Happy Valentines day doccy who 🏳️🌈
Even though Yasmin Khan may not be everyone's favourite doctor who companion but they can't deny that Mandip Gill was putting her efforts into the role.
I loved yaz and the doctor
My favourites were Donna and Yaz
She was my fav 🤷🏼♀️
@@emeraldstar373 I'm a clara and Yaz type man myself. Mainly because i have a huge crush on both but i think they complimented the doctor the best in my eyes. Along with rose.
@@jeremiahyoung4617 I love Clara nad Yaz too and I have a crush on both of them as well.
My favorite TARDIS team would be Thirteen, Yaz and Clara! I'd love to travel with those three! 🥰
‘is it that obvious’
yes yaz yes it is
What started as a friendship turned into something more. It's always common to have feelings for someone you never expected to have till someone says it. Both Yaz and The Doctor since they first met were friends but after everything they've been through together, they were bound to feel something for each other and Dan saw that and told both and both shocked and realised that they do care for each other. Obviously bad luck the writer did this close to the end, but these things tend to happen at the worst moments and the right moments.
To be fair, they were supposed to have at least 10 one hour episodes for flux that I'm sure would've delved more into their feelings, however I like the mystery to it and seeing it from the beginning with yaz's mum calling them out for it. Then yaz watching the doc recording over and over for 5 years, her feelings would undoubtedly grow, as we see in this episode, even Dan noticed it in flux over those 5 years. I think it's a special relationship they share, and I feel different to others since usually the companions are all over the doc but yaz hid her feelings well,
@@charlespettit7149 Yeah if they did it with 10 episodes then maybe it definitely would've made things better for them and its definitely why I believe Yaz is the One for The Doctor but unlike the others (Rose, Sarah, Clara, Amy etc) The Doctor wanted to be with Yaz but couldn't because she was afraid she'll lose her and Yaz hid her feelings because she was unsure about what she was feeling, hence why she said to Dan "I've never told anyone. Not even myself" and it took me a while to figure out that she was actually talking about her sexuality. Which I think it's important because if The Doctor was a male then Yaz wouldn't have any problems admitting her feelings to The Doctor but because it's a female, it adds more drama and mystery. I truly hope somewhere in the near future they'll bring Jodie and Mandip back for maybe 1 or 2 more seasons and have a proper ending to their story.
Mandip acted this so beautifully. The slight way her eyes widened when dan called her out on it, the not even admitting it to herself...a beautiful scene, I'm very glad they didn't just leave it unsaid.

Almost every Doctor has had a Companion (or more than one) fall in love with them. Especially Pertwee and Baker.
I am glad they addressed this, cause there have been hits since at least series 11 , especially with that conversation in the hunting of Villa Diodati.
Having a second companion is great cause they argue and point things out that the first one may not address happened with nardole and rory really balances the dynamics.
I saw Yaz and 13’s romance coming a long time! So satisfying! 😁
It has been confirmed that the Doctor/Yaz romance wasn’t planned, and was only implemented in the series 13 reshoots
@@snee2232 actually, Jodie specifically campaigned for it from season 12, and Mandip went back through the script for season 11 to start developing that relationship in that way as “naturally” as possible. This was confirmed at Gallifrey One and LCC Spring by Mandip herself and Matt Strevens :)
@@snee2232 Where was this confirmed? Cause At Gallifrey One Matt Strevens and Mandip confirmed that it's been around since at least series 12, as it was after series 11 that Jodie went to Chibnall about it.
In addition to this Chibnall himself confirmed everything post series 12 was intentional
@@DoctorWhoHugh literally in arachnids, one of the first episodes, yaz's mum asks if they are dating. The first thing she asks basically. It's been hinted back as far as that. Also, yaz wanted to see more. And she saw more than she ever could. Of course you'd fall in love with the person that made your dreams come true
I’ve never clicked on a video more faster in my life
Mandip nailed this beautifully. You can feel her love for The Doctor. I really hope they share a moment of love together before the regeneration. Only because I adore Jodie and Mandip together.
So do i
Same
Same. Mandip was brilliant in these scenes. And I’m so glad they addressed it because it truly does mean a lot to ppl who see themselves represented by her
I hope they don't kill her off
To be fair, that seems to be Mandip's friendship dynamic with Jodie.
“I waited far too long to tell someone I liked them...then the universe ended.”
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a slow burn done this well and realistically on a screen. Over multiple seasons, the Tardis team portrayed EXACTLY how it feels. Super subtle looks and sudden outbursts of emotion. Greatest of all time 🙌🏿
Thank you for this Thasmin content on this Valentine’s Day
@Michael hows the gate you’re keeping there?
It's... harder than you would think to admit to yourself your own sexuality. Even being asexual/aromantic myself, which is kind of the most innocuous of orientations (because let's face it; not too many people really care if you simply don't have any interest in romance or sex), it took... all of high school plus many years afterwards for me to accept that's who I am. It sounds weird, but there was a lot of "I'm sure something will just click into place eventually, one way or another" and it never did.
So yeah, touching scene. Meaningful.
Like it or Hate it, we have to admit that Yaz’s love for the Doctor was subtle and actually developed more and more as they travelled together and I’m glad it was done that way. Now does the Doctor share the same feelings? Will she tell Yaz that her time is near her end? I personally don’t think the Doctor loves Yaz (as a friend absolutely but not lover) and I’m certain the last thing she wants is to hurt her friend 😞💙
Plus if the relation have a bad ending like Rose or River Song ;-; but yeah I was happy that Dan forced her to tell her feelings ;w;
Yeah, I would not like it if the doctor shared the same feeling as yaz, since he is still in fact married to river (I know she’s dead, but still, that was truer love then he ever felt with rose)
Yeah. Say what will about Yasmin Khan but the actress Mandip Gill is trying to give it her All.
@@benmiller3252 oh definitely, the actors are great, It’s just the horrible writing they have to deal with.
@@creepykidandinfinitedreams2987 I do feel Bad for Mandip Gill it's just the writing didn't do her character any favour

@@Filip97X Black guys?
And that’s cause Donna’s only into humans and sometimes would poke fun of The Doctor’s looks 😂

i'm still so happy they full on unambiguously said it on screen, i didn't dare hope they would. even if it ends sadly (which i hope not, but there isn't exactly a track record of the doctor's love interests getting to stay with them and be happy) there is absolutely no denying that there are romantic feelings between them. and it makes me so so happy to see a slowburn wlw romance like this, those are essentially nonexistent.
also BIG round of applause for dan, i admit i was one of the thasmin shippers that thought he was going to come between them when he was first announced, but then he ended up being the biggest shipper of all lmao
As a gay person, kinda sucks having my sexuality be fodder for a contrived last-minute plot twist that had no intention of being anything other than fan service for the superficial and shallow Twitter stans.
Same!! Being queer and someone that enjoys the _incredible_ chemistry of Mandip & Jodie, I naturally became a huge Thasmin shipper but I was also worried they'd quietly brush over it and have Dan be the new exciting thing to focus on so we all forget about them...
Can't believe they actually adressed it!🥳🏳️🌈🥰💙💙
@@roguexxrenegade i get where you're coming from, but i really don't think it was last minute at all. there's been plenty of subtext, and while a lot of it's been subtle, there have been some pretty big clues too. like that one episode in s12 where yaz was talking to the woman who was in love with byron (name escapes me atm) about how she can't figure out if byron returns her feelings, and yaz relates to her by talking about someone who's obviously the doctor, and i really don't see a way to read a scene like that platonically lol. i mean it's possible that the decision to actually make it canon might not have been planned from the beginning, but chibs wouldn't just be pulling it from his ass
@@roguexxrenegade "Superficial and shallow"... oh my so edgy and deep you are. You might find this contrived "fan service", I get you aren't feeling it, I'm also not sure what you're saying about "authentic" sexuality lmao. Definitely true the wlw has been handled with kid gloves compared to all the heterosexuality, it's not great but it's still at least pushing the envelope somewhat with audiences (low bar though it is and shouldn't be).
@@snokful If it’s shoehorned in with two episodes to spare before the era ends with 3 series behind it void of any decent characterization or fleshing out, then yes it’s clearly done for fan service rather than telling a decent gay love story.
This is not ‘pushing the envelope’. This is not decent representation. Bill was literally the last companion before this era began. The road has already been paved for decent gay stories to enter into the story since Series 1. And it has been. This last-minute contrived gay revelation in the eleventh hour with all of 2 episodes to spare is not a decent gay story. It’s a plot device.
I’m not edgy or deep because I have a basic understanding of words and know how to use them. This is not the flex you think it is.
We shouldn’t have to settle for the bare minimum representation where our sexuality is used as a plot device rather than part of the fiber of a well-written character.
That’s what I mean by “authentic” sexuality.
@3:51
The look of someone who, once again, has been confronted with the truth that they never wanted to face again.
This was actually a pretty awesome Dalek moment. The kind of scene I'd expect from the RtD era.
One of them is afraid that she could jeopardize the status-quo of her relationship by confessing her feelings, and the other is so weighed down by her painful memories and the idea that her regenerative immortality could mean she outlives another lover to acknowledging the former's feelings. Whether this works out of not is rather dependent on whether they decide to take a leap of faith... again for the Doctor.
I think another reason for Thirteen and Yaz's rocky feelings is because of Rose, Martha, Donna, Amy, Clara, River and Bill.
She doesn't want to lose another loved one like she lost them.
"I was a dad once" 😕
OF COURSE YOU POSTED THIS CLIP TODAY, THANK YOU.
I am so happy that Yaz being in love with the Doctor has finally been confirmed and I hope she tells the Doctor before the end.
*Darlig Beach flashback*
As if I wasn't gonna bawl enough when 13 regenerates but now their tragic love story... worth it
If she dosn't, we riot
I think it would be really heartbreaking, but totally awesome, to have Yaz admit her feelings before the doctor "dies" (I don't remember if Yaz knows of the doctor's regenerative process, but this would be nice). And with the 14th doctor, they travel a bit for a few episodes, she realises that she fell out of love and feels uncomfortable around the doctor, thus leaving them. I think that would be an incredible, but devastating, sendoff.
@@danielbennett3345 also dont forget that the doctor will regenerate into a man again so that also might affect her relationship with the doctor greatly
With the way The Doctor treats Yasmine I hope the writers have enough respect for her character to have her pull a Martha Jones and leave her.
i would hope so too but the show never seems to acknowledge how awfully 13 behaves.
@@WalrusisintheMatrix doesn't it? Yaz and the gang called out the Doctor quite a few times for how she was treating her companions, like when she yelled at Ryan. Heck, the musical and visual cues make it pretty clear when 13 was in the wrong too.
Agreed. This incarnation is so hands off, snaps at Yaz. Any reciprocation is unconvincing. If Yaz had an once of self respect she should leave & find someone who will treat her better.
@@theguywithsomething8634 13th still brushed them aside and when cornered snaps like a terrier. She can't even be honest with Graham over his cancer fears. The trouble with 13th she is the most passive of Doctors she being paired with passive companions makes for little dynamics. Yaz wasn't empowered and it took a MAN (Dan) to push her. Dan treated Yaz better than this Doctor.
@@einezcrespo2107 its what the doctor qlways does
this altered my brain chemistry
No one
Literally no one
Me: the shock when yaz witnesses her regenerate into a male
I want to see his face in that moment
I think there is actually a scene where the Doctor mentions she was a man and Yaz looks disgusted 😂😂😂
*"Do you still love me Yazmine Khan?? Eh? EH????"*
“You’re just not the woman I fell in love with”
Plenty of people stay with their partners after they gender transition, helps if you're bi/pan though! If the new regen dude was halfway dishy in Yaz's eyes that would help, 12's visible age was a bit of an issue for Clara, whereas 10 was definitely an upgrade for Rose.
Yaz is one of three woman who loved the Doctor and the three woman are as follows: Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, and River Song and look what happened to them. So all I am saying is that Yaz better be careful because loving the Doctor comes at much too high a price.
You named three people who weren’t Yaz. So that makes it four
@@Adam-vd7op I meant for people to add Yaz to that group who loved the Doctor which does make it four. But you have to admit that something bad does always happen to the women that love the Doctor. Minus Sarah Jane Smith who adopted a son and who had awesome adventures. R.I.P Elisabeth Sladen.
Well I can’t blame Doctor for her behavior, she lost Rose, River Song and probably Susan’s grandmother who was his first wife, so it’s clear that despite her mutual feelings for Yaz she know that she will lose her too.
And the immortality ain't doing her any favors...
Not just Rose and River, but also Martha, Donna, Amy, Clara and Bill. 😢

I actually think the only problem with this is... It's a bit late? Like they definitely should have had this scene happen during the Flux season imo
Every time I see this scene acknowledged by the official Doctor Who social media accounts I cry, because it means the world to me that my favourite TV show is acknowledging my existence as a sapphic woman. So thank you Doctor Who. 💙💙💙

Tuly: wow.
And of course they had the usual chibnal-hubris to make the Doctor

1:47 I love when the daleks just wait there, it calls back to Davros in series 9, they can kill you whenever, but they want you to react, see the fear in their prey before they exterminate you.
This has been a rough couple days for me but seeing this made it that much better 💙💙
This moment 💙 but also Mandip Gill’s performance in that scene.
This is just gonna end in heartbreak, isn’t it?
3 years of seeing the signs to hope 😭 that the series continues in this direction and finally we have Thasmin. Dan is a real cupid a confidant a big brother for Yaz 💙 . I shed so many tears 😢 in front of this scene finally Yaz opens up and allows himself to think about his feelings for 13 . The end of the episode shows that 13 loves her too but she thinks about regeneration 😭 and suffers. I hope in the last two episodes they will have their moment on the beach ❤ they will confess their feelings and kiss each other.
This whole thing will always make me feel sad, because we know why the Doctor is lying to herself about it and not talking to Yaz about their feelings. She's lost so many she's loved over the many years and she doesn't want to put Yaz through it. Just imagine if in the next episode and the Doctor has to tell Yaz about rose, about river and even Sarah Jane, unless something very clever happens it is going to be sad. :'(

This was so beautiful and I just love the complexity of it! ❤ I am so happy for everyone who already feels represented by Yaz, but I also just generally love how this has been handled all along. It was a gradual change with Yaz growing closer and closer to the Doctor throughout her run and for me this is such a welcome change from the rather classic love story we had with Rose, or the kind of self-fulfilling prophecy we saw with River. The only thing that hurts is that this is likely doomed to end in heartbreak sooner rather than later, considering it's not just Jodie who is leaving but basically the entire team, too. And somehow I don't think RTD will adopt any characters from this current era (simply because he's got his own vision of what he wants to tell, and he writes characters in his own unique way so I think like every showrunner before him he'll create his own set of characters instead of having to try and stick to someone ele's - in this case Chibnall's - character design).
