I think you are doing a great job and I love your enthusiasm! Please pay no mind to anyone trying to hate on you or say any negative things. Just keep doing what you're doing, they are just mad that they didn't think of the name Model rockets 321. I will be using the code soon.
It’s all good. I think the Kevlar system has no give to it. I replaced it with rubber band system. Which did really well. I did build the Saturn V skill lvl 4.(last of its kind). Liberty bell 7. But havin trouble with the assembly tower. I use the standard paint&etc. but I also used 3D magic paint. That stuff really helped bring out the rocket. Had to wait until the regular color paint to dry&decals too. Then I applied the 3D magic paint.
Great day and great video. The Mars Lander landing on its legs just never ever gets old to watch. That Phoenix was one of the fastest launches I’ve ever seen for that size rocket. Very impressive! You might think about rigging the booster to lose the motor as opposed to keeping it in. It will float down much slower without it. (Enough tape to hold it in for launch, but not enough to hold it in at ejection). Something I just started doing is logging in the coordinates on my phone’s map app, as well as having the launch pad logged. Then when I get home, I plug all the coordinates into Google Earth and I can measure how far they land from the pad. Kinda fun project…….. Great video Keith and can’t wait to see you hit 2,000’!
Thanks Kevin. Yes ejecting the booster motor did come to mind! That will be the way moving forward, possibly. It has to throw heat forward and light the upper before leaving though. Yes the the 2000 feet hump. It would easily hit that with the E12-0 to E12-8 configuration. I threw in the D12 7 for the 1st flight. I'll go with the E's next time. Keep up your good content.
Great video. Love the modded 2 staged Estes Red Nova. Try doubling the number of thrust rings for engine blocks, use epoxy and a new screw lock Estes 24mm engine retainer. The streamer can be protected with ejection wadding. Hope to see you launch it again, with 2 E motors next time.❤
That Phoenix is probably my favorite rocket after the Super Vega. I built my first one at age 16 back in the 80's and it forced me to love decals after the last wrap around decal I was applying came apart in the water and I threw all the pieces away. I was so angry I couldn't sleep, got back up, fished out all the pieces of decal from the garbage and got them into water and applied perfectly, I thought it was a miracle. Great video. Just got my birch plywood upgrade fins for my unopened Phoenix so am really inspired to get building, thank you!
Awesome videos man, love your enthusiasm and love for the hobby. I did this as a kid (44 now) and recently got back into it with my daughter. Having as much fun now as I did back then. Keep up the good work man.
@@modelrockets3215 Force = Mass x Acceleration. Fall of gravity alone accelerates at 88 ft per second squared if I recall my physics right. Terra firma 1- booster 0. But we know it will work next time. At least you get your kits back. I just waved mine bye bye 🫣
Steve at Launch Lab is the bomb! Where would you put an Evel Kneivel Sky Cycle starter set from Centuri circa 1975. Also signed by Lee and Betty Piester! My wife definitely loves me.
I like the video....and I guess I need another RedNova....I have a virgin Rednova....but the 2 stage version is awesome....I have learned about the motor spacer...that's new to me...didn't know motor staging can happen that far away.... Great stuff...glad you got your "steps" in....👍👍
Sometimes landing nose first will shove the motor forward into rocket, had that happen to my D region tomahawk this weekend when the ejection charge failed and it came in ballistic.
D Region Tomahawk, love that rocket. Sorry about the failure. If it was an Estes motor failure. Contact them. They'll take care of you. Warranty Department.
@@modelrockets3215 Oh I'm not worried about it, it was a 5 year old motor in a rocket that's flown 2 dozen or more times. Estes's warranty is fantastic though and they have helped me out in the past.
great builds and great flights! i'm thinking of attempting the 2 stage mod on the red nova myself, what would you suggest to stop the booster from messing itself up like that?
I have already watched this video, just a thought if you haven't have of , add a chute to the booster stage. Install a piece of cevlar string to the top stage. Have like a heavy or so sewing thread to the cevlar .The sewing thread from cevlar to the chute on the bottom booster chute to pull out the chute & it brakes . Unless if you can use the bottom booster engine to eject chute. Just an idea. I want to get a Saturn V Apollo kit , I know Apogee has in a big kit , it stands like 60' inches,I'm after the smaller one.Any idea of who has a complete kit?
Thanks great idea. I'll sketch it and see what I can do. Apogee has a nice Saturn V. I have a Sky Lab and an Older Esyes Sat V, white box version and another Sat V somepalce. Email me: Modelrockets321@yahoo.com
Nice launches. The Mars Lander was one of the 1st kits I saw in 7th or 6th grade science where two classmates bought in. Fascinated by it. Never owned. Saw the SEMROCK version online and wondering how close to original it is to the Estes Really anxious to finish these kits I started. But realize I’m getting careless and just saw the thrust ring to one of the kits (now in final paint phase). Gonna be fun to see how that goes (Alpha or a company with rocket called “FREEDOM”. 😕. Learned that mistake long ago 😳 Thanks as a,ways for sharing your vids Keith. I have to do water bottles for my STEM event next week, but finale will be some Estes and another brand kit.
Got my So Long built. Just finishing up the paint job. Got my E and F motors in hand, ready to put that thing up over 3000’! We should drag race those things! 😂🚀🚀
Fantastic flight of the Mars Lander! Beautiful!

Thanks
A repair vid would be cool!
I will definitely consider that! Thanks 🚀
That is some good building, modifying the Red Nova to a two stage.
Thank-you🚀🚀

I just had my red nova returned to me! Super cool. Know I have to step my game up and make it 2 stage
Yes, just solve the booster landing issue. Ejecting the motor so tumbles lighter may be the way
@@modelrockets3215 go for a 3rd stage Keith. We all know MODEL ROCKETS 321 can do some amazing things. 😎

That's good to hear. And thanks for the words🚀🚀
Keith: Looks like the booster lawn-darted, nose first, and the engine mount jammed forward on impact.
You are right. I under estimate the force these can have hitting the ground. Especially nose diving

The Estes North Coast Command Launch Conteoller from Yeats ago
Great launch day!! I am guessing the sustainer engine roasted that booster streamer at separation. What do you think?
Definitely cooked it
What beautiful flights.
I'm in progress of building the Estes phoenix missle. Wherr did you get the motor from?
I had those F44 for a while, I forget possibly from the vendor based in Tuscon, AZ. But Hobbylinc has them also
