Hi Paul. Do you have any advice for someone who has never flown before, who's scared to death to fly and has Anxiety/Panic disorder? Reason I ask is because even though I'm scared I'm also VERY fascinated with flying and planes, etc and would LoVe for one day to get the hell outta the United States!! If you have any advice for this scaredy cat please let me know and if anyone out here has any for me that isn't mean!! PLEASE feel free to reply to me. TYSVM for your time and Great videos!! I'm having a layover in DFW when I go to Harlingen in December! Never been there before, so I'm very excited. Ofc will keep myself safe and others safe as much as possible with COVID going on, I just wanted to visit my bf for the holidays
The flagship lounge is closed, so you have to go to a reduced admirals club. No hot food most of the time. Your meal is brought on on a tray instead of the normal dish by dish in fc. I'm not sure about in business what's changed. I was in business on my last trip, but when I checked in I was offered an upgrade to FC for $150.
No ice cream sundaes either. Plus the flight attendants are all ALOT older on these routes. Because A) I assume it one of the highly sought after routes to work. B) They laid off junior FA's October 1st
Personally, as nice as the FC seats are on AA, I much prefer the EWR to LAX on United in their 787-10!! Something about that plane i absolutely love. I don't wanna get off when the flight is over!
When we are not dealing with pandemics, I’m a transcontinental flyer, leaving from the east coast to visit family in my longtime home of the Bay Area. I miss the relative ease and lower risk of traveling pre-Covid. Thanks for this video. It temporarily eases my need for an airline experience!
@@davidlazarus67 Doubt it considering we don't do that with the different versions of the flu and colds. Once we have the vaccine we will be fine, it just means covid will be normal like the flu.
3:35 this is possible at Toronto Pearson Airport, you can see arrivals to Pearson and also Toronto City airport, although if you're looking for really good views of that airport, The CN tower is your best bet.
You can see planes lined for Toronto Pearson airport from Billy Bishop Airport, when YYZ is using 15R/33L and 15L/33R. Bu these runways are only used for only 5% of all landings at YYZ, depending on wind conditions.
Great video as always! Just to flag that Transcontinental Flagship Business passengers don't need status to use the Flagship lounges, they can enter based on their ticket.
Thanks! My mistake - forgot that was the case. It’s just Domestic First that can’t enter Flagships unless they’re a non-AA Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald (confusing huh!).
1970s to 2013 is also my favorite logo of American Airlines, Great taste Paul! At 3:37 in Detroit Michigan, at Detroit Willow Run Airport a small, regional cargo based airport(KYIP), you can see planes on Flightradar24 lined up on approach to the main airport for cargo and passenger flights, the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (KDTW) also one of Delta Airlines’ big hub airports. 👍
As a former frequent flyer who was doing approx. 30 segments per month this time a year ago, these videos are a lovely way to remind me how much I enjoy flying. Sadly I have been reassigned to a desk job thanks to the pandemic so my days of flying weekly and building status are behind me 🙁
Another great video Paul.. Prior to Covid I traveled for work and leisure, not having stepped on a plane this year may seem trivial to most but it’s been tough. Your videos offer somewhat of an escape, I especially miss traveling to the US so enjoyed this Vid.. keep up the good work sir
Well done Paul as usual. Good thing I checked to see when you had recorded this because seeing the buffet I figured the Governor of NY was going to have a cow when he saw this. Keep up the good work sir and God bless.
Great video! I love the AA transcons! One slight correction though: All AA A321T Business and First class passengers can access the Flagship Lounge, and then wishing the Flagship Lounge, only First Class passengers have access to Flagship First Dining.
Orlando-Sanford (KSFB), Orlando Executive (KORL), Orlando International (KMCO), and Kissimmee Gateway (KISM) are all extremely close to one another to where you can see aircraft flying into other airports all the time. When the southbound runways are active at MCO, airliners fly right over ORL at like 2,500 feet since the two airports are less than 6 miles apart. Also, McDilll Air Force Base is like 4 miles south of Tampa (KTPA) and in line with their north/south runways, so you fly over an air force base at like 1,100'
@@Millennialmonitor No, they ought to be a full service carrier in Buisness. How else will they differenciate themselves from the actual greyhounds like Spirit.
At sfo you can watch arrivals and departures at Oakland. I think you can also see arrivals and departures at Kobe from Osaka Kansai on a day with good visibility as well.
I am a retired flight attendant and the Airbus 321 was my favorite plane. I bid on the 321 door 2, facing after. I loved takeoff. Slow, gradual into the air. This bus has a longer body with shorter wing span. Take off too fast, you will have a "tail strike". The tail hits the ground and damages it. AA has not had a tail strike, that I know of! I am retired AA flight attendant.
I agree Paul about missing the 757. I took numerous flights within the US and across the Atlantic and always had a great experience. I don't mind single-aisle planes at all.
I enjoyed American's a300s. It was too bad I couldn't get on one before they were retired. 😥🤦♂️ I almost did but had to change my dates and ended up with a different routing.
I used to work on the tarmac for a couple of different airlines at Oakland International (OAK) and would be able to see the air traffic across the bay at San Francisco (SFO).
Flew this once in business class from LAX/JFK thanks to a 500 mile upgrade. The seat was great. Someone tried to self-upgrade into the empty seat next to me but the keen eyes stewardess soon sorted that out!
Great vlog as always! Where do you want me to start? ARN-BMA, CDG-LBG-ORY, SFO-OAK, MIA-FLL, LGA-TEB, MCO-SBF, ORD-MDW, LAX-LGB etc. When it comes to borders you have SW in TX and Mexico. Two airports next to one another in two countries. Basel, Mulhouse and GVA. Three airports, and three countries. AGP-GIB? Stay safe, and be safe!
I did a similar very early morning JFK to SFO flight in 2012, it was a 767 though... probably not more than 25 passengers and crew on board... it was fun having such a huge aircraft with so few people on board... the middle seats became beds. Getting into SFO in thick fog was weird though, it’s like nothing, nothing, nothing, RUNWAY!
Paul, another absolutely class video. I aspire to travel in the way you do but I am nervous of turbulence and I let it stop me. Would you consider documenting more of the turbulence you encounter on your journeys or create a turbulence series? I’d be really keen to see how often you encounter it and to what degree. It would certainly inspire me more to fly!
Turbulence typically isn't too bad, and the majority of the time you get very little to no turbulence. And when you do get turbulence, it's usually just a very small shake, nothing too big. Getting turbulence really bad is usually very rare, so there's no need to worry about it, tho I do understand the anxiety behind it.
You stated the wrong thing about lounge access. AA does allow both first and business class passengers on the transcon to access the flagship lounge, because it is marketed as Flagship First and Flagship Business.
Don't know how well you can see aircraft movements but you can see the lights to SFO from the western terminal windows at OAK. Did you film the SOF-LHR leg?
You can tell this has been edited prior to summer 2020. Latam is leaving one world and the AA 757 is gone! I also got upgrade last winter to fly this same product to LA from JFK. If you fly it sometime again or for the first time, I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookie dough bites! They are so good!
At ohare international in Chicago, it is possible if the winds are right to see southwest aircraft coming out of milwaukee general Mitchell or Chicago midway
You can see aircraft landing at KIX from Kobe Airport. If the flight is landing at KIX from the west, it would fly very low (around 2000 ft) just south of Kobe Airport and then make a right turn to line up to the runways of KIX. Also, I think you can see planes landing at HKG from MFM, if flights are landing from the South China Sea and HKG is busy, so that the flights would be flying north from the Sea at a path fairly close to Macau, and make a right turn just southeast of MFM to line up with HKG's runway, landing from the west. The last one I am not sure: can you see OAK from SFO (and v.v.)? They are just a narrow bay apart.
