Just like when I sold computers the question I always got was, "Which one should I buy?" My answer, just like metal detectors, is - Buy the best that you can afford. That way it will serve you longer. Well, I think I need to save up my pennies and nickels and get something better than my old, tired, Bounty Hunter Pioneer EX. It has served me well but I think it is dying. Know YOUR machine - regardless of how much it cost and you will be way ahead.
Several reasons I like your videos. You produce them quite often. Every entertaining. Also, your videos are educational. Great work! Nugget Shooterette does a very nice job as well. My next metal detector is going to be the Gold Monster. A friend of mine purchased a Gold Monster and went over his claim and found gold nuggets that his old metal detector had missed. Keep up the wonderful work....
Fantastic analysis at the end comparing the two machines. I think parallels could be drawn with the Tesoro Lobo Supertraq and the Equinox with being a multipurpose machine but still able to pick up the gold (vastly different era though). The difference being for Tesoro, their units mainly were for relic hunters and while a couple units could detect smallish gold the Lobo original and Supertrac successor was designed with nugget hunting in mind first but they always included features for their base, the relic hunters. You're right there's been a huge jump in the last few years with technology and something has definitely changed. I got a like new Lobo ST for 280 from a nice gentleman a while back, but as you and others say know your machine and I haven't had enough ground time to justify upgrading yet if I can't put in the time. While I haven't got any gold because I'm split between placer prospecting and detecting, it is picking up slivers (teeny bullet fragments or wire) of lead an inch or more down in hot rock city. While I was disappointed it wasn't gold at those times, I'm happy I at least pulled it out of the ground. So small I wasn't sure a pin pointer would have done me any good, but I sure would have tried it if I had one. Sometimes it's a super tiny piece of rusty wire but at least I know it's getting picked up.
I remember the video when you first got the 6" coil for the detector. That threshold was so smooth. After that video I read the instructions on how it operates and have been totally impressed with the machine since. And using the all metal mode to enhance the signal is incredibly smart.
Just ordered a equinox 800. Seems like it is the best all around machine on the market from beach to gold. Just wanted to get the right one off the bat instead of upgrading and missing targets with cheaper units.
Thanks Bill another great video!! Keep them coming mate and please do some more with the Nox 800 and if you could please show us your swinging speed that’d be a great help as yes I find myself swinging to quickly at times. Take care mate and we love your videos here in Australia.
Its a hard thing to get used to for sure, especially if you started out on coins like I did... It takes a bit of persistence, research amd practice... but eventually you will see shiny in the scoop. Im still learning, but I have found tiny gold with the Nox. I strongly suggest getting the 6 inch coil if you havent already. Good Luck & Happy Swingin
I bought the 800 as my 1st serous machine and the more videos & reviews watch on it the more I feel I made the best choice. Bill, Keep your videos coming really enjoy them.
I sort a giggled at minute 16:04 when you said your constantly pumping your machine....sorry I know....it just made me laugh and Lord knows we need a little levity in these times
Yes I agree with your sensitivity settings in hot ground, I also like gold 1factory, In my ground all metal is too hot as you say and you need the discrimination and it also notches hot rocks nicely. I am very happy with my nox 800 for gold nugget hunting, I needed a waterproof machine so the nox won out over the GM1000, but that aside the GM has a slight edge as you say. I would recommend this machine as well. Thanks for taking the time to keep us informed, love your videos, it's easy to like some one you agree with on all points !!
You still have some of that crab apple wood? Figured you would have use that all up by now. Starting to like my Equinox 800 in the gold mode! Probably cuz I've been using it a little bit more to get used to it. It's a good machine!
Lol, that's what I found in that same area. Happy hunting. I had a hard time with my Garrett Gold Scorpion getting the ground balance adjusted as the ground there is very very hot.
So I got my EQ 800 last week been watching your videos and reading the minelab book I bought, anyway I went out to a very bad wash where people have been target practicing for years ..so I did find a 9mm round and a small fragment of lead so I dug these two pieces between all of the casings and spent shotgun shells so I'm considering my outing a success and gotta learn a bunch about this machine 😊😊 thanks for all the great videos
Great Video! You made my decision about the 800. I'm glad I found the video. I'm sure the rest of my Saturday will be spent catching up on some of your other videos. Thank you!
I've been watching your videos for a couple of months now. I really enjoy them. Thought I would leave a comment on this one since you're talking about the Nox 800. I just purchased one based largely on your recommendations and your videos. I'm next door in NM and was looking for videos for the desert SW. I lived in the Prescott area for a number of years in the 1990's into the 2000's. I did a fair amount of digging in that area. Still love that area and visit often, but I like smaller crowds even better. Thanks for the information and the entertainment. Looking forward to learning the machine and getting out there.
im in minnesota and i dig it all you never know what you will find, coins and junk out here and lots of ghost towns in the middle of now corn fields and my nox is unbelievable
I just bought a ML Vanquish 540 pro pack. I've seen a couple guys with videos of that machine picking up Small Nuggets on air test. The Vanquish also has all metal mode with Iron volume on or off. The Vanquish also has about the same target ID's as the 800 & 600. So I'm thinking the Vanquish will work fine in Gold Country. Oh... and the videos... were showing that ability in the Jewelry mode. The Vanquish has the multi-IQ they just don't talk about the frequencies or frequency Range it has.
I'd sure like to see you... nugget hunt with the 540 Vanquish ...with the small coil. It has the same Multi-IQ tech. I'll bet it finds the small shot, just as well. Which might mean it could find the really small gold too.
Thanks Bill you have given me some hope with equinox 800 I'm new to the sport I have been digging up lots of lead in Australia. I see you do the some lol thanks again for your knowledge
Great vid. Thanks for the info. I constantly use my SDC2300 but think I need to be more confident in taking the NOX 800 along also. It sure is a lot lighter! Have a great day!
I run a GM1000 but still new to nugget hunting, only been at it a little over 6mo. I’m considering getting an Equinox for my son and as a backup and all around detector. Learned a LOT from your last gold monster video. Thank you for these videos, very educational and entertaining 👍
wow, i use the nox 800 and its nice to see it find such small targets like that.. not that we have gold like that in England! great vid. thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the info, I live about 1.5 hours from the golden triangle in Victoria (Australia) so might be good machine for me as I would be more likely be hunting for coins etc closer to home but could be used for gold when I’m out and about in those areas. I’m apparently scoring a detector later in the year for a bday present from my wife so fingers crossed!
Hi Bill, I enjoy your vids and perhaps might be able to visit your shop in Jan '22. Would you consider doing a comparison between the GM 1000 vs the EQ 800 w/ the 6" coil?
So I've been panning and metal detecting at the creek by lynx lake, is there any settings you recommend changing on my equinox 800 I have it about 3 weeks been finding alot of I'd -9 nails, pull tabs, beer cans and bullet casings. They always hit first 11 to 22 than go -9 so I dig then recheck so far I usually only get the 1 Target. Just bought a 6 inch coil. Thanks for all the great content and knowledge you show us on UA-cam.
Awesome Bill👍🏻 That was very informative! You know I’ve got the 800 and we’ve got gold and relics in my area! Really happy to have your thoughts about the equinox and the fact that it’s the best all around detector! I know now how to tell if it’s nonferrous or ferrous! Thanks so much! I have the confidence now to get out and find gold! Great video! ATB to you guys! HH🎧⛏
Well, you answered my question on your test 3 episode. I guess I'll get this unless you recommend a better one for Alaska terrain which is very rocky. Now that it's 2022. The right coil is where I'm stuck? I hear the DD is good?? Looking for a little depth to offset the mountain rocks.
Thanks for sharing Bill, it just shows that like any other machine you need to learn it. Watching your videos gave me real confidence in my Nox, i found the tiniest piece of gold the other day with it... 0.02 grams. Just a spec! The Nox is an absolute weapon with a 6 inch coil! Thanks again for sharing mate. Good Luck & Happy Swingin
Good morning Shooter. My parents just moved to Casa Grande AZ. Planning on heading there in April for 4 days. Only a 5 hours trip from San Diego. I would like to put our GM 1000s to good use. Maybe we can get together. We are more than happy to pay for the claim use if needed. Keep up the great work. Daniel
@@NUGGETSHOOTER Update on our situation, We left San Diego this morning and at mom and dad's in casa grande. Beautiful home. They just moved in and still getting out of boxes. So Bill, maybe my wife and I can meet up with both you and Tammy next week. I just purchased the books "Follow the drywashers " and plan on reading both this week. Margie and I have GM 1000s. I also have a military PI never used. Vallon Gizmo. Maybe you might have some insight on it. Stay dry, and thank you for sharing. Daniel.....
Thanks for this 4 vid review of the Equinox 800. You convinced me it's fine for gold. I think the 800 is a good place to begin detecting since I don't live in gold country.
So I broke down an bought an equinox 800 today. I had my heart set on the gold monster but I literally couldn’t find one for sale. I ended up buying from sunshine prospecting because they offered me the machine for the list price of 899 and gave me the 6” coil also for free. Not bad considering I was thinking I would have to buy one for another 180 bucks.
Excellent demonstration and commentary on the Equinox 800..........I would love to hear your thoughts about the Equinox 600 as well. Thanks for the video !!!
Great video Bill. You validated alot of what I have already been learning on this machine. But I didn't know to go to all metal mode. I will do that now and check it out. Thanks so much for these. Love the entertainment and I always learn something new.
I think it is a higher score than the GM 1000 simply because it is waterproof and can hunt other targets. The machines either work or not. New or old and you showed us you can hunt gold pretty easily with it by getting to know its settings and using them properly. Thanks.
Hi Bill great video,Im in Illinois and hunt mainly coins and for gold rings and such.In your opinion would the 600 be just as good as the 800 for finding gold rings here in the Midwest..or does the more multi freq of the 800 shine better for coin and gold rings and chains...Thanks Mark
Enjoyed watching. Looks like the weather changed after I left lol. The wedding was at Cave Creek Recreational Park and it was the only day without rain lol. I kept wandering down in the washes when I had time to kill. Not sure there is gold there but with all the different types of rock it looked good. I've now figured out why there are so many BB's everywhere. I bet I saw over a hundred quail out there. Thanks for sharing, good luck, happy hunting and take care.
You've confirmed what I already knew would be the case, the nox will nail nuggets, especially small ones.I just wanted to hear to hear it from a nugget shooter, thanks man.
As for the Minelab GM1000 hitting targets harder than the Equinox 800....in the past I've read that is due to the fact dedicated gold machines have more internal gain built into them versus All-Purpose type metal detectors. Enjoy seeing your and Tammy's video's :>)
Amazing how the shooters fill up the desert with scrap metal-lead ...... We park near the street and walk miles into the desert, but man from small pieces of iron, lead, old timer metal.....The junk is amazing ..... I go and hit an area and after 15 to maybe 20 trash targets I'm done for the day ..... I can't dig 150 targets ...... I guess we need four wheeler vehicles to get deep into the bush ..... The detectors nowadays are so sensitive that man they detect small stuff my GPX 4500 modded by woody and using a SteelPhase enhancer and a nugget finder coil is very sensitive .......I mean a #12 bird-shot at 16-18" inches that's damn deep and when I run that coil over it screams on that #12 lead shot ...... But it does find small also .10 gram gold deep too 8" inches .... I found a beautiful quartz vein that looked like the brownies my mother used to make (burnt) but real good ..... I get a signal and start Chopping away and guess what, I was thinking gold 100% yes gold woo hoo and no way it's lead and after 30 minutes of digging a .22 cal deep into the vein ...and I thought to myself ....who would shoot a quartz vein .... Man-O-Man ........Thanks for your videos brother !
Hey bill great video video on the nox 800 i know they work well on the beaches here in the north eastas well as a relic woods machine my wife and i are running the whites mxt pros wich are hard hitting machines on silver and relics and have found gold on florida beaches but the mineralization is a bit much for them in the wet sand here in N H so long story short would the nox 600 preform as well as the 800 on the beaches ? Due to economics the 800 is a little pricey for me.. Thanx marc.
What a beauty of a day. Too bad the gold was illusive but you got a bunch of land cleaned up and Oh my that pork will be amazing I am sure. Thanks Bill. see you next post.
Thanks for the video its much appreciated... been hitting the thumbs.. just got an 800 and my mate was trying to say you cant hunt gold with it.. ive been constantly sending him your videos just to shut him up, so again thanks lol wishing you up a retirement nugget🙏🏽🙏🏽
The Nox 800 is on my radar for my first detector..... Iv'e only used a Survey Pin finder . I used it for buried Curb Stops, Iso Main Valve and hidden and forgotten Manholes etc. But I learned alot from that thing as it is an Water/ Waster Water Operators most valuable tools. I know that way different than relics or gold but it has all its own special ways of being used to sniff out that ferrous stuff..It's really close to the time of snagging the NOX 800.......I aint getting any younger and my Marshall amps are getting too heavy to carry!!!! hahah
You will love the equinox, especially if you like to hunt other places. My first machine in 20 years... turn it on and go. As to the Marshall.... swap to a harp and a bottle of blues amp? 😉
Thanks mate I enjoyed your video, I was interested to see how it stacked up against the mighty monster on the gold. Xp orx is another I’m interested on Vs the monster.
Great videos Bill. I’m mostly looking for videos about my new Nox 800 and gold. I’m still confused. In this video your getting the same tone in gold 1. I’m getting tons of tones in gold 1 on factory settings. I’ve ground balanced it over and over. Out in the middle of nowhere so no interference. Since your trained by Minelab can you give advice on getting it to settle down and focus on actual targets. Seems it’s toning even without a target. Thanks in advance.
G'day Mr Nugget shooter,ABSOLUTELY LOVED WATCHING YOUR VIDEO,how deep does the 6" inch coil go outta curiosity,i see you gotta 15"inch coil hanging on your wall.can you do a video with the 15"inch to find gold.😉from Shane Bathurst N.S.W AUSTRALIA
Depth depends on soil type, but it will hear a dime at about 12 inches in our crappy mineralized soil. Yes I will perhaps do a video using the 15 inch for gold.
Are this areas part of the roadrunner club, wanted to go to some event, to check out the the roadrunner club, all cancelled. Maybe it will open up, plan to see if I want to join, and buy gold monster from you. Would this one and the monster be a good compliment to each other? Want to get all that is needed to participate in the roadrunner club. Really like the idea of seeing the country side, and meeting what seem to be like friends and family atmosphere.

So would you recommend the 800 or similar NM “Legend” for hunting tiny creek gold like we have in NC? Or should I stick with a GM1000 or GoldFinder 2000 which actually uses 61kHz?
hello NUGGET SHOOTER JOURNALS I want to ask you for a great council. I am about to acquire a detection team for gold nuggets, but the truth is I am between EQUINOX 800, gold monster 100 I wait for your great council and from there to decide which team to acquire .. I send you greetings from Lima Peru ... I am your new subscriber
EQUINOX 800 offers 5 single frequencies of 5, 10,15, 20, and 40 kHz, giving an 8 times range or ratio from 5 to 40, hence the 5F×8 technology designation. Having five selectable frequencies gives the versatility that is equivalent to five conventional single frequency detectors.
Can you recommend any good camping spots on BLM land in the Wickenburg area? I don't have a metal detector, just wanting to get out of Phoenix for a few days.

Not bad considering I was thinking I would have to buy one for another 180 bucks.
Very nice!
Excellent demonstration and commentary on the Equinox 800..........I would love to hear your thoughts about the Equinox 600 as well. Thanks for the video !!!
Coming soon!
@@NUGGETSHOOTER Thank you !!!
Great video Bill. You validated alot of what I have already been learning on this machine. But I didn't know to go to all metal mode. I will do that now and check it out. Thanks so much for these. Love the entertainment and I always learn something new.
Glad to help Cliffy
I'd love to detect with you someday! You are the expert! Hope you are safe and doing well!
Thank you
I think it is a higher score than the GM 1000 simply because it is waterproof and can hunt other targets.
Sweet adventure to bad no gold this time knowledge time sweet good to learn thank you for sharing be safe
Howdy Shawn, yes the Gambles Quail are all over out here in the desert as are Doves
You've confirmed what I already knew would be the case, the nox will nail nuggets, especially small ones.I just wanted to hear to hear it from a nugget shooter, thanks man.
Glad I could help
Thanks Bill, very informative for someone who already has an 800.
Looks like your gonna be getting some new digs with all the rain coming your way now!
Wow ... Equinox is one of the most amazing Minelab products..😍😍😍
It really is!
As for the Minelab GM1000 hitting targets harder than the Equinox 800....in the past I've read that is due to the fact dedicated gold machines have more internal gain built into them versus All-Purpose type metal detectors. Enjoy seeing your and Tammy's video's :>)
True Randall... Thank you for watching it.
I think in my 30 years doing this I have learned that there is human trash/relics everywhere I have been.... Just wow and thank you for watching.
@@NUGGETSHOOTER I been detecting since 1981 ....I was a sophomore in High School and went out beach hunting with my father in Tampa Florida ......
Love your beard....im growing mine like that....
great vid bill i always enjoy the info and the stories and the realisum, uo your vids thank you
Much appreciated Kevin
I bet the vanquish 540 with the small coil... in jewelry mode... would work just as good.
Tried it and will not hear the little bits near as well
Hey bill great video video on the nox 800 i know they work well on the beaches here in the north eastas well as a relic woods machine my wife and i are running the whites mxt pros wich are hard hitting machines on silver and relics and have found gold on florida beaches but the mineralization is a bit much for them in the wet sand here in N H so long story short would the nox 600 preform as well as the 800 on the beaches ? Due to economics the 800 is a little pricey for me.. Thanx marc.
Yes except it does not have the gold setting, not waterproof, and no wireless headset, otherwise the same.
Great vid Bill, the E 800 is at the top of mine.
Good information thanks I'm looking for one that will work for me in my area
Glad I could help
What a beauty of a day. Too bad the gold was illusive but you got a bunch of land cleaned up and Oh my that pork will be amazing I am sure. Thanks Bill. see you next post.
You got that right!
Glad it helped
Latest firmware update for nox 800 gives the 4khz range which would be a huge plus for the 800.
Alway a good time watching the nugget shooter! I haven’t found any gold my my 800 yet but you can bet your ass I will 😉
The Nox 800 is on my radar for my first detector.....
They are available at my store

Thanks mate I enjoyed your video, I was interested to see how it stacked up against the mighty monster on the gold. Xp orx is another I’m interested on Vs the monster.
Glad you enjoyed Scott
Nox 800
Took mine out to a park for the first time today and my first hit was a silver ring. Absolutely phenomenal....
Cool, first find a ring!
NUGGET SHOOTER JOURNALS I was pretty surprised. Not worth much but I like silver.
Bill, what clubs have claims in the Little San Damingo area and also where you go over by Salome? Thanks!
GPAA and Roadrunners have many in the LSD and Gold Fever Radio has claims near Salome
Great educational video, thankyou
Great videos Bill. I’m mostly looking for videos about my new Nox 800 and gold. I’m still confused. In this video your getting the same tone in gold 1. I’m getting tons of tones in gold 1 on factory settings. I’ve ground balanced it over and over. Out in the middle of nowhere so no interference. Since your trained by Minelab can you give advice on getting it to settle down and focus on actual targets. Seems it’s toning even without a target. Thanks in advance.
Hmmmmm, what is your sensitivity set at
NUGGET SHOOTER JOURNALS factory settings until I understand why and how I should change them.
Great review im sold!
Jerrett Featherston the Monster is better for gold and less expensive
Dang, I oughta send you a bundle of the WORLDS FAMOUS Flathead Cherries wood from the Flathead Valley trees for Der smoking!!!!
Yes you should lol
@@NUGGETSHOOTER Ya know ol Buggy, I will man!! Just picked one up today. good video
Good choice!
@@NUGGETSHOOTER Only been out a few times with it. I knew it wouldn't be as easy as you make it look, but, I"m a bit discouraged not with the machine, but with my level of motivation
Bill, when you go to ground balance is it necessary to be over a target and adjust sensitivity ?Thinking on getting a p.i. machine soon and want to start with my right foot forward, you know what I mean. Thanks,David out.
No you want no targets in the area you are balancing or adjusting Sensitivity
What is your opinion on the blue tooth cordless headphones?
Does it lag???
Verses the Garrett At max Zlink
no lag
Thanks Bill, again a great video

So would you recommend the 800 or similar NM “Legend” for hunting tiny creek gold like we have in NC? Or should I stick with a GM1000 or GoldFinder 2000 which actually uses 61kHz?
GM 1000
Md MELBOURNE swears by his!!!!
Great info !!!!✅✅
Hello my dear friend, what do you think about the Aconex 800, which deserves to be acquired?
Yes it is a good detector that does as the manufacturer says.
Yea i want to get one for the beaches.. but gold monster ill always use for prospecting. So sensitive
I agree
Been watching and learning, is august too hot to hunt around Phoenix?
Yes August is still in the 107 to 115 range on average
Awesome Video! Thank you.
You're welcome!
hello NUGGET SHOOTER JOURNALS I want to ask you for a great council. I am about to acquire a detection team for gold nuggets, but the truth is I am between EQUINOX 800, gold monster 100 I wait for your great council and from there to decide which team to acquire .. I send you greetings from Lima Peru ... I am your new subscriber
hey Bill, what better detector, gold monster 1000 or goldmaster 24k? Thanks.
My opinion Monster
@@NUGGETSHOOTER thank you my friend. I will buy a goldmonster 1000.
What kilohurtz does the equinox run at? Out of your videos I watched I don't recall you talking about kh.
Could not hear any of the signals off your machine
Can you recommend any good camping spots on BLM land in the Wickenburg area? I don't have a metal detector, just wanting to get out of Phoenix for a few days.
Castle Hot Springs Road and surrounding area
Watch that “machine pumping” while you’re sitting down there 😂👍
I have the Equinox 800 but i am struggling to find what settings to use it on to find gold, any recommendations?
Stock Gold 1 with auto tracking on and sensitivity set properly.
You got me on ,woo hoo hoo.😁 👍.
Good machine my friend 👍
Good video !!!!
Did you have much luck with the 11 inch coil for gold?
6 inch is better...
