    I will choose Jimny over thar because it’s a truly good choice for people who is a family guy and do some type of moderate offroading, city drive, village narrow road drive, easy to maintain, also have bigger boot space, solid axle (which only have in jeep wrangler) and in future I can modify it because there is plenty of mods available in the global market, and yeah fuel efficiency is also the plus point in jimny. And yeah first thing I will do with Jimny is tyre upgradation😅 up to 215/75/15
    People who want road presence and want more power definitely will go for thar, but people cant upgrade its performance, suspension well tested by brands because it is globally banned because of JEEP

    About the steering play/Vagueness in the Gimny 08:39 : it uses a recirculating-ball type steering box, when compared to the much better Rack-&-Pinion setup in the Thar.
    This also leads to the poorer turning circle radius on the Gimny.
    The front solid axle setup in the Gimny would be prone to more body roll and understeer too.

    I had higher expectations from EVO on this much awaited comparison. There really was no need for drifting these two on loose gravel or go on and on about how much better the Jimny rides than the Thar - the former is an unnecessary stunt, suited to sedans and the latter has been well-established by now. With the dramatic monsoons all over the country, the expectations were to see these two gems in their real-purpose environment - a slush-fest, not some mealy old quarry 😅 Your channel doesn’t disappoint often, but for me, you dropped the ball this time Sirish.

      Nah the drift was amazing and the only other SEDAN that can do this drift is 60+ lacks because there are no reasonable RWD Sedan in india.

    90% people who own thar wont go off road... So having 5 door Jimny is best for city as well as ocassional off roading... Can trust Suzuki more than Mahindra.. Mahindra start burning ur pockets once vehicle cross its 50k mark.. So Jimny 👍

      @@evoIndia Boss i sold my xuv 700 awd.. Only after driving it for 25k kms... It had hell lot of issues.. Had xuv 500 also.. It had some kind of failures.. First 10k kms almost my xuv500 was in service station... U will know refinement of mahindra only in Scorpio.. Otherwise Tata toyota maruti are the best in everything including service cost..

    Jimny- Better offroad, sure cheaper to maintain, better handling, leagues ahead in ride quality, infinite mod possibilities, reliability wise its not even on the same planet as the Thar and lets not talk about after sales. Unless you are waiting to massage your insecure and false sense of ego with the dimensions of the Thar, the Thar isnt any competition. THis is indeed the only Maruti you should buy currently. Its a once in a lifetime car. Period.

      Jimny is far more practical than the Thar but maruti crippled the car by giving it a lame engine. Yes I said it, it is lame. Totally spineless. Any unbiased person will agree.
      It is a shame because dynamically, like you said, it is far superior to the thar.
      Now I wouldn't have bothered if it was lame and fuel efficient, but it is neither fuel efficient nor powerful. The GV is an example for a car that has a lame engine but one which is pretty fuel efficient.
      P.S. don't reply with something like "it is enough for the car". I OWN a Jimny, I know how the engine is.
      Don't kid yourself, you know it is a lame engine.

    Jimny is better than Thar because it's small size is better in off-road conditions Thar may have better diesel engine, better built quality, bigger size, A/T tyres, 4 stars safety rating all in similar price range but Jimny has 5 doors which makes it practical (although it can't even hold a bottle)

      you are mistaken saying small size will be better in offroad, the jimnys power is even less than budget car, in offroad torque matter lot not mileage. thar is a beast , jimny is not even 4X4 just awl drive. thar have true 4x4 with double the power what jimny offer at the same price.

      Jimny can be fitted with after market turbo Kits,which will Increase power output up to 150 BHP. Suzuki Launch Jimny as a Base Car, rest depends on Owners, they can perform many Modifications which suits individual. Thats Why Suzuki only provide Cheeky Highway Tyres. They know that The Man Who buy Jimny will surely go for Tyre Change

    Great video. @12:30 that screeching while turning in the Thar. I had it in my old 2015 facelifted Thar as well, even though I had changed to Michelin ATs. But now I feel the tyres were the problem. Switched to Conti AX6 now after 8 years and that problem is gone!

    Steering is reciprocating ball type.
    We are used to rack and pinion.Similar to what we had in Omni.
    I infact enjoy it.

    I think the play in steering is added for straight line stability.
    I have seen steering which are very sensitive (like Ford, MG, VW) but slight movement in steering at cruise speed makes the car leave its lane.
    There is a trade off between sensitivity and straight line stability.

    Thar Anyday - ive fixed suspension (using Arc) and theyre much better in handling and comfort. I wonder if iron man or other soon to come can make a huge difference and probably then jimny’s ride wont be a deal breaker. I guess then it will be undisputed again 🙌🏻

    JIMNY being projected as a LIFE-STYLE product feels under-powered and to carry a Full-Cabin in Hill-Drive / Highway Cruising Feels uncomfortable /Incompetent. JIMNY Feels confident only on OFF-ROAD in which case MS should have offered 3-door JIMNY in INDIA otherwise a Competent Engine Capable enough to deal both Applications.

    Lets be honest. Both these off-roaders are a compromise for the average indian. Only a real enthusiast will buy either of them. So to me thar is more heart over mind and wins hands down.

      @@evoIndia I totally disagree. Because both are purpose built off road vehicles. The Thar to Indians is exactly what the Wrangler is to Americans. But it is true that from a pricing point of view Jeep / FCA have priced the Wrangler way out of reach for most people except the really well off. Saying all this, the test I am asking for is definitely necessary because I for one having used a lot of Mahindra Jeeps over the years and the Thar now am convinced that it will easily take on most of what the Wrangler can.
      But of course, if you guys aren’t willing to do the test, then I can only surmise that you fear the ire of Jeep / FCA and that may jeopardise your journalistic relationships and in turn, they, like I said, fear that they’ll get shown up by the Thar.

    Jimny is lovely with a aftermarket grill and 215 AT tyres . Just wished it had more power .
    But it is all but brut macho appeal and intimidation that you are looking for , nothing can beat the thar

      Considering the price and turning radius... We have better options, but if your city has narrow roads then hands down go for jimny cause it can fit in some tight narrow lanes and most importantly you don't need to be afraid of the little cockroaches(auto walas)😅 nicking you ride

    Dont say in india we buy cars like thar for Tashan
    Masculine suvs are bought all over the world for tashan.
    Less than 1 petcent do off roading.
    Rest of them think that there version of ladakh is real off-roading where altos and punch can also go as easily.
    Inshort thar will be the choice for the majority
    For the people who want to own something different to be different ( you know the ones who think are the oficianados) when it comes to off road legacy shall choose the Jimmy

    Disappointing review. Limits of gradeability, wading, ruts/sand/mud -handling etc should have been compared instead of drift & drag. Cybertruck or what ???!!!

      @@evoIndia it has improved the ride and handling significantly, at highway speeds it feels safer and comfortable. It cost me 65k but it is worth the extra money spent.

    I Dont know how I came to this conclusion but the jimney felt way better to drive than the thar. It has a better drive, better composure even in off-road, while cornering in that thar I felt it would topple. Jimney has a lesser body roll. Maybe you didn’t corner hard enough. Only thing the thar does better than the jimney is the bigger engine and larger chasis. Oh and not to mention the thar doesn’t have brakes, it would have been better if they had put a load of bread in the callipers
