My grandmothers lived to 101 and 104. They lived in a little village in Greece eating fresh fruit and vegetables meat chicken eggs from their own land. They fasted often walked everywhere and were never overweight. Up at sunrise and bed early. I am going to change my ways because I’m 70 and I feel dreadful.
I think the key factor here is the stipulation “ from their own land”. I believe our food system in America is toxic from the pesticide Glyphosate. The meat is loaded with hormones and antibiotics. Unless we eat organic produce and very clean meat, egg, dairy sources, our goose is cooked. Needless to say my food bill is astronomical , but I have no choice. I still don’t feel that great, but Im a lot better than I was. I eat only whole grains ( no flour so blood sugar doesn’t go crazy)and low meat . Im 65 and walk everyday too. All we can do is try. Good luck and God bless.
I’m a 66 year old female. I have been on keto for 9 months. Lost 50 lbs and no longer need bp meds. No longer pre diabetic but my ldl skyrocketed. Doc wants me on statins. Refused. Sent me to cardiologist. Did bp monitoring, holter monitor and echocardiogram along with echo stress test. Everything perfect. So sent me for CAC score. It was 7.7. Wants me in statins. Refused. Then he prescribed another med. refused.
This is why I stay away from Drs unless absolutely needed. Sounds like you get it too. You are taking responsibility and making good educated decisions on your health! Keep it up and never let a Dr bully you. I love your story
My Dr had me on 5 different medications and wanted to put me on another I told her save your prescription pad for someone else I'm done with pills if I have to live on all of these pills I'd rather die. I told her pills don't cure anything all they do is mask the problem. She was surprised and asked me not even the cholesterol pill and I said no. I told her we're eating healthy and walking I'm doing everything I can no pills needed she told me I wish more of my patients were like you, that's been 20 years ago and we've never been healthier. I make tinctures and teas for immunity and haven't had any illness since. I will always go to natural remedies not man made pills. God's garden is the best.🙏❤️🙏
There is one organ in our body that we neglected when it comes to health. Our gallbladder. There are certain nutrients that it needs to function optimally. It produces bile that helps to the digestive system to break down fat from our diet. Proper function of the gallbladder can help with stable cholesterol according to of scientific research
I had a CT scan (CIMT) 5 years ago when I turned 70. My LDL was >250, and i thought i was headed for disaster. I thought the only good CT scan score was zero! Then my cardiologist, told me the range is 0-400. You’re fine. Then I found out i was prediabetic! A good friend pointed my to modified keto, intermittent fasting and HIIT. Now five years later, i had another CT scan, it’s still 70! My HDL is 55, triglyceride 90, LDL still high but im 25 pounds lighter, resting heart rate 52, avg BP 120/70. I think I made the right decisions according to the above post. I will be 76 in 2 weeks, i feel great! Just spent 6 weeks in Europe on a motorcycle trek.
“The best meal is no meal” Thank you Dr Brewer for reinforcing what I knew all along. I’m remembering the times in my life I’ve felt the best physically and mentally is when fasting for an entire day or only having one meal a day.
Better still, than `no meal' - Steamed vegetables mixed with microwaved chicken soup. Practically a no-fat meal, but all the nutrients and roughage you could ask for. Add to that, all the benefits chicken soup brings to the table - especially during the winter months. Scientists still have no idea why chicken soup is so beneficial. But it's a tried and trusted, easy meal, to prepare. And it really does work for re-charging the immune system and is healthy to a fault!
Yes fasting works wonders, I've fasted twice years apart, both times I fasted for the full 40 days and nights. It is very hard for the first 5 days, after the 5th day it got easy breezy, after fasting you should break the fast by eating steamed rice, or boiled eggs, with water. If you fast for to long it can cause a stroke due to lack of nutrients to the brain. Super bad junk foods are: Doritos chips, all brands of dry packaged noodle soups such as ichi ban, and Mr. Noodle. Pizza is very bad because of all the flour in it. High in protein meats. Coke a cola. Nick named the devil's treat because coke a cola go's with any metal of any country. Beers are bad for the liver, kidneys, heart, and brain. Deep fried foods, like nuggets french fries, deep fried fish, and chicken. Ice creams, and hot dogs, and hamburgers. The better that any foods taste the more deadly it gets. It's true that fruits and vegetables are much more healthy for you, and good water filtered.😇😇😇😇
@@ArnoldLitke Oddly enough, my mom had a sister that was addicted to Coca-Cola and she drank a case everyday of glass bottled Cokes and smoked a few packs of cigarettes each day. She was not into anything nutritious, what so ever, and she died last year, at 94 and still lived alone. She was on oxygen, but very few med's, and didn't have diabetes or artery disease, but arthritis had a huge hold on her. My mom didn't touch soft drinks and ate a very nutritional diet, and walked three times a day and died at age 50 of cardiac arrhythmia, her heart quit beating in her sleep. So, I don't know... what statistics are true, but I do know God is bringing all of us home when he is ready for us, and he doesn't make mistakes. I eat what I want, when I feel like it with little regard to statistics. But, I do love veggies over every thing else. 🤗
Thank you Doc. I lost my wife to stents, bypass surgery, and tons of miss information. She was 54. I feel I am on the same path and this video may have changed it. Thank you.
I am so sorry for your loss. My husband never drank, smoked and was never overweight, was very active, however he still developed heart disease, the quadruple bypass, followed by stents revealed a new set of problems, the blood flow was then, at a higher velocity than his veins could tolerate. I lost him to congestive heart failure. For what ever reason, his veins were turning to mush and the blood pressure went berserk.
@@sherrih6375 Hi Sherri. I to, are sorry for your loss. It’s a very difficult process to go through. To watch your spouse go through this process and seeing the heartbreak, literally watch them waste away. Hope you continue to find the strength to move forward Al.
My grandma passed in 2018 at 107. She ate a typical American food diet, loved her chocolate but took vitamins and was always moving & exercising. She had a great attitude about life and loved everyone. She never drank or smoked and watched her weight. Her mind was sharp, she loved playing scrabble and playing piano.
As someone with PCOS (runs in both parents’ families), hypoglycemia and sensitivity to estradiol (mother), I have been a conundrum to the medical industry for decades! Those don’t go together! And, now going into menopause, everything I was doing to control the issues (which were working) has been turned on its head! I’ve survived at least two precancers. I give up. I’ve been working so hard for almost four decades that I’m exhausted with the treadmill we have out ourselves on. No generation before has been so messed up and worked so hard at it. I’m going to live my life and enjoy every day. Keep eating whole foods and trust that God has already numbered my days.
I'm 63 and have PCOS as well. I looked like I was underweight until puberty and then it's been a lifelong battle with weight and higher Insulin levels. I just try to eat minimal carbs and swim and walk a lot. I'm not in the insulin resistance frame but just under. It's exhausting trying to battle this disorder so I get it. I'm with you on going to live my life and enjoy. sending you hugs.
You got to keep trying cyanne pepper when cooking and olive oil on yr food after cooking. Eat spinach blend with cyanne pepper and turmeric reducing cans and cutting sugar can help intermittent fasting too up with vitamin c and try b1 vitamins
Carnivore diet with FERMENTED fruits and veggies goes a long ways. Doc is corrected, insulin resistance is the culprit. Fasting is going to relieve your symptoms however, getting exercise in is a must, especially on a fasted system. I do my 20 minutes a day on my treadmill before I eat then wait an hour before eating. I also increase and decrease my intensity . I warm up 2 minutes. Then jog for a minute, walk a minute then I increase my speed and intensity for a minute then walk etc. i end at 19 minutes going all the way down to almost where I started. Sprinting is by far the best fat burning exercise you can do. You work up to it and surprisingly it is not that difficult. It is a min set. Force yourself to test yourself SAFELY! Best wishes!
I asked my doctor about fasting. He said to forget about it and not to waste my time. I asked my cardiologist and a cardio vascular surgeon and they both told me that plaque cannot be removed. It amazes me that as doctors they don't take nutrition into consideration, knowing fully well that most diseases are caused by lifestyle choices. Surely they must know that our medicine doesn't cure anyone. Our US medicine is only to manage symptoms and nothing more. Of course it's great when it comes to emergency medical interventions, but it won't cure you of most chronic diseases. Funny thing is a vet will ask you "what are you feeding your cat/dog?'
He knows as much (for certain) as the next doctor who swears by THEIR OPINION! Just do trial n error on your own re your personal healthcare! Be your own advovate n don't rely on what 1doc says vs any other! None of them are God's!
I had to go without food due to diverticulitis. Told the doctor I would not go to the hospital. He gave me the okay, since I knew myself and the importance of not eating. (Not my first rodeo). I went home started drinking plenty of clear liquids and hot tea when I was hungry. I discovered so many things about my mind being in control. Lost 10 pounds and kept them off plus more- because I also learned that my mind should be in control not my stomach.
I surprisingly have found this to be true, for this reason. I'd notice I feel hungry. But sometimes, I was so busy, I decided just to 'wait' a bit to eat, until after I do a few tasks. Hour later, I realized the hunger had just disappeared, & if I had given in to it, I would have eaten food. This was a lesson for me. Drinking teas or coffee can help. And I like the idea mentioned in the video, of a 'sardines' fast: I think that would be the way to do it, especially since hunger could keep me awake at night or mess up my work.
This video is so pivotal , considering most doctors just prescribe their patients medications that will give you another problem. Thank you is an understatement for making this video 🙏🏾🙏🏾
@@catalinamargomyers9970 they are the problem in the sense that they're the mouthpiece for the medical establishment when a patient wants guidance and information so that they may heal. The minority of doctors who think for themselves and deep dive to figure out the root of what's going on and freely share that knowledge are amazing, but they are the minority. The larger problem is the greedy and dishonest pharmaceutical industry, their lobbyists, etc. However, since doctors are the ones so many look to for answers it is problematic when they give harmful advice.
After a near fatal car head on, in hospital for 2 months with 30 broken bones I was sent home with 15 prescriptions 2 of which he said I would need for life! I finally broke all those chains however it took 20 years to be free. I have not needed Dr's. Except for surgeons to remove the metal when possible. General physicians are drug salesmen. BEWARE
I started intermittent fasting. Not eating before about 11 am and not eating after 6 pm. (I do have a cup of coffee in the morning and sometimes a glass of wine in the evening.) I also cut out most sugary and processed items. I have been doing this for about 4 months. I do not know my numbers, but I was somewhat healthy before I started. I did have a belly, weight 157 lbs and am 5'7". I was scheduled to have a knee replacement in a few months. Now, I weigh about 140 lbs, feel great, my BP is a bit lower, my activity level is much higher, I lost my belly and feel great!! I canceled my knee surgery and am able to play pickleball every day. (I also take cod liver oil for Omega 3's) IF has been extremely beneficial to me. I do not even feel that hungry at 11 am, my body has totally adjusted.
Really appreciate this Dr's videos. I've been refusing statins for 15 years but have a-fib & am on blood thinners. Had cath lab Jan 2023. All arteries checked were normal - no blockages. Ive been using a diosmin/ hesperidin supplement for circulation & vein support as well as compression hose, both for 20 years. Both older and younger brothers as well as both late parents, had strokes. Im the only one so far, at 64, with no strokes. I have stopped the circ.& vein support supplement due to concerns of long term use. I have a 31 bmi, 250 total cholesterol, 190 ldl, and prediabetes & struggle with proper diet for 15 years. I know this is not good & am trying to correct my bad habits. My feet have been bad & can not walk for fun since 2005. Makes it hard but i am not giving up!!

Thank you for reminding me the power of water fasting. I did water fasting for 3 days in the past and it was the most challenging task but was rewarded with an aftermath amazing feeling. At the end of the fasting I felt so clean; imagine if you did not shower for many days and than you took a shower. I will try to fast on the 1st of every month and will start a 2 days water fasting. Since Jan 1st has passed, I will fast today and tomorrow to kick off my fasting. I will also clean up my diet (I love carb and my body does not handle carbs well) and will reduce and replace my carb with vegetables and meat. Most importantly, listen to your body. Everyone is built differently. By far, this is the best and no nonsense video. Much appreciated and thank you. Cheers to good health!
Mmm - all sounds a bit mystical to me. If I "listen to my body" I eat pizza, smoked sausage and sour gummies all day and never bother getting up off my backside. My recipe instead is to tell my body: "this is not negotiable: we're going to exercise and eat natural. Just do as you're told...."
The truth is that fasting is first a physical experience but ultimately a spiritual one. If you were to continue fasting it would lead to death. So when we deny the flesh for a time it brings us closer to God. That feeling you get and like is the spiritual existence within each of us. Fasting as a way of life enhances our health and awareness and senses. G-d designed fasting for good conscience and natural prevention and healing for our health, body and mind.
Conservative brahmins in south india regularly fast twice a month. Tell this doctor to include a small amount of ginger (,skin removed) in the morning diet. You wont have plaque. Lethim do the research.
My husband and I found a doctor who is a nephrologist and general practitioner. He helped my husband with correct medication for a high blood pressure which he was struggling and no one could regulate it. Any other doctor was hit or miss and gave him some of the worst blood pressure medication. We have to pay extra because he is considered a specialist and he is out of network. We eat two good healthy meals a day and hardly snack in between. Drink lots of water and herbal teas. We are in our mid sixties and apart from stress here and there we are doing very well. However it is so hard to find a doctor who doesn’t want to give all kinds of medication instead of suggesting a life style change. Our doc does. Thank you Dr. Ford for being real doc.❤
What blood pressure medicine does your husband take.? I've tried them all and am so senstive to all, but can tolerate atenolol and alternate with cardizem.
Everyone is different our bodies react to stress and medication different etc. finding this doctor who is a nephrologist was the real find being a kidney doctor makes the difference because he know how medications it affect your kidneys. My husband is on lisinopril, besylate and a diuretic chlorthalidone. Also we eat a very low sodium diet no more than 1600mg of salt. A day

Wow. Just wow! You’re the first person i have seen that had ever answered my question: When the arteries narrow can they be restored to their original size and condition ? I have read and watched videos on clearing them of plaque but nothing about if they stay narrow or increase in size. I have surmised for a long time that once cleared more blood is able to pump through stretching them out. You’re explanation of the garden hose opened up a world for me and confirmed my understanding. Also, pus causes blood clots in arteries and heart? I never knew pus caused blood clots and i never associated pus with being in or near the heart. Thank you.
The pus is the goo of plaque that leak out of compacted goo / pus, fillled arteries make their way into the blood stream causing serious affects in the body so pus is the plaque from high cholesterol Sounds so gross .
Two years ago, i was taking metformin for type 2 diabetes and my blood pressure was 154/80. Following a terrible review by my doctor, i decided to do something about it. I identified, what i considered to be, the main culprits? - I loved pasties, cheese & onion rolls, quiche (with crust) pies and, worst of all, Croissants (mmmm!) Basically, foods with a high butter content (their casings, to be more accurate) I stopped eating THE LOT!!! But i did make one consession, CRUSTLESS quiche! One year later, my diabetes nurse told me that it was in remission and my blood pressure was 120/60. It was decided that i should use up the remaining metforming prescription, and not to take anymore from therein - some 5 months (without) Another year later and i still manage my diabetes, by diet only. My blood pressure was/is, still 120/60. Take cotrol of your own health - IT DOES WORK!!! And, i love my near-vegetable diet, and all those lovely herbs and spices!!!
Butter is high in saturated fat. Portion sizes are key here. I was consuming pastries on an industrial scale. I still add small amounts of butter, to say, breads, omlettes, mushrooms etc, but only enough to add taste. Croissants (which i USE to love) are particularyly high in Trans fats, sugar and refined white flour (Carbs, if you will) High in calories too, of course!! Similarly, pasty ingredients are right up there in the fats and carbs dept. I haven't given up on pastry-based products, altogether. I just treat them as, well, treats! I would say my consumption of pastry products is 98% down on what it was, two years ago - yes, THAT MUCH!! Do i miss all those lovely, scrumptious, lamb and mint pasties, cheese and onion pasties, cheese and onion rolls? You bet i do! But having one, now and again, is never going to do you harm - whereas i once would eat two in a day. Now it's more like one in a month! As a dietician once famously said, on tv. There's only one diet, and that's a balanced one. And definately not the fad diets, promoted by celeb's - they're been paid handsomely, for such nonsense!
@@shill6449 I do realize that butter is a saturated fat, but by itself your body would and will do an excellent job of regulating the amount you consume, the same goes for protein. Dr Adkins had all this worked out in the 1970's or 80's. if you sat down at the dinner table with a big slab of butter your body would never allow you to eat much at all! put that same amount in a bat of mashed potatoes and you will consume a very large amount of fat, it is the combination of fat and carbohydrate/starch that packs on the lbs. I admire that you can manage your bread intake so masterfully, it is something I currently struggle with. and with some of the things you mention croissants should only have butter as the fat, the same as brioche and most fresh French breads and pastries, now, I am not saying butter is a health food, just not as much a villain as health nuts make it out to be. It has such a strong flavor that a little goes a long way. you didn't say how much weight you've lost.
Yes Doc! I do both Intermittent fasting daily & monthly water only fasts for no less the 3-days…. I’m 60 in great shape & no health issues at all- thank God! I eat salads, fruits, fish- no red meat, no fried foods, no processed foods & drink spring water only with chickory coffee in the AM- thanks for your very informative video!
Dr. Ford, your experience on getting rid of the plague is very interesting . I am 87 years old [born on 02-01-1937]. I always believe our body is different it is God's beautiful creation. I also believe the saying "ONE MAN'S MEAT IS ANOTHER MAN'S POISON". So no matter how step or precaution we take to preserve or lengthen our life is a myth. Our lifespan is given the day we are born. So just be happy and be contented of what we have and we can count our blessing of what the good Lord has given. God bless.

I had a lot of plaque in all my arteries as shown in multiple ultrasounds over the last 30 years. I had multiple chest X-rays that showed calcium in my aorta as well. Fast forward to a couple years ago, I went on a ketovore diet did fasting for 6 months and took high levels of raw-food sourced vitamin C and a vitamin K complex 4 times a day. After 6 weeks of high doses of the C and K I had a Cardiac 3D cat scan that showed zero plaque and zero calcium anywhere. My cardiac calcium score was zero. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I Just followed a high protein, high fat, low carb diet (aka ketovore diet) and added raw/food source vitamin C( 3-4 times the recommended dose @ 3-4 times a day) plus I added Vitamin K complex (3-4 times a day) and too grapefruit seed extract, 800 mgs 3-4 times a day. 👍🏻

Great video from Dr. Brewer. Age 66 I became Vegan 2 years ago when i found out, despite what i thought was a very healthy lifestyle, my bad cholesterol was very high and then a heart scan revealed plaque in my arteries. Statin pills were given to me but after researching i stopped taking them after 30 days and I became a plant base eater ( 95% plant base due some fish, occasional meat bites and rare egg, no dairy product or rarely cheese ). My cholesterol dropped by 35% in 3 months and remain low. I exercsise 5/6 days per week for approx 60/90 min each session ( sometime less, sometime more), weight lifting, spinning, yoga, swimming, plus I I walk around 8000 steps daily. Having said that, even Dr Brewer is not a purely plant base eater ( which is fine) I completely agree with his approach and his view on fasting being the best meal to restore arteries, heart etc. His video is pretty clear and allow each person to adopt the right fasting approach which I also practice. Really great advises in his talk and I applaud him. Lets age in great health ❤ 🙏.
Just an incredibly informative video. The best video to date. Just like I wish financial literacy was taught in schools, so do I wish this information was taught. @@betzib8021 ... virtually everything taught or not taught in schools is controversial with a lot of disagreement. . . .personally I HIGHLY disagree with taking away teaching cursive writing! That's an insane idea, but it has become the norm.
It's interesting you mention financial literacy. It's our barbaric level of socio-economic evolution that's responsible for the pushing of poisonous drugs instead of studying, educating, and supporting the public in actually healthy lifestyle practices. If it can be monopolized and make a small number of people a fortune, it gets resources. Otherwise, it gets virtually none.
What’s particularly useful about K2 is that it, along with magnesium, scavenges calcium from soft tissues where it’s causing pain and moved to where it’s needed.
I wish you were my doctor. Had a tripple bypass 3 years ago. I was 68. Now im binge watching your videos. Know this type of surgery is only a stop gap and mostly only lasts about 15 years at best. They were able to use the breast artery for one and i was told that will make it last longer. Lol. On 1 baby asprin a day. My test ptt was 5 min. And i noticed with a small cut i bled way too long. I reduced to 5x a week on asprin. Im going to talk again to doc about statins as i just saw your video on it and one year to correct your cholesterol. I do have high and inheritance bad genes. Thank you for continuing to help educate us.
Thanks Dr Brewer! This is gold. We each need to pay close attention to, & figure out:1-how our individual metabolism runs BEST, & then 2-fast & 3-eat (in alternation) to keep it running optimally & DO IT FOR LIFE. The saying "DON'T live to eat, INSTEAD ... EAT TO LIVE!"
Dr Ford brewer, you're amazing, I've just gotten a burst of encouragement, I'm a diabetic, and I slipped into a deep depression, because my primary physician wanted to put me on, ozempic, glimepiride, a low rise insulin, and a long with the 1,000 mg of metformin that I'm already taking, so Im now on my Journey of healthy living and eating, And so that's what I was afraid of, heart attack, stroke or my organs shutting down because of diabetes
You’ll be amazed by how fast your body will balance when you remove carbs and do intermittent fasting. I can get into a consistent state of ketosis now but carbs throw me off completely. I feel much better without them. Good luck. It becomes easier everyday.
Dr Brewer this is one of your key videos. I used to have very poor oral hygiene but after having a stent at 55 I stated to investigate causes of heart disease one was related to oral hygiene. I now have my teeth cleaned three times a year, I brush with a Phillips sonic care tooth brush and floors everyday at night before bed. My teeth and gums are now in the best condition of my life. One thing I do that you don’t mention is I scrap my tongue. Tonge scraping removes a lot of bacteria from the mouth and promotes the growth of bacteria for nitric oxide production. Also you failed to mention not using alcohol or other types of mouth wash that kill the beneficial oral bacteria that also helps prevent decay and gum disease. The proper mouth biome is important too. I have made so many changes in lifestyle because of your channel. Thanks.
Well done video. 😊 Unfortunately, I am unable to afford the required testing recommended. Thank you. I was kinda surprised at the meal, but there was a strong hint with the image of tape over the mouth, so I guessed between the answer and a huge salad. Since it's the same meal that Jason Fung pushes to reverse type 2 diabetes, I really have no choice but to comply. Excellent video.

I’m 62 yrs old. LDL has been elevating for 5’yrs. Now it’s about 200. HDL is always been in mid 70s. Triglycerides is almost always low 50-70. Just did Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Test two weeks ago, the result is Zero. I don’t exercise too much as I should. Do some walkings and fidgeting runnings. Have been doing intermittent fasting for about 2 yrs, but unsuccessful to lose weight. I’m 5’1”, WT: 107-108 lbs. on low carbs diet, not too much crazy fatty foods, love vegetables, avocados and salmon. Trying to eat everything organic, taking red rice yeast since 12/1/23, will do a lipid panel next month to see if Red rice yeast will lower my LDL. But, since my high LDL didn’t form any plaques, so it doesn’t matter. Oh, I did the genetic saliva test to see if that is the reason I have high LDL, the result is negative. I take K2/D3, fish oil, magnesium, red rice yeast, COQ10, Vitamin B12, Niacin, B-Complex daily. That is about it. Oh, I do feed my guts well, Kombucha Kefir chia seeds to solve constipation problem. Watching on and off many functional medicine channels. Learned a bunch!
Your diet sounds remarkably similar to mine. Every morning make a shake with cauliflower broccoli spinach carrots protein powder, and a scoop of metagenics ultra clear pH.. I also cut a piece of bitter melon and put it in there. I saw a guy at the local fresh food market and he said it lowers your blood pressure. Flaxseed chia seed and psyllium husks also a spoonful of each of those. However I have 25 to 49% plaque in my LAD. I am 5'10 and 163 lb.
Thank You, Dr. Ford Brewer for sharing Your experiences and Your advices and suggestions. I am on my healthy lifestyle journey, also. Slow and steady wins the race. 😊❤🎉
Fabulous video. I just had the ultrasound of my carotid and peripheral artery tests. I am 75. I eat all meat and seafood and low glycemic vegetables. Cheat once in a while for pizza or pasta but rarely. No bread ever, nothing made from flour. I also did a fasting insulin test and I was 5. You sir are a rarity and I wish I could find a doctor with your beliefs.
Apple Cider Vinegar has been a godsend for me. Had gallbladder problem, no doubt because of decades of low fat diet, little fat so my gallbladder had little to do. After starting ACV I found digestion so much easier.
I definitely think apple cider vinegar has it’s place for good health in terms of blood sugar and probably the best cure for acid reflux than any OTC med on the market. I never read about any connection to heart health.
@@JGirl.7 The vinegar wears down tooth enamel and so people with tooth decay or gum disease have a much higher chance of getting heart disease no matter what diet they consume. What foods cause tooth decay?

Thank you so much for this video. It is so obvious and simple, but I've never tried fasting. I will try water fasting one day each week. I already eat well except for one guilty pleasure 🥺 - Sugar. I've had stents inserted twice, into my cardiac arteries-- both times they propped open the arterial blockage and solved the angina I was having. So now I'm eating like Dr. Brewer recommends, and hoping for the best.
Doc. Brewer; just listening to you talk about these ideas, you sound like an awesome guy! I don't know when I'm going to meet our maker, my view is, it happens when it happens. And actually, the cleanliness of my soul is a whole lot more important to me than the cleanliness of my body. I used to be a health nut, working out 4 nights a week and again, another four hours on Saturday just because I enjoy working out! That's not to say that I don't care about my health; I do, it's just not been a priority for me once I started aging a bit. Now I'm pre-diabetic (or so my doc says, via test reports) and I'm quite a bit heavier (near 200lb) than I was when younger. Funny thing though doc, I feel better at my heavier weight than when I was a younger toothpick, go figure! Oh yeah; I really appreciate your mentioning how we should be eating, more salads, broccoli, cauliflower, protein, fish, red meat and white meat (and by white meat, I'm guessing you mean chicken). Fasting is something that I have never done; however, you have given me good indicators to start doing so, thank you! I'm going to try that "prolonged water fasting" idea first, meanwhile continuing to eat broccoli, cauliflower, red meat and chicken, all things I not only love to eat, but are healthy as well! Huh... go figure! All I need to do now is learn how to slowly fast on water, start my exercise routine again and stop eating those silly little candies of this sort or the other, those darn things are my downfall doc, I love the taste! Anyway; I subscribed to your jawing online because I find that you are not only interesting to listen to, you make good sense to me and you appear to me as a good soul, a person whom really cares about others... and in this day and age, you're a rare bear doc! So keep on doing what you're doing; there are those of us who deeply appreciate your sharing online... thank you again doc, have a long and happy life Sir, I sure wish you were my doc... and that's the best compliment a body could give another soul.

I’ve listened to a few of your videos, and I’ve avoided clicking, because I thought you didn’t answer what you said you were going to answer, but this time you went right down your outline, and answered the things you mentioned at the beginning, very well orchestrated and delivered. I’m in my eighth month of what most would consider extreme low-carb. My most recent lab results are in the Lein mass hyper responder category triglycerides in the 50s HDL 131, LDL 407 I’m 59 and have the body mass that I had at AJ 18 very lean very muscular And I’m an active climbing arborist. This was a very helpful video. I’m attempting to learn rapidly as I’ll be defending my position against the cardiologist that is shocked by my labs I’m attempting to manipulate my lab and was able to reduce my LDL from 429 to 407. That probably won’t impress the cardiologist.😃. Thanks for the great video.
What did you guide to the conclusion, that extreme LDL level under a elow-carb regime are normal, healthy and not dangerous? I am undecided, but would fear that conventional medicine is right with their causation claim of LDL. cheers
There's no way to defend that LDL. Diet needs to change or it is literally going to kill you. Are you eating low starch veggies at all? Something is way off diet wise.
@@Ms_AP_ I am beginning to integrate in standard keto veggies and some fermented vegetables. This is a masterclass video. The best you, or anyone for that matter, have done to clear up the pertinent issue of metabolic health with in-depth discussions of plaque, supplementation and diet and the various misconceptions held by many, including doctors themselves.
Dr. Brewer - Best video yet! I so wish the cardiologists and lipid specialists would come up to speed on this stuff. I spent 6 months and 4 cardiologists to find one who actually somewhat entertained these concepts. Through your videos, I am actually educating doctors and dieticians. Some don't care for my lectures, but we have to fix the old thought process. I did end up with two stents in my RCA in December 2023 as I was 90% blocked at 55 (female so no one suspected I was headed for a dirt nap) BUT at least now I have the knowledge to prevent or slow down the plaque process through carb restriction. My Cleveland Heart results look fantastic now. Thank you - your efforts to educate and save lives are very much appreciated.❤

INSULIN RESISTANCE- that’s the issue causing these conditions. I’m “diabetic” currently following the ketogenic path. It probably started as a young teen with high carbohydrate intake. I was diagnosed 25 yrs ago. The culprit was eating processed foods, high carbs. I didn’t know 😢! Now at 61, Ive been able to get off humalog insulin, but still taking metformin. My calcium score was 189 about 3 yrs ago. I’m going to ask my doctor to order a CIMT next time. Great advice from this doctor!!

Summary: The transcript primarily highlights the role of metabolic health in cardiovascular wellness, addressing common misconceptions and the importance of stabilizing artery plaque rather than simply aiming to remove it. Main Points: 1. Plaque Stability: Soft, inflamed plaque in arteries is more dangerous than stable plaque. Preventing plaque from becoming inflamed is key to lowering heart attack and stroke risks. 2. Common Misconceptions: High LDL cholesterol alone isn't a clear predictor of heart disease; insulin resistance and poor carbohydrate metabolism are more significant risk factors. Eating a low-sugar diet isn’t enough; refined carbs like bread and pasta also contribute to blood sugar spikes and plaque buildup. 3. Diet and Prevention: Emphasizes a diet tailored to individual carbohydrate tolerance to stabilize blood sugar and insulin levels, key for reducing inflammation and stabilizing plaque. Whole foods that are low in refined carbs are recommended, supporting a balanced metabolic state and helping to prevent “insulin resistance” or “insulin spiral of death,” a cycle of high insulin and sugar that worsens plaque. 4. Exercise and Testing: Resistance training is encouraged to support glucose metabolism. Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) scans and inflammation markers can help track cardiovascular health and plaque stability over time. This approach highlights that the best “artery-clearing” meal isn’t a single food but rather a balanced, low-refined-carb diet that manages blood sugar and insulin, preventing inflammation and improving overall artery health. The recommended "number one meal" to clean out arteries in the transcript is actually not a specific food but rather fasting. This approach is emphasized for its role in triggering autophagy, a cellular cleanup process that removes damaged cell components, which can lower inflammation and improve arterial health. Key points on fasting include: 1. Autophagy Benefits: Fasting initiates autophagy, helping to clear out damaged cells and reduce inflammation, thus supporting healthier arteries. 2. Types of Fasting: Different fasting methods (such as prolonged water fasting or intermittent fasting) may be effective, though each person’s ideal fasting schedule varies. 3. Lifestyle Focus: A consistent, balanced approach to diet, including limiting refined carbs and maintaining metabolic health, is advised over relying on a single meal or quick fix. Ultimately, it’s not one specific food but a lifestyle that includes fasting and careful food choices that is suggested for arterial health.
Good information. However, the reason the plaque is there in the 1st place is due to inflammation. The plaguing occurs to reinforce the arterial wall via 'splinting' to maintain integrity of the wall. There is a proteolytic enzyme that is beneficial to fighting the primary problem - inflammation & decreasing the plaque, including the calcium atherosclerosis, which is nattokinase. A Chinese medicinal herb utilized efficaciously for over 2,000 years is lumbrokinase. Both of these substances naturally thin the blood without hemorrhagic threat.
This video is incredibly insightful! Thank you for sharing such valuable information about a meal that supports heart health and helps clean out arteries. It’s amazing to see how food can play such a powerful role in improving our well-being. Your dedication to promoting healthier lifestyles is truly inspiring. Keep up the fantastic work!
You, sir, are the UA-cam presenter who DID start the flood of interest in K-2, mk-7 as an arterial 'clean-out' vitamin along with vitamin D3. I downloaded your program on the subject. I like this presentation today, but I DO NOT appreciate, in my view, your apparent effort at revisionist 'history' on serious subjects like this one. You even made the claim that you had eliminated ALL plaque in your arterial system along with one other person, a patient I believe, who had shown a similar result, as best as off the top of my head I may recall. I have a verbal IQ of 190, a 'fund of information IQ of 190, and in my mid-twenties a score of 98% recall, all on the Weschler Inventory test; my other scores were quite high as well. Your program to which I have made reference, impressed me hugely in the context of my personal cardiac health at the time you made your presentation on vitamin D3 and vit. K-2,mk-7, and I have been taking that combination, along with other vitamins essential to the health of other bodily functions, as well. But your presentation(s) on K-2, mk-7 and D-3, again, were hugely influential for me including your showing on paper held up to the camera your test results! Today, you appear in my view to be engaging in all manner of surreptitious, tacit backtracking, and my trust and confidence in your representations feel violated by your representations on vit. D3 and particularly on vitamin. K2, mk-7. I thought writing you on this in the Comment section important enough to be made late for my effort to try to return to part-time work representing disabled folks et al. at the State Capitol here today, first day of our 2024 session due to feeling SO FURIOUS with your seeming 'turnabout' relating to the value of arterial health of Vitamin K-2 combined with vitamin D3 that you have previously made in my view, and, in my view your representations at that time were major and had a huge impact.
A CIMT is not a CT scan. CIMT is Carotid Intima Media Thickness Test which measures the thickness of the 2 inner layers of your carotid arteries.

I have been fasting some to save money and now I find I may also be saving my life. win win !
Build back better IS working LOL

My grandma passed in 2018 at 107. She ate a typical American food diet, loved her chocolate but took vitamins and was always moving & exercising. She had a great attitude about life and loved everyone. She never drank or smoked and watched her weight. Her mind was sharp, she loved playing scrabble and playing piano.
Thanks for this post! Most people don't realize that our "MINDSET" about life, makes a big difference in our quality of life!!
My mother lived that way too❤
She had good genes.

He has. You will not go ‘home’ until the moment God wills it.
Yep. Very true.
First thing the vet asks when I bring my dog in is…What do feed him? Does my doctor ask me about my diet? Never.
Dr. Brewer just told us plaque can't be removed.

Thank You For This Information.
Wisdom. Thank you!
That’s easy for some to say.
Doctors are not the problem... and now or for a while now the curriculem has been molded by Pharma and Insurance Companies.

(I also take cod liver oil for Omega 3's)

Thank you.
Not pus like infection pus. Just meant liquid cholesterol.
The pus is the goo of plaque that leak out of compacted goo / pus, fillled arteries make their way into the blood stream causing serious affects in the body so pus is the plaque from high cholesterol Sounds so gross .
Dr.,this is absolutely one of the best videos you have made, bravo, fantastic.
You are the man ❤
Two years ago, i was taking metformin for type 2 diabetes and my blood pressure was 154/80. Following a terrible review by my doctor, i decided to do something about it.
I identified, what i considered to be, the main culprits? - I loved pasties, cheese & onion rolls, quiche (with crust) pies and, worst of all, Croissants (mmmm!) Basically, foods with a high butter content (their casings, to be more accurate)
I stopped eating THE LOT!!! But i did make one consession, CRUSTLESS quiche!
One year later, my diabetes nurse told me that it was in remission and my blood pressure was 120/60. It was decided that i should use up the remaining metforming prescription, and not to take anymore from therein - some 5 months (without)
Another year later and i still manage my diabetes, by diet only.
My blood pressure was/is, still 120/60.
Take cotrol of your own health - IT DOES WORK!!!
And, i love my near-vegetable diet, and all those lovely herbs and spices!!!
the butter wasn't the culprit
Nothing wrong with butter at all. It's the seed oils you need to banish.
How did those pasties taste?
Yes Doc! I do both Intermittent fasting daily & monthly water only fasts for no less the 3-days…. I’m 60 in great shape & no health issues at all- thank God!

Dr Ford brewer, you're amazing, I've just gotten a burst of encouragement, I'm a diabetic, and I slipped into a deep depression, because my primary physician wanted to put me on, ozempic, glimepiride, a low rise insulin, and a long with the 1,000 mg of metformin that I'm already taking, so Im now on my Journey of healthy living and eating,
And so that's what I was afraid of, heart attack, stroke or my organs shutting down because of diabetes
On the other hand, these videos help me understand what I am doing such as intermittent fasting, no processed food, no added sugars, limited alcohol, laughing more and moving more, is helping me to become metabolically healthier.
Have you checked out Lifeline Screening? They do a lot of these tests at a more affordable rate.

Thank you very much, Jim!

INSULIN RESISTANCE- that’s the issue causing these conditions. I’m “diabetic” currently following the ketogenic path. It probably started as a young teen with high carbohydrate intake. Summary:
The transcript primarily highlights the role of metabolic health in cardiovascular wellness, addressing common misconceptions and the importance of stabilizing artery plaque rather than simply aiming to remove it.
Main Points:
1. Plaque Stability:
Soft, inflamed plaque in arteries is more dangerous than stable plaque. Preventing plaque from becoming inflamed is key to lowering heart attack and stroke risks.
2. Common Misconceptions:
High LDL cholesterol alone isn't a clear predictor of heart disease; insulin resistance and poor carbohydrate metabolism are more significant risk factors.
Eating a low-sugar diet isn’t enough; refined carbs like bread and pasta also contribute to blood sugar spikes and plaque buildup.
3. Diet and Prevention:
Emphasizes a diet tailored to individual carbohydrate tolerance to stabilize blood sugar and insulin levels, key for reducing inflammation and stabilizing plaque.
Whole foods that are low in refined carbs are recommended, supporting a balanced metabolic state and helping to prevent “insulin resistance” or “insulin spiral of death,” a cycle of high insulin and sugar that worsens plaque.
4. Exercise and Testing:
Resistance training is encouraged to support glucose metabolism.
Key points on fasting include:
Thank you very much!
