To me, this is the best Contra EVER. Aggressive and complex Prog Metal music in 8 bits, terrifying Lovecraftian bosses, overall atmosphere and stage design, all of these things and more blend together so well it creates quite a horror game with action elements. And it fascinates me.
yeah it was amazing childhood when i was kid level 3 was something amazing bc when i was kid i not have it skills to swim and for that i like in this level have water now when im big i swim but im noob in swiming :D for that i love level 3 for the water it was cool and the music and the forest how she is created i still remember how much happy i was in that level dam this game was amazing and when iwas kid i say to myself i wanna see the new pc games in the future maybe they will be come more realistic and thats happend but now i wanna back in time i think now the old games in 90 s was more good then the games now the games now sucks for that im proud im 90 kid too real im born 93 but yeah is still in 90s for that was amazing old years i wanna backk dam it i need a time machine :D

I introduced my little brother to this game a couple years ago, which of course initially resulted in a lot of Game Overs since he was a beginner and since 2-player mode is quite tricky to adapt to, and the first time we got a Game Over his reaction was "...one more time!", and then he had that reaction like 7-8 times until we got the hang of it, and we finished the game a couple hours later. I honestly kind of expected it to turn out that way, because this game just is that awesome.
Spread (S) is great especially when paired up with R (Rapid) but the laser does more damage especially in close proximity to an enemy. L paired up with an R for a boss fight would be ideal because it causes the most damage the quickest.
why? 10:59 that is what happened!! +chuckobscure no they aren't both powerful or better for boss fights. S hits more area (since most bosses are fucking huge) dealing as much damage or even more damage than L or F. S definitely kills a lot more if there are multiple enemies.
Zylo Thecat It's not that they're more powerful, but they get more hits in due to their rapid fire nature, plus there's less delay. If you play the game in an emulator in slow motion you'll see what I mean.

I remember when I was a kid I rented this game every weekend for a year, and my mom got so tired of me wasting my money on renting it, she bought it for me just so I'd stop spending my allowance on the rental. I do realize I was stupid for just not saving my money and buying it, but I was 10.

So in level seven you’re walking around what looks like the intestines of the alien because most of the platforms have what looks like blood vessels and the boss of level seven is a humanoid skeleton which is basically hiding in the bottom of the alien? And then beyond the bottom of the alien the level eight is the brain of the alien
So much influence by the Alien Franchise on this game. And the final boss in the game probably inspired "experiment on Shaw" by David from Alien Covenant.

I turned to 28 now and i started gaming at 15.....started with Duck hunt,ended with god of war 3rd....i WS totally obsessed with that.....when i was a kid it always fascinated me and i had Alwz lived in a fantasy world....bcoz of that nowdays the real world where i live, it become little bit harder for me....but i know i am a gamer and i will clear this boss stages of my life....90's kid never give up👊

Shoots your bullets faster
R for Rapidfire.. coz yeah you use newer nes controller with TURBO keys.. First version controller don't have that keys.

You fire faster, even with the turbo controller.
The bullet speed is increased. Sadly the R buff can be lost only changing the weapon.

Can't recall exactly but according to Speed Demos Archive, getting the spread shot actually increases the health of bosses.
Rambo and Commando kicking ass. this should have been a popular 80s action film!
