You Know the Drill (WWE Champion Edition): 0. Stone Cold Steve Austin 1. AJ Styles 2. The Miz 3. Mick Foley 4. Hulk Hogan 5. Diesel 6. Jinder Mahal 7. Randy Savage 8. Triple H 9. The Rock
I love how you were talking about how most of Shane's matches are No Holds Barred, and then you show a picture of his match from WM33, which was technically just an ordinary singles match.
I Didn’t like the way he opened this video. “1999 on the whole wasn’t the strongest year for the WWE.” A very controversial statement to say the least.
Marc John I was there with my dad too (RIP dad)!!! I had a blast being 15 and wearing a Harley Davidson beret like HHH wore back in the day, with my own long blonde hair hanging out :) We were waaay up in the nosebleed section. I was so stoked that so many superstars from the roster at the time were featured (especially my faves the Undertaker and HHH) - and having Ventura there was craaaazy because I'd been good friends w/his campaign manager's kid at Arlington high school. Man... I wish I could rewatch the whole ppv...
Hey Plumpy, just wanted to let you know that when doing #4 You missed a ppv. Armageddon 2003 was also a ppv where all 3 major titles changed hands. All of evolution won gold that night. Flair and Batista beat Dudley boys for tag titles, Randy Orton beat RVD for IC title, and HHH beat Goldberg and Kane for world title.
original plan had for Chyna to go over but then Jesse to refuse to give her the belt by saying, "I hate women and the Chinese. I refuse to count to three." At which point Austin would have hit her from behind with a vending machine he had taken from someone in the crowd. Jesse counts to three and then hugs Austin. True story.
that test/shane match was the best match of the night and certainly a major surprise that made both guys look great. it was better than i thought it would be. test should've been a solid mid-card guy that would've been fun to watch while shane was just fucking awesome.
Politicians going bat shit crazy over Ventura appearing at summerslam 99 and not befitting of the office. Fast forward 18 years and the current president of the United States of America is a WWE hall of famer who helped shave Vince's head and took a stunner at wrestlemania in front of 60,000 + in attendance and millions watching at home!
Yeah the main event of SummerSlam 1999 was kinda a cluster fuck and WWF back in 1999 @ that point already had way too title changes almost boarding on WCW 2000. I would have booked Austin to retain the title @ that SummerSlam and have him keep and then drop it @ Survivor Series 1999 instead but without having him actually drop it himself as I still would have kept the Hit and Run angle because it would have made his 2001 comeback even better as he now would have been on not only a revenge mission but a quest for the title he never lost too. I would have then booked Triple H to win his first and vacated (after Austin's Hit and Run incident) WWF World Championship against The Rock in the Main Event of Survivor Series 1999
It's a bit bizarre seeing myself in the crowd at 18yrs old, going back and watching this. Anyway, an 11th interesting fact is that Zakk Wylde was in attendance during the Shane/Test match (he was originally supposed to be involved with the outcome, but it was nixed at the last minute). I know this because he sat right next to me, behind the MSP couch, and I was markin' due to being a big Ozzy fan, he told me why he was escorted to that seat. Zakk was also in the bar across from the Target Center, who handed Al Snow a bottle to bash the Bossman with.
I was there with my dad - 15 years old - but waaay up in the nosebleed seats in like section 204 or 205. It's awesome to run into someone here on UA-cam that not only was there, but is about my age (so both our memories have that great youthful nostalgic glow) :)
I heard (don't recall where) that Jesse Ventura didn't want to be seen awarding the WWF Championship to a Heel - it would be bad politically for Governor Ventura back home - so that's why Mankind won.
The reason Mankind was added and won is because Stone Cold refused to drop the belt to Triple H, deeming him not in the same league. And he was right. He wasn’t. Of course, that would all change when Triple H destroyed Chyna’s life to hook up with the boss’ Daughter and creative head.
Not just the 3 titles changed hands but all titles changed hands yup wwe title tag team titles Intercontinental & European titles in the same fucking match and the Hardcore title all changed hands at this event
This is why I gotta stop watching these "wrestler experts" or whatever you wanna call them videos. I grew up watching the Attitude Era and every episode of Raw was amazing. Every PPV was amazing. Being a kid watching WWF back then was then. I'm tired of these "facts" about how the storylines were trash or they weren't doing enough etc. The best time of WWE and everyone misses it. Stop shitting on it but acting like you miss it
A few years late but this!!! I'm so tired of the so called experts touting opinions like they are facts. Half if not most of these people weren't even living during the AE. Couldn't experience how mainstream and massively popular it was. Everyone was over af, had star power, the crowds, EVERYBODY at school talking about the show the day after even the damn teachers lol. It was just so entertaining and fun.
You Know the Drill (WWE Champion Edition):
0. Stone Cold Steve Austin
1. AJ Styles
2. The Miz
3. Mick Foley
4. Hulk Hogan
5. Diesel
6. Jinder Mahal
7. Randy Savage
8. Triple H
9. The Rock
No mention of the rock vs mr ass feud/match. Where rock completely destroyed any hope of billy gunn becoming a main eventer.
Imagine if Chyna became WWF Champion at SummerSlam '99. That would have been huge.
i would have sued anything that moved for days if that happened. hahha what a clusterfuck
RIP Crash Holly, aka Mr. 24/7.
As a Minnesotan who attended this PPV, we simultaneously thought it was hilarious and lost our sh*t that Ventura refereed that match.
I love how you were talking about how most of Shane's matches are No Holds Barred, and then you show a picture of his match from WM33, which was technically just an ordinary singles match.
If Eric Bishoff is Adams dad does that make Eugene his cousin
Who else noticed Kevin Nash in the back in the picture of the male strippers?
Polymath Really? I thought they sneaked him in there. Thanks for the info
I did!!
HHH is a legend
I Didn’t like the way he opened this video.
“1999 on the whole wasn’t the strongest year for the WWE.”
A very controversial statement to say the least.
Minnesota native. I had a "my governor can beat up your governor" tshirt
I remember watching this ppv live. This was my favorite era of wrestling. The next night on Raw, Triple H won his first world title.
Crash Holly deserves a spot in the HOF even though he died he's what made the hardcore title great
THAT WWE SHOW agreed! 💯%
THAT WWE SHOW big time. Little Elroy Jetson.
I was at this Summerslam with my dad. It was awesome, I remember being a big fan of The Acolytes and being stoked that they won.
Marc John I was there with my dad too (RIP dad)!!! I had a blast being 15 and wearing a Harley Davidson beret like HHH wore back in the day, with my own long blonde hair hanging out :) We were waaay up in the nosebleed section.

I think he's only counting the WWE Championship for the trifecta, not the World Heavyweight Championship.
original plan had for Chyna to go over but then Jesse to refuse to give her the belt by saying, "I hate women and the Chinese. I refuse to count to three." At which point Austin would have hit her from behind with a vending machine he had taken from someone in the crowd. Jesse counts to three and then hugs Austin. True story.
Mark Mccallum A hole fucking vending machine?
I literally doubled over laughing at the idea of Austin taking a vending machine from a fan.
These comments sections are getting worse with each passing SummerSlam.
Fascinating Fact: The bar where Al Snow defeated the Boss Man for the Hardcore title is now a strip club
that test/shane match was the best match of the night and certainly a major surprise that made both guys look great. it was better than i thought it would be. test should've been a solid mid-card guy that would've been fun to watch while shane was just fucking awesome.

The current RAW current tag team championship isn't a continuation of the WWF tag team championship. That's WWE's own canon.
1999 was a good year
Nice vid Adam
Triple H before mid 1999 was the most boring, terrible over pushed wrestler, he was worse then billy gunn. Triple h was terible
4:06 Happened at mania this year.
Universal
WWE World
Raw Tag
IC
I really enjoyed that Mean Street Posse angle. I don't know why I often forget about those dudes.
1999 wasn't the strongest year for WWE... yeah whatever you say
Next is Summerslam 2000. One of the wildest Slams ever.
I'm still waiting of the "Fascinating facts about Survivor Series and Royal Rumble"
Ser Arthur Dayne and you know Justin Henry aka Sexy Justin will deliver
Dont let this distract you from the fact that Matt Hardy still isnt broken
Since he wasn't broken when he returned, I guess you could call him Repaired Matt Hardy (sorry, horrible joke. couldn't resist)
Nonstop Heel #PushCesaro #BuryBayley #BuryRoman Look at his twitter, you mark

I think Stone Cold should of dropped the title to Triple H that night. It would of made more sense in my opinion.
1998 1999 were the 2 best years
*Jericho debut was one of the best*
*believe that*
Yeah i take that line from roman
Jesse Ventura is the GOAT. Navy SEAL, governor, and WWE Wrestler.
Andy Brown also guy who was in the good prediter film
Plumpy is best
I tell ya the WWE title was all over the place during the summer of 1999😂😂😂😂
It's a bit bizarre seeing myself in the crowd at 18yrs old, going back and watching this.

NAC That's awesome!

I believe Austin referenced HHH having to pick him out of the ropes like saving a kitten from a tree 😆
Extra fact- X-pac's Mum, or Gran, got hit with a tomato thrown by a fan during his and Kane's match against Taker/Big Show.
I heard (don't recall where) that Jesse Ventura didn't want to be seen awarding the WWF Championship to a Heel - it would be bad politically for Governor Ventura back home - so that's why Mankind won.
I legit never heard of "Super Astros" before this video.
Why there isn't anything of Kane?
he would return and wreck havoc if spoken of
I didn't realized and remember that there were three title changes in this SS event.
My first wrestling show, this made me a fan
If Jinder Mahal beats Nakamura at Summerslam, I'll tweet my displeasure.
First ppv I ever watched, sky sports 1 12:00am
6:46 I hate that somebody photoshopped the F off of Mean Gene's jacket patch!
Plumpy = Mumblemaster Supreme. Make that his next name to introduce himself with if he loses the next wrestlemania bet.
The reason Mankind was added and won is because Stone Cold refused to drop the belt to Triple H, deeming him not in the same league. And he was right. He wasn’t. Of course, that would all change when Triple H destroyed Chyna’s life to hook up with the boss’ Daughter and creative head.
Yeah, summerslam hates Steve Austin
Frank Reynolds 0:14 always sunny in Philadelphia
I was at SummerSlam ‘99 along the entryway lol it was awesome, I was like in 7th grade
I remember this PPV! I ate 3 boxes of jerkey and drank 4 L of Lakewater.
HooOoOooOoooah!
I like the elevator music. What's the name or where can I find it?
It was also the end of the smoking skull belt 😭
This is also the PPV where Kane debuted his inverted attire right?
MANDKIND won the CHAMPIONSHIP in the MAIN EVENT of SUMMERSLAM ❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
This was one of the best ppv
One thing about the attitude era they could overcome bad booking easily
Wwe and politics, hahaha no way....
**See's on the news that Kane is the mayor of Nashville**
"What?"
I can't wait until John Morrisons return at summer slam it's gonna be awesome
Summer slam hates Austin
He missed it was the last summerslam of the 90s
Vince Russo left, it's not that they went crazy with the storylines.
Wait, so the good part of the attitude era only lasted 1 year?
I actually was at that PPV I also remember the Hardcore Title changed to. I also knew the lady in the Kiss my ass match she was also known as Mrs Ass.
D Lo Brown..wow i haven't heard that name in years
Is it just me or is this really quiet?
I was at the Raw the next night where Triple H won the title.
Not just the 3 titles changed hands but all titles changed hands yup wwe title tag team titles Intercontinental & European titles in the same fucking match and the Hardcore title all changed hands at this event
Summerslam 3
Austin 0
Crash holly is the Houdini of hardcore.
So... Henry didn't win the belts on the PPV? Why is this part of the PPVs list?
Am I the only one wondering what WWE will do with Jinder Mahal after he loses the WWE Championship?
alphadogg64 Nothing. They might do nothing after he loses the championship
He may have a rematch or two but yeah, evil foreign heel who hates America" usually fizzles out sooner or later and that person is left floundering.
asian kane
You know not one of those stock photos of 1999 tag teams were from 1999?
Ciaran Murren cry
Interesting facts.
I was so hype when Mick won that match.
Then........instant disappointment when Triple Douche won it the next night.
the volume is so low
