There was an amethyst vein out behind my grandmother's farm. When I was a kid, I'd walk through her fields after they plowed and just pick it up off the ground. Big crystals, too. Miss you, grandma.
Nice. As kids, we walked the fields on my grandparents farm, behind a tractor, puttng the rocks on a wagon, of a ton of rocks, might find a nice looking rock or two, your grandma's place would have been way more fun. Hope you still have a few.
I recently realized I wanted to go back to college for geology and eventually make fine jewelry with stones and do soil samples. Your channel was the first one that popped up. I love your energy! Your videos feel as if you are showing a friend around and sharing geology facts of the day is one of my favorite parts of your videos. You are enthusiastic and have great vibes. I am a new immigrant to Canada and Canada is a beautiful country. Thank you for sharing the beauty.
Seriously - one of my favorite parts of your videos is where you say “I hope to earn your subscription today!” - Thank you for asking instead of demanding. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Those colors are fantastic! Beautiful video as always! I literally can smell that fresh air and taste the grit! Oh, how I miss being out in the field! Thanks for taking me virtually! The rockhound life is such a lovely way to live! Isn't it?
"Wow, that's like a treasure trove of Earth's hidden wonders! Agates, amethyst, and geodes all in one place - you've hit the geological jackpot! It's incredible to witness the beauty that our planet holds beneath the surface. Nature's artwork at its finest! 🌍💎✨"
I don’t collect geodes. I don’t collect crystals. I have a minor interest in geology. But I found this fascinating and watched to the end. Every video Dan puts out I watch because I learn something - or he cheers me up. I find Dan absolutely delightful. He’s the brother you want so you can ship your offspring off to Uncle Dan for adventures. Good on you Dan, yer bloods worth bottling. 😊😊😊 shining the lights on them was like shining a light on a potato and finding it was supernatural….
I live on the Eagle River in Malakwa B.C. I find all kinds of geodes and agates, but no good tools to expose what's inside them. I just collect what I can and hope one day I'll get a buddy to help me with some real tools. Great site! 😁
Thank you 1,000,000 times over !! You have no idea how much I enjoy watching your videos !!! I'm batteling a bunch of medical problems so laying in bed watching and learning from you brings me an escape and great joy. Medical bills keep me from buying a momento from your store at this time, but I am setting aside a little bit each month so I will be able to get a momento from your site. As a bonus to my year, I was honored too see you one day in your truck at Lynden. It has been the highlight of my year, Keep up the FUNTASTIC job!! And again, I THANK YOU !! : )
Dan. You are such a patient teacher. You are blessed. You’re what’s needed the world over. To help correct even small mistakes right away. Turning perceived failures into successes!! 🙏💕With all moving forward with the best way to help everyone! ❤
Definitely impressive 👏 show of geods, from getting them out of the ground to cutting. They are amazing, awesome, and truly appreciate the video. ❤😊thanking you for sharing their beautiful crystal with in. Thumbs-up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.😅 what a joy.
22:18-22:24 I’ve watched over like 10 times I keeping cracking up everytime. What Dan says, then the noise, then paul slipping and putting the equipment down so gracefully and the second noise 😂 just the best
Omg, those are beautiful geodes.😮 I enjoy watching your videos. The information you share is a wonderful way to learn about the rocks you cut and what geology of the area your working in.
I must have watched a few dozen of your videos now Dan. I thought I have subbed a long time ago but I see I didn't. I have now. Keep living that life brother ✌️
Pauly.... Guy cracks me up... I can see you're the teacher Dan, and Pauly is just like "that" student every teacher encounters sooner or later. The combo is damn funny to watch, and very entertaining. Great video thank you.
Hey Dan new here but wanted to say thanks! I have always loved what you do but with kids, family and now just not physically able to dig. So! Thanks for taking us on your adventures and sharing all the cool gems and what not you uncover. It's a lot of fun.
You are decent to not get to upset about someone jumping your claim but to me it still comes down to the principal and morals.... I love that people are interested or fans of gems & gold but if they would ASK there may be a chance you might let them explore for a time... It's all about RESPECT for another man's property.... Great video as always Dan.!!! Also, HI PAULY & friends.!!! 😁👍
I felt the same way, being non-aggresive is a Canadian trait, a good thing but puzzling to me as an American. Respect Hell, claim jumpers got a lead dessert in them olden days ..:)
Found some beautiful veins of amy a couple days ago walking the river here in Thunder Bay, Ontario. I was visiting my brother in Fintry a few weeks ago and just missed the fair in Rock Creek! I did get a chance to head out into the bush just south of the Barnes placer area but had to turn back at a waterfall before reaching Barnes Creek. I panned around Cherryville, Kettle and the goat in Creston. Lots of pits filled, fill your holes people.
The Yellow Stone river area around Sidney, MT. has some of the best Montana Agate resources in the State. I found many great transparent agates with their beautiful art forms inside.
Those are stunning. I live in Vermont and we have some great rocks and minerals, really beautiful ones, but I have yet to find any that take my breath away like these did.
it's actually the Basalt that is abigloydial and the agates and other things form inside of the pockets. you get geodes, solid quartz filled, and lots more only depending on the minerals present. The ones i get from lake superior can have chlorite, feldspar, copper, silver, chalcedony, chrscolla, epodite or even crazy mixes of any of that. Chlorastrolite (greenstone), the state gemstone is something that froms in the Basalt ambigloyds. I was wondering if you get any included metals like we do? Also ours come out generally very round and it's still called abigloydial. Also i'm sure i misspelled several things in this post.
28:52 Question about #GLOTD Is there ever any crystalline quartz near uranium deposits that reacts to blacklight like uranium glass does? 32:09 That one looks like an ocean wave, it needs a little surfer guy on it. 😊
Dan, I saw the mineral collection at the Museum of Natural History in New York City, many moons ago. Nature's minerals and gems are amazing. What's more amazing is the way they were formed and the Geology it took to create them. Thank you Professor for enlightening us:) Cheers, Frederick "Rik" Spector
I would LOVE to come up from Florida's gulf coast, bring you some of my agatized coral and go hunting for some of your amazing green agates and other pretties!
3:28. Is there anywhere in the vlaim where you get more weathering on the agate and opal? Any where the worn silica could accumulate as precious over milenia? Most Australian precious opal is like 10-15 feet below where you find potch and trace and weathered stuff? Precious opal needs silica at the perfect size. And the perfect amounts to show color. Has anyone drilled or explored deep or downhill 10 feet in? Or if water runs down to weather it anywhere into a crack? Id drill there lol or dig. But i dream of stable canadian precious opal
Went to a rock show at China Lake and took a field trip to Rainbow Ridge, an outcrop of Jasper and Agate. Made belt buckles out of that beautiful 75 pounds of rock I shipped home.
Dan have you ever tried to tumble some of the smaller agates and make them polished and shiny as opposed to looking like dirty rocks? Or would the outsides not get as pretty as the insides? Still very cool! thanks for sharing!
@Danhurd You should try to find a little pewter surfer and glue it into that amethyst geode with the curl on top. Make it look like an amethyst pipe rider.
This feels like a fantasy, I know he knows where to look and paid for his claims, but the fact that these beautiful treasures are hidden in dirt and rock it feels unreal. Amethyst is just so stunning.
There was an amethyst vein out behind my grandmother's farm. When I was a kid, I'd walk through her fields after they plowed and just pick it up off the ground. Big crystals, too. Miss you, grandma.
That sounds awesome

Love your GRAMA wish I had one.❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a lovely memory. She gave you a nice childhood memory for sure. May her memory be a blessing.❤

I once found a large pocket, that had copper toned tips. It had about 7 points on crystal flower, about 6"' × 5" × 3" my most favorite crystal find.
That one that broke in the field is absolutely rad. It looks like a wave. That's a great specimen piece
36:02 my favorite piece so far. Looks almost like an ocean scene

This is making me want to go on an adventure . Thank you for the motivation .

MTO was essential and useful. I prefer it to the MLAS we have here in Ontario.
This was a fun video. I really enjoyed the GLOTD, too.
The Yellow Stone river area around Sidney, MT. has some of the best Montana Agate resources in the State. I found many great transparent agates with their beautiful art forms inside.

Gravel pit in Tracy, New Brunswick just pulled out the remains of a whale. Tracy is not a coastal area.
Wow!!
5:45 flip flops while working on a steep rocky hill?!
