As a circus artist who does aerials (silks, straps and rope) this was both really funny and painful to watch hahaha. I wanted to run to you to lend you my circus rope because yours looks so slippery and way too thick! Also if you ever read this, to catch the rope when you do a vrille (when you let go and twist), be careful of the way your hands catch it. It seemed like sometimes you tried to catch it with both of your hands on the same side of the rope. To avoid that, catch it first with the hand that's on the correct side of the rope. So for example, in the video you twist to your left, so catch your right hand first. Don't give up!
Thank you!!!😅🤘 appreciate it!
these guys really put effort ,,,,,,,,,,,,try to challenge how running fast human can penetrarte through things
This is the coolest backyard I have ever seen.
I'm gonna need more movie stunts reviewed for difficulty ratings. It's hard to even understand how impressive these movie stunts are.
Remember Riddick is 4 to 5 times stronger, than a normal strong man..
This guy is 4 to 5 times stronger than the average man
@@jacewalton6677 he didn't say average man
Exactly.
Next time they should try to stop a military hummer at 50mph with their hands, like the hulk did.
This stunt was done by a stuntman in a single take, ok he needed several attempts.
You should try the mission impossible version of this one where Tom Cruise does it on a pole in the middle of the room.
🤫🤫🤫hey! No spoilers!😂😂😂
This is so cool watching you guys try to figure out this trick. My friend Russ Stark did that stunt in Chronicles of Riddick. His background is in gymnastics and he performed with Quidam on Spanish Web. He did do the entire stunt in one take. He had nothing to do with changing camera angles which make it look like multiple takes. He also did it with the manacles on his wrists. The only part (obviously) that he didn't do was snapping the "handcuffs". The young man doing the one arm back flag roll-up in the blue costume is named Vadim. I believe he was the only one in the world doing that trick at the time. It always makes me cringe watching him hit the bottom of that roll down. Thanks for the fun content.
Do you know what material Russ was using for binding his wrists? I’d love to test it out some more.
@@thejonbrown He said they were manacles from the costume department. You can buy replicas online. I don't know if those are rated to human safety like his were though. They were threaded through an eye in the bottom of the Spanish Web.
@@ponderingnugget 👍🏽, I’ll look into it more, thank you.
I'm currently wearing a Quidam shirt for the Cirque du Soleil show...
@@GrymmGaming That was a cool show. A true Franco Dragone masterpiece.
Clearly Riddick had something to break as opposed to a tight knot to untie but it was fun to work and practice something new like aerial skills either way for the time we had. We’ll get a dowel or handcuffs next time to make it legit. Love you, brother
I think we should try to do this muscle up!🤔🤜
Thank you for YOU!🤘😎 see you in a bit!😅
@@AntonFomenko we’ll get it, no doubt
Handcuffs and a hook like Arnold Schwarzenegger in True Lies
@@thejonbrown Your both great to watch, work well together pushing for improvement is hard alone.
@@dave_h_8742 yea it’s always fun and unique but believe it or not, I actually train better solo. Nothing against anyone, that’s simply my personality with training.
A friend upon seeing the scene, said "hey, Riddick is a badass" but I told him that actually the guys who fought him after he got free are even more so. If I see a guy do something like that, no way I'm looking for a fight.
That’s basically a close grip inverted muscle-up. It’s supposed to be a D level skill in gymnastics, so way harder than iron cross or full planche
What’s the hardest skill
@@ZombieChicken-X The hardest static hold is the Victorian cross at an E. You have ring skills at F level though. I think back lever to maltese is F.
@@LeEternelleVie Another question, is a one arm pushup with your legs closed together possible?
@@ZombieChicken-X Yes, requires extremely strong hips and core for anti torsion resistance.
@@sillymesilly What exercises/progressions train for those?
My favorite part of this is the discussion about how we consume that which is beautiful, be it a film, acrobatic or circus performance, or any other creative work. We are often so involved with our own consumption of someone else’s creativity that we forget to appreciate the work and time that’s gone into it. Wonderful message Anton, and perfect reminder to appreciate the work of creating art.
I was rofling hard when jonathan immediately went into this detailed, yet exceptionaly calm and collected description of what he'd do to Anton if he was his real enemy 😂😂 Riddick would be proud.
Jonathan seems to have read the "Evil Overlord list" ...
As an aerial silks performer this was hilarious to watch 🤣🤣
🤘😂
Yup I’m right there with you😂
"Don't fall, if you fall it is lifetime decompression" XD
🤘😂
@@AntonFomenko Hey Anton, can you please visit a jiujitsu or sambo/wrestling or jus an MMA gym in general? I know you went to a boxing gym already and I know MMA is a very good workout.
@@tramenari one day for sure!🔥🤘
I think for the muscle up in the movie, the fact that the handuffs are metal (maybe with a rigid rod in the middle as well) really helps the guy push himself at some point (so it's probably harder/impossible with loose handcuffs like you had). I think even the way you tried in the video, without the muscle up, it might be easier with some sort of rigid handcuffs so you don't put as much pressure on the skin of your wrists and so you have more wriggle room
Riddick was not human. He was beyond our levels or strength or endurance.
His double did it for real. 1 continuous take too. Guy's a beast.
@@SasquatchPJs who was the double??
He is human but from another planet with more gravity so that's why he stronger
Thank you. Seeing all the failed attempts from someone with good acrobatic skills gives an even better feeling of how hard the stuff is that circus acrobats make look so easy.
I'd love to see Magnus attempt this
my exact thoughts lol
I think his body weight will be much more beneficial to doing this. I’d love to see him attempt it!
If there’s enough chalk he can do it
I would wait till my hands pop off. Then I would pick them up with my mouth and run
Sounds like something out of the new resident evil game 😂
@@John.McIntyre I have prosthetic hands
Thought this was just a god tier shitpost until I saw your second reply
Thank you for making me laugh for a minute, I appreciate you
Plot twist, I don't have prosthetic hands
“If you fall, it will be lifetime decompression” lmao
How did you dislocate your arm? "I was suspended in the air trying to unwrap myself attempting to escape"
6:14 Not even Magnus can take off that shirt so quickly.
He might be able to "rope up" upside down though.
You have to remember in the movie that is on a prison moon so micro gravity is in play for sure.
Riddick has his hands attached separately so they can come apart a bit. You should try making a loop at the end of the rope and then run shorter rope/tape through it to attach the hands. That should make it more possible 😄
In the movie he has more space available between his hands, they aren't locked together. That is where the trick is, the stuntman can grab rope door each hand and then muscle up.
Was it not actually vin diesel who did the stunt?
@@dayman888 Is that a serious question?
@@regularape Yeah it was. Vind Diesel is a pretty swol dude. Could he not possibly do that stunt? He's not jumping off a building or anything.
People train their whole lifes to be able to do those types of gymnastics, Vin Diesel picks up weights and puts them down.
@@regularape I don't know Vin Diesels work out routine. I just know he is a SWOL looking dude.
What a fun and brutal challenge! Reminds me a bit of the one-ring muscle up that you've shown, still one of my goals to get that!
All hail for Riddick stuff, it's his best movie ever, period.
that use what you have - bedsheets socks - that's awesome - cool stuff.
Thank you for acknowledging that it can be done in the sense that every individual move is possible in ideal circumstances, you just want to see how it would play out for regular instances.
The one thing I notice is you both have straight arms where Riddick had bent arms that were close to his body, giving him stability when he pulls his legs up to flip in one motion. Idk, it's harder to describe vs show but Riddick's arms are in his "power zone" right in front of his body, yours are too far extended. If that makes sense.
It’s because you guys were a half gram heavy on the back side
dying XD
Yup….this is the best comment lol😂😂👌🏾👌🏾
😂
That's a cool one, but the Tom Cruise escape from being handcuffed to a pole is even better. Kip ups to climb a pole? Freaking brilliant!
I’ve dislocated my shoulder 7 times and this video made my shoulder hurt.
I think closest you can get to escaping this kind of trap is getting upside down, grabbing the rope with legs to loosen the weight on knots and try to untie them with your hands.. No way of snapping the rope with your weight only, it's way too durable for that, not to mention the damage done to hands and muscles if you'd try that. Maybe get the rope on something with sharper angle and grind it till it snaps. Maybe simply climb to wherever the rope is anchored and try something there, though I'm sure it's not easy to think in creative ways when you're hanging upside down lol
For the first part you should train the "pull yourself up with only the feet" move WITHOUT BOUND HANDS. There is a foot-lock technique for "right-side up" and you need to figure out how it works upside down. So start from a "lying down position" and grab the rope with your legs.
The WIDE BOYZ (crack climbers) had a "learn crack climbing" video IIRC where they did that with Magnus ...
Ah Riddick, my favorite anti hero of all time.
This is so inspirational . Thank you for the daily dose of motivation Anton and Johnathan. You two are the only people who prove the proveb "failure is stepping stone to success".
this was an interesting video but am I the only one thinking these guys should start a side-channel reviewing mattress?
Wow Anton, thanks so much for all the effort on the video. I'm one of the people who requested this move. :) Thanks again!
😉 i liked that idea a lot!
i think the straps like in the circus video (instead of the rope) is important. the rope is a lot heavier, and is what you attempting to move vs the free practices. also that strap will wrap up a lot better than the rope. i think it may be surprisingly easy with the proper strap
having tried that while i was training trapeze regularly I can confirm it is not 'surprisingly easy'
Madam Burnz needs to be consulted here.
To do the flip "Riddick" does you need your hands to be further apart (look at the clip again) I think it's impossible to twist your shoulders like that with hands together.
Yep... a lot of small details can make it impossible.
These stunt series are great!
I think crematoria (or whatever the hell is called the planet where it takes place, in Italian they called it crematoria) It had the lower gravity It might be somewhat easier
Thaaaats deaaaaamn a good point!!!😎🤜
@@AntonFomenko So you need to bug Elon Musk now to get on the first flight to Mars to give it a try again?
It's called Crematoria in the english version too.
I've said it before, but love these videos you do with Jon. You're a great combination 👍🏻👍🏻
That risk of "lifetime decompression" if he fell out of the tree is rather terrifying to think about.
Yeah!😬😬😬
I recently started watching chiropractor videos ... and there are a lot of different styles among them.
It’d be cool to see you guys revisit this after training more rope work and aerial skills with a trainer.
I love these videos! Especially the escape scenes and trying to reenact them. Very cool, I highly recommend you do more, or at least I would love to see them :)
Beautiful format!
Its always so nice to see you guys just enjoy what you doing.
Excellent challenge bro's! I admire the effort you two put forth!
I LOVED this episode. More, please.
I'm really enjoying these!
nice to see you up to your old tricks anton 👍🏻
One of the reasons you had problems is because you didn't set up like Riddick in the movie. If you look at the 1:28 mark in your vid, you can clearly see that Riddick's hands are NOT tied together. Rather, they are bound with about a foot of separation between them. The "chain" between his hands passes through an eye in the end of the rope that he's dangling from. More importantly, this separation allowed him to rotate his joints and use the "chain" like a bar for leverage.
Freeze the frame again at the 5:39 mark and you can clearly see that his hands are oriented with his thumbs towards each other and the thick "chain" gripped in both fists. I'd even go so far as to say that they did use a stiff bar for that particular scene.
This is what allows him to muscle up in that handstand. None of that would be possible if his hands were bound together because he'd be getting all locked up in the joints.
You're absolutely right about breaking the move down into its constituent parts and practicing those to build up the muscle memory. Used to have to do that in firearms training, and never would have believed how important a step it is. The big problem was that you started on the wrong foot, so to speak, by not binding your hands like was shown in the film. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that Riddick's hands might have looked tied together, but they were really just run through some eye splices and left him plenty of freedom to move and rotate without shredding his skin or causing a lockup.
Haha, I was literally watching this movie about two weeks ago and was wondering if any human being would be able to do it! Since jonathan says it is doable - believe him. ;)
Riddick when he gets up can spread his hands a distance. He does not wear them as tied and together as you.
Super interesting that the hands tied was harder than the feet tied version. Novel research 😂
Again,loving the music....😊
Still waiting for the 4th movie :)😊😉👍
I thought there are only two movies?
@@sillymesilly 3 movies, but if you count the anime will be 4. Pitch Black 2000, The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury 2004(anime), The Chronicles of Riddick 2004, Riddick 2013. But the 4th movie is on the way :)😊😉👍

I do have to say; that last foot hang climb was probably the most dangerous thing ive seen on this channel. haha lifetime injury if something went wrong on that...

That is the coolest backyard ever. You guys rock!
Anton thank you for not being too serious about any of this :) It makes it nice to watch. I mean I'm glad you do the things with serious effort but you don't have that GI joe attidute.
Great videos :)
Riddick had the power of family
As Tyson said. I think there might be a perk to actual cuffs with a little distance in-between your hands that may help you with this.
Iv always wandered this!!! From the day of the movie!! 🤣🤣👏🙌🙌
Там еще в какой-то части был момент, когда Ридик держась одной рукой за веревку, прыгает со скалы, как на тарзанке, летит , потом свободной рукой хватает девушку и вместе с ней уже летит. Это наверное вообще не реально.
That tree with all that ropes on it, i love it!
Awesome.
I also enjoyed watching you practice falling down from 6-9 feet high :)
I watched this when you first posted it and that sent me into a spiral of watching chronicles of Riddick. So thank you for that
💪🔥
Omg clark is freaking adorable! 😆❤🐶
You are actually making badass videos
🤘😎
the cuffs on riddick had a space between the cuffs about two hands worth between each cuff. When he flips over he grabs the spacer inbetween
Thanks … for gave away my future escape….😂😂🥊
I wonder if you can do a version of a J-hook or S-hook whilst upside down. I don't have a rope to try it. Another neat video though!
They should have started on the ground first while practicing this. It isnt going to be easy though and "rope twisted around the leg" seems like the only version that might work.
I would imagine if your life was actually in danger, you might be able to pull it off. I also wonder if training for this exact set of moves, it would become possible.
I highly doubt it - you would break your hands during the atempt to break those handcuffs.
another comment mentions it was a gymnast who performed the stunt initially, with extensive training & strengh it becomes possible
Yay!
Как всегда на высоте! Во всех смыслах👍
🤘😌
Just a couple dudes tieing eachother up in their backyard
... and lots of rope and sweat.
Nothing to see here ... move along, move along.
Pretty tough challenge, but doable if you can pause time whilst you practice.😁
2:38 -- I'm just probably a very nice hostage, ahaha
Here before Magnus comments on your shirt
I think it would have been easier on the grip up the rope if you actually had the length as Riddick had between his hands there was about a foot length between the cuffs that did not change as he pulled on it. I'm impressed with the work you guys put in to it so far. It's amazing how much you managed though. I just wonder though even though you might actually gain the ability to do the whole stunt would it actually manage to break the wrist wraps be it any material?
If anyone can do this id be surprised, especially the last part where he snaps the cuffs 🤣
Hahaha! So funny guys to find my self on your video explanation! The twist are not bad just practice the catch and get safe mattress just in case! ;)
After watching this, I think I have it figured out.
Don't make enemies :D

I just knew that Riddick the coolest guy in the galaxy
Circus people are Hella strong.
Clark is the man!
#Love your vids #mate ! #thumbsup ! Looking forward to your #cultivated #development , you seem like an #excellenteducator and #enjoythepath .
Also Riddicks hands were not tied up against each other, there was a lot of distance between his hands.
It is not just trying it ones. People who have practiced this have muscle memory/adaptations in nervous system. It is not purely strength.
keep up the good videos. this is awesome
Cool, inspirational and "holy moly" as always - but one thing i don't get: Why is this a good skill to have as you say in the video? In case someone ties you up like this? Or is this something transferable to other exercises i don't see rn? Keep it up :)
Both!😂
If you go through the videos of Magnus Midtbo you will come across some videos with the WIDE BOYZ - he has a playlist - and in one of them they have created a new climbing route with cracks in Magnus' gym. Pete Whittaker's friend Mari is also there and she is hanging upside down out of a crack just locked in there with just her feet "for a brief rest period" ... but then falls after trying to get the hands in again. It is an application in sports ... but "the other way round", starting upside down.
Maybe tie up a human-sized crash dummy to it, wind it upwards, like off the movie, then let it drop to observe the results.
Not that I could or could ever do that, but I'm thinking and a review of the video shows that he has let go and is twisting around while he is still going up, so that by the time he catches he's just started falling. This whole thing also shows how friggin fast gravity is and why it's virtually impossible to recatch yourself after you've fallen for any amount of time (if you didn't have an upward component to your velocity to start.
