When i was 11 taking shito Ru Karate in 80s.. the schools master died he was 10th degree. And lived in Japan and was Japanese. Our man instructor was Demetri and met the master in Japan during leave in the Korean war. And the master and him became friends and in 70s that's how Demetri got the school. Well when the master died his oldest son from Japan come to America with a group he was a 7th degree. And wanted to pay his respect to Demetri in person. For his dad's friendship and Demetri looked over the schools they planted in the midwest. Cincinnati area. The son brought a judo master. A old man like 50. Lol I was 11. Lol that Judo man beat every blackbelt in our school with ease.. he threw them all to ground. As a kid I remember the power of the sound of the blavkbelts hitting the mats. After that night I started looking for a judo school. There was only 1 within 30 miles and it was a Korean guy. And he didn't take students until 16 years old. So I quit Karate that month knowing it wasn't going to help me fight when needed. And it was not fun doing kotas all class. So I joined the wrestling team in middle school like 6 months later.. if all that didn't happen I would of wasted years in Karate class. Doing katas.. now in Cincinnati area you can learn anything I here.
