@Michael everyone has their own view and I liked it. You are free to like or dislike this scene or the 13th Doctor however you want, just as I am as well
So many companions over the years end up becoming a big part of the universe only to later suffer terrible fates. Rose Tyler becomes Embodiment of Bad Wolf only to save the doctor but later gets trapped in another dimension forever Along with mom and Mickey because they tried all too hard to stay. Jack Becomes the immortal leader of torchwood and live for over 5 billion years only to become reduced to the face of boe but in the end he uses his remaining energy to save millions of lives Amy and Rory become the parents of River Song only to later get trapped in the past forever because like Rose they tried too hard to stay with the doctor. Clara Oswald becomes "The Impossible girl" only to later sacrifice herself to save the doctor but later gets pulled out of her own timeline to escape her fate but for some reason has to wiped the doctor's memory of her. And we'll never get to see what adventures Clara will have in her own tardis, Bill Pots... well she unexpectedly became the first cyberman Anyway it feels so much better when the doctor can just have some good company and just say goodbye the normal way.
I really wish they kept the footage of the Doctor and Yaz hugging on the TARDIS roof before parting ways. But still, their final moments together really broke my heart.
I must mention how emotional Segun Akinola’s score is here! One of my favourite pieces of the era, which I’m positive will be included on TPOTD soundtrack coming out on the 16th! 🎧 It’s also one of my favourite scenes of the episode as well. Yaz’s reaction makes the scene all that more moving 😢 Why does it make sense for Yaz to leave here? Because no matter who The Doctor regenerates into, Yaz’s “Doctor” will be gone, and the pain would be too hard to bear for her seeing someone else in 13’s place! 😔 It’s not one of the worst exits, but it works well enough!
is she referencing something we've seen before when she says "A wise person once said to me, 'Goodbyes only hurt because what came before was so special?''"
I really hope Yaz shows up once more at least as closure if Yaz doesn’t return as a companion, like if Yaz was way too attached to the 13th, it hurts too much to follow a new incarnation.
This scene in the TARDIS makes you cry everytime. It's wonderful that she stayed on for all of the Doctor's episodes, but seeing her Doctor die is truly sad. Edit: Or i'm just a baby
Yaz wasn't my favourite and I never liked the arc the writers went with her for the doctor, but I do think her ending is really good. It made it seem like she got over her love for the doctor, or accepted that it'd never work out, especially after the regeneration. This episode actually made me like Yaz a little more.
A detail I like is that The Doctor's ice cream flavour is Mint-Choc-Chip, a combination of two flavours, symbolising the transition between her and the next Doctor.
I tried to keep myself together during this scene but seeing Yas's reaction to the regeneration energy coming off of the Doctor just made me lose it and start crying😭
Nobody else got to be us. Nobody else got to live our days. Nobody. And my hearts are so full of love for all of you. I have loved being with you Yas. And I have loved being me. If you reword that slightly and remove the references to Yas and two hearts then that would be a brilliant quote to live by. I adore Jodie’s delivery
Except, Jodie could legitimately say "hearts"; she was pregnant when they filmed this. Unlike any other Doctor actor, she really did have two hearts within her :)
As underwhelming as Yaz's exit was, it leaves the door wide open for her to come back at any point, and I hope she makes a return possibly to meet Ncuti or another future doctor
Jodie and Mandip rocked this scene and Yaz’ departure is a paragon of bittersweet and I legit believe The Doctor did want Yaz to see the regeneration and put her through the pain of seeing her friend figuratively die
This broke me. They were a perfect team. I had absolutely nothing against the others, but IMHO it would have been better throughout if they popped in on occasion for when the story required more people (maybe they'd be off doing grandpa/grandson things in the case of Graham and Ryan), because these two ladies absolutely nailed it, no matter how bad the writing (not in this scene, it was perfect!)
Jodie and Mandip were magic together. Jodie's run as The Doctor was such a phenomenal, and fun experience for the ages. Her, and Tom Baker are Doctor Who for me. We'll miss you, Jodie, Mandip and the rest of #TeamFam
@@tokublwhovian He’s even started posting his stock opening phrase on my videos that have literally no DW conversation whatsoever; genuinely worrying how obsessed he is!
I have a lot of issues with this scenes as a whole. But I do like the parallels to The Doctor and Rory's dad in season 7. With the tardis overlooking earth.
A sweet understated goodbye. I know alot of people prefer more somber and tragic companion departures, however I feel that it's good to shake it up to avoid fatigue.
I was so sad watching this Jodie Whittaker has been a great doctor and has inspired me that even though I'm a girl I can do anything!!! I recently played football and was the only girl but I kept thinking to myself wwtdd
They could have really fixed this scene if they took Stubagful's advice and threw in a line for Yaz where she said she didn't want to travel with any Doctor but her.
I can partially understand why they didn't go forth with the romance between The Doctor and Yaz because when you think back to Rose, Amy and Clara they all loved their Doctors but neither survived the whole journey with The Doctor but Yaz has. But because she has, it makes The Doctor more afraid that finally someone The Doctor loved has actually survived but won't have more time with her. Yaz will be known as the person that loved The Doctor and survived. I truly hope that maybe in a couple of years, they'll have Jodie come back as The Doctor since it was said that she loved to come back in the future and hopefully Mandip as well as Yaz again
The Doctor can't blame Yaz for crying when they heard the cloister bell ringing and that the Doctor's hand was glowing because she was going to regenerate on account of the Master, who shot her in revenge for foiling his latest scheme, though the Doctor managed to prevent it long enough until she was alone after dropping Yaz off to England.
I’m not the biggest fan of Yaz but this exit is so ridiculous and unbelievable. We have seen multiple instances where yaz is clearly very loyal to the Doctor, when the doctor was in prison graham and Ryan gave up and moved on. Yaz didn’t. When the doctor says she’s going to sacrifice herself in the series 12 finale, no one stops her. Yaz does, she grabs her. So I do not buy for a second that all of a sudden Yaz would be so willing to just leave the Tardis team. Especially considering that in the first episode of this era she said she wanted more, she wants to achieve more. Why would she stop travelling with the Doctor? I don’t get itZ
Yaz did fall in love with the 13th incarnation, it would probably be too sad to watch her regenerate into the 14th doctor because essentially she’d watch her doctor die and turn into a new man, but hey that’s just my thoughts on it 🫡
Why would the Doctor push Yaz away? The Doctor has never pushed away a companion before regenerating. It looks to me like Davies just didn't want Yaz on the roster for his second run. I don't really think much of Yaz as a character, so I can't disagree with him there. But her exit should have been handled better. Dan's exit made sense. Yaz's didn't.
The TARDIS couldn't get Sarah Jane to Croydon but it took everyone else "home" to Croydon. Nice little throwback to Sarah Jane Smith
Actress of Sarah Jane Smith is dead but Russell would make Luke to become the doctor's companion

Me to❤
2:55 I never realized she said “Hearts”, that’s great attention to detail-
I tried to keep myself together during this scene but seeing Yas's reaction to the regeneration energy coming off of the Doctor just made me lose it and start crying😭
Me to it is like heart break 💔😭 for them
I almost threw something at the tv
Nobody else got to be us. Nobody else got to live our days. Nobody. And my hearts are so full of love for all of you. I have loved being with you Yas. And I have loved being me.
If you reword that slightly and remove the references to Yas and two hearts then that would be a brilliant quote to live by. I adore Jodie’s delivery
Except, Jodie could legitimately say "hearts"; she was pregnant when they filmed this. Unlike any other Doctor actor, she really did have two hearts within her :)
This scene hurts my heart every time. Its so real and it feels so sad. I didnt want her time to end either
As underwhelming as Yaz's exit was, it leaves the door wide open for her to come back at any point, and I hope she makes a return possibly to meet Ncuti or another future doctor
Meet... David Tennant! That'd be weird!
The thing is as a long term doctor who fan I know mandip will probably come back in a later season in some special
I love that Yaz managed to get them all back to Croydon, echoing Four and Sara Jane.
Sutekh: 😐
Jodie and Mandip rocked this scene and Yaz’ departure is a paragon of bittersweet and I legit believe The Doctor did want Yaz to see the regeneration and put her through the pain of seeing her friend figuratively die

Sutekh crying as he witnesses heartbreak
1:40 The Doctor is crying.
10 cried too but maybe it reflects the fact she’s a she as girls tend to cry more
Going miss jodies doctor
Same. She was wonderful
@@vwtaigo2003 really?
Same here ❤❤
@@futskipper9960 If you don't like the 13th Doctor, than get lost
@@vwtaigo2003 I think we can all have opinions, don't be fascist like
When she said that goodbyes only hurt that is true because the doctor Hates goodbyes. The beginning of the 13th doctors theme is a bit haunting
There was no reason Jas couldn't stay with the next Doctor apart from the real world reason of changing of the guard
My fav doctor ever ❤
Jodie and Mandip were magic together. Jodie's run as The Doctor was such a phenomenal, and fun experience for the ages. Her, and Tom Baker are Doctor Who for me. We'll miss you, Jodie, Mandip and the rest of #TeamFam
Definitely gonna miss them.
@Michael imagine being so far up your own backside that you have to stalk others, couldn’t be me…
@@tokublwhovian He’s even started posting his stock opening phrase on my videos that have literally no DW conversation whatsoever; genuinely worrying how obsessed he is!
@@DrWhoFanJ I recommend getting them done for harassment and stalking.
@@tokublwhovian I have. Many times. He just spins up a new account and starts again.
I didn’t want her to go. Not been this sad since Tennant first left.
@Michael Nope. That’s you.
“Since Tennant first left”
Oh God, that’s a conversation now
I was so sad watching this Jodie Whittaker has been a great doctor and has inspired me that even though I'm a girl I can do anything!!! I recently played football and was the only girl but I kept thinking to myself wwtdd
They could have really fixed this scene if they took Stubagful's advice and threw in a line for Yaz where she said she didn't want to travel with any Doctor but her.
1:23
I can't look at this without being:
a) heartbroken and feeling sorry for Yaz
b) emotional
Edit: Unless im the only one and im a baby
0:29 - xD
Always Croyden...
Shame this was their last date
Whitaker is a good actor and I like her, she just wasn't weird enough to be the Doctor.
I miss jodies doctor but I can't wait to watch to david Tennant as the doctor next year
I’m not the biggest fan of Yaz but this exit is so ridiculous and unbelievable.
Yaz did fall in love with the 13th incarnation, it would probably be too sad to watch her regenerate into the 14th doctor because essentially she’d watch her doctor die and turn into a new man, but hey that’s just my thoughts on it 🫡
There have been worse exits in this show over the decades that didn't make sense either.
I agree!
When the Blue Police Box shows up by your house, and the Doctor invites you in...........
I wish their relationship had been built organically through the writing so this moment would have more emotional weight
I cant wait to move forward, and see what lies ahead!
Tbh, Jodie Whittaker did an amazing job as the doctor. She just needed a better writer
Yaz's didn't.
agreed, especially since they hinted at a romantic thing... which just kind of disappeared?
Is it mad that I like jodies TARDIS and I'm gonna miss it but I am looking forward to see 14s & 15s interior
Welp gonna cry again
The music acting is just so beautiful wanna cry
@Michael Nah, that’s you.
Wish all of Jodies episodes was as good as this
I loved it
