What is better, PANNING high grade or HIGH BANKING low grade?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 вер 2024
- Obviously grades vary and results will vary, But for this day at my Fraser Bedrock claim, Reg will be panning the highest grade deposit on site, and I will be high banking lower grade material, that has enough volume to high bank which will do better? I was surprised with the results.

#goldpanning #thefinders #findinggold
I gave my son some of your gem stones for his birthday. He was over the moon! Then I told him they came from you and he was even happier! "THE Dan Hurd?!?!?!?!"
Good dad
Awesome move Dad. You're doing it right. ✌️
That's a freaking adorable story.
This put a smile on my face. What a Wicked dad!
❤
Dan: "But there you are: gold."
Dana: "That's pretty!"
Dan: "So are you!"
That's a very sentimental moment!
“That gold is pretty” … “so are you” ❤ that’s a man who knows the right answer 😁
Hi Dan, I would like to thank you for making these videos. I am disabled enough that I have to remain on a bed 24/7. Your videos actually get me out seeing parts of the world I can no longer travel to. I'm in the UK and have never seen Canada. Your country is both spectacular and beautiful.
Once again, thank you.
Normally I don't leave comments on my UA-cam channels but I wanted to say I love how positive you are even when you don't find a lot of gems or gold. Your a true prospector man! Well done!
Good morning Dan..just want to say thanks for all the hard work you put in making these great information videos..I have learned a lot, thanks 😊
Dang now that I’m on the west coast I keep missing these haha. When I was out east it was at a perfect time for me. I love coming to the premiers and missed the last few weeks 😢
Did you move back west? I always though it was odd when you were trying to be an east coaster...
Howdy Dan,
I heard you ran out of gas, twice!
I may have a solution for a variety of things for you. Eliminate the gas powered pump and go electric. You have Milwaukee tools already, perhaps finding one or two bilge pumps that produce a high volume would work?
Solve the issue of running out of gas,
Solve the issue of weight from the gas powered pump, and the gasoline. Also save $$$
Plus you can bring as many batteries as you need in trade for 1/4 of the weight of the pump alone.
Great video!
Dan! i just learned something new thanks to you! washing back the black sands and removing That as you go, is Brilliant! i love it!. im so totally doing that next time i pan! thank you for showing that technique Sir! =)
Good technique. I also do it. It helps you process better when u have a whole lot of black sand
Hey Dan, does gold ever make its way under the gold hog matting? Your test pan contained only what was inside the matting, but as you drug it out there was a lot of material left behind that had me wondering if it's worth sampling separately.
You put in some work between filming morning and late day and digging all day. Great job and good info as always!
hmm, ten or so min to vid. i agree with hellcat, low grade should win hands down, even if its got 10% the gold of high grade. moving 20-30 pan fulls for a time block vs a single pan of the good stuff will yield better overall/ >.> tho slucing high grade is the best of all
I'd love an hour or two hour video of you using a high banker or thr boar box because it sounds so lovely! I'd fall asleep to it so easily.
Thanks again for great information. I watched your video about the Green Sand Beach in Hawaii and added it to my list of things to do there. Well, We went last week and it was amazing. And we did opt to pay the locals for a ride, that would be a hell of a walk round trip. Keep the great content coming!
One thing about being on the Fraser River is, you have to be sooo careful as to not fall in. A Very, very dangerous river, as we Fraser Vallians are all to familiar with. Cheers Dan, your my go to pan, video man👍 Cheers from the "Wack"
Damn, it’s been a minute since I’ve binged on some good gold vids…. Just as I was thinking that I get a good Dan vid pop up ⬆️ in the feed! So happy!
Just watching you pan has greatly improved my own panning skills! You really are extremely good at it!
Sitting in bed after a day setting seed and baby plants, setting up veggie beds & pots. I’m drinking hoc choc and watching Dan in Canada, sitting in NZ. Isn’t the internet wonderful? I adore watching Dan on his claims. He and his family & friends work so hard. It’s great to watch and learn as Dan tells you about geology as he goes. I find myself hoping that they find the mother lode and I get to watch it. I’m not sure I would have the patience he has, but it’s an occupation that keeps you fit! I hope he keeps the good gemstones for his wife.. if she wants them. Great video😊😊😊
P.S. the more videos I watch, the more I think Dan looks like an archetypal Viking. I would love Dan to plait his gorgeous beard and weave gold trinkets into it made from gold and garnets he has mined. Or is that just me? I think it’s a look he should try, he’s outgoing enough to carry it! ❤
I noticed the new hat. Sure, bringing in the good luck 👍 .
As always, Dan, thanks for sharing your experience and stories. Reg is sitting there like a little mouse. Very quiet. Regards South Africa 🇿🇦.
Good morning sir hope all is well with you and your prospecting. Thank you for the content Dan
Was in Costco today. Wearing a Dan Hurd t-shirt, ran into a guy who said" so your a Dan Hurd fan as well." Yep when I get home gonna check out this weeks video.
One thing is for sure, that is a quality hat.
IM SO EXCITED!!
As I watch I always think that down in the crevices there has got to be more/bigger pieces/chunks of gold.
Are you not allowed to use hand suction pumps or devices in that area?
Answered: Dan says, "I will definitely be bringing my vacuum next time."
Excellent that high banker pays for it self in no time. Awesome job thanks for sharing this six stars
I think that montage of you working on day 2 was your best montage so far...
The choice between panning high-grade material or high banking low-grade material depends on your goals and the resources available. Panning high-grade material can yield immediate results in terms of finding valuable minerals, but it may require more effort to gather sufficient quantities. High banking low-grade material may require less effort upfront but might not yield as high-quality results. Consider your objectives and available equipment to make the best choice for your situation.
I sure do wish I could send you a picture of this vain I found in decomposed bedrock in Alaska this year I have no idea what it is
Always enjoy watch Dan's adventures!
Dan, could you please give a small tutorial on what an inside bend is and what to look for. Thanks.
what an amazing day this was!!! Cant wait to get back out west to pan some more ;)
Looks like a month on the river would pay off pretty good if you do it manually.
After watching you with the Garret super sluice pan, I bought one myself. I love it, when I test pan an area I never classify. It only takes about ten seconds to bring the big stuff up. Love the videos Dan!
A good ol hole digging gold panning adventure. Who doesn't love that on a Sunday morning?
Thanks again Dan.
Great job, and the comparison was fantastic, but still, if all you can bring is a pan, you can't go wrong!
Sounds like the "Crux" of your problem, Dan, is you need a light weight, composite, backpack sluice....maybe something in a fetching......purple????
Hello sir, im also a gold panner youtuber here in the philippines...Keep it up.❤
My room mate made a great observation. "You're listening to Rock n Roll while you're watching rocks roll huh?" Pretty much lol
Nice work guys, some great gold. God bless
Show your overnight camping setup at some time? Do you ever go fishing on the river?
Greetings from the BIG SKY. Good question.
Hi Dan! My wife and I really enjoy your videos. I just thought I’d let you know that three links you have for the Garrett gear from Kellyco take me to a “404 Page Not Found”. The Metal Detection gear links work but not the pan and kit links. Best wishes from Lethbridge!
Thanks for another fun video Dan. I was wondering lately what are Mike and Pete up to?
this is going to be a great video
Nice work
I enjoy your exuberance, I can live through you
I love these experiments you do, so interesting and educational!
Loved the scenery..is there any gold on Arrow lake??
Used to live there. Monessen mtns??🙏🙏
The little high banker is the way to go, my thoughts on its best use are different to your method, classify, reduce the water volume and put in a section of miner moss. Trying this will not cost you anything.
was going through youtube and now im here..
I'M REALLY NOT INTERESTED IN GOLD PROSPECTING...BUT THAT CLAIM HAS SOME FANTASTIC GEOLOGY FORMATIONS..YOU COULD MAKE A FORTUNE JUST SELLING AQUARIUM HARDSCAPE ROCK...IF YOU KNEW WHICH ONES TO CHOOSE TO LUG OUTTA THERE BY THE TON...

"That's my theory right now, I don't know if it's right." Rockhounding and prospecting in a nutshell.
Thx for taking us along!
Another fun one! Thanks as always for your videos and enthusiasm.
It's like bringing someone to your secret fishing spot they catch the biggest fish you ever saw
Hey Dan, have you ever noticed the correlation between gold and serpentine in your area? I guess in Jason's neck of the wood in Washington it's a known indicator of gold and I guess it was that way on the Bear River here in California too. Wow! There's only 4 species of lizards in BC? I guess welcome to a cold environment. The pygmy short-horned lizard is stupidly cute.. I'd love to have a Common Wall Lizard though, those are pretty. They definitely look related to the alligator lizards.
That’s totally awesome looking gold
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
Good Sunday Morning All
All the best Dan
In your video around 12:18 there were some pretty green and orange rocks in your tailings. Can you identify what kind of stones? We don't have the same color rocks in NY! Just wondering. Look pretty when wet.
Dan, Could you use solar power rather than gasoline especially on a mini-sluice? It would seem to be way more efficient.
GOOD JOB!
nice gold thank you for sharing the adventure and information 😅
Was that last clean up video shot on a different camera? It looked much better than the normal footage.
Dan Hurd , just loving the content , great information love the clean presentation 👌
R/Steve
You have said it's (or close to) low water in the river. Some seasons you could go out in the river bottom at low water. This year? Is there good gold "under water" or is that not part of your claim?
Also.... what brand and model is your "little gas pump"? How many feet of hose are you pumping into? Vertical lift?
Now, high bank the high grade!
Try using a small stiff whisk broom.
Hey Dan not to criticize but I think your pan should be under the end of the highbanker as you remove your mat, never know what could have snuck under the mat.
man the view is amazing
i would like to see if using a Hydraulic Ram Pump would work for pumping water for your high banker, only works in running water but uses no gas or electrical. you can make them your self with parts from the home center. They also have industrial ones used for irrigation for farming.
You need head to run a ram pump.... also you would need a LOT of head to get the pressure to run a highbanker.... you probably would need to run big bore pipe several hundred yards along the river to get enough head. 2-3 Trucks full of reels of pipe is a lot harder to lug around than a can of diesel....
A diesel pump can run from a single location with zero head.
I'm sure I'm not the only person to ask this but why don't you invest in a miller table to do your concentrate separation?
Ever try a long bristle wire brush for bedrock cracks?
❤ just love it .Never missed a video
some of that will be pt as well
What's up my brother reg. Get that shiny
It sure sounds like a bummers to have ALL your gold reflecting too much light to see it.
How deep is the river where you film! Looks deep
Hi Dan ! I just want to know what you mean about "wire gold".
Well next time you go to pickerton bring yourself your pump at a hose and pump yourself some water up on the side of the mountain near by where you're mining then you wouldn't have to walk down to the river as much
I'd wager you could catch fish on the Frazier, if you wanted to fish.
Do they rocks you are digging around make good flint?
Nice Job GuyS!
Yay more wife! Thank you 😊
*#nationalfossilday** October 12 thanks for this awesome video*
Good luck for day 2
Today that gram of gold is worth close to 60 USD. Not a lot, but with my hobbies it's a good day when I don't _spend_ more than that.
Man you're so lucky Dan I give just about anything to be able to go pan and actually get gold 😂 not really any in my area but I still try l
Well that was fun
Great video
Beautiful gold 😊😊
was that green stone Jade, Serpentine, or simply Greenstone?
Why not use the multi sluce to clean your cons?
What gold hog mats are in that mini high banker?
How much gold do you think you find doing this kind of stuff in say a year total I know you aren’t doing this all day everyday I’m just curious thanks for sharing
Get the "Led" Out!
You should run a rope handle down the harder spots on the way down.
