't look crazy. Like, if wearing blue jeans would you want the vest and shirt to be similar colors and the shoes to match the shirt and vest? Also, I made the mistake of purchasing a shirt dress that is too short for my comfort. It comes mid thigh on me. It has long sleeves and a collar in the color Grape Leaf, a very neutral colored green. How do I wear this and feel comfortable? I have a short bloomer slip that I bought to wear under it...but....I even bought knee high boots to cover my legs more...but I guess I should just give this dress away and consider it a leaning experience huh? I forget that my long waist plus long legs are not going to fit a lot of these dresses.. The model wearing the dress shows it just above the knee....mines at least 2.5 inches higher on me. I thought about buying a really long cardigan, longer than this dress, with buttons and buttoning it up all the way down, lol!! I don't know if that would look right!! I would really appreciate your opinion if this could be easily fixed and still look fashionable or not. Thank you Jamie!
Hi there! I don't think there is a magic formula except to maybe stick to the 3 color rule if your wearing colors that aren't neutral. I wear a white button up shirt with a tan sweater vest and grey jeans with black ankle boots and I love the look. Then I wore that outfit in the video which was a brown vest with a green and white striped shirt and brown jeans with brown snake booties. Since I added the green I decided to stay close in color with the other brown items. A white button up shirt underneath a colored vest and some blue jeans would look nice. I hope that helps. For the dress that is too short, did you try tights with the knee high boots? If your not comfortable or don't like it then I would donate it or give it away or try what the other person suggested if it didn't cost too much and the style would look right shortened into a top. Some people are wearing dresses over jeans and pants. I'm not the biggest fan of that but if you like it you could try it. I hope that helps! ❤️
I like the format of the video. The proposed shoes in No2 make no sense in autumn, when naked ankles are getting cold and I think the ballet flats also shorten the legs in this combination. I wish you had replaced the top of the outfit instead.
I only wear short tops or sweaters, or tuck them in fully if they end below the top of my hipbones, at the longest. Ideally, they will just end at, or just cover, my (high-rise) waistband. This makes a huge difference in one’s proportions. Big, long, boxy tops and sweaters are unflattering, they make the legs look short and hide our figures. They are also frumpy and out of style, they make me think of Martha Stewart’s big shirts worn to hide her thick figure. Some longer tops are trending again, but these are open from the hem to the waistband, a huge improvement. Showing the waist, at least in front, is the key to flattering outfits, regardless of body size or shape. I try to buy petites whenever they are available, most tops and sweaters are ridiculously long, they’re designed for 6-foot women and brands are still making long tops “to cover the tummy”, especially mature brands. Age 64, 5’4”, 125 lbs., US size 8.
Thank for sharing all that! It is hard to find tops in that length and that's why I tuck a lot of my tops in. The longer tunic lengths are definitely out of style and I'm kinda glad, lol.
They are back in style and they are pairing them with midi and maxi skirts and dresses. I have also seen them with tights and shorts! I haven't seen them paired with many pants or jeans. Really the only pant style that looks good with knee high boots is skinny legs and I will still wear them with mine at times.
Honestly I'm more of a slow fashion person. I love to watch style vids. However I steer clear of fad type styles as much as I can. I'm also an environmentalist and can't go along with the idea of wearing a boot or whatever this year but next year it's out of style and where does it go then the landfill":
Denim on denim is fine for others, but I don’t like wearing denim and don’t have much of it in my wardrobe. I don’t really like the flat-felled seams used on casual, heavy-duty, clothes like denim jeans, skirts and jackets and the fabric is stiff, hot and uncomfortable. I know jeans look great, but I just don’t enjoy wearing them and would really prefer wearing a skirt outfit or dress, even in winter, they’re so much more comfortable on me. My at-home loungewear is a knit dress of some sort and I wear nightdresses, not pajamas, for sleeping, too. I don’t find any trousers very comfy and it’s so difficult for me to find a reasonable fit in them.
The first comparison - I don’t think your first “don’t” was “don’t” enough to make a huge difference. Really skinny jeans, like the ones that are almost like jeggings, would’ve made a better contrast. Good format idea. Just think some of the don’t looks are pretty marginal for being out.
I wouldn’t wear skinny jeans, except if tucked into knee-high boots for a muddy walk, etc, but leggings or riding pants are more comfortable and work even better for that purpose. Their silhouette is just out of style and once the overall fashion silhouette changes, there’s really no way to make the previous one look current. I don’t really follow trends closely, but a current silhouette is important, more important than other aspects of apparel like colors, or other details. Think of how outdated bell-bottom pants looked in the 80s and 90s, when we were all wearing stovepipe or straight jeans, they just looked old and out of style regardless of how they were styled then. We have more flexibility now, but not that much. If we were wearing an outfit in 2020 or 2025, it’s time to find a new look.

The side by side comparison is an awesome idea! Keep it going.
Thanks! Will do!
Love videos with "before" and "after" examples! Sometimes you can't tell what's wrong until you see a better version. Love the belted trench and the sweater vest!❤

Great video showing side by side outfits and how to make them better.
Thank you!
That’s the first denim on denim look I’ve actually liked!
Wow, that's great! Thank you!
Such classy style! Loved this and as someone already said, until you see the side by side, it's then you can see the difference!
Thank you so much!
Best real life outfits utube video ever. All ages. Universal
Oh, thank you so much! I really appreciate that!

Great outfits. None of the "before" are awful, but the "after" looks are so much better.
I'm so glad you think so! Thank you!
Thought the faux leather Shacket looked good! However, did prefer the new version with the defined waist.
That shacket is fun! I will have to try it with some other things! Thanks!
Great premise for a video tutorial! Wondering about socks and different shoes. In Canada, socks are a must! Would you consider doing a video on sock trends?
Thank you stay blessed
You are so welcome and you too!
The denim on denim is really working for you here!
Thank you! I really liked it!
This is my favorite kind of videos that you make. Kudos.

I love this type of video, where you compare looks. I'm loving the denim on denim look these days! ❤
Glad you like them! Thank you. Me too!
Absolutely love my sweater vests.

Really like this style video
Thank you!
I like denim on denim and vest with blouse tucked in were my favorites
Great! Thank you!
Love denim on denim
Me too!
Everything looked great on you. Before and after. Would these work for and older person with a different body type?
I definitely think they would!
I just bought that at old navy. Now I need a slim beige belt.
Look on Amazon. They have some great belts!
thank god someone with curly hair!!
Lol! 😂
This video was great!!!!! I am now getting excited about fall.
Yay! Thank you!
I did enjoy this video. Thank you. I would imagine you could have belted the first Shackett with a non-matching belt too.
Yes, you are right and I may have to try that! Maybe a leopard print one!
Love the before and after. I am loving the longer and natural or wider leg look. I have long skinny legs and could never find pants long enough when I was growing up, skinny and slim legs take me back to bad memories
I never wear leggings!😂. Glad we now have more choices that can make us all happy! 11:15
Thank you for sharing! I hope you can find pants long enough now! ❤️
Love the side by side. HATE all cropped pants!!! I am tall and have tried to avoid too short pants for decades. NO CROPPED!!!!!
Thank for sharing!
Jamie do you work in the fashion industry? If not you missed your calling.Well done video ❤
Actually I spent 20+ years in the fashion industry! Thank you so much! That's the best compliment! ❤️
@YourGuideToStyle I am 61 years old. I stayed fit my entire life. I still have a 25inch waist. It can be hard at my age shopping in the younger section. You help me take the trends of the younger gals and make them sophisticated for my age. Thanks so very much for the time you put into your channel.
I like the jean on jean look!
Wow, thank you so much! I'm so happy to help!

Nice outfits

I had to have that denim shirt!😅
It's a good one! The link is in the comments for you!

The last outfit was perfect, once you untucked it! It gave more interest imo. I loved the video!
Great, I'm glad you thought so! Thank so much!
😂😂😂😂😂🎉thx 😊
Welcome!
I would roll up the sleeves on Look #3.
Yes, that would be good! Thanks!
I preferred the skinny Jean look. Also you should wear a top that shows a waistline.
Thank you for the tip!
You could take your garment to a seamstress to shorten the dress into a shirt.
Hi there! I don't think there is a magic formula except to maybe stick to the 3 color rule if your wearing colors that aren't neutral. I like the format of the video.
The proposed shoes in No2 make no sense in autumn, when naked ankles are getting cold and I think the ballet flats also shorten the legs in this combination. I wish you had replaced the top of the outfit instead.
Fair enough. Thank you for sharing!
Jean jackets will never go out of style for me!
Yes, I love all of mine as well!
You can wear your low shaft boots with wide leg or boot. No one needs to know they are low shaft😊
Of course! Since they are covered! 👍 Thanks for sharing!
I have never liked shackets, trenches are much better. The first cropped denim with the boots look odd, completely agree.
Thank you!
I've been wearing jeans with chambray shirts for years
That's great!
Cropped jeans IMO are not a look I’d ever try.
I just can't get used to shorter jeans I'm old hippy lol
When you had the striped sweater on, I liked it better with the skinny jeans. You have great style and I love your videos❤
Oh nice! Thank you so much!
We used to secretly giggle at my Mother in Law wearing denim on denim. That's all I can think of when I see it! Not sure I can jump on that bandwagon.
Lol, I totally get that!

Jamie, I’ve heard tall boots are back in style. I prefer to wear pants over dresses/skirts-what’s the new way to wear pants and knee high boots?
They are back in style and they are pairing them with midi and maxi skirts and dresses. I have also seen them with tights and shorts! I haven't seen them paired with many pants or jeans. Really the only pant style that looks good with knee high boots is skinny legs and I will still wear them with mine at times.

Some cute outfits, but it would be helpful to maybe give modifications for us curvy girls with hips, boobs, thighs or other issues.
Thank for the tip!
Not liking the vest but I did like the others
Thanks!
I wouldn’t wear skinny jeans, except if tucked into knee-high boots for a muddy walk, etc, but leggings or riding pants are more comfortable and work even better for that purpose. You are so right on that. I think it's important to today to the new silhouettes.
I want the dog in the chair.....
It's a fun pillow isn't it! I linked it and it's from Walmart!
Shackets are so frumpy. I'm sorry it's shapeless , heavy on the body and difficult to style. A belt is better

I really don’t like raw hem jeans.
Wide leg cropped jeans look strange…would never west them.
Love wide leg jeans-not cropped.
I’m short at 5’4 and don’t feel classy in cropped jeans.
I'm the same. I will wear them but they are not my favorite.
I dont like the cropped leg jeans. I'm 5'1 and they don't look right
Ya, they are not my favorite either.
"shaft"?
That's the top part of the boot that is around your leg.
Hard no to the cropped wide leg pants…and the barrel jeans…not my jam.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I honestly do not like the cropped wide legs jeans in outfit 2. They shorten your legs. Not my style with either the loafer or the boot
Thanks for sharing!
Cropped jeans or more commonly known as high water pants, makes your legs look short. Not a good look.
Thanks for the tip!
dunno...I think I like the skinny jeans looks better...
Cropped jeans are too awkward looking for me.

Love denim on denim
Yes, me too! Thank you!
