I've always wondered why Medicaid & Medicare don't cover move preventative things so people aren't as sick and I think that the government wants you to be sick. The sicker you are, the more money hospitals and pharmacy companies make (even if it's at the expense of the government....we all know the government doesn't really care about saving money). I think the government and the medical industry are tied together and they work to help each other.

I went on a strict all meat, animal fat diet called the carnivore diet or zero carb, zero sugar diet for the last 3 years. First thing that happened was, I completely reversed my type 2 diabetes. I have lost a lot of weight. My muscles, bones and joints are much stronger. I have reversed my gum disease. My dentist says I no longer am getting any cavities and I have no plaque when I go in for cleanings. I had heart problems and palpitations and even all of that is reversing. I used to take lots of medications and now I no longer need any of them.

Ye but the health issues you'll have later on isnt worth it.
I am on a plant based diet and ate lots of sugar and carbs most my life.
Always had good teeth, no holes. My health is good. Do regular bloods.
It's about good oral hygiene and for some genetics too.
I ate loads of sugar since childhood but I was good and thoroughly brushing my teeth. Especially before bed.
Wish people would stop promoting unhealthy diets that are now causing people to have health issues. So many out there adding veggies back.
We are omnivores not carnivores. Most of our foods should be plants. Sadly human cultivated plants aren't as healthy as they once were.

This was so phenomenal. Thank you so much for sharing this!! My father was 42 and had a heart attack that had led to open heart surgery and had a 5 bypass! Guess what he also had by the time he was 42?!? A entirely full set of dentures! Nobody ever wants connected any of that or ever told him because of his teeth and gum issue he should be careful and take care of his heart and cardiovascular health. This is all something that was never told to him or the family or there was a connection at all. Thank the Lord Jesus that my father is alive and well today at 72!! His recent angiogram showed that his 5 bypasses had failed over the last 20 years and somehow his heart grew a new ventricle system or something they said! We believe this is due to his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, a peaceful heart through that and prayer and fasting, as well as quality diet, oral hygiene, and his excellent wife who cares for his needs through preventative care and lots of vitamins and supplements and heavy fish oil rich foods! ❤ What year teaching needs to be taught to all those people who are receiving denture care as well as heart surgeries etc there needs to be a great deal of education in this area!

I wanted to add several things that helped my oral health. When I was younger my dental health was terrible and ai am sure it contributed to my CVD. My oral hygienist gave me a tongue scraper. This helped renew good bacteria along with cutting out sugar. Another thing which ai believe vastly improved my teeth is vitamin K2 along with magnesium and D3. I get my teeth cleaned 4 times a year and my dental heath is the best it has ever been. I also believe that my oral health has helped stabilize and improve my CVD.

Good principle. However -- a dentist who saved three lives that I know of personally enraged the medical fraternity in Colorado by testing his patients for mercury toxicity, and when they tested high, replaced their mercury amalgam filling with quartz composite fillings. The MDs filed suit against him for practicing medicine without a license. He lost his dental license, and moved his practice to Mexico. If the accursed medical practitioners had done THEIR jobs and tested patients for toxic levels of mercury, instead of telling them their symptoms were all in their heads, there wouldn't have been the problem for anybody. Patients would not have to suffer so long.

I'm 75 years old and last year my dental hygienist aggressively attacked the tartar that I barely had. It was so aggressive that I believe she stripped lots of enamel at the roots and now I HAVE TARTAR that my stripped enamel accumulates. This is awful. There are more stories that I could write. When I was a kid, we used to say "mentir comme un arracheur de dents" (lying like a tooth puller) and boy did I meet lots of liars in the dental industry. Watch out, we have many many bad dentists now, not like in the old days.

I have had a buildup of tartar and dental caries since my late teens and at this point I tend to get really annoyed by hygienists, dentist’s and periodontists that harp on flossing, brushing and mouthwash regimens rather than acknowledging the real cause of the problems. The fluoride in water conspiracy is also concerning and I am glad you related that it should only be done topically without swallowing the fluoride.

His first exam was begun with him looking in my mouth, saying, "Ok, we need to begin here, with these amalgam fillings and oral health!"
I didn't have the cash to proceed at that time, was with a sliding income dental patient....it's a feeling of helplessness. Also I feel my nervousness and moods are affected by mercury for all I know.
I inherited some money since then, and need to seek better care. I've heard there's good, affordable dental clinics in Mexico.

@@PrevMedHealthyou are amazing I have fought my teeth for decades My mom and dad both had science degrees. We lived in Colorado then. Dad taught on the Ute Reservation. They met while serving during WWII. Mom was Navy WAVE Officer. She attained the highest rank a female could at the time. She was a Lt JG (Junior Grade) Dad was a Marine. Mom outranked hin so he had to salute her BEFORE they married. They homesteaded in Alaska in 1947. My oldest sister was born in 1949 while Alaska was still a territory Anyway one drizzling cold day in Ignacio CO Dad decided he was bored. He amalgamated gold out of ore with mercury. This was 1958 before much was known about mercury ir mercury poisoning. Mom was 12 weeks pregnant with me. Dad really suffered and burned his airways. The mercury was so thick it had adherence to the aluminum strip that used to be around tables of the day. He lost all of his teeth and mom also being highly exposed lost many of hers. My enamel was always very thin due to teeth buds forming at about 12 weeks invitro I never could chew ice (I know big no no anyway 😂) Had impacted k-9 tooth that had to have a braces bracket attached to pull it down slowly After 4 years of braces I finally had a beautiful smile. Of course almagum fillings on almost all adult back teeth things seemed great. Until 1 filling broke then another then another. I know my current health is completely 100% related to my tooth loss. Can't afford the surgery required to go scrap bones and if I even have enough bone left it's horrifyingly embarrassing and too costly for being on disability. Degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, reversed curvature of cervical spine pressing on spinal cord to name a few. Your man above says the carnivore diet has his gums regrowing and plenty of its adherents will attest the same. One good thing it does is cut out sugars and carbs which cause such metabolic chaos and are the cause of many modern illnesses. I am 78 years old. I always went to the dentist every six months when my dentist would scrape the plaque off my teeth and deep clean my bleeding gums. All this in spite of brushing my teeth after every meal. All this changed when I became a vegetarian 12 years ago and bought a water pic (I add a few squirts of hydrogen peroxide to the water). Now I only brush a couple times a week and go to the dentist annually. My dentist says there is nothing to do! I am convinced that my biggest problem was the little pieces of animal protein imbedded in my teeth and gums that drew hostile bacteria. I rarely flossed. So I guess the moral of the story is "if you don't floss, get a water pic". But I am also sure that not chewing on tough meat is a big deal as well. Fortunately I still have most of my teeth and plan on keeping them for the next 20 years.

I have a round double sided shaving mirror one side of which is a magnifying mirror. I find I can use this in a good light to spot tartar on my teeth which I work on removing using my mini Gerber penknife . When it’s there it’s mostly on the back of the front bottom teeth but if it’s on the front near the gum you have to be very careful when working away at it not to make the gum bleed. Sometimes if you push a thinner kitchen knife through these teeth you can dislodge chunks of tartar at the back which is very satisfying. Some years ago whilst at the dentist I had my teeth scrubbed and noticed afterwards that it had made no difference to the feel of my teeth whereas the previous one had seemed to make a terrific difference and seemed money well spent. This is proof to me that what I’m doing to clean my teeth is working and that regular visits the dentist are no longer necessary.

After 3 or 4 goes I left it & couldn't be bothered getting it filled. Suffice to say the massive hole always gets full of food, which is a hassle if I don't have a tooth pick. Occasionally I've had to go all day with food stuffed in that cavity, it's frickin annoying.
Well, after years of this it eventually got infected. The dentist took X-Rays and showed me the black line of infection running into the gum, it was very painful. He suggested tooth extraction or root canal.

What a fantastic video! Thanks for having Doug on Dr.Brewer. It was nice to hear him mention Ellie Philips and her book _Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye_ since I'm a big fan of hers. Using her regimen of gum and tooth care (The System) for just over 6 months now, my teeth and gums look and feel much better than previously, when I was diagnosed with gingivitis and early periodontitis.

Just a thought here. Could it be that plaque and tartar and general degeneration in the mouth is not causing anything per se, but is more of a manifestation of a larger underlying metabolic problem? They say dysbiosis in the mouth can cause cancer but could it actually be that cancer and dysbiosis in the mouth are two manifestations of the same cause? Much like diabetes and cancer or Alzheimer’s could be two (or 3) manifestations of the same cause. I rarely hear this mentioned as a possibility.

12 minutes?! Not worth it. My grandpa lived to 88 years old with a mouth full of dead teeth, diabetes, heart failure, kidney failure. All of those conditions started from him eating like a 5 year old without discipline. Diabetes and not drinking water accelerated the kidney failure, then the heart failure shortly after. Dead teeth were from never brushing his teeth and eating too much sugar. He only made one adjustment after almost dying, avoiding sugar. He lived 23 more years after almost dying from kidney failure and reversed his type 2 diabetes from simply avoiding refined sugar food products.

Not just limited to heart disease. I was DX'ed with RA in 2018 and cured it by first having an Oral DNA test done which showed super high values of a pathogen called P. Gingivalis, which has been known to cause RA. I then did these very invasive dental procedures - called root-planing and scaling - and within 2 months my symptoms were gone and have not returned. I've also seriously upped my dental maintenance to 4 times a year as well as at-home care with water flosser and oral probiotics. My last RA test came back "undectable".

The problem is the bad bacteria are always present no matter what you eat. It is the good bactria and a low glycemic diet that keeps the bad bacteria in check but they never go away. So you cant eliminate them just try to keep them in check.
I think its the combination of bad bacteria attacking high stress areas of arteries that causes the damage cholesterol habitually tries to repair creating plaque.
