Los Angeles is a city with many different layers, to some it represents opportunity and the chance to make dreams come true, to others it’s become a place of hardship and despair. LA is one of the hardest places to try and chronicle in short form. There are so many preconceived stereotypes about what it is, and yet a place so enormous geographically that unless you’re here, it’s really, really hard to wrap your head around. LA County is larger than both the states of Delaware and Rhode Island. The neighborhoods are everything. And they are as vast, and as diverse in terms of what your “experience of LA” will feel like, based upon which areas you visit. And it can change rapidly in a matter of City blocks - and by car, foot, or public transport, take you a lifetime to explore. One could simultaneously come away thinking LA is nothing but homeless encampments, eternal struggle, and broken government - or come away with a perception of a true paradise, with an egalitarian mixture of so many amazing cultures that all meld together, and lift each other up. Generally speaking everyone gets along, and you can be whoever you are, and in so many ways, LA is decades ahead culturally in terms of acceptance and exposure. Stuff moves fast here, and by the time something has already come and gone and faded out of fashion in LA, it’s provably just filtering out into the rest of the US and internationally - doomed to soon enough be a cliche, but ultimately was born in LA. No secret that so many of the now most iconic things across the globe in entertainment, food, and culture, were truly born in LA. It’s siren-like call to people from all over the globe, seeking to move and live the LA dream, has as much helped as hurt the actual evolution of the City.

Hi 👋🏽 the real beauty of California is in its State and National Parks 🏞️ In fact, we have 9 national parks and they’re all beautiful. I strongly recommend visiting Yosemite, Sequoia? Joshua Tree.
Love your videos, hence the subscription…You certainly hit different ends of the food spectrum, but there’s so much more…Wish I knew you were coming. Knowing the real LA, I can’t imagine it’s everyones dream at the moment. You handled the responses from the homeless rather well. In your outlook, there is hope for LA?
I like your filming style and cinematography. I hope you cover more cities in California (and not just the bigger ones). You tell a good story about the realities here.
I've lived in L.A. County since I was in elementary school in the 1960s and will not be leaving. As for the homeless situation, it didn't start yesterday, but has grown over the decades. One needs to go back to Skid Row in the 1930s and understand the history and complexities of L.A. People have come here from other places in droves for decades. And there were even those who were bussed here from other states decades ago and dropped off in Skid Row as those 50 blocks were formed to contain the homeless and offer services. But, the homeless started moving around more and especially after the subway and the above-the-ground Metro Link train systems were built. As for L.A., it doesn't only consist of the "tourist" parts of L.A. County. L.A. County is huge and consists of eighty-eight incorporated cities. Where I'm from, it's clean, quiet, and overall quite safe as are various other cities within L.A. County. But, how many vloggers actually get out of the "tourist" hub of L.A. when they come here? And L.A. probably means L.A. County to most of us here as when one who is not from here asks me where I'm from, I reply, "L.A.", but meaning the county. Many vloggers who speak of L.A. are obviously not only speaking of The City of L.A. They also talk about Beverly Hills (its own city), Malibu (its own city), Santa Monica (its own city), (West) Hollywood (It's own city) etc. But, they classify it all in terms of being L.A. This is a very diverse and vibrant county with a lot of creativity, interesting cities, people, food, neighborhoods, and great weather, all within the same county. And yes, we have our problems like many other cities do, both within The U.S. and also overseas as I've been traveling the world extensively for five decades and have seen what's been going on in a lot of places in various countries. And, yes, it can be expensive here, but people still move here knowing that it's expensive before they come. I'm glad that you got to Boyle Heights, a vibrant area. East L.A., is also very vibrant. I spent over three decades working in those areas with the ethnic populations there as well as in other parts of L.A. County with different ethnic populations and for four decades. You also need to explore the San Gabriel Valley part of L.A. County. Greetings from Los Angeles
Absolutely, I agree all major cities have their problems, but as you said LA county is huge with many cities and a lot of evidence of creativity and hard work and success. From the time I spent their it is obvious that no place is ever perfect, but it’s a diverse exciting place to be for sure!
@@xazimir4266 Thanks. True. Hollywood is L.A. I was referring to (West) Hollywood, but forgot to type West to clarify it for folks not from here. I'll try to re-edit that part. A lot of vloggers and tourists go to the area of Melrose west of La Cienega to shop and also go to restaurants. That whole area is very popular all the way west of The Blue Whale and to the end where Cafe Figaro used to be way back in the day. I also shop in that area when I drive to that part of town. West Hollywood also extends to some popular parts east and northeast of La Cienega. The West Hollywood vs L.A. boundary lines get a bit confusing in that area though as other parts of Melrose are actually in L.A. and where vloggers and tourists also go. Greetings from Los Angeles
Thanks for sharing the various layers in the city. I think it has gotten worse over the years and the difference between the haves and have nots is growing.
Hey, love that your channel is growing and maturing. This one turned out to be less shine and glamour and more down to earth, real life struggles. Keep with the great work!
Its definitely a homeless epidemic/ crisis here in LA, i been homeless years ago, we need more programs to help these folks, lots of them have traumas💯✊️🚨
Seeing that elderly lady with her dog on the street really breaks my heart, that is someone’s mother, grandmother even in nobody cares what happens to her,if i lived out there she could stay with me.
Politicians don't get people hooked on drugs. Some people make poor life choices. Unfortunately a lot of the "red" states send there homeless to "California" to get help. Then people from red states bash California and say it's gone to shit not realizing there "perfect" state pushes its problem to us. I got a homeless encampment nearby and they got expired tags and all are out of state. As far as Mississippi.
“I did not realise on the magical land where stars live on the streets of Hollywood Boulevard, there would be such a high homeless problem to rival New York City- which is another mind boggling homeless situation when there’s enough hotel vacancy in the high rises to rid of the issue….California has the most vehicle traffic per household anywhere in the US, how is Los Angeles managing parking, I couldn’t see myself living as an Angelino without enjoying garage life”
Great video! Covers different realities of LA … it’s a beautiful place and the diversity of the people is one of the greatest things. It’s a very expensive place and could use much cleaning up for a better quality of life. It’s really gone down the last decade.
Thanks for sharing the real life of L.A. I really liked the way you opened the conversation with the old homeless lady. You are so polite and open-minded
It’s good to see you in my area. It is unfortunate that we have so much homeless people in this city, but I’m hoping we can get it cleaned up before the Olympics in 2028. I believe it will happen.
I get the whole thing, but a mother of four, living on the street and his sons having excuses to not at least find a place for her is just not something I'd buy
Very well said and this is one thing I take pride being Indian where family values, respecting elders are part of our culture. It's gradually diminishing in GenZ but still 80% men look after their aged parents. This is very rare in modern societies. It was so painful to see old lady living on street. She seemed to be a nice soul.
@@braju568 She doesn't even have to live in LA; she's there because has nowhere else to go And if the rest of the four also can't collectively support her in a meaningful way, why are they even in LA? US is vast! Extreme levels of irresponsibility is all.

I love your videos. They always brighten up my days. Thank you.
I’m born and raised here and it has completely changed over the years. I live in West LA and never go to Hollywood anymore if I can help it. It really hasn’t been glamorous since the 1950s. By the 70s-80s it was sleazy, but at least consisted primarily of locals. I can’t believe I’m nostalgic for that period now. I haven’t seen a movie at the Chinese Theater in over 20 years
I'm from Detroit, and when I come to LA a few times a year, I'm almost more scared to be on those streets over Detroit. Sounds crazy, but we don't nearly have the homeless, illegal aliens, and the crime that now plagues LA.
He’s on the Santa Monica Closeup channel too w/ Daisy & John 😅 In this vid he said he ‘ran away from Venice when he was 14 and he’s 23 now’ 😅😅😅 Funny because he’s literally 14 on the run from the cops currently, as we all know from the other video
A lot of homeless and drug-addicted are mentally ill. It takes a lot to afford to get by and many can’t cut it. I used to work with homeless and it’s not always a matter of no resources. Some people just can’t function and other people don’t see that as their responsibility.
That was a beautiful respectful documentary especially from a foreigner showing la in its true unique beautiful light thank you so much for showing la in the most authentic and truest way
I felt so sorry for that poor lady at 18 mins in but I have to ask, what's with the pins in her cheeks ? Are they needles or are her jaws wired or something ?

SoCal is absolutely disgusting these days. Even formerly nice areas like West L.A., Santa Monica, and San Diego have all become inundated with poverty, drugs, homelessness, theft, robberies, etc. The California dream is dead and nobody can convince me otherwise. When a starter home is $750,000, the state is broken. Newsom and Bass are the two worst ‘leaders’ in CA history. 😡
I was fortunate to catch the original video. I feel sad that so many people are in fear or being labeled racist, fascist, etc. I am a native Californian fron the Bay Area and have lived out of state now for twenty years. I lived in the city in the late sixties and seventies. I feel ill when I learn of the degeneration of a once great city that has deteriorated. There has to be consequences for drug dealing and use. When a former supervisor who was certainly not known for being conservative spoke on California insider that she feels afraid to go out of her house today, that speak volumes. when theft becomes so bad that retailers pull out of the cities, we all hurt. Also jobs are lost. I wish people would understand this.
LA/ Long Beach Native. We have to talk about LA county as a whole. Rent control is necessary for the county and neighboring county’s. I own a home in LB but live in the EU. I’m returning for a short time. I miss the weather but all of the people that can’t make it in LA come to Long Beach and disrupting our way of life. I agree with the lady you must stay on the cutting edge. You must, in order to succeed
I'm a native Angeleno, and the homeless problem has a lot to do with the fact that Los Angeles is the greatest city to be homeless in. There's a lot of people that come out here and don't make it. And there's people that fell on hard times. But if you're homeless, it's easier here, and the weather is favorable.
That kid at the skatepark is 14 years old NOT 23 and a menace daisy can not adopt this kid and shes encouraging him to lie to police.why would a 23 yr old be adopted😅
Great video. Something definitely needs to be done about the homeless people who refuse to get help. There’s lots of help for them but in programs they have to actually follow rules and they don’t want to.California needs to start suing other states that keep sending their homeless here.
@@mikebranch7928 Maybe, but you can't deny experience. After my stay there a few years back, it's not a place I would recommend, and I'm from an equally international city.

The Great State of California, under Republican Governor Ronald Reagan, was starlit. Look at it today under "the other side" failing at governance.

Thank you for this intelligent and compassionate look at modern day LA… great work 🙏🏻
Much appreciated 🙏
Malini finally came back to Earth and reality bites. It was a beautiful dream.
Nice comment, but Hollywood is indeed very much a part of the City of LA. It’s Not its own city. It’s a neighborhood
Hola Malini. Esperamos ahora un video sobre San Petersburgo. Pienso visitarla dentro de poco. Abrazos!!!
Hearing that kid was homeless was so sad. People really have no sympathy or understanding why people get to where they are and they just look down
Dont be a chump. He can go to foster care any time he wants. He just doesnt want to.
You deserve more attention and support on your videos Angelica, you doing great, filmography is top notch along with the storytelling 🔝
Thank you so much!!
Thanks for sharing the various layers in the city. I think it has gotten worse over the years and the difference between the haves and have nots is growing.

Thanks Malini, my city definitely has many layers.
Hey, love that your channel is growing and maturing. This one turned out to be less shine and glamour and more down to earth, real life struggles. Keep with the great work!
Thank you so much!
I feel bad for the dog. The dog didn’t ask for that.
Great video
Me encanta Malini

@@maliniangelica1mi novia Angelica u still in Los Angeles come to western and slauson give me a interview
I live in Los Angeles for 43 years and I hate what Politicians have done to state sad😢
I enjoy all of your travel vlogs, but I thought this one was next level - great "reporting" and videography.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 🙏
“I did not realise on the magical land where stars live on the streets of Hollywood Boulevard, there would be such a high homeless problem to rival New York City- which is another mind boggling homeless situation when there’s enough hotel vacancy in the high rises to rid of the issue….California has the most vehicle traffic per household anywhere in the US, how is Los Angeles managing parking, I couldn’t see myself living as an Angelino without enjoying garage life”
My sister works for the LAPD with homeless people most of those people are doing drugs in a very small person have mental problems😢
Excellent coverage 👍❤
Thanks for watching
Pls come to Mulki ,India ❤️
Great video! Covers different realities of LA … it’s a beautiful place and the diversity of the people is one of the greatest things.
It’s a very expensive place and could use much cleaning up for a better quality of life. It’s really gone down the last decade.
*It’s really gone down the last two decades thanks to Democrats and their voters.
No money for that. All goes to Ukraine and Israel
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you 🙏
Natural beauty which has been almost totally destroyed thanks to the greed and corruption at the root of all problems.
Thanks for sharing the real life of L.A. I really liked the way you opened the conversation with the old homeless lady. You are so polite and open-minded
Thank you so much!
Wow the quality of your work is insane!!
Appreciate it!! Thank you 🙏
a very interesting video! I have a lot to learn from you! good luck!
Thank you!
I Like LA for The Huge Ghetto Cali 'Swap Meets' & Thrifting, Huge Asian Supermarkets, Entertainment/Pop ups. & obvi the neon 'Dystopia' 🦾😎🔥🐀
It’s good to see you in my area. It is unfortunate that we have so much homeless people in this city, but I’m hoping we can get it cleaned up before the Olympics in 2028. I believe it will happen.
You are great Malini .

Amazing video by Malini.
Thanks a lot!
@@braju568 She doesn't even have to live in LA; she's there because has nowhere else to go
And if the rest of the four also can't collectively support her in a meaningful way, why are they even in LA? US is vast!
Extreme levels of irresponsibility is all.
Nice analysis bruddha. It's pitiful when I hear of small minded Americans. They don't even know what America is and they live in it. Smh. America is literally a combination of 50 developed countries. @@subutaynoyan5372
You did a good job with this. 68 yr resident of LA...

Yeah that's definitely California i was born i live in a state next door its crazy what has become. Great video btw you seem like a journalist.

Malia. You are such a beautiful woman, with such a positive, uplifting spirit that I think that they could drop you in Chernobyl and you would instantly brighten up the place. You are a genuine person and that comes through in your videos and people respond to that and you can bring out the best in people and shine a light of hope even on people and places that have fallen on hard times.
I haven’t seen a movie at the Chinese Theater in over 20 years
This is a great episode but would also love to see the other sides of LA (poshier one) :)
Positivity gets no views or likes.
Beverly hills?
I'm from Detroit, and when I come to LA a few times a year, I'm almost more scared to be on those streets over Detroit. Sounds crazy, but we don't nearly have the homeless, illegal aliens, and the crime that now plagues LA.
Those illegal aliens are more hardworking than you
Dude you’re full of it, you are from Detroit and you are scared to walk the street in L A, please, get real
Watched the whole video at one go.. Great upload!
Awesome thank you!

Aside from it's problems, Los Angeles is also developing Really Fast! I'm actually quite excited for What's coming!
It’s definitely a very modern city and very innovative, I felt that a lot!
the older woman broke my heart. how can a state / a city with so much wealth not take better care of old, fragile people ?
It’s very sad
A lot of homeless and drug-addicted are mentally ill. It takes a lot to afford to get by and many can’t cut it. I used to work with homeless and it’s not always a matter of no resources. Some people just can’t function and other people don’t see that as their responsibility.
I went to LA to visit back in 2015 and it's sad to hear that it has declined so much. I had a great time out there!
Great video. Good research, good images.
Thank you!

Thank you so much, so glad you enjoy the content 🙏
SoCal is absolutely disgusting these days. Even formerly nice areas like West L.A., Santa Monica, and San Diego have all become inundated with poverty, drugs, homelessness, theft, robberies, etc. The California dream is dead and nobody can convince me otherwise. When a starter home is $750,000, the state is broken. Newsom and Bass are the two worst ‘leaders’ in CA history. 😡
Idk about those other ones, but even with it's problems San Diego is still a vibe 😂
SD is alright for now, it’s just LA and the Bay Area that be on some whacko stuff.
As always. I thoroughly enoyed this.
Thanks a lot Malini, once again!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 🙏
i love the editing and music add to it
I was fortunate to catch the original video.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙏
My understanding of paradise just changed, never knew in paradise there could be so many homeless people...
Thanks for sharing!
Interesting take thank you !
That kid at the skatepark is 14 years old NOT 23 and a menace daisy can not adopt this kid and shes encouraging him to lie to police.why would a 23 yr old be adopted😅

Very good content! Congratulation for this excellent documentary! Greetings from Palma de Mallorca!

$22 for a tostada is laughable. It is a city of opportunity but also just broken in MANY ways. A failed human experience.
Great video. Something definitely needs to be done about the homeless people who refuse to get help. There’s lots of help for them but in programs they have to actually follow rules and they don’t want to.California needs to start suing other states that keep sending their homeless here.
Interesting take on it, thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙏
Born and raised here. Newsome, gascon and other “woke” politicians screwed this place up!
Residents keep voting for this though.
