@Bruce Armani i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Amazing video!👍👏 I just began my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They have an incredible range of digital comics for every genre, including the hard to find ones. Lifetime updates too!😁
So...reading these in order would be a pretty good way to get to grips with the entire history of the Marvel Universe from copper age up to present day? Nice to see how they all fit together!
There is actually a slight mistake in this reading order, "World War Hulk" is from 2007 taking place between Civil War and Secret Invasion. Im guessing when Omar was doing the research for this reading order he mixed it up with "World War Hulk(s)" which is a hulk-centric story from later on.
I think I was just the 100 thousandth view on this gold mine of a video! I quite occasionally come back to this for help reference and guidance on the marvel events. Thanks for all you do Omar! You’re an invaluable presence in the community
Something I dislike about The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus and The Infinity War Omnibus is how they don't collect the aftermath issues like Warlock and the Infinity Watch. They all lead into each event, and without reading them you can get lost in some parts of the story. I hope that they one day they do an Infinity Watch Omnibus so it can connect the three stories and tell the rest of the Infinity Watch's adventures. Though they would have trouble mapping as lots of the early issues are parts of events. They would probably do Doctor Strange Sorcerer Supreme #36 Warlock and the infinity Watch #1-#7 #11-#17 Marvel Comics Presents #112 Marvel Holiday Special #2 Silver Surfer/Warlock: Resurrection #1-#4 Marvel Swimsuit Special #2 as the first volume as those are the harder issues to map out.
The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus is the one omni that will bring honor and prestige to my collection! In my four years of collecting omniBU, I now believe that Marvel will eventually reprint an omnibus, especially if its a classic. And The Infinity Gauntlet is a must have in my opinion, for any marvel comics true believers. I have a question; Is it now safe to get the X-Men/Avengers Onslaught Omnibus? Lol
i just started reading and buying comics a week ago and holy balls this is complicated im starting from avengers 1997/1998-2004 then going to avengers disassembles as my first event then continuing from there
This is extremely helpful for me. I signed up for the Marvel app and I am reading some of the comics on their app, but I really didn’t know what to follow and when. Your video made that very clear. Thank you!
Even though I love all these stories I somewhat feel that Marvel, and this also goes with DC as well, is releasing too many major events too close together. It almost feels like we aren't given enough time to breathe and experience the story, the outcomes, and repercussions of the stories before they are like, "hey guess what here is another major crossover event that will change everything yet again". Seeing how pretty much every event changes something in some major way these stories need to be told sparingly that way the impact of the story and the repercussions are more meaningful and not just another set of circumstances that will just be undone a year or two later. Just my thoughts what do you all think am I being too critical?
Great video. I am under the impression that most of those events are either secret, or a war, or a secret war :) I bet we will see a Secret Annihilation someday.
Bro thank you for making this!!!! I’m gonna start my comics collection based off this order! Well I’m gonna watch your DC and then Beginner’s guide next
Also, I suggest Omar, you should make a pool out of those events are out of print or only released in ohc format, or never been released in oversized format. I didn't read much of these events, but a lot of these could make it to omnibus (like original sin I've mentioned, could be a nice 1300 pages omni). I don't know that which event is worth it to get printed and released in omni format, but let ppl decide and marvel should obey our calling 😅. For example, after releasing the mutant massacre and that being oop, it would be an easy success for Marvel to continue chronologically and print out the fall of mutants omni, and after that the Inferno (all the same material released in 3 ohc). They do the right thing this year the reprint a lot of omnis, because the business is booming. Your and Gem's channel made this type of comic sell like crazy, you deserve to have influence over what's to be printed or reprinted. Help us make Marvel decide, as before, and let the world see that Marvel is listening to it's fans who put money into their pockets.
Currently reading *Hickman's Fantastic Four saga* (both Omnis) so using this to try to aid my next steps with working through Hickman's other titles as well as any major titles that can impact that 🤔 Waiting for *Ultimate Marvel* Omni later this month, got his two *Avengers* titles, *Secret Wars* TPB, *Siege* TPB, *Dark Avengers* TPB, *Planet Hulk* Omni, *Civil War* TPB (really enjoyed) as well as having just grabbed *War Of Kings* Omni with the hope of reprints of the other Omni.
Great list and run down, I totally was nodding and chuckling in agreement on your comments for CW1, CW2, and Age of Ultron. Ughh um at least the art was pretty. :D I might be in the minority but I love the original Infinity Trilogy. Gauntlet is still the best of the 3 and my all time favorite Marvel crossover, but i also loved Infinity War and Crusade as well. Can't wait for the Crusade Omni.
Here’s a list of aftermaths from different events that happen in my marvel universe series show so far: - Adam Warlock’s actions to split his good and bad half in infinity gauntlet leads to both Infinity War and Infinity Crusade. - Rhino ends up getting out of his suit acts of vengeance, starting a new life and even meeting a woman named Oksana only for a new more dangerous Rhino challenge him which Aleksei’s refusal leads to Oksana’s death and Aleksei dawning the Rhino suit again and killing the second rhino with his own hammer. Even if returning to villainy his love for Oksana would lead him to do the right things sometimes like teaming up with Spider-Man and even betraying Kingpin in Devil’s Reign. - Scorpion ends up losing his suit after Acts Of Vengeance but gets a symbiote that transforms him into the dangerous Superior Venom that becomes a bigger threat for Spider-Man and for Venom under the time he has the symbiote. - Heroes like Doctor Strange, Moon Knight, Black Knight or Blade end up having occasional run ins with demons that remained behind on earth after Inferno.
Very cool to see this summarized, but it basically confirms for me that I'm not really interested in anything from House of M onward. Probably showing my age a bit, but the whole aesthetic just changes around that point and doesn't feel like the same Marvel to me anymore. From the earlier stuff, I'm only missing Heroes Reborn (no thanks!), Infinity Crusade (can't decide if I care or not), and Atlantis Attacks (which I kinda want despite its reputation).
I wonder why you didn’t like civil war? I own the boxset and absolutely love the whole idea around it, even bought the boxset and loved that as well. Wish they added the penance mini series in that though.
I'm glad I kicked the completist habit. Some of these events weren't good enough to be read again. I never keep anything in my collection unless I like it and know I will want to reread again in the future. If I read a story line and don't like it, it immediately gets tossed for resale( I'm looking at you Amazing Spider-Man:Sins of the Past story arc). But the fact that you still have Age of Ultron and Civil War 2, which you clearly weren't a fan of, in your collection definitely makes you a completist.
I like to do some research before I buy trades, so my money isn’t wasted on something I won’t enjoy. But there are those rare cases where an event has to be read in order to understand the stories that follow. So I have Civil War, Secret Invasion and AvX (which are essential stories with far-reaching consequences, and - so I’ve heard - some great tie-ins in the case of the third) but have no intention to buy Civil War II or IvX (which supposedly aren’t very good and have more or less been forgotten). For me, there’s that occasional trade-off between quality and needing to experience the story to understand what happens.
The Civil War Saga would start with the Red Zone & ends with Civil War while the Civil War Aftermath Saga would start with the Civil War Aftermath one-shots & ends with Secret Invasion. The Dark Reign Saga would start with Secret Invasion: Dark Reign & ends with Siege which leads to The Heroic Age. The 3rd Secret Wars Saga would start with the AXIS preludes & ends with the 2015 Secret Wars & the aftermath.
Great video Omar. But I think you forgot Spider Island which does impact quite a lot of characters. However as always your video has educated me on how much I've missed. Thanks a lot mate 😊
Soooo the reason I left out spider island is because much like Hulk Out. It was a stand-alone Spider-Man story. It didn’t affect Hulk or the x-men. But holy crap there are a ton of events :)
@@NearMintCondition certainly are. I think the Marvel event frequency became cliched after a while. Too many too soon takes the specialness out of them.
This is a huge reason why I don't read any of the big two anymore. I just want to read one solo series with a start, middle and an end. Maybe a few crossover issues, but just please let me enjoy a character. I don't want to be interrupted every 12 months. And maybe that's why indie comics are rising in popularity. Cuz new fans don't want to read 1000 pages just to enjoy a character. Hell I haven't followed since 2018, by now I'm a newbie as well.
It's kind of related. It can be seen as a follow up to Annihilation and Thanos Imperative, in the following order: Annihilation -> Thanos Imperative -> Annihilation Scourge
That page with the Kingpin breaking someones back is from an Spider Man annual i have in an epic collection and always been like, wtf about. But nice to see it fits in to the The Evolutionary War event/crossover. xD
I know I ask for reading orders a lot but could you throw up the Sandman universe for a Reading Order option. Between it and Hellblazer, Books of Magic, all the Sandman Presents it’s confusing. Maybe they’re not as connected as one might think. Anyway thanks for the video brother
It made a lot clear! But still. If you spoiled a little and gave some in betweeners it would be better... I still don't know where all new all different started and stopped. Things like superior ironman run and stuff amongat that would be cool. So maybe some sort of iron man reading order? Hahah
Hey do you like / recommend the Secret Invasion by Brian Michael Bendis omni? I see you have the slimmer version here, do you have a video on either of these books specifically? Might be a good one with the show coming up. Thanks
I just watched the DC video (great BTW) and man while I think there are stories you liked here it seems to me that the Marvel events are wildly inconsistent. Everything large event wise looked much better with DC. Also I have a question, I was going to read the New cosmic marvel which you have a video on. Which other event(s) are worth the reading?
I'm a huge fan of the new cosmic saga, but other events? I think people really like House of M and Civil War. I myself thought Chaos War and Fear Itself were underrated.
In what ways are the Annihilation storylines connected, I'm intrested in the history of Wiccan and Hulking but I don't know how much of Annihilation and Venom/King in Black I have to read
Nice video man mostly all of the marvel events were covered. I've been collecting comics on marvel events starting from House of M. I'm missing only the modern galactic saga save for annihilation and hickman's infinity.
Uncanny X-men Annual #12 my favourite annual EVER! Bought it off the spinner rack:) Atlantis Attacks annuals I bought them too off the spinner racks every week as it was happening with my allowance at the time which was $10 lol
ugh.. I stopped getting Marvel books during House of M. I saw nothing here to make me regret that decision. (I did pick up the 1st few issues of each of the Annihilation prequels when they came out, stopped, but then recently tracked down the 4 trades).
these 2010 era events TOUGH reads. I remember these are what got me out of Marvels stuff in those years (same way you said Onslaught got you out for a bit) I think I just hated the mutant slander. I gto heavy into Image #1s and IDW Transformers.
Secret Wars was really my first ever Marvel Event Like it was before my time because I was born in 2002 and then I started collecting comics in 2012/13 around the time of when Marvel Now was announced. Nevertheless Secret Wars is still my favourite Marvel Event
How do the omnibusses work? Have they only the series itself, or also other comics during this huge crossover, or just multiple series that are labelled as a big crossover?

That page with the Kingpin breaking someones back is from an Spider Man annual i have in an epic collection and always been like, wtf about. But nice to see it fits in to the The Evolutionary War event/crossover. xD
Hey omar, are the marvel epics a good starting point for new readers and are they reader friendly ?
They completely are.
I know I ask for reading orders a lot but could you throw up the Sandman universe for a Reading Order option. Between it and Hellblazer, Books of Magic, all the Sandman Presents it’s confusing. Maybe they’re not as connected as one might think. Anyway thanks for the video brother
Hmm that one might take a little bit of work, but its fun.
Everything you’ve seen can be purchased for only $250,000!
Ahem. I’ll be happy to make you a deal right now! Half off that 250K price :)
It made a lot clear! But still. If you spoiled a little and gave some in betweeners it would be better... I still don't know where all new all different started and stopped. Things like superior ironman run and stuff amongat that would be cool. So maybe some sort of iron man reading order? Hahah
Thank you and I can add that to the voting poll.
Love this video so great
where do you get these thick comic collections from, ive only ever seen papaerbacks at my stores
I almost quit reading comic books because of Brian Michael Bendis. I loved WWHulk. He kicked the crap out of everyone in the Marvel universe.
Have you done an updated one with events since this came out
In what ways are the Annihilation storylines connected, I'm intrested in the history of Wiccan and Hulking but I don't know how much of Annihilation and Venom/King in Black I have to read
I wish Ghost Rider had a role in the older Marvel events.
Been waiting for this.
Hope it didn’t disappoint.
Nice video man mostly all of the marvel events were covered. I've been collecting comics on marvel events starting from House of M. I'm missing only the modern galactic saga save for annihilation and hickman's infinity.
is Secret War its standalone story? like we won't miss anything for the story if we don't read Annihilation right?
Uncanny X-men Annual #12 my favourite annual EVER! Bought it off the spinner rack:) Atlantis Attacks annuals I bought them too off the spinner racks every week as it was happening with my allowance at the time which was $10 lol
Love that book.
ugh.. I stopped getting Marvel books during House of M. I saw nothing here to make me regret that decision. (I did pick up the 1st few issues of each of the Annihilation prequels when they came out, stopped, but then recently tracked down the 4 trades).
Annihilation and the cosmic saga is amazing. House of M was not for me either nor were most of the events, but at least the art is nice.
Original Sin is my favorite Marvel event
Will I still understand Secret wars 2015 if I haven’t read THAT much?
So, i should avoid Secret Empire then?
great content. ty
I've never understood why AoA didn't affected all the marvel comics.
these 2010 era events TOUGH reads. I remember these are what got me out of Marvels stuff in those years (same way you said Onslaught got you out for a bit)
I think I just hated the mutant slander. I gto heavy into Image #1s and IDW Transformers.
I want to start reading comics again and have a question: are these crossover books really essential if I want to read Marvel Super Heroes?
Secret Wars was really my first ever Marvel Event
Like it was before my time because I was born in 2002 and then I started collecting comics in 2012/13 around the time of when Marvel Now was announced. Nevertheless Secret Wars is still my favourite Marvel Event
How do the omnibusses work? Have they only the series itself, or also other comics during this huge crossover, or just multiple series that are labelled as a big crossover?
Are you still gonna make one for DC? Also, a Batman one would be cool.
Does Avegers Disassembled and Enemy Within not count?
Hey Omar, have you done one on Superman?
Not yet, but I'll make sure to put that up on our poll this summer.
