An armed variant of this plane would be really good for countries that want a jet for counter-insurgency operations and don't need much for protecting their airspace due to friendly neighbours. For example, South American countries.

They managed the program brilliantly, using an already available engine and choosing metal body type to deliver the aircraft in record time. But one thing they can do try making a version with composite materials and reducing its weight than it could be armed more heavily and performance would be improved also. It have potential to improve more and more and more.

Now lift size is officially out ,so is it safe to say that rafale will not fit in that lift ?
Rafale was never going to fit, even in a 11 m lift as its span is 11.4 m
They always planned to remove a wing or parts of wing to fit in Rafale
They will be just using Rafale to negotiate pricing

5:30 those propeller aircrafts which the trainees were flying were jet aircrafts as well
Deepak can be useful in taking down drones and slow moving helicopter.
Recently, Su35 took a pain in shooting down Mi8 with Ukrainian Admiral due to slow speed of helicopter

The thing is pilatus pc 7 is a tried and tested basic trainer , in use by several countries , while the HTT 40 is completely untested in real life conditions. A basic trainer aircraft has to be a plane which is meant for a rookie pilot , that is it should give the pilot enough time and mechanisms to rectify his mistakes ,so that the trainer does not have to intervene time and again.
Will be proven and will be updated on regular basis, it is important for us to become self reliant, in next 3 year's we will become self reliant and this will be made available for export to foreign countries

What is your opinion on India using F35 stealth fighter type of customised Fighter instead of AWACS during war for Surveillance rather than deploying large assets which requires huge resources to protect them and then also maybe a easy target
Whereas Customised Fighter jet cannot be easily spotted or shot down

Typhoon has clear advantage over Rafale in air supremacy, if the level is at mid to high altitude.
Rafale sine at low to mid altitude. Moreover rafale has better WVR avionics. And typhoon was never made for ground support role.
The pilot training is quite expansive and must be gruelling. Wonder what is the passing percentage. The best of the best will become fighter pilots.

What is the cost difference between Pilatus and this. Also given pilatus is half the weight and half the power the running cost maybe smaller. Also fiber body needs less maintainence. If they do go with a armed version they should look to replace certain sections with composites to compensate for weight gain because of the additional armor and weapons keeping the power to weight ratio same. Will increase cost but again need to compare with similar platforms like tocano.
Pilatus was crooked deal. They used the public sentiment to seal the deal in favour of money. Bey of such deals, now IAF top brass don't have guts to the steps.
Most of the part of pilatus are to be imported so consequently they cost higher for us. May be the fuel cost be lower.
Engine is dornier, so no new recruitment for the plane as well.
So in overall, it will be less costly to operate. But only time xan tell.

I was wondering if this aircraft can be used to shoot down a Bayraktar drone - but I guess not. While the HTT40 has the top speed to match the Bayraktar, the latter has a higher ceiling (25000 feet versus 19000 feet). Also interesting to compare this with a WW2 era Spitfire. 🤔
I know you are doing your job but:
1. If HTT40 could be made in 11 months, what was HAL doing for 20 years? Young pilots were dying in the dangerous HTP-32 Deepak trainer for decades.
2. Who will the HTT40 armed aircraft attack? Punjab drug dealers? Maoists? We don't even use light artillery against them. It will not last for 10 minutes against Pakistan or China as a CAS aircraft. It is not needed.
3. HJT-36 Sitara is a DEAD basically flawed design. Please stop hallucinating.
4. Nobody will buy this aircraft if it is not used by India itself. 20 years too late.
Want to blame somebody? Try the IAS fellows of IAF. (IAS mane import addicted souls)
