Or even have 2 or 3 body styles and show how each should adjust the same outfit to suit them. Outfits such as T-shirt, jacket and jeans or shirt dress or skirt and top.
Even your gorgeous kitty is stylish and rocking the neutral vibe! Thanks so much for your videos - they’re so practical and inspiring and I love the way you encourage sustainability and “shopping our closet” rather than buying yet more stuff. ❤
Cats are totally hilarious 😂 I had a huge ginger boy many years ago, and every time we had visitors he would do exactly what Apollo was doing...always facing the visitors 🙄 Fabulous video Alyssa. Thank you ❤
Alyssa, I love your comparison videos. Your detailed explanations and the side by side visuals are instructional, plus they're lots of fun. And, to ease your mind... No apologies are necessary. We can freely choose to appear taller, shorter, thinner, heavier, in or out of balance, wear whatever syles and colors we prefer. We each have our own standand of beauty. You have always guided us down the paths to get to our desired destinations. The most important 'body considerations' to be concerned with are good health choices... Which, happily, also reap universal beauty rewards. We appreciate your wisdom, Alyssa. Thank you!
Love this video, I was working with some low cut jeans today and after trying different tops with various proportions, I realised I just don’t like low cut jeans anymore !!!! So they have been added to my donation pile, it was so nice to finally realise that and to stop trying to make them work in my closet :)
the side by sides really show the difference, thank you. that shirt tuck of one side in one side hanging in front is the stupidest thing ever and I hope I never see it again. glad you changed it.
This video was very helpful! I used to think that I just needed a whole new wardrobe and style overhaul. It’s interesting that small tweaks make a big difference! Now I understand better that it’s more about proportions, and essence, and harmony, and telling your unique story. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the example of tucking the slacks in/out of the boots. Blending footwear into the 3 adjective formula really has a big impact on styling everything else.
Thank you Alyssa! I love your perspective on proportions and flattering your figure, I am 5’3 and very short waisted, short legs, busty and fairly broad shoulders and I find it difficult to flatter every single area all the time with every outfit…Choosing where I want the eye to be drawn is perfect! ❤😊 And your kitty is adorable, I had a cat just like him but unfortunately he crossed the rainbow last year 😢 (I have a dog now though and he is wonderful❤)
You have a great channel! As a young beautiful woman, your probable 40 year age difference .from me causes me to adjust some things, but your classic style on 80% of your looks still give me ideas to use. Thank you!
I am Canadian, living in NZ but spent 3.5 years in Europe. Loved Italy. I am currently using fashion to help me learn to live with chronic debilitating back pain. I had a woman say today I could be from Milano. yep. Rockin it at age 62. Love your work
Romantic softness is the best way to describe the essence every item in my wardrobe carries. I actually didn't have the words for it for years, but all of my clothes and accessories carry that even before I could conceptualize it...
Nicely done love it! I have belts but never wear them because they slip and although my waist goes in a little it seems wide to me. I’m a size 8 but stil… U show how much they can add will have to give this a try.
I always watch your latest video twice, as they are so good. I have a gold skirt, similar to yours, but have never worn it. Love it but it is very hard to remove creases, even when steamed. I'm putting your ideas into play! Thank you x.
Question about white button down shirts: Do you have tips for selecting the right fit/size? I feel like if I get the small, it looks uptight and too rigid, but if I go to the medium, the arm holes are really close to the waist of my jeans if I tuck it in, and the shoulders are too wide and can look sloppy. Any suggestions? Are there particular brands or fabrics you like? Your blouses always look so crisp and polished.
Love watching your vibe, I mised my Aliyssa that came with the smartest Style ideas that, after some old travels U made this last 3 years I learned your Style advises that you help me learn to dare without feeling guilty, to ty it wearing something to purchase in the store, next door, and walk back home. It works, wile you see yourself reflection from doors next home. At least you nade it
Proportion … so funny this video is about this topic. I realized my best pant length is cropped. I am 5’ 4”, short waisted, longer legs. The crop gives me some balance and just like you mentioned, I too am not trying to look “thin” just proportioned and neat. I like things to look like they are the right fit and combination. Straight jeans are good but they are best if they are cropped. A boot leg also works but with my shape but I tend to like it more with a specific shoe, something with a slight heel and slight point to the toe shape. Developing my wardrobe has taken sooooooo… many turns. Understanding brand fit, proportion, fabrics…so many things and how to put it all together is a true investment in self. This is why I continue to create the best looks for myself. Thank you so much for your clear explanations of all of these details, your videos really help me as I continue to enhance my wardrobe. 😊🧥👚👖❤
This is great - I appreciate that you are having fun with this!…people have always stared at me in public to the point of making me uncomfortable but it wasn’t until lately, When my husband said ‘of course they do - you are a stunning & well put together woman’ that I really took in the fact that truly not everyone is. What a wonderful service you are providing. Your ratio segment made me laugh bc the 2 looks resemble me earlier this week going shoe shopping - before and after! Hahaha all the bowing and scraping ended up w pants half tucked into my boots, shirt half tucked and hair down. Walking in to the shoe store I was invisible - running errands afterward, totally tossled - you would’ve thought I was on the catwalk. So weird and great insight by you!!😂😂😂
I love the jeans you're wearing in the last example!! May I ask what brand they are? I'm still trying to work out my 3 word list (I might have a couple more to start off with... 🤭). I'd heard you use the word "jeuje" many times in various videos and so felt inspired to use it as a description of one of my words but I had to look it up because I had no idea how to spell it 😃 It can apparently be spelt many different ways. The more "official" version seems to be "zhuzh" so maybe I'll stick with that? Thanks for teaching me a new word anyway 🤓🌺
Great video! I especially loved the side by side comparison. And I loved that skirt on you! I felt the black pants looked way to big on you so I wasn't a fan of that outfit or the oversized denim jacket but appreciate the concepts you were showing.
Using these 3 word descriptors have helped me so much with my wardrobe and shopping. I do like many things, but when I take a moment to think about it, it wouldn't really match my vibe. I could probably make it work, but it wouldn't look as effortless as I would like it to be.
Excellent lesson... thank you for your comprehensive videos, it really shows that you love what you do AND you are very skilled . Those jeans in the last look are awesome ... where are they from?
Apollo!!!! Bahahaha... And so sorry about your personal trials and tribulations, darling Alyssa. Just caught up on your newsletters and somehow I had missed your January announcement last year. Sending hugs!
Thanks for the video! I have a long torso, short-ish legs in relation, and somewhat wider shoulders and narrow hips. I am 1.72 tall. Funny, that I never thought your legs were short in relation to your torso, also never saw that your shoulders are wide in relation to your hip! So, either I have a distorted view, or/and you are really very good at styling, or/and you are very good at hiding it with camera angles😅in any case: your body is perfect, love the style, and maybe I find it helpful BECAUSE our bodies are somewhat similar-ish after all😊
I love how you’ve added “bombshell” to the mix. It adds that je ne sais quoi. This optional fourth word actually makes me think of Samin Nosrat - you had the “salt, acid, and fat”. Now you’ve added the “heat”!
I would have also change your boots with the long skirt a more pointy toes and/or dainty style of shoes would have help creating balance with the “heavy” sweater.
I always love your videos especially when you deal with proportions. I have the same body type as you so it really helps. My mom was 4 ft 10 and dad was 6 ft 1. Everyone always joked I got my moms legs and dads torso. My sister was the opposite…it took me a LONG time to learn how to dress for my figure and aim still learning. That gray sweater really was DIFFERENT after jeujjing!
Great video, but please do not apologize for having fun with styling. We all make choices of how we want to appear- you are offering options and we can pick. That's all
Hi I love watching all your UA-cam and would love to join in a virtual shop your closet but I see its in US funds and with the exchange its hard as I live in Toronto . Wish it was in Canadian
Lovely video! 🙂 For even more fun learning about silhouette, proportion, etc., I recommend checking out Elyssa’s channel about the yin-yang methodology (sometimes known as Kibbe typing) as it really goes deep about the small things like line, fabric, structure, etc. that can add that “chef’s kiss” to an outfit depending on your body’s unique blend of typically yin and yang features. 🙂 I find it really interesting that many of the recommendations in this video 100% (and out there at the moment) really vibe with my flamboyant gamine body (horizontal lines, exposed wrists, high contrast, etc.) but look a bit “off” on my gorgeous Classic sister. 😄 And of course break all the rules we want and take any system/analysis/structure/personal words/etc. as merely something to consider on the fashion journey. 😊
I also just remembered Audrey Coyne did a video a while ago asking several women, who do professional yin-Yang body analysis, to complete an analysis on her and recommend outfits based on her natural “balance.” It was fascinating! Just in case you want an interesting watch and want to mix it up from the “3 words” content. 😊
Sometimes I want to wear dresses with an elastic waist or a tie belt. The problem is I'm 5'9" and these types of dresses end up with the actual waistband under or almost under my boobs. What types of dresses would you recommend for someone with a long toros? I'm so frustrated!
I like the look of pushing up your sleeves on a jacket to show more skin, but how do you keep them up. Before I hit the front door they are already falling down. Same with a shirt that has the more relaxed rolled back cuff and pushed up. Any help would be appreciated.
yes! You can use used elastics so they dont cut off your circulation OR if it's a a thicker material I usually roll and then flip the roll inwards to stay
Good morning lovely Alyssa, the very oversize denim jacket and the printed jacket (or any other large prints) don't seem very you, the printed items make you look so much older too, maybe time to replace them? And you DO have lovely slim long legs, how can you possibly think your legs are short? Your torso seems perfectly balanced too, maybe someone once told you your torso was long and your legs short, and it stuck?! My mother used to say my shoulders were very narrow, well, age 57 I took a good look in front of the mirror recently and realised they're a normal size after all lol
Your content…well-thought out, never gimmicky, just refreshing. Thank you. ✨
that is so kind thank you!
Yes totally agree - very talented
Thank you Alyssa!
Would you ever consider a series where you dress different body types in different styles?
I volunteer as tribute 🎉
Or even have 2 or 3 body styles and show how each should adjust the same outfit to suit them. Outfits such as T-shirt, jacket and jeans or shirt dress or skirt and top.
There definitely would be something wrong with me wearing the black sweater at my hip.
I would love to do this ... will try and think of something .. we do something similar in my shop your closet events ...
@@AlyssaBeltempo I look forward to it
Even your gorgeous kitty is stylish and rocking the neutral vibe!
Thanks so much for your videos - they’re so practical and inspiring and I love the way you encourage sustainability and “shopping our closet” rather than buying yet more stuff. ❤
haha he got the memo
It's so eye-opening to see how a look changes by just applying a tweak or technique. Thanks.
so glad!
Cats are totally hilarious 😂 I had a huge ginger boy many years ago, and every time we had visitors he would do exactly what Apollo was doing...always facing the visitors 🙄
Fabulous video Alyssa. Thank you ❤
awww so funny thank you for sharing!
I’m glad you change the shirt to a full front tuck. Definitely think you’re right with just changing the sleeve roll making a difference.
Thanks

Oooh that's a great learning!
Hi! I've realized I don't love 3/4 sleeves. I have a lot of 3/4 sleeves and now I know why I stare into it thinking I have nothing to wear.
Great fixes! Apollo doing what cats do best - owning the screen.
He always makes a brilliant contribution.
10000%
The befores and afters and how that it's done...so helpful!
glad that was helpful!
Great advice showing how those little styling tweaks make all the difference 💜
the side by sides really show the difference, thank you. that shirt tuck of one side in one side hanging in front is the stupidest thing ever and I hope I never see it again. glad you changed it.
You are such a great inspiration, thank you Alyssa! Happy Sunday🤍
Too kind!! Thank you! xo

Little tweaks , huge difference. Thank you for teaching me. 👍🏼
Such a clever approach to styling --thank you! The comparisons really help :)
Great tips!
You’re the best, nobody is better able to give words to what works and why than you! Thanks Alyssa ❤
Nicely done love it! I have belts but never wear them because they slip and although my waist goes in a little it seems wide to me. I’m a size 8 but stil… U show how much they can add will have to give this a try.
I find that 3 word guide really helpful even for my art! Playful, whimsical, bright for my creations. Thanks darling Alyssa!
wonderful!
I LOVE this perspective! IIt meshes well since I am a moody dresser. Thanks for the styling tips, too!
I always watch your latest video twice, as they are so good. I have a gold skirt, similar to yours, but have never worn it. Love it but it is very hard to remove creases, even when steamed. I'm putting your ideas into play! Thank you x.

This was great! When my outfit is off, it is usually the proportions. Style of pant with the height and type of shoe, too.

Great recap of important styling points!!
Great points and outfits in this video! Apollo also looks fab!
My favorite of your videos so far! Thank you so much!
very good tips! thank you!
Wow! You made this look so easy! I’m totally trying it. New sub here. Found you in my feed searching for loafers lol. And your cat 😂😂😂
Thanks so much Alyssa 🤩I got so much from this!!🙏
Really liked this - I often feel "off" like I'm half way there, and these tips take me all the way to add interest to the eye. Thanks
Your Siamese kitten has grown so much since the last time I checked in here! Glad to see he/she is thriving.
Very helpful! I learn so much from you!
Very classy jeujjing - you look fabulous!

Great and useful video!
As always, excellent commentary😊
I love the jeans you're wearing in the last example!! May I ask what brand they are?

haha I will use that spelling from now on!
lol love the “opening”per say 😂
I love the satin skirt with the denim jacket!
Loved this! Helps so much with styling wardrobe.
So glad!
So good, thank you!
Your suggestions are great. It makes you look at your outfits in a new way.

I love ur style vibe;) You make it fun 🎉
A MA ZING
Such easy no cost fixes to change an outfit drastically
I love your videos thank you
So glad I found you a few weeks ago. Love your content ❤
I like the first look the best. Just changing those few things made such a difference. Thanks for your styling tips.
Using these 3 word descriptors have helped me so much with my wardrobe and shopping. I do like many things, but when I take a moment to think about it, it wouldn't really match my vibe. I could probably make it work, but it wouldn't look as effortless as I would like it to be.

Those jeans in the last look are awesome ... where are they from?
they're vintage Banana Republic!
Well done. Love your channel.❤
Great tips. It’s just everything’s become so tight after the holidays….
Very helpful, thanks!
Thank you. Very helpful. Your cat is awesome also. Where do you get your brown belt with the oval buckle? It is very beautiful.
It is @braveleather!
Brilliant.
Apollo!!!! Bahahaha... And so sorry about your personal trials and tribulations, darling Alyssa. Just caught up on your newsletters and somehow I had missed your January announcement last year. Sending hugs!
Thank you!
❤laughed so hard with you. Thanks
This is so helpful to see your thought process. ❤
Great! But how do I keep my skirt like that from clinging to me? I tried hairspray and aluminum foil.
Thanks for the video! I have a long torso, short-ish legs in relation, and somewhat wider shoulders and narrow hips. I am 1.72 tall. Thank you for sharing with us you are so inspirational and sweet and love your videos also love your cat
You are great! And we sort of look alike which is helping this all click better 😊 thanks and subbed!
Nice video! Love your blue sweater, it is "your" perfect blue color IMO
This might be a dumb question but how do you keep your belt in place with that skirt?
Very helpful hints. ❤❤
The denim jacket commentary reminds me of Amy Smilovic’s (Tibi) principle of big-thin-skin. ❤ Love it!
yes! She is an inspriation!
I love how you’ve added “bombshell” to the mix. It adds that je ne sais quoi.
This optional fourth word actually makes me think of Samin Nosrat - you had the “salt, acid, and fat”. Now you’ve added the “heat”!
oooh love that analogy!

Beautiful cat❤
Who makes the oversized Jean jacket?
Another great video!
Love your tips. Thank you. What is a convertible backpack? Curious.
it is a bag that converts from a shoulder bag to a backpack
Cool! Would love to learn more. Link isn’t working.
oh no! Which link?! Membership or event?
Idk but that first one went from classic to goofy 😂
Great tips!
Love the fur baby....❤

Such a great video, just too short….. can we have another with more ideas for basic outfits. Thank you
Greqt tips totally make sense. Are you an inverted triangle.body shape?
