I wonder why they never map the omnibus in the order of how the single issues originally came out. It would be the way it was originally meant to be read.
Because the content is first cobbled together and placed in digital files for the individual tpbs. They then take these files and combine them w others for the Omni. I’m guessing that due to cost, the extra effort needed, the probability of making a big mistake, etc- the reading order takes a back seat unfortunately.

I always wait to see Omar's videos before making a purchase. He brings the most in depth and knowledge dropping videos when it comes to collected editions (we need to get this man reading single issues again! He would destroy the competition of YT that can't keep their wiki entries straight). I'm sold on this omnibus. It looks phenomenal.
I don’t know an Omnibus collecting an event with tie ins that do present in reading order. Especially since most tie ins are non essential to the story. I have the World War Hulk Omnibus which does the main story then all the tie ins, it’s not hard to know where in the story the tie ins fit and the tie ins don’t present any critical information to the story, mostly just neat side stories. Some of the tie ins are down right useless and I’m glad they aren’t in reading order as it would break up a good story with crap.
I’m dissapointed.. Not all of the tie-ins need to be in a ”correct” reading order. But the Absolute Carnage and Venom issues is an absolute must to jump between when you read. Both was written by Cates and was made to be read in a specific order. This omnibus reading experience will be like skipping key chapters in a book left and right. Omar you need to talk with David about this. This has to stop.
Love how this omnibus looks. The spine is dope. I preordered this omnibus through my LCS. Great story. I have it in singles as well. Omar, great work my dude.
Definitely looking forward to picking this up and reading it. Shame about the mapping, though. I don’t really get the logic behind mapping it to where you have to jump around within the book. I thought that was a big selling point of the omnibus format was to have a whole story and in the correct reading order. If someone was just interested in reading the main series... they could just read the trade and save their time and $.
I know i'm in the minority, but i actually love the way that this book is layed out! I want to read the 3 issue minis all at once, and not scattered all over the place.
Stegman has been producing top quality work for years, but he really took it to the next level with this series/Venom run in general. This book design is absolutely gorgeous. Love the blood red dust jacket, spine, and bookend pages... and that wraparound cover printing. Heart eye emoji.
This is my most anticipated omni, I'm not a massive collector but I'm such a huge symbiote fan. Love the folk that out this together. TYSM! As always I loved the in-depth review as well Omar! (I also have it on pre-order for the 23rd! And very excited for king in black)
I was going to buy this books even preordered it for over 6 months but had cold feet and changed my mind because i didn't think the tie ins sounded as good.. It looks like a nice book but i think you are right Omar the omnibus does look slightly thinner than normal plus i think i would've preferred them mixing the tie ins with the main event but thats just me.. Instead I brought the panini absolute carnage paperback and the ohc donny Cates venom volume 2 which is out next year. Another great breakdown👍

Hi Omar. I’ve been a huge fan of carnage, venom, spidey since they started. I haven’t read the newest books. So I picked up every trade of venom from cates, every ASM trade from spencer, and pre ordered this absolute carnage omnibus. Thanks for the overview, I can’t wait to read it all.

Couple of questions: do you think the main story will be collected in a future Cates Omni, or like War of the Realms, separate? And second, you mentioned that you’ll get more out of this if you’ve read Maximum Carnage - is that the one from the 90s?!

I have all the individual issues and about 70% of the variants and due to the pandemic I just have not got round to reading it. That's going to change because its spidey. I am intrigued as well if silver surfer is mentioned being as the symbiot also bonded for an issue in asm. Great vid and excelsior omar. Love it :-)

Cool overview of Absolute Carnage. I already have the Trade paperback version of the event and the miles Morales tie-in book. While looking on barnes and noble I saw that marvel is making a Empyre omnibus. The book costs $125.00 and it's released on May 11,2021
Not sure why people are complaining about the reading order as most event Omnibuses do this. The vast majority of tie in comics are useless to the main story and just act as neat side story padding to suck more money out of people. Personally I have no issue reading tie ins after the main event as it’s easy to see where they fit in and again never present critical information or events to the main story, though some exceptions exist like in Dark Nights Metal where a key villain dies in a tie in.
Not much of a Carnage man, but curious as to what the story is about as I missed the whole event. And now that I'm into building my omni library, how can I skip this? Dammit! Omnis are my new kryptonite.
It's a shame this didn't include the Venom issues and call it the Knull Omnibus, or Venom and Carnage or something. I don't really want the Venom OHC plus an omni.

Actually, the idea and first appearance of Knull was in Thor: God of Thunder. Jason Aaron planted that story line deep in the God Bomb story line of Thor: God of Thunder. And Donny Cates is writing the current run of Thor, which is definitely going to somehow mention or connect to the Knull stuff.

The art is awesome in this series but I was never a fan of the symbiotes. I read the series thanks to my local library but I won't be adding it to my collection but if you love venom or carnage, it's a must have.

Also optional get the venom unleashed paperback as it includes some oneshots which flesh out some things.
