Hi Dan, I'm as old and fractured as the bedrock you are standing on, in this video, but I cannot thank you enough for taking us along on each of your fantastic action-packed adventures. I was thinking about buying those bags of material and pan for gold here at home. I am sure I would have a ball panning for gold like you do. You have certainly more than earned my subscription to your fabulous videos.
Dan I live vicariously through you. When you find gold I find gold so thank you for finding me some gold today. I’m glad to hear your heart is better. God Bless.
Dan The Man…Nice to hear you are in good health and always in good spirits. We need you out here you man. You have the uncanny ability to make people feel like a kid again.
My first day panning for gold & I enjoyed it as much as Dan. I love the river and the sound. Thanks Dan. See you again soon. I'm glad you got a clean bill of health. Think you'll need it.
Such a fun video to watch as you explored the claim! Beautiful gold and scenery. Super glad to hear your heart is healthy too! I know that struggle first hand and know what a relief it is to be “fixed!”
Dan I gotta thank you for getting me started on my gold journey. I've realized after getting out a dozen or so times now that every time I get a little better, find a little more gold, know where to look and where to pass up but I am always surprised at what I learn everyday. It's an equal amount of research and field work! We have a lot of old gold mines in the hills out here (Oroville, WA) I'm thinking about trying out some dry panning maybe... "there's a chill in the air only miners can feel and there are ghosts in the tunnels the company sealed."
Dan it’s always good to take a 5 gallons bucket with you to make your day a little easier , and what if you need to carry 50 pounds of gold , you’re ready, it’s a joke Dan , I thank God for keeping you healthy, so that we can keep enjoying your show and of course enjoy nature’s wonderful places .
Love the slow-mo shots that you worked in. Especially on the first one you can see clearly little stones going out of the pan. As always, stay healthy and keep the awesome content coming :)
I feel like I struck gold when I found your channel. It's as if the frustration and stress from my day wash downstream with every pan you complete. Your best claim has produced 1.14m nuggets, lets get him to 2m!!
You are a mountain-goat Dan ! , nice skills climbing through the rocky shore safely and awesome job with the eagle-eye on the places where you think there would be gold. You deserve big nuggets oof gold.
As an American who spent 10 years in BC. I remember when the Gold was actually Green! And it tasted & smelled fantastic. Miss all of my good friends up there in BC. Greetings from Florida. Gold in the pan Dan. Yeah Buddy!
Once again great content! I’m not sure if you already answered this but isn’t the hose on your vacuum a form of sluice with the riffles in it? Thanks again for the vicarious gold fever!!
Its fun going back and watching your videos when you were still teaching school, did you ever think you would have 1.22million subs on youtube just 4yrs after filing this? Pretty awesome work Dan, well done sir!!!!
Hi Dan! New subscriber here! So glad the algorithm led me to this video and ultimately your channel! Extremely informative, educational and entertaining! Can't be more wholesome than that these days. Honestly, I enjoyed your "Geological Fact of the Day" and the way you explained why and how you did what you did and you also got into the science/physics/hydrology of how the gold gets distributed upon a claim such as this one along the Fraser River. Another awesome aspect of this video was your easy to understand explanation of flood, bank and bedrock gold. Anyways just wanted to express my thanks and let you know you have gained another avid follower! Also, it is evident to me and all of your followers and subscribers that you Dan, have a pure heart of gold and with that sentiment we are all Glad to hear of your clean bill of health!
What would make water "surge" on a river like this? Near the end where Dan mentioned it swamped his boot I paid attention to it doing that. Not something I'm used to seeing in my rivers! Only "surge" of water I've ever encountered was a flash flood haha.
@@Danhurd Thanks for replying! I found it wild that it does that because I don't encounter that around here. Is it because the Fraser river is a lot deeper that it seems?
RAIN up stream, anywhere a chunk of glacial ice can drop in, a released beaver damn on a tributary, any of these would cause a surge, the wake from a powerful motor(boat)...gosh I could go on
Congrats on clean bill of health. I had triple bypass on May this yr. Am doing great and feel 10 yrs younger. My bucket list is to find and pan gold on one of my trips to WA to see my sister. Can't believe how much better I feel. Enjoy your exuberance and determination. Thanks for sharing.
Fun to see Dan excited to see the train. I imagine the people on the train would be happy to see Dan, as well. "Look there, what's that bright spot on the river bank?" "That's a gold miner, sweetheart!"
On a real note I've never lived in good gold areas anyway my best day is find like 40 micro dots it's just fun while the family fish and play in the river
Nice,, as you say,, there is gold on the Fraser,, ,that's just a random day out there digging around 👍👍👍 in a way I'm jealous not of the gold but for the adventure 🤔🤘

Don't know about there, but here in Alaska, Bears are always around, and can suddenly show up, when your in the river, with your head down... or when in transit through the forrest. Luckily, here, we can carry pretty much whatever we want for protection. Be careful out there Dan.
I appreciate you sharing how you choose where to dig, educational AND entertaining While I am not near running water except after a big rain your enthusiasm motivates for other activities and the scenery is refreshing as it has been over 105F most of the last 2 weeks

What would the gold rush guys have seen in a pan? Or were they even panning as opposed to big sluices and such. As an aside, I recall hearing that Chinese people were observed hauling out "rocks" and sending them back to China, which puzzled the white guys. Turns out the "rocks" were jade :D I've watched your channel for some time and will continue to do so. The Fraser has a ton of interesting stories, so if you ever get tired of geology, I'm sure you could change hats for a day and regale us with historical facts and such. Cheers from Vancouver!

Hi my name is Mike senger thanks for the adventures. A suggestion for you great gold guru, humbly of course, but why not bring a five gallon tub to put water in? Saves a lot of climbing, and will increase the number of pans per hour!❤uman
Hay Dan love what you do, thanks for all the great info! I have watched tons of prospecting videos from alot of different people and one of the things I've never understood is why people don't use leverage more to move big rocks. Never understood why people drag pry bars around with them when the forest is full of them just for picking up. An 8 to 10ft piece of 3 to 4 inch diameter dead tree/branch could easily generate far more leverage then a 3 ft pry bar. One could easily move much larger rocks with far less effort. What's up with that? It's something I've never seen anyone do.
Dan, your're such a hoot! I enjoy watching you pan for gold!. I chuckled when you said the hose had 3 pieces, they were tiny, they are fly poops. Good for you on your claim.
HiDan! Even though it is January 2024, it is snowing faintly today, adding to the 2-3inches earlier this week. You have inspired me to empty out a panning tub from a session I did in better weather. Thanks for your inspiration in your videos!
